season isn't like all the other Seasons where these guys have to be spoon fed you know babied I know 100 that every guy here is a fighter you guys have what it takes in here you all know it so the way this is going to work is we are going to pick teams today but this season there are no team coaches both teams will get the opportunity to train with some of the best mixed martial artists Randy go tour George St-Pierre and Mark de la Grotti and these are just three of several mixed martial arts experts we're bringing in to help you now you guys are going to fight a preliminary fight if you win that fight you move on to the semifinals you win the semifinals match you move on to the finals but the most important thing is the two guys that walk away in their weight class the winners will get a shot at the title this is your deal this is your big opportunity and your chance to get a shot at the world title make the most of it guys good luck boys [Music] we could be doing this at home one of the things that makes this show very interesting is is that it's not up to us coaches what they want to do and today team no loved the blue team decided to take a day off [Music] on this guy they're very lazy you know they because they're veterans and so now some of them they just don't want to work hard they just think they can win a fight by using their skill but sometimes it takes more than that UFC 60 is Matt Hughes versus horse crazy it's it's a huge fight it's a monster fight Matt the most dominant welterweight champion of all times versus the legend the guy who started it all who is crazy decided to let the guys watch this fight man it was about to get back now George say Pierre went over to the house to watch the fight with him whether Matt wins or loses George Saint Pierre is fighting Matt Hughes again he and all these guys that are in this competition that are 170 pounds interesting enough we'll end up fighting either George St-Pierre or Matt Hughes for the Welterweight Title the legend has returned that was awesome you know that was an awesome deal and here we go boys he's getting dominated on the ground here taking some serious punches and he's in danger Big John welterweight final gets a shot at either Matt Hughes or George St-Pierre and they get the opportunity to win the title George Saint Pierre whatever Matthews whoever I'm coming in they better take me serious because I'm definitely taking them seriously I'm coming after yeah here I am you know one step away from getting that title shot and uh I plan on doing it I'm just living the dream taking out Chris then choking out mad Hughes and bringing back that title to Long Island New York how I think that every guy that leaves this competition leaves a better fighter this has been a great opportunity great matchup between Chris Lytle and Matt Sarah your thoughts on the fight we will see later tonight here on Spike well it's a good matchup it's a typical Striker versus Grappler um you know Sarah's going to try and look to take the fight to the match and Chris was going to try to stand up with him and Slug It Out so uh the ghost of the mat Sarah's going to have the advantage but stands up Chris is gonna have to be doing well we will see what happens George Saint Pierre you were a trainer on The Ultimate Fighter for you understand both of these men very well Sarah and Lytle your thoughts on the upcoming fight uh I became a friend with both of them and they both got their strength and weaknesses and I just look forward to see a good fight I wish them good luck Now Matt after your last victory uh against BJ Penn uh George came into the octagon and said he wasn't impressed and you guys exchanged some words what was that all about what did he say to you how much of that was hype on his part and how much did that piss you off [Music] uh well I I'm not saying I'm pissed off everybody wants my belt you know I tell George Saint Pierre just to get in line because I mean anybody fighting for the UFC in the welterweight division once once a shot at the title it's no big deal uh but for him to come in there and say that I don't care uh I pulled him to the side after he said his words in front of everybody and I said hey you just showed me the type of person you are you know you're the type of guy that is going to come in here after I won come in the Octagon after I won and um and try and talk on the mic and uh just showed him I was a little disappointed hey GSB I I think that that was pretty atypical of the George Saint Pierre that we know do you wish you wouldn't have stepped into the octagon and angered Matt Hughes was that just uh an Aaron judgment or is that the real George Saint Pierre modern day well I uh I did a mistake and uh after I did that I went into Matthew's locker room and I apologize like a man and sometimes it's take more more courage to apologize than do it do the mistake itself and I think so far Matthews have been a lot more disrespectful towards me than I was towards him so I just looked forward to fight him in one week and after that win or lose I will shake his hand but I I truly believe in my chance and I wanna I wanna have the true I was not impressed by his victory he can't take anything else to say but what I said to him the mistake I did is to say that in front of 5 million pay-per-view viewers and all the crowd in the arena when I thought Matt use the first time I remember in the stare Downs I couldn't even look him in the eyes because I was too impressed I was fighting my idol I was fighting a guy that for me it the cage Michael Johnson is going to be a contender for sure in this competition right because it's what I'm passionate about I'm also a commercial fisherman in Alaska but I enjoy fighting a little bit more I'm from the place where we don't really have a coach we do our own thing we we kind of just work off each other and train each other I do have my own little trick but you'll all see it over mental acuity about you right now I have John danaher and uh he's the smartest guy that I've met in my entire life he's like a like a dictionary like an encyclopedia of of knowledge not only of Jiu Jitsu there's more than just victory there's also an ideal or a beautiful Victory that's what George always tries to espouse in this funny thing martial art is that's what the artist comes and they want to transform you in that the main difference and me and Josh koshak for for this season I choose my team in different criteria than most of the guys in the past I did not choose a single fighter because it was the strongest or he had the best pedigree on paper I choose guys who are very good but guy that I know by watching them that I can help when you will leave the training here at the end of the season you will be a much better fighter than when you start that's something that I can promise you I promise you this show for me is not about winning this show is not about me I'm not he says Hey listen I know you're friends with Mike Tyson I'm a huge Mike Tyson fan and I would love to have him come talk to my team you know anybody who's who's been a fan of fighting is a huge Mike Tyson fan so uh I called Mike Mike said absolutely I'd love to come see it because he's a huge fan of not only is Mike Tyson a huge fan of of the UFC and mixed martial arts he's a huge fan of fighting period whoa hey what's up George yeah I've been watching the UFC since it began with Shamrock Dance Severance no I Met George um in California from the fights and I met him around and I was just happy I mean it's really um happy to be involved with this and it's to come down this is an awesome experience for you huh yeah in the show life life changing are you doing this all your life all right yeah that privilege fighting in front of Mike Tyson was uh a one-time thing you know I'm glad I got the opportunity to do it at this level of the game when you world champion you know like the only reason you win is because you're smarter is all about confidence you know it's just um you start thinking better you start feeling better about yourself you have to think day by day in every way I'm getting better better and better confidence pretty success success breathes confidence confidence applied properly with you know surpassing genius there's nothing like confidence it's just nothing like it the whole name of the game is never getting discouraged definitely in the fight business it's life because it's constant you constantly have a fight it's always another battle you know when you're fighting in the ring you always have to be careful how you conduct yourself because perhaps you conduct your life like that this guy is like like seriously like my hero Mike Tyson you know and what was tripping me out about it was the fact that like everything he was saying right then and there applied to me so much I'm trying to hold you guys up now Mike Tyson is a very deep guys very smart person you know as a matter of fact I talk about my team learning but I I probably learn just as much as much as them [Music] the other day Josh parked their car in a way that I couldn't get in I try he's a different human being he's like more I don't know how to call that in English it's a free thinker you know but the way he does is like amazing in it he's a kind of guy he's part if you spar with him you respect him he's going to respect you if I've seen some guy try to prove a point with him and try to go hard and Muay Thai he's gonna he's gonna knock you out cold he's a character okay so I want you to be please be be careful he did a long a long ride from Paris to come here I want him to to be to be respected okay so it's important for me what George is trying to tell you this have the same lifestyle that John Shaw has because us as a martial artist we need to not smoke we need to not drink and John Charlie he live in Thailand for a very long time so in Thailand is different mattality they smoke they drink and they they fight every day you know so what's wrong with John Charles is awesome but at the same time it sucks that guy is brutal he beat us all up and he you're not only gonna talk to him he's gonna train you and they were like they were like shaking one two they have four world champions in my gym right now I train Manny Pacquiao I've trained 27 world champions all together one two one too okay be careful about when you're Zapped don't bring your head forward okay if I can make someone a better fighter or help them become a better fighter that's little classy and humble in defeat and victory the greatest Welterweight champion in UFC history and a minimum person it was like is so surreal before you start your training camp and you fight someone you have to analyze him and then analyze you so you know what he does better than you and you know what you do better than him so then you can plan a strategy how are you gonna take him out of his comfort zone as you build up a strategy you're gonna develop drills drill striking drill grappling drills technical drill setup drill that you're gonna do during your fight and you're gonna repeat those drills so many times during your training camp that it will become automatic so when you're gonna fight you don't have to think when you fight when I fight and drinks the other week I was not thinking I was not there I was on cruise control the whole fight as soon he moved to do that I traded so many times my brain recognizes movement pattern and the reaction to that pattern was the Techno they were looking at him with the eyes very open they won't blink to to don't lose to don't lose any second of it and they're very inspired of him even if I see him every day uh at the gym is still good to uh to listen to him share some some thoughts about his experiences but I I'm not happy because I like when I win like my opponent knows I'm better than him and for this fight I believe he doesn't know he believe he wins so yeah I'm not happy with the fight I'm not happy with the fight but then at the end of the fight I see the andrix who was a he was angry you know and uh I asked her foreign deep down inside I believe I would I lose I would not live like that I don't feel good I would I would give away the belt you know how you preserve yourself as a martial artist as as to do how you train some guy they know they train a hundred freaking 20 all day all the time they're gonna spoil like all the time like full-on like and they're gonna hurt themselves eventually you have to you have to to see your career like a marathon not as a Sprint it's not about who got the biggest balls you know it's not about that for some guys it is foreign [Applause] sessions per week may not be that much but there's 52 weeks in a year so it's like 104 times you're gonna get punched in the face and it takes its toll on you so we're just discussing that and um it really really opens your eyes and you think you know if I want to be doing this in 10 15 years time that's how I've got to train so man you have to think about this yeah you're not gonna fight all your life man you're gonna fight maybe 10 15 years 20 years they're gonna fight all your life it's up to you to make yourself make a plan do do it the best you can I took a lot away from meeting him just just things about training um smart planning your training um coming into fights with a good strategy and also just thinking long term about your longevity in the sport you see that if I want to stay successful to what I do I need to still have the fire inside of me if you fight and if you don't have that fire you're gonna get knocked out you're gonna get it badly injured and I just need to know can I take some break and I make a decision to see if I still have the fire and see and take my decision what I want to do if I accomplish half of what your Champion did in his career for me it would be a dream come true and I would be really proud George here the winningest fighter in UFC history [Applause]
