thank you mary and thank you everybody for joining us here at the national shrine of the divine mercy we welcome all of you from around the world for this very important time of reparation for gasking for forgiveness praising our god as he asks us to do in the sacred heart and the immaculate heart devotions let us begin with a prayer in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen heavenly father we ask that you send the holy spirit down upon all of us in this time of prayer penance reparation but even praise and worship lord jesus you have asked us to make reparation to your most sacred heart through the message of saint margaret mary alicoak you told us that you are love and to come to make reparation to your most sacred heart the source of all love and mercy mother mary your heart is sorrowful and also been blasphemed and we come here tonight in preparation of the first friday and make reparations to our sacred heart to do the same to your immaculate heart tomorrow on the first saturday as we enter into this time we ask that the holy spirit be with each and every one of you as you have answered the call and responded to the grace god has put on your heart let us give thanks to him for calling us together as one marian family and we ask throughout this night lord that your blessings be upon us and we ask this through christ our lord name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit so god bless everybody again we are so grateful that you are with us we are continuing all year we will be doing these first fridays and first saturdays now if you missed our first january first friday we can just briefly give you an idea of the importance of what we are trying to gather an army of mary to accomplish our lord's words to saint margaret mary alikoc as we just prayed were very clear in the sense that his heart is wounded his heart has been hurt and needs in many ways now we know jesus needs nothing but in the sense he wants and desires consoling we know this from books like father mike gately's consoling the heart of jesus that when we console his heart as he told saint faustina several times in the diary that she consoled him in the garden showing that element of christ being out or god being outside of time we are able to do that right here tonight do you realize that we can console jesus christ in the garden during his agony in the passion father what are you talking about this is crazy no jesus made it very clear to saint faustina that the prayers of priests religious and all of those like you part of the body of christ are what got him through the garden and that agony that he endured was because of these prayers believe it or not the prayers that you're going to be making tonight if we offer them up will help our lord carrying the cross it's almost mind boggling to think of this concept you know as i was going through a couple tough periods in my life i was getting depressed knowing that our lord who was suffering in his egg in the garden was being weighed down by my sins and how embarrassing is it that a priest was weighing on our lord jesus christ so heavily in the garden that his sweat turned into blood that weighed heavily on me until brother jason and i started working on our book and discovering that god is outside of time there's no past for god there's no future for god everything is one big eternal present moment and so as we began to write the book the two of us became so taken by the mercy of god that being outside of time not being any past for god not being any future for god everything being one big eternal moment that we can pray now for the loved ones that we've lost in the past and as i just mentioned especially to console our lord especially in the garden it's what faustina did so join us tonight as we pray in reparation to the wounds and ingratitude that has wounded our savior's sacred heart i'll finish with this i did a video a couple days ago and we were asked a question from helen in the uk that said father what is the best devotion there's so many they're overwhelming in our catholic faith which one or two is the best and you can't answer that question because whatever one grabs your heart is the best but when you look at a devotion to all the saints as beautiful they are when you have a devotion to divine mercy it's not a devotion to just another saint it's a devotion to god as i pointed out when you look at the left foot it's a devotion of him to us also said that there are special devotions when jesus and mary asked directly for them this is what we have in the first fridays and first saturdays our lord specifically asked for the first friday devotion and our mother mary specifically asked at jesus's prompting for the first saturdays in this first friday devotion which we will focus on tonight jesus asks this for nine consecutive fridays now if you did it last month we're on friday number two if this is your first time here that is absolutely fine you start tonight for nine consecutive fridays we receive holy communion with the intention to make reparation to the sacred heart of jesus but father i cannot receive holy communion the church is closed i am in quarantine catechism 14 52 tells us if we cannot make the sacraments we make an act of contrition to confess our sins and we are forgiven likewise an act of spiritual communion to receive the grace as if we did receive our lord in holy communion with the intent to return to the sacraments as soon as possible when we do that we have fulfilled the sunday excuse me the first friday and first saturday obligations and when we are able to do that because our lord says basically receive me in holy communion with the intention to make reparation of my sacred heart that's what we're going to do tonight we're going to read a spiritual communion so if you were able to get to the physical reception of the sacrament god bless you that is ultimately what we hope all can do but we also and god knows that's not possible for everyone so in this time we will make an act of spiritual communion tonight and what does our lord promise the soul that does this for nine consecutive first fridays will not die without final perseverance and without the sacraments that means salvation now the last thing i wanted to point out is why is this so important brother jason and i were just talking about this prior to coming here tonight with a powerful statement of the diary of saint faustina that brother jason will elaborate more but basically our lord told her i am clamoring number 50 in the diary he says i am clamoring to pour out my love and mercy upon the world here's our task everybody you have our lord's sacred heart which is the source of all divine mercy the blood and the water come forth from the sacred heart of jesus that source that sacred heart is wounded and if our lord is clamoring to pour this mercy out upon us and all over the whole world we have to help make it happen we have to help be ready in a state of grace to receive those graces but also that heart of our lord is wounded and then basically the message to saint margaret mary was make reparation console my heart so then the flood gates open and that mercy which comes from his heart can be poured out all over in the whole world that's why we're here tonight that's why god called you that's why you responded to his grace praise be god so right now brother jason will give a brief reflection and then we will begin the rest of the night of prayer music and beautiful worship of our lord once again thank you for answering our lord's call so well good evening it's uh been a month since we last came together on a first friday and uh what a day that was right the first day of the new year of 2021 the feast the solemnity of mary the mother of god and also the first friday of january and the first day of the year what a privileged day that it was indeed and just for a little recap we talked about a few things one thing that we refer to was the operation apparitions of our lady of good success from quito ecuador and how significant those apparitions to mariana de jesus toures was and that she saw the sins of the 20th century and that they were very serious grave sins and there were three swords that represented the sins of the 20th century for which the 20th century would be punished and those are heresy blasphemy and impurity she also was given the option she actually died and was pronounced dead and was before the throne of jesus as a saint in eternity and jesus gave her the option to live in heavenly bliss which is our eternal goal of course or to return to earth and make reparation for the sins of the 20th century of course this the saint that she is saint that she was she returned to earth and grew in further union with jesus and made reparation for our own day and age we also talked about margaret mary alikoc and the four key mystical visions that she had and his father chris mentioned that she is known as by jesus himself the beloved disciple of my sacred heart now could you imagine being given the title by jesus the king of the universe second person of the trinity the word made incarnate beloved disciple of my sacred heart it should remind us of john the beloved disciple who rested his head on the breast of jesus and so did margaret mary alicock and some a few of her visions as well i want to return to one of those visions that i had mentioned at that time margaret mary said that during the day and it was during corpus christi during the octave and she was before the blessed sacrament of our lord and she received from god extraordinary proofs of his love and she was wanting to make some return for this great love and jesus said to her you could not show me any greater love than by doing what you have already done so many times which i've demanded of you and then brother mark could probably show the second slide or the first one and he opened his chest and his veil and and with his divine heart said behold this is the heart which is so loved men that it spared nothing even going so far to his exhaust and consume itself to prove to them it's love that's the god of wonders that we have that took on human flesh and has exhausted himself and poured himself out but then he says and but in return i receive from the greater part of men nothing but ingratitude by contempt irreverence sacrileges and coldness with which they treat me in this sacrament of love but what is still more painful to me is that even souls consecrated to me are acting in this way so i touched briefly we talked about this briefly uh on january 1st the first friday of the year about how we can we talked about the need for us to make reparation we talked about being chosen souls and you're a chosen soul or you wouldn't be here me reading just simply that paragraph you would have already signed off in disdain contempt coldness ingratitude and indifference if you were not a chosen soul so this vision is extremely significant in saint margaret mary we see in her she wants to give something back to jesus because she has tasted the sweetness and the delight of his love and who he is as a being and person she's seeing the depths of the vision almost not not the full beatific vision but the a profound mystical vision she's living in union with him she's having this profound ecstasy penetrating the depths of his heart the depths of his love and more importantly he's penetrating her and she's receiving him into her heart and jesus was pleased with her because she wants to make this return of love again calling her the beloved disciple of his sacred heart but what is it that offends jesus notice that no particular sin is actually mentioned here he didn't say flat out sin is what offends me we know that sin offends him we know that it's an offense but even more than that it's the ingratitude the indifference the coldness the contempt that he experiences after the god of universe has become one of us so small and so little incarnate in the womb of the blessed virgin mary uniting divinity to our humanity so that we too can participate in his divinity not only for now not only in temporal time but for all of eternity and my brothers and sisters i think we lose sight of this rightfully so to a degree rightfully so we hear talk about flattening the curve flattening the curve during this pandemic flattening curve of a virus that is having an effect on many people it's affected our very own community and has affected us here since you saw us last month father chris has had coveted 15 of us have have coveted and we are offering this night tonight for our spiritual patriarch father sierra famikolenko who has been in the hospital a great apostle of divine mercy an incredible man my spiritual father spiritual director a spiritual father to all of us in this community and he's not in the best of shape and we're asking for your prayers for him and we're dedicating this night to him but what affects and offends jesus the most is the ingratitude more than it does the sins now let's turn to saint faustina and see what she has to say does this not sound almost identical to what saint margaret mary alicock says these are two sisters of the heart of jesus in his divine mercy and his divine love and they experience the intimacy the closeness the nearness this his father's father chris said that his heart burns and clamors for the flames of his love are burning him clamoring to be spent in 367 to saint faustina and bear with me this paragraph is worth reading it's a little lengthy but my heart overflows with great mercy for souls especially poor sinners if only they could understand that i am the best of fathers to them and that it is for them that the blood and water flowed forth from my heart as from a fount overflowing with mercy for them i dwell in a tabernacle as king of mercy i desired to bestow my graces upon souls but they do not want to accept them you at least come to me as often as possible and take those graces they do not want to accept in this way you will console my heart oh how indifferent our souls do so much goodness to so many proofs of love my heart drinks only of the ingratitude and forgetfulness of souls living in the world they have time for everything but they have no time to come to me for graces and that's the heart of reparation and consolation of jesus coming to him expressing our love our gratitude our thankfulness our trust our dependency upon him but it's not always easy i know jesus also tells faustina if all the sins of the world whereupon a soul one drop of mercy would be enough to save it all the sins of the entire world brothers and sisters this is only a god of mercy but it's difficult right sometimes it's difficult because we pull back we're afraid of our own weaknesses we're afraid of our own sinfulness we feel not worthy we feel that we can't approach jesus at times maybe we grow indifferent at times maybe we get burdened maybe we have a loss in life that cuts right to the heart that we don't know that we can recover from so we distance ourselves we stay away this isn't entirely uncommon to our human condition even the saints go through this i pondered whether or not i would share this experience and i think i'm being prompted to do so i was uh on retreat when i first entered the marians of the immaculate conception and we have eight day ignatian retreat very special time set apart with the lord in quiet solitude with him ignatian retreat for eight days is typically four meditations a day for one hour on sacred scripture and throughout these days the lord showed me and i can't i came into this and still not feeling worthy of religious life and you know i failed in this area lord and can i do this i'm afraid i don't know if i can do this or not lord i don't know if i'm the one that you should be calling here and for eight for six days jesus showed me meditation after meditation four meditations a day jason you're so precious to me i love you i've chosen you as he's chosen you brothers and sisters and our lord knows how to speak to us and i was getting mental pictures and images not visions just mental normal prayer mental images and he took me to the place that i loved the most the beach and we were sitting at a table under a canopy umbrella talking and at this point in the retreat i was knew his love he had shown me his love he showed me how much he loves me i'd entered at intimacy of his heart as we were talking we had two drinks in our hands and were they are actually the drinks of my heart i had my heart and he had his and there was a straw in each of those hearts and he looked me in the eyes and said jason i would like to drink from your heart and i said oh no lord you can't drink from my heart it's darkened it's so small it's little it knows not how to love and i look over at his heart and it's this big luscious you've been to the beach and you see the big pina colada type things but it's this red i guess it would be a daiquiri type drink and it's full and he wants to give me his heart and he asked me again i want to drink from your heart and i extended my little darkened heart to him with this itty-bitty straw and he drank from it and i kind of hesitantly looked up into his eyes into my absolute surprise i saw him delight in the drink of my heart and i was astonished and next he extended his heart to me and i took a drink from his heart the big luscious heart ripe full plump and i drank from his heart and my whole entire being was flooded with absolute delight and i was like oh lord wow i have had some good drinks in my day but i ain't ever had a drink like that before we continued to engage with one another and i continued to drink from his heart and what i recognized is the more that i drank from his heart the sweeter the drink of my heart became to him and that's what consoling the heart of jesus is about that's what making reparation is about but sometimes we pull back and we're fearful and timid we might think oh well the saints they had it easy they were saints but no the saints know too yes saint margaret mary alicock and saint faustina were given extraordinary graces to be able to peer into the depths of the heart the core the inner sanctuary the holy holy of jesus christ himself on another vision to saint margaret mary alako jesus asked her can you at least console me by supplying for their ingratitude as far as you are able now she said vision after vision after vision listen to her response she she i expressed to him my inability my weakness and he replied behold this will supply for all that is wanting to you and she she accounts that at this time his divine heart being opened there issued forth a flame so ardent that i thought i should be consumed for i was wholly penetrated with it and being no longer able to bear it i besought him to have pity on my weakness and he said to me i will be your strength fear nothing so the saints come in weakness as well he also said to her my well beloved i give you a precious token of my love having closed with clothe enclosed within your side a little spark of its glowing flames that it may serve for a heart and consume you to the last moment of your life its ardour will never be exhausted brothers and sisters he gave her a flame from his very own heart and embedded it in her side and promised her that this flame would burn perpetually throughout all of her life inflaming her heart with an ardor that she doesn't have of herself and you know what i don't have it and you don't have it and none of us have it in and of ourselves because in and of ourselves we're a mere speck and that's what the great saints recognize they recognize their littleness in the sight of divine majesty who is infinite and they bow in humility at the wonders of his love and his being those who have eyes to see and ears to hear but how can we see lord unless you give us sight unless you give us ears to hear how can we see and how can we hear you see we're completely dependent upon him and we feel farther away when we feel far away there's a prescription to draw close there truly is there's prescription to counter our weaknesses that draw him down that he can't even resist us those keys are as i mentioned dependence which relates to trust and we see that inscribed in the image of divine mercy jesus i trust in you it's our prescription for hope it's a prescription for courage it's our prescription to lift our eyes up higher when we are pulled down into the mud in the mire and the quicksand and we feel heavy laden and burdened and he looks us back in the eyes and says take my yoke upon you for my burden is easy and my yoke is light did i get that right father chris but our lord gets it right because he knows what yoke we need and he knows when we're burdened and he's taken the burden upon himself first but we tend to pull back and distrust that's the sin of our first parents in their pride they distrusted the word of god brothers and sisters i'm begging you if you want to be a saint trust in god the second key is gratitude let's go back and listen to the quote again of saint margaret mary alicoque and in return i received from the greater part of men nothing but ingratitude so what's the antithesis of ingratitude gratitude thankfulness acknowledging what he does what he gives how generous he is to us i receive nothing but ingratitude by the contempt or hatred irreverence sacrileges and coldness with which they treat me in this sacrament of love so we're going to counter tonight ingratitude with thanksgiving and praise and we know that eucharist ukrates dia means thanksgiving we are going to counter contempt and hatred with adoration because thankfulness and adoration console and mend and make reparation to his heart we are going to counter irreverence with reverence and awe we are going to be in eucharistic ah eucharistic amazement as john paul ii the great taught us and instead of coldness the coldness that we hear to the church in lao ducea where jesus says i would prefer to be hot or cold but not warm and indifferent i spew you out of my mouth be one or the other and tonight we are going to bring the ardor and pray for the flame that was given to saint margaret mary alacoque and that's given to saint faustina and we shall not shy away because we trust in him we trust in his goodness and his love for us and he will fire a flame in us a flame that we can take out to others because that's our culinary that's our mission and that's our mission in making reparation take to take a fire a flame of love out to others and to allow them to see that flame of love for our lord burning in you let us draw together tonight in trust in love thanksgiving adoration jesus is not afraid of your sins jesus is not afraid of your weaknesses come to him with your weaknesses and sins just as you are and he will give you peace open the eyes of my heart lord brother jason mentioned we especially offer in this hour our most beloved patriarch father seraphim as he struggles in health we ask that your healing and consoling hand be with him lord and we ask that all of you here with us not to worry if you do not know what the first friday devotion is we will walk you through it just join us just open your hearts and let's make reparation to the sacred heart of jesus so that it can gush forth the blood and the water of divine mercy upon the world [Music] we fall down we lay our crowns at the feet of jesus the greatness of his mercy and love at the feet of jesus and we cry holy holy holy we cry holy holy [Music] is fall down we lay our crowns at the feet of jesus the greatness of his mercy and love at the feet of jesus and we cry holy holy [Music] we cry holy holy is there oh lord jesus we come before you this evening and of your majesty and awe of your love for us when we lay the crowns that you have bestowed upon us with royal dignity that you have given us from your love as baptized children of the father bestowing your divinity your divine nature upon us counting us royal and we lay our crowns at your feet we thank you for who you are we are so little yet you think so much of us desiring us longing for our love longing for our hearts lord remove any fear and obstacles that we have in our hearts that would impede us from drawing from your fount of divine mercy from your fount of love instill in us through your holy spirit in intercession of our tender mother confidencing you in so many ways you've shown us your goodness your varied goodness throughout all of creation and in our personal lives drawing close to us time and time again this night lord jesus we lay our crowns down and we beg to be able to experience you anew this night you promised in the gospel of john that you would send the paraclete the holy spirit the advocate to fill us so that we could cry out abba father jesus lead us in to the love of the father seeing you as seeing the father seeing your open heart seeing your sacrifice of love upon the cross where you pour yourself out entirely for us where we renew that incredible mystery of your love for us where you gave your whole entire life body blood soul and divinity so that we might become partakers in your heavenly glory lord jesus we thank you we praise you we adore you we glorify you let our humble meek prayer from little humble meek hearts be a consolation and reparation to you jesus we love you jesus we love you and we embrace your love for us [Music] who am i that the lord of all the earth would care to know my name [Music] [Music] not because of who i am but because of what you've done not because of what i've done but because of who you are i am a flower quickly fading here today begun tomorrow a wave tossed in the ocean you you hear me when i'm calling you catch me as i'm falling you told me who i am i am yours i am yours [Music] who am i that the eyes that see my sin [Music] would look on me with love and watch me rise again who am i that the voice that come the sea would come this rain in me and calm the storm in me not because of who i am are i am a flower quickly fading here today but gone [Music] you lord you hear me when i'm calling you catch me as i'm falling you told me who i am i am yours i am yours at this time we would like to fulfill our lord's request of the first friday devotion when our lord washed the feet of the apostles he said do you have any idea what i have just done for you when we make this reparation ask for forgiveness of our sins and we fulfill through a spiritual communion this first friday i don't know if any of us have any idea what our lord can do with that grace praise be for each and every one of you who has answered this call directly from our lord jesus christ to fulfill this devotion the devotion as given by jesus to saint margaret mary is for nine consecutive first fridays to receive him in holy communion with the intent to make reparation for the sins and ingratitude of mankind that has wounded his sacred heart we know that many are unable to receive the sacrament of holy communion due to quarantine sickness or closed churches as our beautiful gift of the catechism tells us we are able to fulfill this obligation through an act of contrition asking for forgiveness of our sins and an act of spiritual communion begging our lord to unite with him in the most holy eucharist we must have the intent to return to the actual sacrament as soon as possible but until then we have fulfilled this most precious devotion and obligation so please join us as we will do an act of contrition in an act of spiritual communion and if this is your first month it starts today is month number one if you joined us last month this is our second month of first fridays on our way god willing to nine consecutive first fridays we begin with an act a brief examination of conscience just ask lord the lord in the holy spirit to come into your heart how have you offended him in any way how have we not loved our neighbor as god has loved us have we loved our lord with all our heart mind soul and strength or have we loved ourselves more have we loved our neighbor as ourselves or have we loved our neighbor less let's take a brief second to recall to our mind our sins let us now ask for forgiveness of our sins through the confiture and an act of contrition i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fault therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life amen [Music] lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy lord have mercy heart of love jesus us have mercy on us heart of jesus source of justice and love have mercy on us lord have mercy christ and mercy lord have mercy lord have mercy christ and mercy lord have mercy of jesus oh wisdom and knowledge have mercy on us lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy [Music] jesus gentle heart jesus humble heart jesus touch our hearts lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy [Music] our lord asked on these nine consecutive fridays to receive him in holy communion if you have been able to do so you have fulfilled that obligation we now join with all those unable through the act of spiritual communion the church teaches that these graces of union with our lord will be given let us pray in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen amen an act of spiritual communion and thanksgiving my dearest jesus i believe that you are present in the most holy sacrament i love you above all things and i desire to receive you into my soul since i cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally come at me spiritually into my heart i embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself holy to you never permit me to be separated from you and a reading from the diary of saint faustina this is diary entry number 177 after holy communion i suddenly saw the lord jesus who said to me with great kindness my daughter look at my merciful heart as i fix my gaze on the most sacred heart the same rays of light as are represented in the image as blood and water came forth from it and i understood how great is the lord's mercy and again jesus said to me with kindness my daughter speak to priests about this inconceivable mercy of mine the flames of my mercy are burning me clamoring to be spent i want to keep pouring them out upon souls souls don't want to believe in my goodness suddenly jesus disappeared but throughout the whole day my spirit remained immersed in god's tangible presence when the music fades and all this stripped away and i simply caught longing just to bring something that's of worth that'll bless your heart [Music] i'll bring you more than a song for a song in itself it's not what you have required you search much deeper within the way things appear you're looking into our heart i'm coming back to the heart of worship where it's all about you it's all about you jesus i'm sorry lord for the things i've made when it's all about you all about you jesus king of endless worth whom no one can express how much [Music] all i have is yours every single breath i'll bring you more than a song for a song in itself it's not what you have required you search much deeper within the way things appear you're looking into our hearts [Music] and it's all about you all about you jesus and i'm sorry lord for the things i've made when it's all about you [Music] all about you jesus it's all about you [Music] jesus oh lord jesus you are so good to us you are pure mercy itself we delight in the drink of your heart we delight in you we delight in your love and we are so humbled by your delight in us and we give you thanks we honor you we praise you we worship you we adore you we stand in place of all those who do not worship love and adore you we pray that you touch hearts and draw
