[Music] [Music] so you [Music] is [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] me [Music] we thank all of you for joining us today during this the hour of great mercy at the national shrine of the divine mercy on first saturday from this day on on first saturdays we will be having adoration at the three o'clock hour ask all of you to please join with us on that first saturday you'll hear more about this and future plans from father chris beginning at about 3 30 to 3 45 after the chaplet of divine mercy we have been for a number of weeks maybe six or eight weeks now at this hour seven days a week we have been praying the chaplet an ovina of chaplets of divine mercy for to the holy spirit asking the holy spirit with the intention of granting us god's grace for justice in our nation and in our church today we start again with that novena the first day of it and the intention is for justice in our nation in church and we pray for the gift of fear of the lord come holy spirit fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love send forth your spirit and they shall be created you shall be the face of the earth blessed are those who fear the lord who walk in his ways whenever scripture speaks of the fear of the lord we notice that it never mentions it on its own as if fear could by itself bring our faith to perfection but of the true fear of the lord we read quote come listen to me i will teach you the fear of the lord end quote the fear of god then is something to be learned because it is taught its origins are found by way of teaching and not in fright we find it in obeying the com the commandments in doing the good deeds of a blameless life in coming to know the truth and not in moments of human terror all our fear of god is inspired and perfected by love by the gift of the holy spirit may we be overwhelmed by the greatness and goodness of god and avoid all sin and attachment to created things so that each of us may be a living sign of the gospel for all people to see let us pray heavenly father from this beginning of time you have prepared the way of salvation for the human race wounded by sin and death through your inspired word you have taught that the fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom by the gift of the holy spirit may we walk always along the path you have revealed following your counsels conforming ourselves to your commands and trusting your promises as heralds of a new pentecost we make our prayer through christ our lord mary temple of the holy spirit pray for us we also continue with our daily novena of chaplets in this hour of great mercy here at the shrine for jesus's messages from jesus's messages to saint faustina and particular days and particular people that our lord asked her to pray the chaplet for today the second of january saturday is the seventh day of that novena of chaplets we begin with saint faustina's prayer for sinners o jesus eternal truth our life i call upon you and i beg your mercy for poor sinners o sweetest heart of my lord full of pity and unfathomable mercy i plead with you for poor sins o most sacred heart fount of mercy from which gushed forth rays of inconceivable graces upon the entire human race i beg of you light reports for sinners oh jesus be mindful of your own bitter passion and do not permit the loss of souls redeemed at so dear price of your most precious blood oh jesus when i consider the great price of your blood i rejoice at its immensity for one drop alone would have been enough for the salvation of all sinners although sin is an abyss of wickedness and ingratitude the price paid for us can never be equal therefore let every soul trust in the passion of the lord and place its hope in his mercy god will not deny his mercy to anyone heaven and earth may change but god's mercy will never be exhausted or what immense joy burns in my heart when i contemplate your incomprehensible goodness o jesus i desire to bring all sinners to your feet that they may glorify your mercy throughout endless ages amen today the seventh day of this novena our lord said to saint faustina today bring to me the souls who especially venerate and glorify my mercy and immerse them in my mercy these souls sorrowed most over my passion and entered most deeply into my spirit they are living images of my compassionate heart these souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life not one of them will go into the fire of hell i shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death most merciful jesus whose heart is love itself receive into the abode of your most compassionate heart the souls of those who particularly extol and venerate the greatness of your mercy these souls are mighty with the very power of god himself in the midst of all afflictions and adversities they go forward confident of your mercy and united to you o jesus they carry all mankind on their shoulders these souls will not be judged severely but your mercy will embrace them as they depart from this life eternal father turn your merciful gaze upon the souls who glorify and venerate your greatest attribute that of your fathomless mercy and who are enclosed in the most compassionate heart of jesus these souls are a living gospel their hands are full of deeds of mercy and their hearts overflowing with joy seeing a canticle of mercy to you almost high i beg you o god show them your mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in you let there be accomplished in them the promise of jesus who said to them that during their life but especially at the hour of death the souls who will venerate this fatimless mercy of his he himself will defend as his glory amen the chaplet of the divine mercy in the name of mercy in us that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent but with great confidence submit ourselves to your holy will which is love and mercy amen amen a prayer for divine mercy for the whole world and for our church o greatly merciful god infinite goodness today all mankind calls out from the abyss of this misery dear mercy to your compassion oh god and it is with his mighty voice of misery that it cries out gracious god do not reject the prayer of this earth's exiles o lord goodness beyond our understanding who are acquainted with our misery through and know through by our own power we cannot ascend to you we implore you and dissipate us with your graces and keep on increasing your mercy in us that we may faithfully do your holy will all through our life and a death hour let the omnipotence of your mercy shield us from the darts of our salvation's enemies that we may with confidence as your children await your final coming that day known to you alone and we expect to obtain everything you promised us in spite of all our wretchedness for jesus is our hope through his merciful heart amen in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen please remain with us in adoration of our lord through this medium through this internet streaming please remain with us and the lord very shortly we will be hearing a dissertation from father seraphim and also from father chris aylar so please remain with us hmm as we continue this time of the first saturday's devotion we ask that all of you that are with us to participate in our lady's request to offer up reparation for the sin and ingratitude of mankind and especially for the blasphemies to her immaculate heart all of those who have been chosen by our lord to participate in this most important work of ministry and charity and evangelization we unite with all of you from around the world as we now lead you in reparation to the immaculate heart of mary for the blasphemies against her most immaculate heart shortly father seraphim will give a reflection but prior to his reflection let us lead you now in what our lady asked us to do today being a first saturday especially of the new year heaven through our blessed mother mary has asked us for five consecutive saturdays the first saturday of five consecutive months to go to confession now remember sacramental confession with a priest in person is the preferred way but if you are unable to go to confession through to close churches or if you are homebound or sick catechism 1451 tells us that we can make an act of contrition an act of contrition telling the lord that we are sorry and that we will try to refrain from sin the intent to then as soon as possible to go to sacramental confession the next time that we are able and it is available so the first condition for the first saturday is join with me now as we make an act of contrition o my god i am heartily sorry for having offended thee and i detest all my sins because of your just punishments but most of all because they offend you my lord who are all good and deserving of all my love i firmly resolve with the help of your grace to sin no more to do my penance and to avoid the near occasion of sin amen we want to offer up sacramental confession or the act of contrition with the intent of reparation to our lady mother mary for the blasphemies against her sacred her immaculate heart next our lady asks us to receive holy communion if you have received holy communion sacramentally at mass as the preferred way you can now offer up your intent for it to be in reparation we call it a reparation of communion or a communion of reparation again for the blasphemies against the immaculate heart of mary if you have received sacramental communion or you will tomorrow at mass please make this act of communion of reparation just offering to marry that communion in reparation for the sins and ingratitude of mankind our own sins the sins of the whole world and the blasphemies against her immaculate heart if you are unable due to being homebound or sick or closed churches many nations are still without churches being opened we invite you now to join us in a spiritual communion and thanksgiving in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen my dearest jesus i believe that you are present in the most holy sacrament i love you above all things and i desire to receive you into my soul since i cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally come at least spiritually into my heart i embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself holy to you never permit me to be separated from you amen as with the act of contrition with the spiritual communion the church teaches that we receive this grace if our hope if our heart is disposed properly and we are in a state of grace with the intent to receive holy communion sacramentally as soon as possible with these first two requests of our lady we have now completed them for this first saturday that of confession and communion we will now hear from father seraphim in his reflection on the immaculate heart of mary and the first saturday devotion and then following father seraphin's reflection we invite you to stay with us as we make a solemn act of consecration to the immaculate heart of mary followed by the last two requests that she made at fatima that being the praying of the rosary which we will do and preceding that before the rosary we will do a meditation that our lady asked at least 15 minutes that we meditate on the mysteries of the rosary and we will do that at 4 30. so at 4 30 again will be a meditation that i will guide you through do not please be anxious we will walk and guide you through this meditation that will be at least 15 minutes to fulfill our lady's request and we will follow that at five o'clock with the rosary and benediction of the most blessed sacrament now before that we offer this time the father seraphim will reflect for us on the graces and the gift of our lady mother mary in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee bless that thou among women to the wishes of our lady communicated to us by the children of fatima in 1917. it was on the 13th of may of that year that high up on the slope in the kovada area the children were playing at building a little stone wall around a clump of furs suddenly they saw what seemed to be a flash of lightning we'd better go home lucy said to her cousins that's lightning we may have a thunderstorm we take this from sister lucia's writings we began to go down the slope hurrying the sheep along towards the road we were more or less halfway down the slope and almost leveled with a large home oak tree lady all dressed in white she was more brilliant than the sun and radiated a light more clear and more intense than a crystal glass filled with sparkling water when the rays of the burning sun shine through it we stopped astounded before the apparition we were so close just a few feet from her that we were bathed in the light which surrounded her or rather which radiated from her then our lady spoke to us do not be afraid i will do you no harm and they asked where are you from i am from heaven what do you want of me lucy said i have come to ask you to come here for six months in succession on the 13th day at the same hour later on i will tell you who i am and what i want afterwards i will return here yet a seventh time and then they asked a question said our blessed mother answered shall i go to heaven too yes you will and jacinta she will go also and francesco he will go there too but he must say many rosaries then i remembered to ask about two girls who had died recently they were friends of mine and used to come to my home to learn weaving with my oldest sister is maria dashnevs in heaven yes she is i think she was above 16 years old and amelia she will be in purgatory until the end of the world and parentheses she writes it seems to me that she was between 18 and 20 years of age and our lady said are you willing to offer yourselves to god and bear all the sufferings he wills to send you as an act of reparation for the sins by which he is offended and of supplication for the conversion of sinners yes we are willing then you are going to have much to suffer but the grace of god will be your comfort as she pronounced these last words the grace of god will be your comfort our lady opened her hands for the first time communicating to us a light so intense as at it streamed from her hands its rays penetrated our hearts and the innermost depths of our souls making us see ourselves in god who was that light more clearly than we see ourselves in the best of murderers then moved by an interior impulse that was also communicated to us we fell on our knees repeating in our hearts almost holy trinity i adore you my god my god i love you in the most blessed sacrament after a few moments our lady spoke again pray the rosary every day in order to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war then she began to rise serenely going up towards the east until she disappeared in the immensity of space the light that surrounded her seemed to open up a path before her in the firmament and for this reason we sometimes said that we saw heaven opening sister lucy continues i think that i have already explained in my account of jacinta or else in a letter that the fear which we felt was not really fear of our lady but rather fear of the thunderstorm which we thought was coming and it was from this that we sought to escape the apparitions of our lady inspired neither fear nor fright but rather surprise when i was asked if i had experienced fear and i said that we had i was referring to the fear we felt when we saw the flashes of lightning and thought that a thunderstorm was at hand it was from this that we wish to escape as we were used to seeing lightning only when it thundered besides the flashes of lightning were not really lightning but the reflected rays of a light which was approaching it was because we saw the light that we sometimes said we saw our lady coming but properly speaking we only perceived our lady in that light when she was already on the home oak tree the fact that we did not know how to explain this and that we wish to avoid questions causes us to say sometimes that we saw her coming and other times that we did not when we saw her coming we were referring to the approach of the light which after all was herself and when we had said we did not see her coming we were referring to the fact that we really saw our lady only when she was on the whole milk when i read this the remembrance came that the sister the religious sister who was the postulator for the causes of jacinta and francesco gave us a talk at marion helper center and she mentioned about this light coming from the hands of our lady enveloping the children and they felt they were filled with god and that impressed me so that i asked her to enlighten me further on it so she sent me the writings of sister lucy and marked all the places where that phenomenon was related and she continued writing about the 13th of june as soon as jacinta francesco and i had finished praying the rosary with a number of other people who were present we saw once more the flash reflecting the reflecting the light which was approaching which we called lightning the next moment our lady was there on the whole milk exactly the same as in may and she considered continued writing as she was doing it for the bishop now your excellency another thought comes to my mind i have sometimes been asked if in any of the apparitions our lady pointed out to us which kinds of sins offended god most they say that jacinta when in lisbon mentioned sins of the flesh she had often questioned me on this matter and i think now that when in lisbon where she was in hospital perhaps it occurred to her to put the question to our lady herself and that this was the answer she received well your excellency it seems to me that i have now made known the first part of the secret the second part refers to the devotion to the immaculate heart of mary as i have already written in the second account our lady told me on june the 13th 1917 that she would never forsake me and that her immaculate heart would be my refuge and the way that would lead me to god as she spoke these words she opened her hands and from them streamed a light that penetrated to our inmost hearts i think that on that day the main purpose of this light was to infuse within us a special knowledge and love for the immaculate heart of mary just as on the other two occasions it was intended to do as it seems to me with regard to god and the mystery of the most holy trinity from that day onwards our hearts were filled with a more ardent love for the immaculate art of mary from time to time jacinta said to me the lady said that her immaculate heart will be our refuge and the way that will lead you to god don't you love that her heart is so good how i love it as i explained earlier our lady told us in the july secret that god wished to establish in the world devotion to her immaculate heart and that to prevent and that to prevent a future war she would come to ask for the consecration of russia to her immaculate heart and for the communion of reparation on the first saturdays from then on whenever we spoke of this among ourselves jacinta said i am so grieved to be unable to receive communion in reparation for the sins committed against the immaculate heart of mary i have also mentioned already how jacinta chose from the litany of ejaculations which father crews suggested to us this one sweetheart of mary be my salvation after saying it she used to add sometimes with the simplicity that was natural to her i so love the immaculate heart of mary it is the heart of our dear mother in heaven don't you love saying many times over sweetheart of mary immaculate heart of mary i love it so much so very much at other times as she gathered wild flowers she sang a little tune that she made up herself as she went along sweetheart of mary be my salvation immaculate heart of mary convert sinners save souls from hell the reason that phenomenon of the light penetrating the children interested me because i'm in the process of preparing a book with a professor in poland on the full explanation of the image of jesus the divine mercy and we find out from sister faustino's confessor that not everything in the image is as sister faustina wished or described particularly as concerns the rays on the image one of our priests got in touch with father sapochko and asked sister faustina insisted that the race should be depicted as coming out of the image towards the viewer why didn't the artist do that after some time he received an answer this was during the communist times in poland so the mail wasn't always very quick the answer came back he didn't know how and so pondering over these experiences of the children i believe the meaning of the rays to be represented as coming forth from the uncovered side pierced by the lambs that the rays were to come out and envelop the viewer and we say well how can that happen we have to remember that sacred images are really the presence of the mystery or the person represented on it and so when we read on the very first page of the first notebook of sister faustina's diary she speaks of the command received to paint the image according to the vision she saw and then in the second verse she says here you established the throne of mercy and that refers to the ark of the covenant which was the central place among the chosen people after they were released from the bondage of egypt and were headed towards the promised land that symbolized the presence of god in the midst of his people and as the trappist father who wrote three huge volumes as a commentary on the gospel of saint matthew pointed out in the passage where the lord is returning from canaan where he went to drive out the demon from the canaanite woman's daughter he came out of the pagan land crossed near a lake and went up a mountain there he sat down and all people of all kinds of sicknesses brought to him and he healed them all and the commentator pointed out that saint matthew wrote it in such a way using the verbs in a particular way that did not see the ark of the covenant being carried through the desert but that it was alive and walked and that really the ark of the covenant the presence of god among his people was jesus himself and that the ark only represented it in figure before the lord was revealed and led his people to the promised land and so the rays coming forth are the rays that is called the shekinah glory by which means god appeared to moses beneath the wings of the cherubs on the cover of the ark of the covenant the cover on which the bread of the blood of atonement was sprinkled by the high priest once a year when he entered the holy of holies depicted in the tent that god ordered him to construct by the gifts of the people so that he would be in the midst of his people and it was from this uncreated light called the shekinah glory that god communed with moses and directed him to direct the people and here sister faustina mentions that precisely this image that she was commanded to paint is to represent that throne of mercy as the scriptures call the golden lid on the ark of the covenant where the blood of atonement was sprinkled in the old testament it was the blood of a lamb but it was jesus called the lamb of god by john the baptist meaning the supreme sacrifice the image that figure of that sacrifice which jesus was to become and so the lid on the ark of the covenant had to be beaten out to the shape to form a cover on the ark of the covenant which was the propitiation the proficient artery where the blood was sprinkled upon and that was the figure of jesus who was flagellated and wounded and the saint paul points out to us he is the propitiation for our sins and he mentions in his in the gospels that he is that temple that was to be destroyed and in three days restored and saint john says he spoke about his body he is the true proficient the pre seat of propitiation and in that way as our savior he is in our midst and so those rays of the uncreated light that instructed moses are depicted as two rays of light coming from the open side of christ and our lord explained that the red ray represents the cells of the blood that carry oxygen from the lungs to every cell of the body to give it life and the pale rays as he called them symbolized the serum that separated from the blood after a person's death and its main purpose is to remove the results of metabolism in every cell to carry out from the body the things that if they were trapped in the cells would cause gangrene and could be removed only by operation and so the lord points out to us that those rays precisely represent the holy eucharist with its double service of cleansing every cell and replenishing it with life-giving oxygen which is breathed in as we draw air into us and the lungs take out the oxygen and the blood carries it to the cells but then in the epistle to the hebrews the fridge cardinal vanois is the catholic expert he points out what saint john chrysostom taught that there has to be an entrance into the holy of holies in the very holy of holies in heaven the place of god's residence and what is that entrance it's the first part of the tent of the covenant and that is a figure of jesus in his human flesh who then left himself to us in the holy eucharist and it is by being joined to jesus by receiving the holy eucharist that we pass through the curtain into the holy of holies into the very presence of the holy trinity he is that vehicle of our union with god and as the epistle points out further jesus did not enter the tent made by human hands but to the one of which the tent was a figure namely the holy of holies in heaven where god resides and there is where he brought his blood meaning his life given his sacrifice for us that was our salvation and he is that salvation because it is in his very name that the angel announced to joseph and mary yeshua and it means god is salvation and so when we say the name of jesus that is what we profess and he is that life and when we receive him he carries us into the presence of the father through the power of the holy spirit and that is our sanctification and so here we see how many times when a lady appeared and whenever she opened her hands in the rays of light shown through them they were filled with the holy spirit in the third apparition the presence of the supernatural made itself felt more intensely still lucy writes for several days even francesco did not venture to speak later he said i love to see the angel but the worst of it is that afterwards we are unable to do anything i couldn't even walk i don't know what was the matter with me in spite of that after the third apparition of the angel it was he who noticed that it was getting dark and who drew our attention to the fact and thought we should take our flocks back home once the first few days were over and we had returned to normal francisco asked the angel gave you holy communion but that was but what was it that he gave to jacinta and me it was holy communion too replied jacinta with inexpressible joy didn't you see that it was the blood that fell from the host i felt that god was within me but i did not know how then prostrating on the ground he and his sister remained for a long time saying over and over again the prayer of the angel most holy trinity father son and holy spirit etc little by little the atmosphere of the supernatural faded away and by the 13th of may they were playing with almost as much enjoyment freedom of spirit as they had done before further on lucy writes didn't our lady say that we would have much to suffer to make reparation to our lord and to her own immaculate heart for all the sins by which they are offended they are so sad if we can console them with these sufferings how happy we shall be [Applause] after the second operation on july on june 13 1917 francesca was deeply impressed by the light which as i related in the second account our lady communicated to us at the moment when she said my immaculate heart will be your refuge and the way which will lead you to god at the time he did not seem to grasp the significance of what was happening perhaps because it was not given to him to hear the accompanying words for this reason he asked later why did our lady have a heart in her hand spreading out over the world that great light which is god you were with our lady in the light which went down towards the earth and jacinta was with me in the light which rose towards heaven that is lucy answered because you and jacinta will soon go to heaven while i with the immaculate heart of mary will remain for some time longer on earth how many years longer would you stay here he asked i don't know quite a lot was there a lady who said so yes and i saw it in the light that she's shone into our hearts justin to confirm the very same thing saying it is just like that that's exactly how i saw it too and he remarked sometimes these people are so happy just because you told him that our lady wants the rosary said and that you are to learn to read how would they feel if they only knew what she showed to us in god in her immaculate heart in that great light but this is a secret it must not be spoken about is better that no one should know it after this apparition whenever they asked us if our lady had said anything else we began to give this reply yes she did but it's a secret our lady told us we were not to tell it to anybody thus referring to the secret imposed by our lady and so we see that these apparitions refer to us things that happened also recorded in the old covenant and our lord is repeating that again in the revelations to saint faustina and so the lord has given us these instruments of his devotion by which to draw us into his presence to remind us that he is in our midst and we learned recently that in poland the process for beatification was revealed to another nun a mystic in the same area where saint faustina was assigned near vilnius now in lithuania and the lord taught her the devotions to the divine mercy even before she met father portugal who was also in that area and then eventually became her spiritual mentor also and in the process of revealing those devotions to her and the lord told her you are going to complete the work of faustina she was told that in reciting the chaplet she could put in her intentions also so that when we say for the sake of his sorrowful passion have mercy on us then you can put other intentions there and then end with on the whole world the theologian who examined faustino's writings declared a judgment that he thought that was only for sister faustina but it seems that our lord revealed through this other nun that we are able to put people or things that we are asking for have mercy on us on whatever else and end with and on the whole world of course when we recite the chapter together that would be a difficult thing to do but when we recite it individually we are certainly able to put there put our intentions there and this emphasizes again how powerful is the chapter of divine mercy because it is making present the fruit of our lord's sacrifice for us because we have to recall or find out that when the lord gave instructions for the painting of the image of the divine mercy he wanted these words to be connected with it the prayer he taught faustina o blood and water which gushed forth from the heart of jesus is the fount of mercy for us i trust in you but the confessor felt that there was no room on the image for that whole prayer and our lord said but these three words suffice yes he taught the prayer in polish the word upham contains the person i trust tobya means inu and so by saying those words we are placing emphasis on the blood and water and what is that that happens after a person's death where the blood separates into the red corpuscles and the serum and we just learned what those rays meant and so when we say when we address blood and water it is two things but in the polis the verb which gosh forth is in the singular and then at the very end i trust in you is in the singular and so the blood and water represents jesus in his act of highest love for offering his life for us and that is included in his name yeshua god is salvation and so we see the depth of these revelations which all steer to the holy eucharist as the means by which we enter into intimate union with god jesus himself being that first tent that passes through the curtain and saint paul says or saint john rather that when the curtain was split into at the moment of our lord's death it represented the opening of that which separated all from the holy of holies only the high priest once a year could enter there but with jesus's death for us in which he gives us all the fruits of his passion death and resurrection are ours so that we the believers that he lived suffered died and rose again and ascended to heaven have entrance into the very presence of god at any time whatever and the image itself primarily depicts him coming forth from the holy of holies in heaven not made by human hands to announce to us our salvation as he appeared in the cynical on the night he was risen from the dead peace unto you meaning all the good possible and all fulfillment in god is ours and so when we understand these things more deeply we see how all these revelations from heaven are geared to our good and they are all connected together and what our lady was able to show that she also is the vehicle of that light which is god which fills us completely and makes us feel so as francesca would say how i wish that we could see that continuously he felt so good knowing that they were filled with god and how good it made them feel so that they were strengthened to go through all the sufferings that the lord allowed them to go through as young as they were they're the youngest people to be declared saints confessors who are not martyrs in in the history of the church and they went when we hear their prayer their stories how they took every occasion possible at one point lucy said something and francisco said wait a minute our our lady said that we are to pray the rosary for peace in the world but that we are to offer our sacrifices for sinners and it was the vision of hell that our lady showed them that horrified them and showed how they took to heart that they didn't want anybody to go to hell and they went through such tremendous efforts on their part to offer sacrifices so that people would not fall into that place of torture time is going short there could be so much more said but let us realize what gifts god is giving us what understanding of his dealings with our nature our dealings with our ultimate salvation and how he wants all of us to be instruments with him in saving sinners that's his major project to which also through our lady he invites us to enter into and he gave us the prayers of holy trinity father son and holy spirit we adore you for those who do not do that etc and then the desire to fulfill the desires for the first saturdays of the month to say the rosary every day to offer our sufferings for sinners to ask for their salvation and to be united through jesus with the holy trinity for the benefit of souls through holy communion of reparation for all that is hurled against god against jesus against mary's immaculate heart in order that as say as saint francesco said i love god so much and i am so sorry that i want in every way to be able to console him and we do that by fulfilling the wishes as our lady reported them to us and so at the beginning of this year we rededicate ourselves to fulfill the wishes of our lady for the greater glory of god and certainly the reflection will be upon us we too will be enveloped by that light which is god and give us the true joy and fulfillment that the lord wants us to have so at this time we will complete the last two requirements that our lady gives to us to fulfill the devotion and the first saturday devotion that she gave to us at fatima that will consist of at least 15 minutes of meditation on the mysteries of the rosary which i will be leading in a moment through the glorious excuse me the joyful mysteries and then we will actually at 5 pm eastern time be praying the rosary together to fulfill that request of our lady at fatima but before we begin the meditations let us pray the fatima prayers and the prayer to saint joseph in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen amen the pardon prayer of fatima we pray three times my god i believe i adore i hope and i love thee and i beg pardon for those who do not believe do not adore do not hope and do not love thee my god i believe i adore i hope and i love thee and i beg pardon for those who do not believe do not adore do not hope and do not love thee my god i believe i adore i hope and i love thee and i beg pardon for those who do not believe do not adore do not hope and do not love thee the angel's prayer was given by the angel in 1916 to the three children of preparation for mary's visitation in 1917 and the angel's prayer of fatima is very close to our divine mercy chaplet prayer as father seraphim pointed out the power of this prayer of the divine mercy chaplet but join with me now in heart as i read the prayer of the angel's prayer given at fatima o most holy trinity father son and holy spirit i adore thee profoundly i offer thee the most precious body blood soul and divinity of jesus christ present in all the tabernacles of the world in reparation for the outrages sacrileges and indifferences by which he is offended by the infinite merits of the sacred heart of jesus and the immaculate heart of mary i beg the conversion of poor sinners the eucharistic prayer most holy trinity i adore thee my god my god i love thee in the most blessed sacrament the sacrifice prayer jesus it is for love of you for the conversion of sinners and in reparation for the sins committed against the immaculate heart of mary the decade prayer oh my jesus forgive us our sins save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven especially those in most need of thy mercy pope francis has declared this year a year of saint joseph in our talk this morning at 11 o'clock we pointed out how the sacred heart of jesus and the immaculate heart of mary are united and from that sacred heart of jesus pours forth the blood in the water of divine mercy and how all of it is connected and united let us not forget the role of saint joseph who many do not know appeared at fatima in the miracle of the son along with our lady of mount carmel saint joseph patron of the universal church i bring all of our viewers to the throne of christ through your intercession by the power invested in me in the most holy priesthood as the shepherd entrusted as father joseph the director of the association of marian helpers i bring to you all those who have joined with us in this mission all who have come and stepped forward and said yes we will join the marian helper army we will join in prayer on first friday and first saturday to make reparation to the most sacred heart of jesus and the immaculate heart of mary yes we will step forward we will stand for the truth we will pick up the sword of the rosary and make reparation for the blasphemies against the immaculate heart of mary saint joseph under your patronage i bring all of these marian helpers to you as father joseph entrusted to me i give to you i ask for your intercession in the lives of these marian helpers and those who have joined with us no matter what nation what country city or state whether they are new to divine mercy unfamiliar with the message confused by the message of the first friday or first saturday unsure what to do it does not matter they have entrusted to come here they have entrusted themselves into your hands mother chastisements are conditional saint faustina held back the hand of the angel that was ready to strike at poland for the sins against the dignity of human life please mother mary and through you saint joseph we beg and we plead to intercede for us hold back the hand of our lord that so justifiably so could strike with chastisement upon all of us individually and collectively as the body of christ but lord do not forget we are your body of christ please do not strike please we beg upon you through the reparation of the immaculate heart to the immaculate heart and to your most sacred heart that you have mercy on us and on the whole world every single person who is viewing right now mother mary whether it be live with us at this moment or on a replay of a recorded broadcast has come to you in response to the grace that was put on their heart by our lord please do not let that effort of cooperation with god's grace go unrewarded please bless them protect them guide them and ultimately lead them to your son and his most sacred heart please god our father send the holy spirit as john paul 2 said to renew this land please forgive us for our sins the sins that have wounded the heart of jesus and the heart of mary so deeply please accept this moment this day last night of first friday and today of first saturday in reparation for those sins and ingratitude our sins that have wounded the sacred heart and the blasphemies against the immaculate heart the blasphemies against the immaculate conception of our mother mary the blasphemies against her perpetual virginity the blasphemies against her divine motherhood the blasphemies of those who have incited children into indifference or hatred of our blessed mother and the blasphemies of those who have been sacrilegious to her images or her statues lord jesus you told us your divine mercy is our last hope we marian fathers who you have entrusted to spread the message of divine mercy to the world despite our brokenness and our sinfulness bring you today lord these thousands of souls when abraham asked if he finds 50 good people will you spare the city you said yes he said if he finds 40 will you spare the city you said yes he said if i find 30 will you spare the city you said yes lord we bring you so many more than 30 people we bring you tens of thousands we bring them to you all begging and reparation to forgive us our sins our personal sins done in private our sins of bad example in public and collectively our sins as a nation and as a world please join with me all of you at this time whether live or a recording at our hearts so lord jesus on this first saturday through the immaculate heart of mary we offer you our communion of reparation whether it was a spiritual communion or receiving of you in the most blessed sacrament we offer it to you for the atonement for the sins that we have committed and that of the whole world and on this saturday for reparation of the blasphemies against the immaculate heart of mary we confess our sins through our act of contrition or through the sacramental confession at our churches we now finish this prayer invoking the intercession of saint joseph to help us in this year dedicated to him and through the hands of his spouse our mother mary a prayer to saint joseph to you o blessed joseph do we come in our tribulation and having implored the help of your most holy spouse we confidently invoke your patronage also through that charity which bound you to the immaculate virgin mother of god and through the paternal love with which you embrace the child jesus we humbly beg you to graciously to regard the inheritance which jesus christ has purchased by his blood and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities almost watchful guardian of the holy family defend the chosen children of jesus christ o most loving father ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence oh our most mighty protector be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness as once you rescued the child jesus from deadly peril so now protect god's holy church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity shield to each one of us by your constant protection so that supported by your example and your aid we may be able to live piously to die in holiness and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven dear saint joseph as we finish this prayer we ask for your intercession to protect the family satan has targeted the family and the church and you are the patron of the universal church and you are the head of the holy family by the virtue of your patriarchy we ask that you protect our families from the wickedness and the snares of the devil saint joseph pray for us amen at this time we will do a meditation on the mysteries of the rosary fulfilling our lady's request of the last two elements or parts to the first saturday devotion i ask you to join me as we engage in the mystery the joyful mysteries you do not have to do anything but listen engage with us enter with us mentally as we guide you in a meditation on the joyful mysteries to fulfill our lady's request then we will complete it with the most holy rosary and benediction let us now enter into meditation on the joyful mysteries fulfilling our lady's request at fatima to pray the rosary and to meditate an additional 15 minutes with her in these mysteries in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen let us now enter into meditation on the mystery of the annunciation and the angel gabriel was sent from god into the city of galilee called nazareth to a virgin espouse to a man whose name was joseph of the house of david and the virgin's name was mary and the angel being come and the angel being come in said unto her hail full of grace the lord is with thee blessed art thou among women in the mystery of the annunciation the archangel gabriel salutes mary as full of grace the very first time she is mentioned in the gospel mary's name is linked with grace there never was and there never could be anyone like mary she was god's masterpiece and each of the three persons of the blessed trinity played some part in preparing mary for her sublime vocation as the mother of god what a glorious title mother of god and she is our mother too god the father accords her the dignity of daughterhood god the son awaits her voluntary acceptance of motherhood while she remains a perfect virgin and god the holy spirit pours forth on her virginal soul the immense immense wealth of his grace in choosing her as his immaculate spouse so flawlessly did the three divine persons work in achieving this work of art mary that when the game archangel gabriel came to her little room as the ambassador of the most high he was so overwhelmed with mary's great dignity that he could only stammer his wonder in saying hail full of grace can you imagine rendering an angel speechless how much grace must mary have when the angel had given his message sent from the most high god he left and the great mystery of the incarnation had taken place mary was now carrying in her the god-man she was now the new ark of the covenant as the old ark held the law written on stone the new ark mother mary her womb held the new covenant not in stone but the word made flesh mary a girl of nazareth had given her consent her fiat her yes to become the mother of god and in that instant he had taken flesh within her womb our redemption had already begun thanks to our lady let us give thank you on this first saturday to mary's fiat let us give god through her our fiat our yes the commandments that our lord summarize to love our lord our god with all our heart mind soul and strength and to love our neighbor as our self can be summarized the saints tell us into one do the will of god to love our god is his will to love our neighbor is his will to do the will of god is what mother mary did perfectly we ask mother mary that you help us in doing god's will perfectly we are broken we make mistakes we are sinners but that is why lord we need your mercy that is why mother mary we need your loving hand that is why jesus we need your sacred heart and mother mary we need your immaculate heart those fleshly hearts mother mary your human heart as a creature to give us that example to perfectly do the will of god the second mystery the visitation and mary rising up in those days went into the hill country with haste into a city of judah and she entered into the house of zechariah zachary and saluted elizabeth and it came to pass when elizabeth heard the salutation of mary that the infant leapt in her womb for joy scott hahn tells us that the same word for lept is danced and how david danced before the ark of the old covenant john the baptist is now danced or lapped before the ark of the new covenant and elizabeth was filled with the holy spirit and she cried out with a loud voice and said blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb and whence is this to me that the mother of my lord should come to me for the blasphemies against the most divine motherhood of mary for those who refuse to accept her divine maternity we look no further than the words of elizabeth that how is it that the mother of my lord should come to me by the very words in scripture we see her divine maternity immediately mary began her work of communicating grace to others so vibrant was mary over her motherhood that she hastened as the gospel said to visit her cousin elizabeth who was also to become a mother the mother of the great pure precursor of christ saint john the baptist we know that david brought the ark of the covenant up into the hill country of judea for three months and yet it was also mary the new ark of the covenant who went up into the hillside for three months the beautiful connection that our lord has given us to the fulfillment of mary in this role is such a beautiful grace many great artists have tried to portray this scene of the meeting of these two mothers saint elizabeth embraces mary with the great affection she felt for this little cousin and then in deep humility she pronounces the words we repeat after her so often blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb and whence is this to me that the mother of my lord should visit me again reflect meditate on the divine motherhood of mary and make reparation for the blasphemies against this motherhood that she has endured in her most immaculate heart elizabeth recognized mary as the mother of god and so should we mary said all generations will call me blessed and so should we these are the words of scripture as mother of the redeemer mary began at once her work in the part of the redemption and freeing elizabeth's unborn child of the stain of original sin pious tradition says that john the baptist and saint joseph yes while conceived with sin unlike mary the only who has ever been conceived without original sin yes they were conceived with sin but as we just heard the redemption was begun and john the baptist and saint joseph did not sin that does not mean they did not need a savior it was only through the grace of our savior that they were able to be of this most dedicated and devout disciples of our lord that is what the doctors of the church tell us regarding the words of saint elizabeth for behold as soon as the voice of thy salvation sounded in my ears the infant in my womb leapt for joy saint john had be been conceived in original sin but now the visit of his unborn redeemer washed away that stain before he was born have we meditated on this have we ever thought about this this is what our lady asked us to do at fatima by saying please meditate on the mysteries with me for at least 15 minutes and god bless all of you as you are joining us now in this most holy practice later during his public office his public life and please pray for all of those in public office but in his public life our lord jesus christ would say to saint john of those born of a woman none is greater than john the baptist he must have been referring to this marvelous grace of a redemption from original sin which came to saint john yes through mary on the day of her visitation of elizabeth let us give thanks for the charitable example that our mother mary has given to us [Applause] in the visitation we will not do all of the mysteries of the rosary as we have reflected but we will finish with the nativity because this mystery of all is so deep so beautiful let us finish today with this gift of our lord jesus christ in the flesh and it came to pass that when they were in bethlehem her days were accomplished and she brought forth her first born son and wrapped him up in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn and there were shepherds keeping the night watches over their flocks and behold an angel of the lord stood by them and the brightness of god showed around them and they feared with a great fear but the angel said to them fear not for behold i bring you good tidings of great joy that shall be to all the people for this day is born to you a savior who is christ the lord and suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising god and saying as we sing in every holy mass as we unite our voices with the heavenly choir glory to god in the highest and on earth peace to men of goodwill as we enter into mass rarely do we meditate or reflect that our voices have been united with the voices of the angels in proclaiming this good news to the lord or to the world the good news from our lord to the world who shall dare set limits to the plenitude of the grace in the soul of mary and on that night when the son of god was visibly made flesh and dwelt amongst us on that night of nights when the angels overflowing with joy curled in the midnight skies who shall ever guess of the billows of grace that broke in quiet beauty and breathtaking loveliness on the shores of mary's soul surely now more than ever before she was full of grace this is why every time we read the chapter first chapter of luke we are praying the hail mary then the shepherds come when the glorious chorus of angels appeared to the shepherds and they knew of this word that had come to pass they hurried to place to the place described by the angel and found the child with his mother it is always the same christ and his mother and again mary fulfills her role of communicator of grace and radiates joy to those poor shepherds when she offers her child for their admiration and worship mary as it were exposed christ on the altar of their souls and placed our lord on the throne of grace in their very arms do we do this when we go to mass do we like the shepherds ask that christ be placed on the altar of our souls do we place our lord on the throne of grace in our very hearts when we receive him in holy communion or do we without reverence or even thought reflect on the incredible grace given to us who could ever imagine the amount of grace that was so freely offered to them by our lady the immaculate conception and this grace we too receive and the true body blood soul and divinity of jesus christ in every mass just as the shepherds held him in the flesh we too bring him into our souls they must surely have returned to their flocks filled with a desire to be vigilant shepherds of him who was the king and shepherd of their souls heavenly father we ask to the grace to be given to us to make jesus christ also the king and shepherd of our souls then the magi come the shepherds who represented the jewish people who christ came to first were now then followed up by the magi who represented the gentiles and all the nations of the known world or regions and we know it says later there came to the feet of christ that strange colorful cavalcade of oriental magi saying where is he that is born king of the jews for we have seen his star in the east and have come to adore him when the star that had guided them over the sandy waste of the desert stood over where the child was they find as the shepherds did the child with his mother unseparable is jesus from his mother this is why the octave of our christmas season brings us on the 25th of december the birth of jesus and on the 1st of january the celebration of the solemnity of mary mother of god you cannot separate jesus from his mother and they found the child with his mother and falling down they adored him and opening their treasures they offered him gold frankincense and myrrh and for those of you who have tuned in at five o'clock for the rosary we will be starting the rosary in just two minutes as we finish this reflection on the nativity thank you for your patience and understanding mary was a most precious host to gracious hostess on this state occasion and performed all the ceremonies with queenly grace why should she be nervous or have any fears or hesitation in the presence of royalty she who mothered the king of kings and lord of lords behoove before whom the princely archangel bowed low and spoke in awe hail full of grace it is easy to imagine mary again holding an exposition ceremony as she placed the divine child on the altar of each magi's arms that was truly the first enthronement of the sacred heart in the gentile race as represented by the magi from the east let us to be enthroned or have our lord enthroned in our hearts surely they received an abundance of grace thanks to mary and went back to their countries as enthusiastic missionaries and preachers of the divine word as we finish our meditation on the mystery of the nativity again we see mary busy in her role of communicator of grace and active in spreading far and wide the tidings of great joy in imitating the magi what can we give to mary for the divine child gold frankincense myrrh why not gladly give her for him the rich gold of our love the fragrant incense of our prayers and the precious myrrh of our mortifications at this time we will finish with the consecration to the most immaculate heart of mary and with our prayers we consecrate to you mother mary ourselves our nation and our world we thank you mary immaculate for calling us to this time of meditation to keep you company and console your heart for the many sins ingratitude and blasphemies uttered against you please help us to love jesus more every day and to fill god's plan for each of our lives thank you blessed mother as we pray hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb jesus holy mary mother of god pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our
