to ask a couple more questions I know you got a recording session tonight what's been the high point in your career uh and everybody in our business I've had low points you've had them well I think it's very difficult young to pick one particular moment I think to think of a couple of them right away would be obviously winning the Academy Award for eternity I'm here to Eternity and then and then being involved being a part of a film coil man with the Golden Arm which I thought was a milestone at Marcel if you fix business in in personal appearances of course working any saloon is i point for me I just love to get out on stage and work in the saloon yeah and see the people I think it's marvelous and it's in saloons I call them saloons but I mean clubs everybody's so close to us other odds and even the for instance tonight it's fun coming here because I ran into people that I haven't seen because there's so many TV shows being being done at one time and mr. Fox was working next door the read the garbage deal there the junk man he said to me hey baby you want to go to planes like Sunday would meet in the church he said we go who said was I'm the only colored man I know who don't want to sit the back of heaven oh he's funny when you I grew up with you listen to your music in high school and so forth dis occur to me crazy taught the salmon when you're in a romantic mood near trying to make out whose records do you put on I spent a lot of nice evenings listening to your music and I just wonder after Frank do I play Jerry fail I interesting concept yes it is but but I can answer that by telling you that the notice of lovely moments I play add a facin Chloe or the sunken Cathedral the engulf Kapil that kind of classy Jack around all that other stuff Hey look I know you're gonna do another number with a band cuz I know you got a recording session tonight and uh really under here was even see look now that's it for me why don't you guys get with the band hey Frank expect to see it uh I I just I just was hanging around the hall and I they said Frank Sinatra's here I've never met him you know and I get the chill excuse went certainly certainly Macha manga nonso was hurt ma c'mon the Narns Oh from be new boombots Oh two bullets in the head Thursday this this you don't believe excuse us Johnny York you're from the Midwest you're busy going is the truck loaded Guido says hi he hasn't had a chance to talk to you and from jersey city your good friend who bonnie embosser what is there in his car you started his car with your album on and now he's a highway what'd I tell you I'm a Jew and you're an Italian and here we have what this is a great Irishman this is America yes and that's why I just want to say before we go any further ah for 14 years Johnny Carson kept saying do you really know Frank and I want you to know Frank I worship you and I love you I really mean this I need a girl so big I love my wife but she's ill god bless he just got mad hate all the good things this is the most exciting night in the years that I've known Johnny Carson he started me on this show this is the most exciting night and III so help me it's a great night he was even nervous because he came to me and said you are a powerhouse in Frank I love you combating a vanilla-bean EBU Bekir interval T Uganda Vontae good night this is the night telling story about this man did to me once you may have no know heard about this was true story this is a long time ago long before Don got married I was eating dinner in a restaurant in New York and I was sitting with some friends and he came over to the table and he said Frank do me a favor when he said I'm sitting with a very pretty girl and I'm trying to make out you know and he said I told her I know you and she really doesn't believe me would you stop by the table I said all right I was just about to finish I was down the expresso and I was funny he went back and I walked by the table I said how I had done nice to see he said can't you see I'm eating Frank he said get to see him trying to make out with this girl he's only don't bother me so when I started at Johnny when I started at Sardis chairs land that was the first time I met Sinatra Edie it was it came with Peggy Lee right Frank well the first time actually was in Murray Franklin's in Miami Beach a little John and he came down here and Marie Franklin's a heck of a guy he's still with us thank God and the room said about 20 people and I broke the record I'm heading 21 and hurtis Sherwin and Frank came over and he sat the front and I was scared to death as I am tonight as many times I see him I had never seen him before he killed me at night absolutely put me should be scared with that act you notice how he keeps moving on edge all the time but all around jack god bless you the violin section why they always look like the Union didn't call violin players always look like I gotta get an operation boy two budgets big tonight but you got the boss here not right to me Frank Sinatra is the boss because for one reason not because of the word boss but because he stimulates excitement he stimulates our industry and he makes you nervous get a bum bum look I know you do my song I know you got a cup I replayed you Frank see you soon come on Frank come on we're gonna walk on the boardwalk come on come back he's insane it seems we stood and talked like this one special we looked at each other in the scene I can't remember the clothes you're wearing other clothes that I want you wore smile you smile and you were smiling I can't remember well you some things that happen for the first time see so it seems there we have met once before and then we left a lot to be for who knows where Wow you hey follow that God he would never leave hey you always think I knew him personally he's something else and he he really let that that was a kick you know what I like you starts that song if some and they Klaus we never get that you ever knows we go and do a joke these two drunks got on the streetcar and the people on there yeah hey boy you're not so great in the world and both being same the world to know that this guy has that great charisma and to come on this show and have that kind of excitement and for you you've done this show for so many years and I know you were delighted and I am just thrilled to be part of it really was locked but thanks for being here we have Olivia newton-john David Janssen with us so stay where you are we'll be right I know you always say it but to have all that you said it before the violence section and and Doc Severinsen it was set it said exciting exciting moment this is a certain element of class to the show nice and sorely use it what No my next guess you all know he's had more successful television shows than anyone I know Harry Oh Richard diamond O'Hara the fugitive and so many motion pictures and currently is starring in a action suspense drama called two-minute warning would you welcome David Janssen you ah good to see you thank you I wouldn't give this spot to a leper number 1934 we got him he young won a 1920 uh well your inclusion how you feel it hi I'm or I get got back from Tokyo Japan that's a good place board thank you that's about a 14 hour hoppin yeah if you take a plane you look there's always gonna be I'm not David I'll ring upon the same because you're this rolling did you take the polar holder fine we all know where they have a direct or don't you take the polar fly to Tokyo no they have a direct route from I've never been there you see you take the polar flight sometimes to Europe yes I guess you don't take it too well that's a long way Tokyo Japan is no but they have direct flights now at night you can't fly directly from here to Tokyo you have to stop off in Honolulu haha I don't know excuse me what were you doing in Tokyo I was there making a film for a commercial film for a commercial venture Oh well that follows I did you know it's very difficult to be on the show with two great wits I'm not even gonna ask I don't want to be left out of this so I'm not gonna be a dummy and jump into him but anyway I'm back in here I am and I just gonna you know try to tell you yeah watch the picture and then I'm gonna listen to Don and Olivia Newton well yes he's a great thing here is Frank was on you forgive you ever worked with Frank in a picture don't know no I followed him around a lot and asked for his autograph but I really think he's you know he's the chairman Connells headed the Abed's thing we did David David remark assuming David remark which was so actually that three out of four television shows that's that's a great record one out of four no no he had one one stiff right yeah but it clears me with customs but three out of four is remarkable to be when you have the record for steps don't you oh yeah they're rerunning your shows up Zambezi tonight calm the natives yeah sure front a Frankie then come on like this where I live that's right yeah that's all you're gonna get a phone call in the morning don't stop your car I like that that was good usually gonna Japanese though hi outside of hi I mean hi Vijay's Oh does it hi I didn't know that it soon will is a very difficult language or a lot nth in the war right hi oh hey you in the service yeah corporal hours yeah I was sent you a corporal in the army and you were he was an incident in a that's right and you were tell him what were you don't prepare you always bring this up I was a colonel in the Marine Corps alright I'm Colonel in the Marines hi I didn't wear that so when he was in Japan I was in what was the feeling that you got in Japan oh very uh Japanese you have any more brilliant questions like that we are not exactly jumping in what up what's the feeling like in Japan I am taking a nap on the couch you're just having 14 Frank left I would imagine the Japanese because of their culture not the kind like Americans who run up you mentioned autographs and say give me your autograph they aren't even personalism well in different parts of Tokyo I mean different parts of Japan in Tokyo they are very vocal they're very outgoing I think that because that's because here in Tokyo is really the center of Japanese culture osaka the people are much less vocal they appreciate you and watch you and occasionally they will approach you but in Tokyo it's much like being in New York or California if somebody appreciate you they yell and holler and you know I understand what your hair and things like that they speak of English is predominant and no no it's not why would it be why would English be predominant in Japan really care I don't care they speak mama I know Japanese as long as my kid gets a lot of toys japanese is the japanese loosely predominant language in in banja book cares why every time you see a very her I care I don't plan to go back there again no they won't trip was enough I don't need when did you go during the war and it was one Japanese guy in a tree going want to celebrate Hanukkah where did that happen where did that 1943 August on the beach of Malibu I just wondered you want to see if you had a place bring that guy up I want to know where that happened ah do you come back oh yeah we have a message from Johnson's making a fine product
