behind me here it's a 1978 ford f-100 it hasn't been registered insured or on the road since 2003 or 18 years so i'm going to do the right thing and try to fire this thing up and just scoot it home [Music] [Applause] [Music] someone back here is shooting more brass than a marching band well brother henry owns the truck now you know but before him some other good old boy had it sat up for many years and had some issues i take it and now it's been sitting again for a few years and just kind of scooted around the yard here i literally don't know anything else about this rig it's just one of those on the line purchases you know you just just buy it so far it actually looks to be a very solid truck which is just mind-boggling but let's go ahead and take a close look dig through this thing we'll dig through the cab and the box get the power barn open and see what we got under there try to figure out what's going on with this rig and hopefully we can get her fired up today i'll be dipped i'm kind of confused right now i'm not seeing the axle through the floor of the bed here it's just not making a lot of sense there's really not a lot of rust in this truck if a guy just shoots his peepers down at click like there are a lot of these red flying creatures though they got a nest in here oh yep there they are we'll talk to you later no plate on her real solid bumper here ken hilton ford sure don't know what that means got a spare tire probably flat we'll take it though other than that this is looking pretty decent i wonder if this slide-in plastic bed thing wasn't part of this rig and maybe that's saved on it i don't know i just don't oh here we go birmingham alabami so this dealership apparently had custom bumpers i don't know is what i'm saying no rust over here i mean at all which i'm not used to still got a cab corner still has some rockers i mean by now i'm used to seeing more holes in that bonnie and clyde car but this is looking solid might have just stumbled upon a gem here no rust look at this i just can't believe it but i mean i guess i got to i'm looking right at it you know no rust on this side either i think all the tires are holding there even and we even got the poverty dishes still that's pretty neat a little bang there but this might be the most solid rig a guy owns now potentially let's get this open see what we got going on more of these red creatures everywhere oh that's a heavy heavy smell it's been raining a lot recently in the humidity it's got to be 200 pounds or percent or whatever they measured in ease in yeah that's a very very distinct boiled potato skins and squirrel carcass smell it's thick let me let me get this winter down because that is riding in that rig is going to be tough is what i'm saying let's go around the other side there's more stuff on the other side confirmed let's go help help me let's go down okay oh got a snail on the window hang on a little buddy he'll be all right maybe we can't go all the way down or we'll scrape them off okay duct tape whole roll no sticky edge left whew duct tape whole roll no sticky edge left carbon choke cleaner empty not a good sign air filtration system with the wingnut take it hang on to that we got a bunch of bailin twine we'll hang on to that too we've got a three sped force bed what have we got going on here oh okay it was a column shift deleted now it's a floor shift and this thing's sloppier than a barbecue sandwich and i ain't kidding you maybe we could tighten that up a little bit probably not it's got the best seat cover ever known to man on it back of the seat looks nice does it flip sure does don't know what that is that's questionable got a piece of all thread we'll keep that oh we got some six by nines at least we know we can listen to warren g on the way home we got some jumper cables we're gonna say those came with the truck you know hang on to them i don't know what that is here's a clue we got a water neck maybe that's just completely missing or we need that one some sort of mix tape we'll hang on to that you never know that's about it back there sure so far everything's fine road gear base boost oh we got a real good stereo system i don't know if this is gonna work or not but we're gonna send up a prayer that it does got a tape ready definitely a smoker okay yep all right okay well we'll pretend that's locked or something we got recedage what does it say we got a date nope one fuel make it happener 139 wow it's got a sill plate in it just not used to this to be honest this is snap clean off how does that happen i'm not even sure what do we got over here looks like a fire extinguisher mount maybe that could be a clue does she get toasty petals don't look that worn and it says 91894 could that be 91 000 original miles well the pedals would explain that and also the lack of rust or body damage but why would someone park up a rig with just 90 000 on don't know if this is original miles this is a huge score let's get the power barn opened up and see what we got going on under there hopefully this hood isn't stuck oh so far so good oh we got a six in a row ready to tow it looks at first glance i mean other than a battery everything looks to be here and i just found another clue that this could be a 90 000 mile rig fellers ah we got the digital spark box on this dang it that's gonna be bad pretty sure this is the most rust i've seen in the entire rig and i'm pretty positive that's just from battery acid just dancing up in the hood there you know you'll get that on them bigger jobs but other than that this appears to be absolutely complete and look at this i think that's an assembly line marking appears to be original and she's just hanging on like a kindergartener on a merry ground didn't go anywhere in all these years got some sort of creature house down in here oh it's crispy she's been did i work on this already that's you know that's approved we'll leave that but it's got different clamp laters on it i'm assuming that must be from the receipt we just saw they did some work on the fuel maker happener but this most likely pretty positive it's going to be the 300 yep right there and that's great news because these are extremely reliable engines they are very difficult to kill so we've got a pretty good chance of getting this running and then uh oh these either work or they don't work and 100 of the time they don't work and i don't believe i got one of these magical lightning digital boxes on me so we're just gonna have to really pray that this one's in good condition you guys must not have mice as much down on the south cause i'm just i'm seeing no evidence of rodents in here which is incredible usually all this is eaten up this all looks bad so that's good shortest positive cable i've ever seen and the saddest sad cable i've ever seen this is well we'll just see if it works i guess gently set it down there but i guess we could start checking all the juices on this thing and see if we can come up with some sort of health report here non-ice cube juice fully deleted a whole bunch of rust in here can't reach it oh there you go so we might try to flush on that just a little bit if we can it's a manual transmission we're gonna have to check on that though too check yep that looks pretty decent engine oil let's see it's right on the mark very bad really old pays lots of gas like a lot of gas so it could be a couple things here fellers have been trying to get this thing started unsuccessfully could be that carb cleaner can just jam down the fuel make it happener and if they don't run basically all that fuel watches past the rings it just sits in the crankcase or it could be a bad fuel pump and it's just pumping fuel right into the crankcase but that is definitely going to have to be addressed and i would say that we've got a starting issue for sure on this thing any juice in here hello hello hello is there anybody in there no nothing in there either how about break jews what have we gotten here i usually wait till last for this but i'm here i'm leaning over so wow you stubborn devil oh what am i looking at no what is this can't be i just never have seen the likes i've opened some master cylinders in my day failures and i've seen it all i mean put a check down on it but this one she is rough really rough there was some sort of thin layer of caramelized something on this one and also chunks floating in that one the good news is however it's not empty so there's a pretty good chance that we don't have any leaks or broken lines which is rare for me but we're definitely going to have to flush that and clean it as best as we can before we put some new juice in it and then say that we bled the brakes but we're going to try not to you know plan definitely going to pretend like we didn't see that yet and just put this back for now okay well before we figure out which way a guy's brain's gonna go you know on this here we might as well figure out if this thing even rotates and the engine's any good before we spend the time on everything else every engine's got a compression ratio higher the compression ratio the harder it is to turn over by hand or even with a wrench good thing is the ford 300s don't really register compression ratio the engineers just said it's there so we should very easily be able to turn this over by hand if it's not locked up always make sure it's a neutralis of course i'm just going to put some tension on the belt pull on the fan blade and should turn the crank over well the good news is the engine appears to be locked up the also good news is i brought a six-pack a cold snack so let's let's start there stop it don't panic just yet it's actually really common for engines that sit especially in areas of high humidity like in tennessee here form a little bit of a ring ridge it's really not that big of a deal sometimes it just takes a ratchet or a breaker bar just to pop that seal then you should be good to go you look at old rigs carry one of these with you do a little bit of research what kind of size the crank snout bolt is thirds 15 16. usually probably not always they change everything by different engine things and depends on the year and the color and barometric pressure what kind of mood the engineer's in i guess get the forearm snapper on here that's almost valve train if it was a piston they usually just pop through that and you can kind of hear them scraping and you might have to work it back and forth let me get a different bite on this here a little bit lower oh there it went i don't know if you heard that yeah something in the valve train there we go oh she's spinning just fine oh my wrench is stuck come back here get a little level i got it okay well we'll pretend that that also didn't happen and so far everything is looking really good really good well now that we know she turns over let's toss a battery in here very specific reason i'm using this one that i just lit on fire in a c10 it's got a gold handle it also says super start on it we appear to have a remnants of a burnt battery clamp on it that's fine we're going to throw this in here and test the lightning system out make sure we got sparkles we'll start with the coil here but first the important fire test when you get an old rig like this put the clamp laters on and then just you know take it in a little bit could get rodents in here and things like that or there could be an existing issue and wires get melty they get hot and then they get fire you know and then there goes your whole rig so take her easy make sure that you don't have anti theft running that's the wrong colored cables or same colored cables hits we got sparkles something must be drawn some amperes but so far i don't smell any fire is there even a key in this did we look i don't think we did i'll be dipped well there is a key in it and it was rolled back to the axis ac see axe ack whatever wasn't off it was you know that's why we got sparkles probably but so far that's good anywho we're gonna test out the coil before we even start cranking on it because this is a one-man show you know i don't have another one to show you because we never come prepared that would be too easy we're going to take our digital meter here over on the horseshoe setting we're going to test the primary and the secondary windings on the coil and i'll bring you in here a little bit closer and show you how to do that i'm going to bring in a little bit i'm going to bring in i want to get you in here a little why won't you come off i'm going to bring you in a little closer here and take a look at this there's two different windings in a lightning can like this there's a primary winding and a secondary winding the primary winding winds on the outside of this here unit that's the primary one and it connects these two posts here sometimes i got the slide of my goose usually they have like a nut and washer the secondary winding shoots lightning out of here and that's wound down the center of the unit here and basically what we're going to do is check the resistance on primary check the resistance on secondary primary should be 0.2 to 5 ohms depending on your make and model and secondary should be six thousand to fifteen thousand so just interweb google search that up and see what your rig is supposed to be running if it's like an old ford or old gm or old mo por they're all all the same unless you get into the new rigs you know so we're going to run that test quick so at least we know the lightning can's good and then if we're not getting sparkles we know that our issue is in this oil soak thing or this magic wizard box over here we'll do the primary first so i got it on the 200s horseshoe selection get my leads on it here 1.5 sure we'll call that good we gotta dig this up to twenty thousand k's of the horseshoes because we're expecting six thousand to fifteen thousand somewhere in there hopefully right 8.7 looked like yep 8.6 a mosquito just bit me in the eyelid why why would they do that also the lightning can is good so that's good let's see if this thing cranks over by key before we start just turning her over by the key i'm going to disconnect the fuel line from the fuel tank so we're not circulating on mystery materials here and gumming up the fuel pump make it happener or get it up into the actual fuel make it happen that wouldn't be good there we go now we'll see if you know it does the thing all right clear oh yeah it's just me here we go weird noise what is that oil piece is light it's cranking it's galloping that means one of the pistons is you know not like the other that's okay spinning over just fine so now let's hook the lightning system back up and we'll just spritz her with some some sort of fire juice i'll find something and we'll see if this thing barks off and if it makes noise then we continue to you know put some time and effort into this thing it's a 300 should run nope never know what you're gonna get well why couldn't they just have a nut and bolt on this like every other thing in the world oh did i even check if the throttle moves on this no i did we're good anyway although i feel like i would be getting our relationship off to the right start here by pouring some hard lemonade down her this is actually a mixture of some old gasoline out of a weed locker and some two-stroke oil the reason i do that is about the worst thing you could do is pour raw fuel or brake cleaner or carb cleaner down an engine that's been sitting forever not good on the cylinder walls or rings this will lubricate on her just a little bit in case it doesn't start and in case it does start i'm going to crack the throttle a little bit dump this in maybe try to get a little bit down the vent tube that would be handy i mean yeah leaking out everywhere way too much perfect lightning systems all hooked up i didn't even pop the lightning roller cap i guess if it doesn't start we'll dig into that not even going to look at this box got some sort of fire maker in it all right let's bring the thunder oh that's gonna run look at that it didn't even smoke no i wonder if i can get some more down the vent tube there it might sit here and idle oh i see all the smokes coming out of the plugged exhaust up here perfect is that wire holding in the starter i'm gonna pretend i didn't see that guy's gonna put a little more flammable liquid down here try to get some more in the vent tube here it's actually pretty handy they put a new one on i don't know when it was but someone was working on this but we'll adjust on the needle anyway oh it says right here manufactured january 16th 2001. it's brand new basically try it again bring the thunder flooded now let's try to bring it again a little more air oh yeah it's not clanking oh now it is never mind oh there's the smoke we wanted well the truck definitely is a runner so now you start to question you know why was she parked up clutch bad rear end out of it does it overheat we saw room temperature vulcanization cream all over this thing and a water neck i don't know i don't know what's going on with it we're going to have to get it running longer than we have to kind of figure that out but i don't want to run it too long on that bad oil in here i think next we got to figure out the fuel system if we're going to do anything it could have a decent tank in it probably not it's been sitting a long time i also did bring a boat tank that's way too small and about 10 gallons of gas so you know that's an option if need be but let's figure that out then we can at least try to get it up on something i didn't bring a jack but there's plenty of stuff around here we can run over and get the front end up in our teeth you know get this oil changed i think what we'll do is throw a fill tray in here and replace this line i brought some line with me hook this up and pull some fuel out of this and just see what it looks like to start it's a lot easier using the old tank even if we got to change a couple filters just limping at home then explaining you know the boat tank and the lap thing when you get pulled over usually doesn't go over very good and this looks like a single tank set up here we'll pop this off see what it looks like in there and hopefully we can pull some fuel up without issue and the line's not leaking or anything like that yeah this fuel line is definitely 20 years old i mean it's harder than hulk hogan bicep oh varnish that's great oh we got fuel running no there must be some fuel in the tank didn't even think to chuck okay well we'll plug that back in and say we recycled on that let me get the piece and the filter made first and then we'll you know jackie chan slippage on got the different nascar system in here see nine different clamps and whatnot letter gravity feed i just held this down here until the filter filled up with fuel and it doesn't look that bad it's a little varnish but pretty surprised what i'm going to do now is crack it over here we'll roll the motor over we're going to make sure that that's pump elating and we're getting fuel up to here that's a thing i'm going to come over to the steel me junction that ford so kindly put in you can literally steal a ford with any sort of conductive metal or plier screwdriver anything you want basically all you have to have is 12 volts right here and you could jump these two across or whatever i just got a wire running over there and if you want a lone wolf 6000 trigger just get a longer piece of wire hook one end onto here one to 12 vs and you could be away over here if you're working over here touch them together same thing so i'm going to disconnect this we'll crank on it a little bit and see if this is going to suck a light there we go okay get my steel me wire nothing nothing we know fuel is in the filter sometimes on these old fuel pump happeners you know the diaphragm in there just gets drier than bob barker's back i'm going to take a little lemonade and just into the fuel outlet that usually goes to the fuel make it happener feed it back in the other way and let that soak in for a few minutes and then we'll try to suck a light on it again i wonder what randy travis is doing today i'm going to try it again now keep in mind it's definitely going to spit out what we just poured in there but we're looking for more than that [Laughter] i think we got a bad fuel pump making happener i'll be dipped i'm a computer basically what i'm saying is starting to add up a little bit here earlier i tasted a lot of fuel in the gas and now the fuel pump make it happen or isn't happening and sometimes when they fail it is pumping but it's just shooting it right into the crank case luckily maybe i did bring an extra one of these but hopefully it's got the right armature on it because you know ford and there's 32 different kinds of these for some reason so uh nope so i'm gonna pop this one off and hopefully you know they're the same slightly different but i think the lever ends up in the same spot it should we'll give her a whirl this is no less than this trucks or the engines anyway third fuel pump reason i know that is whoever put the second fill pump on just put the new gasket right over the old gasket proved pop this in quick see what happens well there we go and you can tell this pump's good because of the way that it is that should work just fine that varnish color just ignore that so we'll plumb this back in get it plugged in up here and hopefully we can get this thing to idle here in a minute put a new rubber line on over here snap the old one off when i was hooking that back up i'm gonna try to fill the bowl again if i can a little bit anyway that way it gives us a fighting chance when it idles that's not working cats usually have a ketchup or mustard squirter but i just moved and well i was lucky enough to find my socks this morning well a sock anyway right foots feeling a little weird but this should be enough hopefully it'll idle long enough that it'll suck enough fuel and fill the bowl no idea what the needle and seat's doing yet we'll just have to player by ear you know but let's give it a whirl see if we get this to idle sure i think we're ready bring the thunder oh gotta hook my steel me junction back up i knew that just seeing if you guys were paying attention that's all bringing the thunder more again no way i'm off the throttle there it goes a little bit of a leak over there ignore that it's sitting here idling i better check the exhaust see if it's restricted it is not repeat it is not do we have oil pressure yep oil lights not illuminating but again that doesn't mean the oil piece of switch is working but i ain't hearing any clanking [Music] wow that's pretty incredible lots of blow-by that's to be expected though [Music] pretty darn good these 300s are just they're pretty much indestructible there is a little bit of water in it or something because i can hear it flowing back down through the heads well fellers and fellats she runs after 18 years was it really just a fuel pump i mean i've seen otter things just a brake line a relay starter people park these up and just don't want to mess with them but it's running but i don't want to run it too long on that bad oil so i think the next thing we're going to do is jump in see if this thing moves if we've got some sort of clutch that'd be nice and maybe at least first gear get it crawled out of the holes here onto some mowed grass i brought a jack stand didn't bring a jack you'd think after 20 some years doing this i'd kind of have a program you know but nope not even close i do see some bent up ramps or something over here catalytic converter some tires basically there's some stuff we can run over get this oil pan out of our teeth you know brother henry he's not home but awfully awfully nice filler i don't think he'd mind us borrowing on it for a minute so let me jump in and see if this thing moves under its own power since george w bush was president no i think so oh got a spider in my mouth here we go fires right up accelerator pump non-existent i think this should be first gear oh yep clutch is at the very top we're moving can't stop we use the key there we go successful first trip i'll take it it's smoking but not as bad as you think it would oh i should put some fuel on this huh probably well this is where i figure out if i'm allergic to these red creatures or not just jam your hand in here and you just hope for the best you know sometimes you just let them alone they'll let you alone this is probably not a good location for a wasp at elite how does gas go in [Music] this ramp's got a sapling growing right through it i got it henry there we go there we go it's real soft out here so these should sink all the way to the ground you know give me about two inches of lift that's fine left the tree in this one so it's sturdy you know and then over here this is the bent up one up on the hill for extra safety i'm just going to jump in and dance on the clutch pedal which it's basically non-existent and engages all the way at the top and if i shut it off right in time it's going to stop on these ramps here we go this four-way wrench right under the clutch is really inconvenient doesn't have the powers well shoot can we come backwards on so well guys got two issues no accelerator pump no power no traction no clutch it's just it's not you know so i'm just going to change the filter and then just wiggle under there and drop what's ever in the crankcase i don't want to run any longer without ice cube juice who knows what that's doing right now okay what do we got going on here what is it what is it what do we got well it's an old school wicks well whoever owned it last had some brains at least that's cool going back in is a new wicks just a reminder i always write the date or the mileage on these fellers so you or the next filler isn't just scratching his head a lot of these odometers don't work anymore and that's when the date comes in handy okay now can a guy wrestle under here i suppose he could well nothing exciting going on here other than there was a bunch of fuel in it but no metal no big chunks of stuff or whatever else so relatively good news as far as oil going in today shallow tele t4 it's heavy-duty diesel oil got all the dinosaurs and vitamins and everything these old engines need and want yep [Music] made it throw some ice cube juice in this thing top it off and see if it'll stay cool idling here i don't have the ability or the tools to flush this register right now we're gonna have to pin that up for now if we get this thing home it's gonna be on the list to do right away playing around with the fuel making happener adjustments i got the air fuel mixture closed all the way shouldn't be running you can hear whistling i've got a vacuum leak somewhere in here for sure and then also yeah i gotta clean that up i'm gonna get some carb cleaner and just start spraying around you'll be able to find the leaks pretty easy and just start cleaning a lot of this up and then i gotta decide if we're gonna put an accelerator pump go try to get a kit for this or something but i want it to idle for a little bit more there's like dragon scales floating in there that's neat heat gauge is shooting up there oh it's coming back down now maybe the thermostat open yep maybe my clothes are ready hook this on too see if she's charging i get 12.8 if i try to rev it but i don't got an accelerator pump that's about all i can get out of her so the charger whirler she's charging so i think we're to the point now we're gonna have to do something here that's not gonna get us on i had to get a kit here for the rebuild called my wife she come up got me ran me to the closest hardware store not close at all that burned up a lot of time the light you know we're losing it gonna have to put the pedal to the metal did get a kit but it's the wrong one so that's fine hopefully the accelerator pump at least works got to get that sorted still got to figure out brakes maybe you know and then lights because i think we're gonna be driving this thing home in the dark hopefully the digitals work probably not i better jump in here and just get some wrenches twirling [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so that's fixed good enough to get us home anyway i get asked a lot how come i don't show in depth if you'll make it happen or stuff and you know it's not that i don't necessarily don't want to i probably will someday but a lot of folks on the interwebs just over complicated so drastically bad that people get terrified to even dig into them and i want to enable you guys to feel confident comfortable you can do something like that and instead of making shaking your boots you know it's actually very simple take it apart put it together all the constructions are there you can set the floats and everything like that out here on a tailgate rebuild i just blow through all the passages and whatnot new needle seat set the floats clean them up a little bit slap them together of course the accelerator pump was a big one for us and we got one now so we can actually you know scoot down the highway now we got a quick move on the brakes we've got maybe 25 30 minutes where the sun goes down over the hill uh oh i think what i'm going to do is just jam some brake cleaner bottles in here this is crispy a lot of moisture in this guy and we're just going to flood it we'll use the straw kind of as an agitator it's compressed air filler and just and it's going to blow all that crud and it'll overflow the master cell in here we're going to get as much junk out as we can because we don't want to float a big gob down into our proportioning valve down here and lock that thing up so i'm going to get started on this and hopefully we can fill it back up with some new stoplater juice and we'll have some petal not even gonna touch it yet not even gonna touch it even if your cans are empty get them in here see that stirred up there's still compressed air there we go yeah i could see crud floating to the top already i've got a couple more empty cans are almost empty and then we'll hit her with the full cans try to save a couple bucks here is it perfect nope is it going to get us home yep skeeters are sure coming out in force there we go rebuild complete moment of truth on the stoplaters i guess it could be a lie i don't know i'm not the one saying anything kind of ish feels like there's pedal actually oh sticking down i don't know what it's going to do was sticky now it's coming around i think i'm just going to pump on it for a few minutes here then we'll top her off top her off again see what it says to us oh [Laughter] you gotta bleed the brakes they say do a light check on this bad boy thankfully the brake pedal sticks down so that should engage that switch huh oh yeah both of them even okay all right let's not get excited yet what about running lips them are the ones i need tonight oh yeah she got head lamps on it you think one and dose i don't believe it i guess i got to though i'm looking at it no i think the flasher's just out i don't hear any blinking yeah that's okay we're happy we got what we need before a guy shuts the hood down here oh just ruined the spark plug wire that's great always a risk always a risk i'm going to pull a spark later out and just glance on it they sound to be decent like it's banging on all six in here but we'll just take a peek i did pick some up but it'd be nice to save the money what do we got richer than oprah severely fouled just gonna stick that back and you know if we need to we'll put them in we'll put them in later you know i'm running out of time here i don't know where you guys are at actually i do sitting in your favorite chair in your underwear drinking a cold snack but where i'm at is i gots no more time we got to hit the road fellers let me see if i got a spare wire of some kind this one the connector came off oh sure enough wrong kind of bend on her but it'll make fire you know clip that on there dangle it down by the flammable liquids there we go check check check sure need this check yeah yep okay oh might need to address that that's all the stuff in the dash skipped over that 48 light bulbs or something i don't know i'm gonna wash down the windshield here and then load the tools up we got a skedaddle guy didn't even look close at the tires yet and i'm not really even sure that you know i want to to be honest but i did notice a really sweet polyglass spare in the rear certainly that's holding there nope that stopped sometime in the 80s that's some mud under the wiper or something here can we just get it good enough to see 38.76 there we go too bad about that crack shoot yep yep yep yep i think if i just don't hit the wiper blades then that won't smear after we get a few miles down here we'll check on that fuel filter and also see how it's going to run with these sparklators at least we can get some miles down you know there makes the truck look you know like it wasn't just forgotten for 20 years now not really at all 48 light bulbs in here i didn't forget what is that pina colada well there's no better current time than now than if it was in the past you know first time running on its own power headed towards the highway in almost two decades we're not getting a test run in on this one fellers we're just we're just gonna send it i don't know how far we get i don't know but here we go all right here we go first gear can i find second found second gear the steering wheel is upside down to go a little right it's fine there's a lot of smoke a lot of smoke coming in we'll just ignore it for now third gear oh yeah it's there but it doesn't like it let's go back to second speedometer doesn't work temperature's normal got no fuel gauge just to dummy light on the oil pieces this guy is hot on me go around i can't i don't got any brakes i don't think i haven't tried yet of course all these roads are twisty turby turvy is twisty and curvy put together you know well here's the plan oh spelometer's back i guess i am only doing 25. we're just going to take it really nice and easy avoid all the highways and just ease this thing back if i can see if this guy will go around me all of the back roads in tennessee are basically just it's a roller coaster but the benefit is the speed of the limit is just 35 so if a guy can keep from running off a cliff because there are no guardrails here then i should be able to use the gears a lot to wow me down and we can just take it nice and slow come on now get across this highway come on here we go [Applause] engine sounds pretty good a little bit on the hot side already don't know why might have some air in it [Music] so [Music] you [Applause] [Music] yeah i don't know didn't make it far pulled in under this light here she is hot hot i mean see if this goes back up it was basically snapped off on the h there yeah yeah so we're going to try to see if that's a legit thing or what's going on oh yeah very hot you can hear it boiling so that's going to be that's going to be a big issue we got a long ways to go yes great well i don't think it's thermostat i mean i could feel it in here boiling hot i just got this tiny little rad and i know it's full of gunk who knows how much gunk is in the block and the head and it was doing better when we were in second gear at a little bit higher rpm because i think it was just palmar sifums see a phones no air flow velocity what have you take the hood off yeah i don't think that'll do anything might just let it cool down here for a minute and then try to run it in second gear i mean we could do 35 in second feeder core is leaking but the fan blows and i just got that cranked on so we'll use that as kind of another auxiliary little graduator if you will blended this idle here for a minute see if we can get the temp down just enough where we can start getting a few more miles down and it's still you know not happy we'll wait a minute see what happens there's a little hydrant on this shouse shop house thing a knock no one's here and it's got a little carabiner oh it is locked so that's too bad i was gonna try to use that hose but i think we're just gonna have to try to wiggle our way that way a little bit more [Music] another 15 miles down and yeah it's just i don't think it's gonna do her guys this rad is definitely not doing the job there's some holes in it too that have just been patched up now we know the reason it was parked i'm almost certain it's going to be this overheating issue the fuel pump is probably just from sitting there all those years you know this guy here is working on a nice little fox body in there must be loading up to go drag racing i went and asked him if i could leave the truck here overnight then i could pick it up tomorrow with the trailer i just don't want to push this engine it seems to run pretty good and if i blow it out or add holes on the side of a road somewhere where there's no shoulder or something like that i would be really in trouble so i think we're gonna just err on the side of caution i don't know what that means but that's what's popping in my head it did run and drive we got her down the highway quite a bit but we're not gonna quite make it home fellers but it is a solid old truck very good foundation we could do a lot of stuff with this we know we need the heater core got to figure out the overheating issue clutch is pretty sour of course it's going to need things like tires brakes whatever but not a bad little pickup so i've got two main questions for you guys you could bleep bloop down there in the comments what you think should i talk to my son brad because he's got the 67 ford f250 maybe see if he wants to take over this one instead it's a lot more solid actually has cab mounts steering things like that and if not then what do we do with this do we just clean it up flip it do we push it in the tree road do we fix it full restore i don't know you guys give me some ideas put it down there in the comments thanks guys for watching very much appreciate you we'll see you next time [Music] [Music] you
