[Music] um [Music] i jumped on the interwebs and bought this 1969 chevrolet c10 site on unseen i got her off an auto mechanic she'd been scooched in the back there for 12 years i suspect it probably ain't good i bought it for the rally wheels and the shift knob but what the hey let's see if we can get it fired up and scoot around it's probably good for chasing cows getting the mail i don't know if it'll go to town or not but maybe we could haul something back here new unlikely very [Music] [Applause] [Music] so the story goes there ain't much of one i suspect we're going to have to figure it out someone brought her in for repair and kind of used to this because my dad used to have a repair shop back in the i don't know 90s call it folks would come in and get stuff fixed and couldn't afford the repair bill or it was bad enough news where they just said nope ain't gonna do that and there it sat of course my pop you know fixed everything so every other week we had a different van or pick up your car around the joint most of them didn't have you know license plates or registration or but anyway that's a story for a different thursday we're going to have to just kind of figure out what happened with this rig i really don't have any information at all on it i just showed up and picked it up dropped her off here at the rusty acres which is what i'm calling my new tree row this i got a few of them now so we can pile in some good stuff no still be junk so let's just walk around this thing and see what we can figure out and see what we're working with they sold it as a 68 it's definitely a 69 and you could tell because of the way that it is 69s had the parking lights in the grill there in the center 68s had them down here and chevrolet emblem was right here 69s they moved them up to the hood this one's missing that's weird i got seven though we'll put one on probably not don't think it's worth it anyway let's take a closer look this thing's dirtier than a golden buffet but maybe it'll come around probably not oh reverse mirage that's a factory option reason i bought it is right there it's got a matching set of rallies on it that's neat you'll see the shift knob in a second that's also very neat i already counted 197.3 colors that's pretty cool clearly a different door i don't know what it's said on here i just don't other than believe that says nashville tennessee i'm not sure to be honest she's got a tool box blocks punched out of it oh brand new drums and oil we got a lot of stuff in here fellers we got a tonya harding they got some bungee later four thousands oh that's a really long one gonna have to pull that out we got rope oil soaked best kind applied steak knife are you kidding me to the gold mine what do we got here please be standard what is it i don't know what is it now still don't know figure it out later anyway we got lots of goodies potentially a raincoat budweiser busch light i could have drank beer with this previous owner guaranteed this will probably work good in the shop go put that in a good pile would you thanks caprice hubcaps goodness gracious i think i can clean them up and put them on the line oh got a pair that's good not quite sure what this is it's got quite a bit of foaming let's see how the box is doing no we got two of these huh i'll sell you one six bucks well i mean the bottom's decent but i ain't never seen that before she's just rotted up over the wheel wells not quite the bad this is really typical got a scissor jack okay let's do a fishing rod i also put that in the good pile what else we got i don't know i'm trying to figure it out that's empty too bad oh is that solid wire that's a good pile hope this is hooked to an anchor i don't think it is unfortunately what is this thing i think that's tequila i like this guy he probably partied let's see if the tailgate works that'll tell us a lot i can already tell it doesn't oh it does look i apologize i was wrong i just thought because the handle was out tailgate works it's even got both little latch laters and this isn't rotted out like it is on most c10s c20 very nice chrome bumper there you can see 2009 boy i have a hard time believing that with how rough this thing is but maybe so maybe so hard to say i think that's the original box side i don't think that's the original color got some primer up here this is clearly there's something structurally not going on very good there 68 and 69 had the side marker lights front and rear 67s didn't they was smoothed out they didn't have that you know isn't that you're going to down shirt all right don't tell mom anyway you was rooting around back here what'd you find you said check out the stick oh it's wet what is it oh it's falling apart yeah well just dig it out there you go what is oh is that a pool cue i think it is let's get it down here and look at it all be dipped she's still locked up it must have been a good one look at that oh we've got some sort of creatures running around here way way too much chalk feller bring it down look at the stars and stripes you've got to be alligator grain this is a unit screw those together they're going yeah we're definitely putting that on the good pile let me see that bad boy oh that's like a 21 no can't be 18 what does it say it's not telling me anything that might be a 21. look at the balance on that well maybe not tournament ready but it's still free the roof looks pretty good you're going to be honest i mean besides the mold and rust and window silicon squirted in there pretty decent pretty decent got one and a half wipers they probably don't do anything at all but i mean kind of a solid project let's crack this time capsule open and see what we got we already got a interesting mold on the window here it's kind of white salty that's weird anyway it's a very strong johnson boat motor and cat vomit i don't know it's not it's not good is what i'm saying in fact this just let's get this window down let's get the window there are a custom door panels that i'm really excited to show you though you could tell by my face look at this door panel chevrolet custom i'd sure say so man there's more holes in this thing than bonnie and clyde's car but we'll just ignore that could this be the original color by the way it's kind of navy blue royal blue darker-ish blue it's not light up blue is what i'm saying normally our people are super lazy and don't paint the cabs but yeah they spray painted in here too don't light wow sliding rear window still slides these are always snapped off that brings value up about 17 cents look at the dash i mean someone put some time and effort into this thing besides the hose clamped on tachometer anywho let's jump right to this look at this thing are you looking at it wait until i clean that up pretty much the whole reason i bought the pickup besides the rallies i think it's like some sort of pool ball something like that i don't know this is definitely a factory option though you could tell because of the slop and how it doesn't do anything and giant hole just kind of saw it in the floor what do we got here rubber bands some string oh all of a sudden we got 30 pieces of was that oil pressure oh it's negative now that must be charged later oh there's the oil pieces you just kind of shake it it's like those eight balls you get a different answer mice have been in here violently that's okay you don't need wiring for much of anything we got lots of ignition sticks plus you can trim up your toenails if you want to nope what is that i don't know anyway heavy smoker like this 80s metal sony tape deck that's approved i don't know if we got any speaker laters what do we got here did it come with the tape nope we do have a compact disc cool on the gang essential funk i'm just i'm happy with this purchase at this point i just it's good i don't even care if it runs is this some sort of ergonomical 10 000 i think it is let's get it up here it is violently wet that's okay that's uh tire worms those are still good that's a front pocket fine keep them let's see what we got in the glove box here let's see what we got let's see what we got in the glove box let's see if we got a glove box here crying in the mud there we go oh my goodness is a lot 1996. social security number better not show that some sort of deed [Applause] manifold gaskets fuselaters is that [Music] someone's funeral sorry to hear about that oh a copy of a title 69 chevy almost a title that's neat not quite gonna work there's a lot of stuff wait a second oh look at these yep that's also a front pocket fine we got safety goggles we got a scissors still cuts keeping them we got an over the glasses glass of safety glasses sure keep them throttle pedal yep we need that was that the mcdonald's thing i think it is oh boy that's a whole lot of sweet tea there i think that's pretty much wait no way that's a snap on wrench right there oh be dipped well we'll keep that for sure that's worth more than all my tools combined and this taiwan one that looks pretty good maybe equal keep that one as well dimmer switch keep that and a 9 16 craft man i think you can rebuild the whole chevrolet with that good pen i mean there's just i'm going to be here forever there's a lot of good stuff in here is what i'm saying so that's good there let's jump over to the other side and see what we got i actually need this for lawsuit i'll keep that whoa that tank looks yikes what do we got going on here oh they just ran a wood screw through the sill plate this is a factory option actually it lets air breathe through the ankles down here right there yep there we go anyway tank oh yeah look at that she's brand and new that's nice so there's a hint right there it's got a brand new fuel tank in it but just keep an eye on that 76 000 55.6 miles i'm gonna say a million 76 000 probably wrong era steering wheel that's definitely you know a decade newer nothing just there's nothing happening there so that's fine i kind of like the variety pack here how's this one go surprisingly the better looking door has a worser window huh look how far off this is i mean that's how cab is is the door literally holds the truck the door somewhat literally holds the truck together most would say that's concerning i just think you just ignore that until you know a guy can always take the door off so then you don't even know that that's happening right still getting news to tennessee got to stay hydrated someone said ice water anyhoo enough jaw jacking let's get into the power barn here and see what we got going on oh it's already popped hinges are in really good shape oh well we got a v8 that's a good start and wow okay i want the devil's ford motorcraft okay i just the concerned level might have just ticked up a notch where's the radiator cap doesn't exist great more junk here's what we got going on i don't know we'll just try to figure it out we got some fast and furious wiring going on here you know blue and yellow and disconnected and unhooked sounds like a soap opera write that down anywhose we got rams head exhaust manifolds them used to be a hot rodder secret back in the day if you can get headers you just run these they got better flow than the other ones like the 70s and 80s what not this could be a 327 nope unlikely very probably a 307 but most unlikely a 283 being she's got the one lunger on her oh there's a clue right there holly remanufactured with a date of i don't know i don't know 2009. that matches the lps so what do you got we found a snake oh okay i guess let's name it herbert and put it on the ground okay we're gonna go put it back in the trees okay guys been hooking us peepers on the rest of this you know did a scan and whatnot and she's already got the he and i lightning wheeler back there so that's an upgrade otherwise she'd have the coil and points or contacts or whatever you call them i don't know this is new is what i'm saying it does have some s on the base down here so i'm going to say this is a pre-existing condition for your medical fillers and that didn't come into the repair shop for that we've also got a newer-ish looking fuel pump making happener down there see that see and also the same with the starter there's even a tag hanging off of it still the fuel make it happener's definitely locked up even though she's been rebuilt on she's stuck so we'll have to get some juice on this if we want that you know so we've got a lot of new parts as well as the fuel capacity holder could be one of those deals where feller just got a little too deep in her you know and couldn't swing it or it's something else much worse we just don't know what it is transmission could be shot rear end engine could be blowed up i mean it's hard to say so i think let's move on and just see if we can roll this puppy over by hand make sure the engine spins freely and then we'll just kind of go from there you know a large volume of the time a feller or fellat should be able to reach in here and spin this motor over by hand a lot of the times when we're messing with old rigs like this there's smog era stuff or tired worn out engines that don't have a lot of compression if there's belts still on the thing push down on a belt and grab a fan blade and just heave hoe it should rotate it enough to let you know that it's free anyway so we're going to try that first because well i'm lazy we've got no such luck thus far no i just severely bent the fan blade so i'm going to do the right thing and just leave that it'll eventually tear apart the water pump so far actually not looking very good first test failed engine might be stuck great let me get a socket wrench we'll put her off the snout there and see if we can get her to spin did i bring tools oh yeah over on brown sugar guys got a ratchet on here move these blades slightly so i don't fillet the phalanges move slightly but that was just a bolt tightening on the crank come on i just ate a spider well the good news is it's a beautiful day the even better news is this engine is locked tighter than an ex-wife's diary and i ain't kidding you you know an average feller even a filler with less than average iq would probably stop now and just part this thing out maybe make 25 bucks but i'm gonna do the right thing see if a guy can get this thing unstuck if for lucky it's just froze rings or maybe some sticky valve train if we're not so lucky she's blown up you know so i'm going to start by pulling sparklators out and we could jam a camera in there and just take a gander and see what we're working with we should also pull the stick of dip on this thing see if there's any water in the oil and that's a pretty good indication if there's a bad head gasket or cracked block or you know something not mechanically right water is always going to settle to the bottom down there when you pull up your dipstick so get her out just take a gander should be like a milkshake color on the bottom there no that's all oil in fact that's fresh oil i mean new so that's good news must have had a neural change and just parked up maybe could have been included with the other parts i don't know at this point but there's no water in oil that's for sure i also didn't taste any gas or antifreeze so i think we're good as far as the block head gaskets and heads go so hopefully like we're talking just some rings or some valve train let's get these sparklaters out yes ah okay sure snag all of these out sooner than later you know number two here is just finger tight that's fine but line all of them up by cylindre here and see what they can tell on us first one is richer than bill gates where do i set these down there i guess we'll figure it out not only are we going to read on these but we got to pull them out anyway because we're going to be filling the cylinders up full of juice here try to break this thing free same story there with that one yes yeah you know we just might be looking at a lost cause here as far as the engine goes so i'm going to try to keep the cost you know let's bring it down a little bit i don't want to throw a bunch of parts or money at this thing so oh there goes the socket for life great [Music] not good some sort of bird squawking in a latino not sure i'll just ignore it oh i think i just broke my ratchet that's fine i'm back ratchet number three it's a story that's you know it's the same basically which that's fine honestly i wonder what celine dion's doing and more importantly did she ever figure out if she's near or far [Music] oh found vacuum leaks number nine and ten sequentially lots of gas and water number seven plus fouled that might be our sticky point where she's locked up it could be a valve guy just doesn't know fouled rich same story what we do know what this engine is it's not going to be a lifter right because it's a flat tappet hydraulic lifter and it could have what's called or referred to as a sticky lifter which is just where the lifter is not pumping up but it's not going to be stuck in its bore that's very very rare unless this was flooded or swamped that lifter is just going to ride on the camshaft there which transfers through the push rod through the rocker arm to the valve now the valve can be stuck open or closed depending on how much moisture is crept up the exhaust or through the intake that's fairly common and the other one obviously kind of coincides with that is the piston rings they can form a ridge in there and just get stuck same thing moisture traveling through the exhaust or the intake so i think what we'll do is just jam a camera down here and just hook our peepers into it you know let's see what that says to us probably nothing that's fine waste of time and then we'll fill her up with juice take the valve covers off we'll bang on the valves a little bit see if them are still bouncing around on us and that'll kind of give us more of a story of what's going on here and if it's likely or not that we can get this thing to free up and i don't know at this point can we get it to ron maybe i don't know i don't know at this point got her scoped in cylinder number two here and i got to be honest this looks pretty good i mean cylinder walls look great there's no cross hatching left it's vertically scarred but i mean that's typical of a high mileage engine but what i'm looking at is this ridge right here where the piston is sitting and there's not a bunch of water or rust or anything like that so that's looking pretty decent i'm going to keep moving around here it's probably most likely going to be two cylinders in here that are full of water or rust depending on where the firing order is currently at which you know i didn't even pay attention to to be honest that's most likely going to be our culprit but we'll probably end up just soaking everything down anyway and just making this look like a scene from murder she wrote here's a different story we're on cylindra number seis and you can see where my scope kind of hit the top of the piston so it's on tdc but there's a pile of rust and you can see there's a bunch of moisture in it and whatnot and you can see all the moisture that's creeped into the combustion chamber there which is going to be a culprit of making those rings just kind of stick in there we're going to keep moving on but we're going to see the same thing on the opposite side over there 99.32753 repeating well we're halfway through it we're on number eight right now and this for sure is going to be an issue i know this is kind of hard to see this is cylinder number eight back here here's the edge of the piston right there but i can actually see some sort of vegetation algae or moss or something in here and this is all discolored it's rust colored through here and you can see that it's pitted or scored up this is going to be locked right there there's no way around that so we're gonna have to pay a special close attention to our concoction that goes in the cylinder number eight over there and it's probably going to be very likely like i was saying we're going to find something similar on that bank over there but i'll move this over there and see what we can find yeah yeah cylinder number three here on a small block chubby that's capped inside second back you can see that looks not good at tall fellers however i'm not seeing anything right on the edge of the piston where it meets the cylinder wall there so i don't know that that exactly contributes to it being locked up but that is a horrible looking cylinder wall too early to tell if that's going to be an issue with compression or blow by or anything like that we'll just keep moving on see what these last two look like hopefully it's not worse than that guy over there number five couldn't ask for a better example i know it might be hard for you guys to see but those specs or spots that you see on my screen here i could tell that they're water droplets or moisture droplets so that's demonstrating exactly how moisture can creep through the carburetor or up through the exhaust there depending on the valve position and create moisture on the cylinder wall there this thing is just absolutely full of moisture and again i haven't even touched this thing yet and we can see the moisture there and if i move this around just right we can see the top of the piston definitely carboned up fouled up and again some more moisture spots on it but no rust in this one yet which is great news let's move on to the last one here you know i'm going to give that an all clear i think we're pretty good not bad at all so we've got one kind of issue over here and our bad bad one is going to be number eight over on this side so i think what we can do here is just mix up a concoction throw some juice down there let that soak in see if we can free things up and while that's kind of cooking what we'll do is we'll pop these valve covers off real quick and we'll just bang on these rockers and make sure that all of our valve train is free i'm really interested to see what we got back here over here i've read a lot of comments the last couple years you know guys wasting time just throw a battery in her and crank on it fire it up well this has only been sitting 12 years and she's locked tight guy can blow a starter right through the flywheel blow some teeth off get it bound up in the flywheel you can even break an ear off the block i mean i've seen her all fellers it only takes a couple minutes to throw a wrench on that crank make sure you can rotate at 360 degrees first make sure now the valve train is stuck in a piston stuff like that then you can throw your battery in in this case it saved us not only was it a waste of time but we could have prevented ourselves from breaking something or causing some other issues so anywho i got some juice somewhere around here i got a special concoction works every time no 72 percent of the time it works every time i'll show you so here's what we're gonna do we're gonna have a different concoction here by a cylindre depending on the condition we know that number three and number eight are rusted number eight is significantly bad and what i suspect is holding the whole show up here for all the ones that are just halfway decent i'm just gonna pour some marvel mystery oil in it i don't know what's in it it's a mystery okay we're just gonna top them off till it spills out the sparklator holes called good now on the ones that are a little bit rusty the secret weapon is we're going to throw some old school crawl oil in her about seven and then we're gonna give her a splash of clr in this name is calcium lime and rust remover well that last one you know we need its help in this case and then of course you just float her off with this mystery oil i don't know what's in it it's a mystery i got some sort of flexi bendy to be funnel thing here i don't know it'll work you just jam it in there and then just make up your mixture fill them up and while that soaks then we'll take off the valve covers and go from there the other nice thing about doing this is i am pretty sure grass will never grow here again which is you know that's fine with me get in there you little double move on to the next now this one we want just a splash of rust remover right sure glad we agree get that in there and then we'll top her off with this oh yeah let that sit here you go just go home yep get in there oh you're a thirsty fella all right gotta kind of hold bend and pour and avoid the forearm all at once seems to be going good no this is not that's not as planned well when the devil i just let's bring it in here then heavy heavy on the penetrating oil you know just keep going until it doesn't feel right basically that is a nice sunset gonna be honest might have to show you now we're gonna make a really bad chemical reaction that you shouldn't breathe throw some clr in there that went in pretty good and bring around the old mystery oil look i don't know what's in it where'd you go oh there you are see i mean i told you well now that she's juiced up like arnold schwarzenegger you know we'll pop these valve covers off and see if we can see any evidence of moisture getting in here and i got a real quick easy test to make sure the valves are free and you know doing what they're supposed to be doing these are all finger tight too that's fine you don't need tighten bolts well that one was about to fall out easy disassembly yeah okay sure old school court gasket with 750 gallons of room temperature vulcanization cream on it that's fine some sort of lock washer that shouldn't be on the inside hanging out sure that's to the valve cover what is this bolt that's to the valve cover well it was to the valve cover it's now somewhere on the ground so we do have two or three valves that are stuck or sticking on this side and one easy way to tell is just using a dead blow here and it's kind of hard to explain unless you experience it yourself but you could take this tonya harding 200 dead blow and bang it off the end of the rocker right where the valve spring is and based on the sound and the feel you can determine which valve is moving freely on the spring and which one is stuck or sticking in whatever position or orientation it's in and this can get a little bit tricky and it's kind of hard when these stick especially when the pistons are locked sometimes you can knock these valves down rotate the engine and actually use the piston to push the valve back up and you can keep working them back and forth that way but if the piston isn't even moving then it gets a lot more difficult so i'm going to show you really quick kind of what that sounds like back here it's kind of just a light springy feels loose on my wrist so that one's moving hear that difference this one's stuck you can actually hear it echoing in the combustion chamber that one's moving hear that one stuck that is also an exhaust valve probably not a coincidence open stuck exhaust valve open open so we've got a couple exhaust valves that are stuck on this side now i have a feeling we're going to find the same thing if not worse or baddest on this side based on how that cylinder wall looked there in the back so i think what i'm going to do i'm losing daylight pretty quick here we're going to let that just soak in i'm going to take that valve cover off and i'm going to go ahead and work on these valves as much as i can tonight i'm going to shoot some juice in there and just keep beating on them like a screen door basically and i'll just keep working bank to bank back and forth for another i don't know hour hour 15 minutes and we'll catch up in the morning and see how this thing is doing clearly that means you know it's the next day now confirmed she soaked overnight where i left off was well we had some valve stuck both banks that's great and the rotating assembly she wasn't rotationalizing so basically non-improved but being that it soaked overnight i think we put the wrench on her see if we can get this thing to crack over today and then i brought a jack handle get some leverage out of here maybe that'll do it nope probably snap the bolt off in the crank huh that's fine all right what are you going to tell me here today oh the old l9 just cracked nothing on the engine moved though let's try again nope let me get the big pipe all right you little devil [Music] oh we got footage in the way can i get can i get a couple more just need like two or three more clicks there we go yeah it's you know stuck basically let's start with the valve train here and just go down and whack a mole them see if anything's freed up last night i hit them with the arrow coral soaked them down really good hopefully that followed the stem down and freed these up i had i think three on this side and four on this side it's worse on the drinker side believe you me would you quiet down backtalkers anyway i'd like to check something off the list here if we get all the valves moving then we know that that's not sticking up the engine it's definitely the rotating assembly we got to be a little bit careful here though we get a valve stuck down and the engine doesn't rotate we can't use the piston to push it back up oh might have to pull the head off at that point we might also take the rockers off we got to be a little bit careful if we get to whacking them too hard with the town of 200 here you got to be a little bit careful too and not be banging on the side with the push rod you could damage the lifter there and then you're in a whole nother mess anyway let's see what we got here hey that one freed up that one freed that one did hey that's great news so all of them are free now on the captain's side take it i'll take it here on this side you can see lots of moisture here and also back here on number eight and you'll notice that the exhaust valve is open here and this is the cylinder that's really good up i know it sounds weird but that's common fellers that moisture just creeps right on up the exhaust and settles on in there anywho let's see what we got free [Music] that one we're not going to be able to tell that one freed up that one freed up too so that's great news all of the valve train is velvet latent so now we just need to focus in on i think it was number eight and number three i can't remember we should probably stick a camera down and see how much juice is left in there another thing you can do is just pull the dipstick here and we still have straight oil on here so that way we know that we don't have any busted rings or holes and pistons or anything like that because all of that juice would have just went right down into the crate case there well a guy might have to step up his mixture a little bit go full nuclear here remember when you were a kid go to the gas station soda fountain there and you just that's ice you know tasted horrible look cool i called them a tornado then you put them in the bladder buster you know the big cup any hooves i think i'm going to go ahead and do that here a little bit of diesel kerosene splash of atf coca-cola smidge white vinegar and then just a splash of brute on top you know brings the aroma around pretty much everything that you're not supposed to drink just dump it in here we can also run her right down the throat hole last night i juiced this up a little bit too oh it did come free actually i was not expecting that doesn't come back but she goes wide open which is good enough now we could just dump our mixture right down the app and oh probably just spill out a little bit you know that's okay gotta find a five gallon bucket this got a hole in it i think it does this doesn't look right there's lines of foam in here and it's kind of congealing and some sort of bubbles maybe that means it is right not sure just dump her down just a reminder absolutely under no circumstances use axe body spray i said brute okay boy she's thirsty keep going it's kind of turning a hot pink color almost a jellish form okay we got spillage on number two she must be up towards the top you know so what we'll do is put our finger in that plug ah feels like battery acid and keep going so we can fill up the others a little bit more there we go perfect well guy ate a sandwich wet down the back neck it's been a few hours is what i'm saying with the nuclear concoction in here just cooking let's see what we got now where's my pipelator there's the one end well for pete's sake i just had it didn't i oh it's right here i might have to take this fan off get a better throw i'm gonna break this bolt off we might have to move to the flywheel oh hey i think it just went or did i slip no it's turning i'll be dipped we didn't get far though let's go back the other way maybe okay sure it's going backwards i got juice coming out of seven you know there's just we're slicing and dicing so she rolled clockwise for a little ways and hit a ridge you can see it poured out the juice and number one here and i can roll it back a little ways too but i got to get this fan out of here not a lot of bent these blades all up i just i can't rotate this and get my hand in there very good that'll only take a minute since the shroud's missing borrowed this super starts battery from the duster up the hill there on rusty acres my thought was we can get it turning over you know 82 percent of the way can a guy just hook the clamps up use the starter and get a run and start on it you know and use the starter basically what's going to happen is we're going to have to go back and forth back and forth on that piston because it's going to come up the cylinder and hit a ridge where it was stuck there for who knows how long but i prefer not to use the starter if you can i get this fan off of here hopefully i can just start twirling around all the way with my hand how long are these bolts for pete's sake got the old back rack waterfall going on great whoa this entire firewall is just coming right off ah factory option you can fold them down and tune on the fly that's that's that's that's you little devil oh come on now oh drop the spacer yes get out of here okay now a guy's got some room should we bring this belt all the way off we'll wait yeah stuck again see down down stuck right there okay come back this way hit her harder oh we might be through it there we go maybe we got juice coming out all over the place oh yeah sounds like taco tuesday under the hood it's all right let's keep moving i think we're all the way around there we go well hey fellers we did it the c10 is no longer locked up she's unlocked d-locked not frozen unfrozen what i'm saying is the engine is no longer stuck it's rotating and that is fantastic news we've taken what was sold as a parts truck and turned it into a potential project hopefully for some young buck out there that wants to you know bust some knuckles and keep this whole thing going by using the starter there we can get these pistons just pumping you know faster than we can by hand and we can clean up these cylinder walls a lot faster plus we got 37.2 leak trays of some sort of jellish goop that we created we got to get that blowed out we're going to jam the fuel make it happener open so we're sucking some air down cleaning out the intake and whatnot and we're just gonna run that starter until we can smell it burning you know and just bring her to the edge of existence if it even works probably not looks new nope refurbished well these cables are from the nixon administration but that's okay plop these on here this one is barely hanging on by a thread that's all right okay whoa there's already sparks in here so that's good i guess the fast and the furious wiring you know it's not so fast i guess i don't know what that was i don't have a watch but i'm thinking enough time has passed i think we're good on the fire test everything seems to be okay thus far let's crank her over reach in here and twist on the key starter works and keep going you guys let me know if you see smoke coming off them cables oh starter's getting weak already how are we looking under here oh you did your job don't see any smoke nothing bent doesn't look like lifters definitely aren't pumped up that's why they're shaking like they're in roller blades for the first time you know don't bring the thunder let's just roll her over let's go ahead and jam this camera down that cylindre again and see what it looks like now i don't know yet that's why we're using this well all the big huge rust deposits are gone and i know this is hard for you guys to see i apologize but there is some nasty vertical scars in here now which that's to be expected when you're scraping all that stuff off i mean you got to know when you're getting into getting something locked unlocked cylinder walls and rings they're going to be affected a little bit but we got the desired result all that's cleaned off essentially so it's gonna run on eight it's just gonna be a little down on that cylindre as far as compression goes and might use just a pitch of oil that's okay i'm not judging it well let's you know let's put some stuff back together now get the valve covers back on i got some new sparklators we'll jam those in we'll check the firing order make sure that's correct get the fan back on and all that then we'll move on to do we have any lightning and then we'll jam some fuel might could happen or down the app see if we can get this thing to make some noise guys got the exterior you know buttoned up onto the sparklators mine are significantly soaked in atf for some reason probably the easy thread models guys going to want to pay close attention to whatever the specs are in your engine gapping your spark plugs is a really important part of making sure your engine operates correctly gapped pop these in real quick here i don't think this sad battery cable is going to hang around much longer just barely in there it's hotter than shakira doing a limbo on a two-piece right now but i'm just gonna try to fight through it i think we're getting really close to getting this thing fired off as long as we got lightning we could pour some fire maker down it believe you me well is this thread gonna start do i gotta switch to my good hand a lot of guys got all the sparkle lighters in i got the key turned on you know we're gonna check for 12 vs up here on the lightning roller make sure we got the best chance for a lightning storm it should be as close to the battery voltage as possible but i don't know we're gonna find out here in a second it's body grounded there we go 12.3 12.4 okay well we got v's up here so that's good plug this back in so we know we got some battery juice up to the lightning roller that should be all we need really that's all plugged in so we'll throw some fire maker down there and let's just see if it barks off at all probably not no idea where my little delicate mustard squirter is so we'll just hit her with the five gallon jug you know oh whoa do i got a fire extinguisher down here i don't think i do all right here we go got no throttle back how we come should have brought my lone wolf six thousand that fix all this mess in a hurry okay first attempt no way immediately started that sounded pretty good lots of smoke of course that's typical with everything we put in it i'm just i mean i mean i knew it the whole time you know that's crazy this thing was just locked up first start attempt fired right off it sounded pretty decent i didn't even hear valve train clacking well we know the fuel tank is new i wonder if we just pour some fresh fuel on this and fill the bowl in the carburetor see if it just will run that would be that would be weird it runs locked up who knows how many years sit for 12 years here it is running of course it's got a ton of blow by it's smoking like crazy right now but that's to be expected with everything we dump down it the rings haven't come back around i'm only going to run it for maybe another minute then i got to shut it off there's no coolant in it right now and then we can top all that off fire it back up this is crazy [Music] good old truck got some peak ice cubes here we'll dump down the throat then we can let it run a little bit longer see if that thermostat opens up if then it even has one probably not it is obviously pulling from the fuel tank though so that's really good news oh it wasn't empty empty actually there's a little bit in there you want to twist on it again see if it fires up hold on hold on [Music] key stick mission tumbler stuck he even pulled the keys out and it was still twirling on let me uh let me adjust on the idle a little bit first get the carburetor adjuster 7000 ounce bring the idle up about 376 rpm oh yeah right there it's where we need it okay go ahead again [Applause] okay hold on now yep we're getting there i just okay try her again look at that running like she was shut off yesterday [Music] i don't think any of these gauges work got no temps not charging oh look at that hold the oil pressure gauge just enough what is that almost 30 pounds idling plenty for a cheby doing pretty good just sitting here kind of warming up right now sounds like it's firing on all eight fuel gauge is not working it says it's not charging i guess i could put the meter on that quick still got a lot of blow-by although it's settling down a little bit so it wasn't charging i had the meter on it and i just wiggled the field wire and then she started growing like that i got 13 4 13 5 out of it so it's charging out just a bad connector loose connection that's weird but stick just gonna let her sit here and run a little bit more you can see it's circulating now thermostat open all is well got a little bit of oil pressure i got the idle screw turned up a little bit yet got a vacuum leak i haven't quite fixed smoke's coming down it's doing good valve train's not making a whole bunch of noise it's got pretty fresh oil in it from what i saw chances are that oil was changed right before it was sparked with all the other parts so we're just gonna run her we didn't see any evidence of anything leaking into the crankcase i can't hear the idle fluctuating all over the place we've got some vacuum leaks to address but it ain't going to hurt it while she warms up here a little bit we got to blow out all this oil and snake juice and everything else we put in there as well sounds pretty good though when all that shoes run for two minutes and 48 seconds consecutively miles will give her a vitamin injection give her the berryman b12 here and let's see how many rpm we can get out of this thing huh yeah that's what i thought too bring the thunder oh that sticky little devil well doesn't quite classify as a go on the town rig yet bubble we'll bring it around you don't worry how is it now see already ready to go well heater hose wants to lay on the gas pedal now we go come on [Music] oh yeah we'll put her right down the out so well this whole thing was pretty hungry we'll just dump the rest of it in there she's boiling let it cook see that smoke rolling out i don't know what it's baking in there but cleans the valve train up all the crud out of the combustion chamber it's definitely flooded now maybe i'll go put some hay up for a little bit i don't know gotta kill some time well it's you know it's sometime later is what i'm saying we'll give her a whirl guy's gonna hold her wide open she's still flooded blow this berryman's out wants to get her fired up she's gonna purr like a kitten in front of a bowl of milk just watch and see throttle's still hooked up nice wow she's really anxious again ouch that was really hot probably second degree burn good thing i can't feel that anyway throttle came disconnected oh no she's just stuck wide open well let's try it again that's okay all right [Music] battery's dead sure well i got my brand new jump box hooked up over here you know so that means i've got 10 seconds of cranking power before it's got to give the battery a break just think about things so i'm gonna crank on it all of that and see if i can get her fired back up okay bring the thunder [Music] [Applause] so oh yeah listen that thing now like it just came off the lot basically well while she's purring here on high idle i'm gonna jump in see if we got a clutch try to grab some gears and see if this thing moves not going to worry about brakes you know that's low and lasts on the list but i'm thinking this is going to be a three speed so i'm just going to check that really quick make sure we got some gears all right pressure on the clutch pedal this should be reverse nope this should be first nope well that's first that's reverse okay well good news is we got clutch it is a three speed but because it went on the floor i guess it's backwards so normally where reverse is that's second i guess first is down to the right reverse just gonna take a while to get used to i don't know i probably got a gallon of gas left let me move some stuff around and let's just scoot it around a little bit i don't know should we check for brakes first no you're right let's just just go well we got a little bit of room for a stretch and abandoned out here on rusty acres so truck sitting right here let me grab a gear and we'll tootle her around a little bit first time being driven in 12 years [Music] [Music] oh well currently the throttle is affixed in this position it just got stuck wide open a minute ago but we got her unjarred and now we just got to head back to where we started i figured we keep heading this way we're either gonna hit a power pole or a line of cars one of the two you know about where we're at no this truck isn't that bad except i mean runs pretty good grab second right off camera here throttle rod came unhooked of course it was in the wide open position stuck so hit the brake pedal you're not going to believe this but there's no brakes nothing happened so i just reach down and turn the key off you're also not going to believe this but nothing happened didn't turn off the ignition's been known to be a little bit unreliable in the unit so i did the right thing and said hang on grabbed third gear and down the hill we went scoot's pretty good might i say through a field also goes sideways through a field both doors don't latch noted any hooves we're back up here in the same spot still running blowing smoke doing its thing i think i might pour some brake juice in or pump on the brakes see if the master cylinder at least works no surprise on the stop later liquid completely gone of course you should bleed these so i'm gonna do the right thing and just top them off in fact i'll overfill them brings a lot of that sediment and bad stuff from the bottom right over the top you know flushes it a little bit stick this back on and we'll just pump the pedal and see what happens it'll give us kind of a direction anyway in which we should go it's sure what a guy's really doing here and i know it sounds crazy but i'm listening for leaks a popped brake line has a very distinct sound yeah we got a leak somewhere even if we didn't bleed these it'll build a little bit of pressure on the pedal unfortunately i can't even hear it this time because the pedal is just squawking away in here but we've got absolutely none breaks it's building zero pressure that's fine completely used to it they taped over the chevrolet button why would they do that oh there's my phone knew that didn't have it since yesterday that's brakes don't work but maybe the doors don't close throttle randomly sticks key doesn't work well most of the time but that don't mean she don't deserve to get some water sprinkled down on the hood here i'm gonna ease her over to the house quick try to wash this thing before jessica realizes that i added another rig to the rusty acres here probably not going to work [Music] here we go with the same old thing like i said something just to ruin your mood and [Music] know [Music] [Applause] [Music] sometimes you're on fire [Music] [Applause] [Music] nobody's [Music] well fellers a week ago this truck was listed for parts basically scrap don't run tell me what you need and i just knew that i had to save on this old rig it was destined for the scrap yard or he stripped down and sat on some rock pile somewhere yesterday didn't run the engine was locked up most fellers would say that'll never run today we drove it first time in 12 years and who knows how many it's been locked up so now i don't know do we put maybe 500 bucks in it see if we could drive it down the road it's really not that bad of a truck to be honest or maybe i just send it on down the line for some young buck to break his knuckles on it and get the thing going himself but that's going to do it for now thanks guys for watching appreciate it very much see you next time [Music] you
