a guy just bought this 1969 cadillac sedan deville it's been off the road and hasn't run in 32 years so i'm gonna do the right thing and just try to fire it up and you know scoot it home over 600 miles welcome to vice grip garage [Music] [Applause] [Music] you're not going to believe this but we got keyage and i'm talking original duplicate ace hardware there's a lot of them in here this property might look a little bit familiar to some of you in fact i just picked up that 68 lasabre up on the hill over there a couple other things blazer stuff like that this rig here from what i'm told came out of nebrasky and uh must have been part of an estate or something real estate agent got a hold of my friend here and said there was a couple cars sitting on the property had to get cleaned up before they could sell the property and this was one of them being it's an actual abandoned car i have no paperwork or documentation or a title just these so we'll have to dig through it and see if we can piece together that timeline and at least validate the 32 years thing but i'm hoping it'll run and make it road worthy and i say that you know loosely can it roll can we can it go down the road and then i'm gonna see if i can make it but let's walk around this thing see what we got i'd like to start in the trunk first kind of tells the whole story if you find a head or a fuel make it happener maybe a charging wheel or three kind of lets you know what you're in for i believe this is a 69 flavor i got a 70 the betty white cadillac so this would be kind of neat if i can get this home with it i might be off on here i don't think so but i could be wrong it's late enough in the air she's got dual pipelaters on it tail lamps busted out on that side there is some rust starting through pretty much everywhere in the car it's not horrible but this stuff here is just the pits must have used to have a top on it of course and that moisture just gets in here and does a number someone tried to silicon it that didn't really do nothing this doesn't look originally got a little bit of weight reduction some bondage i think this panel might been replaced on kind of a root beer brown color something like that oh she's blowed out down here oh yeah there's some bondo there you can see here it's pop riveted so it's had some body work done for sure i don't know when though hard to say hi there feller what kind of creature is that i don't know it hops up front pretty solid grill's all there looks like more rust over here paint's starting to go away on her but that's okay there's still a little bit on the side i wonder if this side's blowed out too yep it is all the tires are down it actually did sit right here but we just had a car show out here so a lot of these cars just got scooted back to make a little bit more room this fender doo dab might have to come all the way off you don't want that just flapping in the wind you know but i think she's got all the hub calculators pretty sure all be dipped it looks like it had lower quarters and lower fenders i don't know about the doors yet but she's had some work had ruff doesn't seem to have a bunch of hail damage which a lot of the cars out here do unfortunately from a big storm a few years back hud looks pretty decent got a dinger dang it but it's pretty clear over there anyway and we got some muffler boxes and some sort of alien astronaut thing in the window i think that saves on the dash so that's good these are actually for this car just in case i had these scent ahead of me and shipped right here so if we get her running i got some tires if we don't get her running i got tires for sale see what kind of story the trunks going to tell us hopefully there's at least a spare back here and minimal engine parts guy doesn't want to find a head or a charging wheel or a 4 or power twister here we go not telling us much let's see what the trunk has to tell us now not telling me anything right now try this one here we go well for pete's sake shocks are decent nope they're bad so that's good i'm struggling here with the keys none of them seem to be you know operating the lock here can't say i've ever really ran into this yes i have 2009 and 2011 respectively but i'm saying it's not often you got a pile of keys and i just whatever well let's go ahead and crack the seal on this guy it's hot it is thick it smells like wet band-aids and old fly traps if i'm being honest i think i'm going to open this one up too and oh just got oh it's a never mind thought it was bubble gum or something but it's a killer bees or some sort of wasp nest that's fine oh weird there's a carpet remnants in this car would not expect that interior is deluxe so let me get you in here this is what a guy squished his hand into and it just didn't feel right there for a second look at the pattern in here now this is a d luxe going to town rig and i ain't kidding ya it's even on the armrest better get the rust checker in here right away seems to be pretty good actually dash see these boxes might have saved it looking pretty good so far headliner is it's lined up a couple mees entrance an exit but other than that pretty good pretty good see it isn't all tore up we'll have to go look at the pedals close see if we can figure out the miles and what not in here oh we got paperwork okay that's one way to just dump her out 1969 so it is a 69 original manual i'll be dipped just leave that right there it's this here last registration maybe 89 unless this is a registration receipt 1989 what is that taxes or something i don't know but everything is 1989 1989 so i would say pretty strongly that this car actually was parked in 1989 so that does make it 32 years this thing's been sitting hope i didn't break that probably i'll come back later little guy we'll figure it out got more nestage pretty much everywhere i'm assuming they're going to be in the other door as well let's go crack the seal on the other side yeah oh yeah so there's a quite a few of them in there quite a few up here as well let's see looks like it says 0.5479 so then it becomes a question of is it 105 or 205 here's the armrest seat and pedals look pretty good actually steering wheel is too just dry rotted to really get much out of that but based on just the seat pedals and armrests i would be pretty confident saying that's probably 105 000 miles which is awesome all the doors open pretty nice rig you got the uh-oh handles back here it's even got more of a wet laundry smell back here more than anything there's another nest fill up when i open the door apparently is that what you call them hive home fort whatever pretty much everywhere on this thing that's great it's harder than shania twain and a two-piece out here and i ain't kidding you what i meant to say was let's just jump right in and open the hood see what we got under here in the power barn oh okay looks like we need a proper later 400 probably oh maybe not okay rotten hoses broke things oh here this must be the proper later right here sure enough is well okay [Music] yeah hey there my little human bentley's with me today he's gonna be helping me out here's what we got under here it looks to be pretty complete i mean there's some vacuum hoses that have been chewed off of course some wires that don't look quite right i think this is fuel only for q-jet that's been played with because the lid's all funkalized up got a blue kind of colored windshield motor thingy so that's been replaced on this is also that's chrome might not get you home but it looks nice that's been replaced what is this that an airline okay that's plugged into the fuel so it looks like someone tried to get it running at one point basically is what i'm seeing here found another nest yeah sure enough they're just doing the thing this one is really full more than the lasabre probably huh more over here well let's just let them alone and they'll let us alone for now okay deleted even though a guy can't get the trunk i think we're gonna be okay because engine looks complete for the most part so i think we're maybe safe there gonna move on and check on the fluids a little bit and then we'll see if we could turn this thing over by hand and then we'll throw a battery in this thing and start checking on the lightning system and looks like someone already tried to cobble in a fuel system so i'm gonna do the right thing and do the same thing and we'll see if we can get this to bark off first then we'll move into transmission be nice to have park and first gear maybe second i don't know depends on how big of a hurry a guy is in and then lastly brakes maybe a power window i don't know i don't know sneak in here and check on earl all the way well actually it looks overfilled by 14 quarts lots of gas in it a lot of gas so that kind of tells us someone tried to get it running unsuccessfully 342.9 times just dumped a bunch of fuel in it or it could be a bad fuel pump pumping into the crankcase but being it's been sitting so long doubtful very well can a guy get a wrench down in here now see if we could spin this thing over we could also just toss a battery right in it and just bump the starter a couple times i'll try the wrench first yeah guy can't fit a sasquatch number one or two from the top here so guy's gonna bring her up in the air and try to get it from the bottom oh yeah also krang is here he's right there [Applause] i wonder if a guy and a guy could see if these front tires hold air while we get some weight off them [Applause] because that might help us too we're going to try to air these tires up a little bit too well i got some bait off of them so place your bets now if they're actually going to hold anything yeah this one's not going to go the beads off of it but we'll try the other one i want to say i missed that but reality is just too lazy to look but that one doesn't stand a chance coming back around until we get it off this one however might actually do something might get lucky on the rears too probably got pushed off the bead when the car got scooched back got one anyway it's kind of overly cautious doing it this way but if and a guy does have a locked up engine you don't want to blow the flex plate in half and get the starter stuck and everything and all that stuff so oh the brake lines look like rotten twizzlers so that's good i just can't even see i got spider webs in my eyeballs why did i pull wood out of the damper is there a stick jammed in the front that's what was in there huh well like i was saying earlier we're just going to throw a battery on this because you know we want to just see if it cranks real quick so we're going to do that now very specific reason i brought this battery with she's got a go handle and it was on sale also has a bad clamp so we're going to replace that [Applause] we're going to perform a fire test here whenever you put a new battery an old rig like this you want to look for melty wires burning stuff mice can get in here and other rodents short things out and kaboof there goes the project car believe you me no yeah i think we're doing good but we either have to over tighten get the tiny 200 on it or put another new clamp on the negative side why are you always so sad so this is basically brand new thankfully we've got this unhooked to the carb i wonder if a guy i'm gonna do it i'm gonna get down here quick and just disco the fuel line from the tank to the pump so when we're cranking it over testing this we're not sucking up any varnish or who knows what's in there into the pump because i'd like to not replace on that thing if i can help it and that's already disconnected like i was saying so give me a minute and i'm gonna pop that off quick well a guy was laying under there taking that line off and a nap took my plier and just tippy tapped on the end of the oil filter and she almost went all the way through so that tells you how long that's been on there don't know the brand yet we'll figure it out i think we're ready for me to jump in and just twist on this thing and i'm not gonna do much we just wanna oh wait it's not a mopar so it'll sound like a real starter but long as it spins and we can stop has anybody around here seeing the keys this is why i don't like them wait a minute i think i set them over here didn't i that i put them on the trunk ignition test one buzzer locked she's spinning now that was kind of scary there for a second all these butterflies are starting to get angry she turned over and then it would clunk and just didn't sound good but maybe our new battery post clamp just wasn't quite doing the thing but that's fantastic news she turns over so let's pull some sparklators out of this thing and see what them look like we can read on them with our papers figure out how this thing ran last maybe even stick a bore scope down there look at the pistons and the cylinder walls and then we'll just start working our way through the rest of the lightning system [Music] i was really trying to save on some money since i already bought some tires on this and i wanted to just clean the spark layers up and reuse them but these are so shot it's not even funny and this is an ac delco plug i believe this is a 44 xls but you can see the old school green paint now they have a blue lettering on them so this is probably mid 80s early 90s they got to go so unfortunately we had to put 45 bucks and sparklaters in it but now i'll try to save on the lightning hoses and some other stuff as long as the mises didn't get in here we might be able to just reuse some of this maybe even the air filtration system i don't even know if that thing works oh yeah she's locked up that's good you can definitely tell i'm the new owner because when you feed her the onions now she just stays there so i'm gonna do the right thing and just leave that seems fine little guy juiced this up and seems to be coming around this is definitely the wrong spring so i'm gonna do the right thing and leave that and then i accidentally breathed on the upper rad hose and that's not normal there's also not a thermostat guy always wonders why do folks park these rigs up and that's a pretty good hint that was it getting hot i mean why would the thermostat be gone there's not even a clamp later on unless it got robbed for something else but from experience you got to take the ac pump off and it's a nightmare so i don't know i just don't know how's that coming oh it's really easy to get in there what kind of creature is that also pretty neat i was looking at the ice cube maker over here this has a different logo i think it is a frigidaire but normally they're blue cadillacs kind of like that sticker up there and i got the cleaning on it and it says okay final test buick so i that's interesting she's pluggalized she's been juiced up a couple times you want to put as many of these butt connectors in a seven inch distance as possible helps with the impedance and whatnot well somewhat good news all the sparklators are the same just lots of carbon buildup fouled so they just needed a good change and i'm hoping we can tune on her a little bit that these will self-clean you can also run a hotter plug as the engines get older and that'll help clean these up as well so they don't get so silly but he's got one left and that's done oh no i saved the easy one for you oh back there yeah perfect i know it's kind of tough for you guys to see this but i got the scope of bores just jammed down in here and the cylinder wall is like brand and new and i ain't kidding you at least in this one i don't see any vertical scarring there is a little bit of carbon buildup on the piston but it's really not that bad so that's fantastic news there we're going to move on and do a sparkle test here basically a guy can just jam this in line hook this in there crank will twist on the ignition stick and if this blinks at me then i know the lightning system's working we can kind of just keep on moving additional more gooder news crank didn't notice any chips or me spites or anything like that coming out of the lightning hoses here doesn't guarantee that they're good but increases the odds 13.62 so hopefully we could save some money there not even going to crack this open until we test for sparkles and then we'll jump in this can get expensive if you start replacing on all that i think they're getting angry look out behind you now right in there get out of here oh there's a thousand in there quick get in there and now they're kind of just circling by the way you've seen this delta 88 over here i'm just going to kneel down by it i think i think i need to come back for this if you agree bleep bloop that down below all right go ahead yeah positive sparklage also i just noticed a three man sticker on the old charging wheeler this thing's brand new basically huh also there's a horse eating a tree about 58 feet from here i don't know why every time i come here well i guess at this point the guy and a guy and a little feller probably going to take this and try to get it down on the left by the shop while we still got a little bit of daylight left then we don't got to roll around in the grass and whatnot but we're getting close to firing this thing up hopefully for the first time we're going to grab the skid steer down here and we'll drag on it we're going to end up between the two buildings down there on the four post there you go hook it you want to go through the whole link like that and get her a hook up on here too this tire seems to be going up pretty good in fact we'll shut her down there save on some of this battery go get just enough wind in the other one where we can pull it a little bit easier wow for crying in the mud what kind of a there we go this one doesn't look like we're gonna have much of a shot fellers and vallettes is that a funnel spider looks like it here we go ah let's just go with 20 pounds huh when it just sits like that and doesn't build anything starting to go up huh this rig doesn't have tilt but you betcha she's got crews see if i can get vacuum boxes out of the window there we go sure all right i got a can of wasp delete in here just in case all right we're going to drag her up see what happens oh we got an oil light brand new trellis see what happens here [Music] there we go we're rolling [Music] we gotta kind of come up get a wide angle at her come back down the hill there but all the tires seem to be rolling of course that front drinker side is flat but that's okay we'll bring it around a little bit later whoa okay but all the other ones they're not dragging nothing's stuck that's excellent news [Music] well i just had to try to use the brake pedal so i was coming into his bucket hot yeah there's nothing so now we're playing the game of trying to get him away from the bumper enough to steer and me randomly throwing it in park to make that distance up but we're making it we just got to get around the corner here [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] i can't believe it but i guess i got to if you wrench on these buttons hard enough until you got to clinch your teeth this one came down that one came down and the rears they tried so that's pretty good not bad at all going gotta take the jeep recovery vehicle and try to scooch it on in here and hopefully we could end up on lift over here deleted [Music] [Applause] [Music] there we go this will be much better a little bit tricky got a little dicey not onions maybe maters getting it on but it fits that big old white 70 i got is a pretty tight fit at the shop too but this will be a lot better than crawling around in the grass up there these guys i got to get these out of here so they stopped radaring or cb radio and their friends or whatever they're doing was just looking at this and you can see here the repaint wasn't just on the bottom side of the car it was the whole car here's that primer over the original paint and then the second paint so the whole car at one point was sprayed up and had some lipstick put on her but i think at this point we're gonna go ahead and dump some fire maker down and see if we can get this thing to bark or make any noise but if it does seem like it might run then we know we're not wasting money putting some oil and maybe changing on the filter before we try to get it to run for a few minutes i'm going to use some of this true fuel it's fifty to one mixed already so it's got a little bit of two cycle oil and it's nicer to throw it down the carb when you have a little bit of two cycle oil in case it doesn't start and you're also lubricating the top end up too so you're not washing the rings down but i'll try to spill a gallon of this into the vent and then you know a little bit into the fuel make it happener and we'll see if it fires off and like i say if it does then we'll quick shut it down and change the oil and then we can run it a little bit longer with some fresh oil and see if the head gaskets are good and everything else i'm actually getting quite a bit in there surprisingly i forgot my little mustard squirter container thing them are handy whoa that's way way too much that's perfect let's see key is forward make sure the throttle's not stuck and i got my lone wolf 6000 hooked up here see what happens yeah it's gonna run there she goes valve trains clacking pretty good but that's to be expected it doesn't really sound that bad to be honest [Applause] they just don't want to quit there you go it's definitely a runner the valve train was quieting down there towards the end so it started building oil pressure which is a great thing so the downside is the transmission dipstick was blowing oil out of that so oh my goodness that's uh that's a concern i gotta find some kitty litter or something see what's going on with that it's either severely over full or we got something else pretty major going on not quite sure well we throwed some stuff down soaked that up we're just gonna pretend none of that happened basically move on so we're gonna unsnag this and then we're gonna snag on that and then i got a fuel tank around here somewhere and then we'll whip that up here and see if we can get this run for a couple minutes yeah we might even throw some ice cube juice in the rod try to see if there's any leaks there and then maybe this will calm down if we just start you know jamming gears probably not it's overfilled so i've got a fuel line sitting here this had that airline snagalized up on it and i think i'm just going to rubber line it put a filth tray at the end i don't know i think it's that teleon and then hook that into this and i may just happen to have a fill tray for this as well i'll put that in and that way if we run either the boat tank situation or clean out the rear tank either end who and way i'm gonna have a filter down here pre fuel pump make it happener then one post and also on the q jet bog later have one in there as well that way we just got you know nine dollars in filters replaced at a time instead of just four perfect to my surprise that fuel fill tray is pretty clean i'll still give it a couple the carb cleaner and jam that back in and then i got this apparatus all made up so that'll just plug in from the fuel pump to the fuel pump make it happen here and there and then i can move on to just throwing up that tank for here for now until we can you know do the thing all right this is in sure yep we got some brown looking gas that came out of the refrigerator that's plumbed in might take a minute but this should just feed and circulate and do the thing so i'm going to fill the bowl again i'll fire it up this is empty and of course we don't have this hooked up dealer so we can only run it for maybe a minute or two but it might be enough to just you know grab some gears and see what's going on vent tube might be plugged or could be overfilled or just something long not quite sure yet filled this bowl back up idle circuit seems to be working pretty darn good actually and this might run long enough to start pulling some fuel from this tank and then we'll just let her purr for a minute jam this back on here get some sparkles there we go no feel yet there it comes here i should see it up there in a second [Music] oh gotta get the needle on sticker in here there we go oh yeah all right i'll go grab some gears quick see if we got a transmission reverses there drives there for sure nice solid transmission actually again i don't have any brakes at all so i'm just relying on the flat tire to stop me whoa easy now [Music] we got any smoke back here oh yeah heavy smoke out the left side and the right side so that's fine at least they're equal you smell like a house we're not going to be able to run it much longer all right we'll shut it off and see if it comes blowing out again oh there we go yeah that's blood red so i guess we'll see if the vents clogged we might end up having to drop the pan we'll just change the filter while we're in it and then when we fill it we can actually count how much we're putting back in it minus the torque later spinner thing but i haven't seen that since 1977 i don't know about you scout what are you doing going in so we decided we're gonna go ahead and just drop the pan it's probably a good idea to change the fill tray out in this anyway and the rally's actually had a wix kit which has the gasket the filter so that's okay it's money well spent and then i'll try to figure out how many cute tees are in it i jam some brake clean up the vent tube and it immediately came out to filler neck so we're thinking it's like 27 quarts over full but we're going to find out pretty quick so basically easy way to do this take out all the side ones all these side ones leave two here leave two here and then what you do is you can crack these crack these then remove these and the panel hang like this and it'll pour out the back for the most part ish 87.329 percent and you can catch most of it and try to avoid you know murder she wrote well it turns out this was not overfilled we only got about a quart in the daisy box and not even a pan full what's weird and i'm not a transmission guy i shot some brake clean into the vent tube and the first time it just returned and got me right in the pupil second time it came out the filler tube and then the fourth through the 13th time started dripping out of here so i'm wondering if the vent tube was maybe just stuck full of junk i'm hoping anyway we just took about two cases of brake clean and sprayed all this up i'm gonna drop the filter here and we'll also dump this out see how much much material we got in that but i'm thinking this transmission was out because look at this that's not off the assembly line fellers someone just this might be an r r transmission which would explain why the tail shaft is so much cleaner if you could still read the printing on the vacuum accumulator look at the rear seal tail housing seal so this might be a rebuilt transmission at some point but could just be boogered up i don't know i don't know too early to tell and not sure what but there are some big huge chunks of metal in the pan no idea what it is of course but something in there is not happy we definitely do have first and reverse but that doesn't mean it's going to go down the highway right and there's quite a bit of quite a bit of clutch material in here so even though it may be rebuilt at some point it's definitely that's metal that's not cork something big in there is uh not happy got that cleaned up it's about 93.4 percent better crying slamming the new filter in real quick uh we got the gasket down here it's a rubber one instead of the cork benefit of the licks kit and then we'll start throwing some new shift juice in it and i don't know we'll just see what happens i guess easy way to tell chris is helping everything is clean and orderly and then you know snapped off bolt because you've got to do everything as hard and fast as you can so we're going to do the right thing and just pretend that didn't happen while we're under here we figured miles will go ahead and drain this there we go and very small amount of metal on that which is good actually let that do its thing can you he-man off the filter should be right in your mouth seized yeah you're twisting the car so we'll try to find a wrench of some kind yeah someone just snugged that one on stuck again what brand is it yep champ i think that's the first one for me i don't know if i've ever heard of that if you know where to find a champ filter or where they came from what's that some sort of creature with wings bleep bloop it down below but i've never seen that roger might want to keep that oh yeah so there's a chance this might hold some air almost looks like fire right there anyway new field tray got to find a paint marker right the date or the miles on here gentlemen and we're going to do the same with the transgression back here i'm gonna get that off and there's a little valve in here tiny flat blade or standard screwdriver give that a twist clockwise not this way this way that's going to firm up the shifts just a touch and then we're going to bring it back down to earth and we'll put some juice and some other stuff in it by the way this is osha approved you don't have to have all of it on the list there well i decided to completely rebuild the transmission so we're going to do that just by pouring this into half a jug of this and then you shake on it see and then it flows better instead of the maple syrup and this is gonna basically craigslist rebuild that transmission like brand new for oil i'm going to go with the shell rotella t4 heavy-duty diesel oil it's got vitamins and dinosaurs and other stuff in it it's good for these flat tablet cams and then i'm gonna put some lucas oil stabilizer because it says on the bottle oil alone is not enough so i said okay and it's got a flag and an american flag and i don't know we're going to put this in there too same thing pour in a little bit of this i'll dump that into here shake on it and then it'll flow a little bit better if you can help it on your engine like a small block chevy anything from the twos to the threes to the fours the filter goes straight up but on this cadillac she's angled you try to fill that put it in oh that's a mess just pay attention when you fire it back up you don't want the glitter clatter extended engine life i like that hips yeah yep missed by a mile [Music] it's it's yeah it's hits stair oh yeah filled her up with ice cube juice crane got a hose clamp that's too big twisted on and bent everything's topped off we got uh i don't know four minutes run time here what's gonna happen is most of this is just gonna get sent back to the tank in the rear and normally i just hook on the return here bring it back here but b nope too lazy and four i want a little juice in that tank because we're probably going to end up dropping it and shaking leading it we want some stuff in that so i don't know let's fire it up and see what happens i'm just curious i haven't pumped it or primed it i just wanted to see if the keo started oh you bet oh maybe not i don't know if we've got an accelerator pump though oh i heard it by goodness there it goes come on they're going stay one day she's camped up you know we must go out of vacuum late somewhere still leaking back from over there that's just a lot of that apf and brake clean burning off it's gonna be awfully smoky fuel pump tends to be bump laden this one's almost empty but seems like there's a vacuum leak down here yeah see so it shows that there's a vacuum leak on the base of the carburetor so we got to fix that that's why it idles funky all that and the screen door spring that's supposed to be the return we'll fix that quick and that chocolate milk right there looks like a head gasket so we'll pull the dipstick here in a second and see what that looks like but i've seen that before and it's not good [Music] we're trying to let it purge air out of the system fuel gauge shows half which is great that means we got a chance ascending unit works we just filled it with rust gas again well then the air come out there's quite a bit of pressure in there there's a really oil-ish foam milkshake which is usually head gasket but remember none of the sparklators showed that we had a bad head gasket so we're just hoping that it's a very very very dirty system we're gonna let it sit here and run for a minute we got headlights one and two oh hey there it's actually the next day before we departed last night we took the tires and wheels with us stopped in town this morning and had those white walls put on that i sent way way ahead of me if it's here galaxy i think they're french or something i don't know i've been using them a while they seem pretty good we're gonna get these bolted on quick and now we can move on to brakes yeah that looks way better once we can get the car down because we had to set the jack between the lift here to get the rear end up overnight then we can get under and i think we're going to go ahead and try to bleed the brakes just to make sure that's a thing and then if we need to order parts we'll try but i'm already telling you these calipers and all the stuff up here in the gigamagoos are dang near impossible to find a lot of the sites say they have them but when you actually go to purchase it they don't rock auto napa car quest pep boys ebay the jungle website you name it also i think this has a pontiac wheel but that's okay i have a feeling the original one's probably in the trunk we can't get into but these white walls you know put a little lipstick on the pig why not i don't know what they are 225 80 15 or something like that i think but we'll try to do the brakes and then eventually we're going to take the fronts off probably again to get in there and look at the wheel bearings also learn the hard way there get scooting down the highway them heat up fellers night kid yeah might hand pack those again we'll see i don't know well we decided to take a peek at these now and just get it over with and it looks pretty good actually i don't even think i'm gonna repack these they're nice and tight there's no play in this whatsoever can't move the nut back and forth i think they're set up pretty good i'm just gonna squish some grease in here and then just tickle the dust cap on and call it good well we've got more of if not the exact same over here i don't know it's good enough checked yep whoop there we go so we're just going to jam some more grease in here call it good enough for now hey now we just got to slip the jack under here get these jack stands out and then we're back on all four paws you know main thing is see if this master cylinder works or not i think i found one but i'd have to overnight it for 842 million dollars we got to figure that out and then i might have to shoot down and get some bleeders for this a lot of times they just strip you know they don't work and we'll put in those uh check valve bleeders any hoos we'll see what happens so these were actually empty and this is brake cleaner juice fluid because it looked like the bottom of a tarp oh there you go like some sort of tar pit or something the good news is this one is not coming off that one is moving you have to be really really careful your fillers when you move these nuts like this it'll take the line with it and then you're going to snap this off great you'll snap this off and then you're going to spend 14 months replacing this line so my idea is i'll probably crack the front bleeders clean out as much of this gunk as possible send some clean brake fluid through the master up here and then we can actually pump this stuff just out right here we'll bleed the rear here on the master cylinder and you know we just hope at this point that it's going to work but i'm already breaking a lot of this stuff up so hopefully we can get that out with some rags also you find cuts really easily with the sauce well filler change tactics mid tactic i forgot i brought my 17 uncles brake juice circulator 2000 which is already broke and it doesn't work but anyway she runs wide open so what a guy's been doing is i fill this up with you know the brake rejuvenation spray let it soak for a little bit and if you stick the straw in here you don't even need to worry about chemical coming out because it's contents under pressure you know getting here like this and just clean on it keep going around do this a couple times and then i'll use this 23 ankle circulator he'll hook this up for me real quick [Music] throw that in there that just sucks that dry [Music] looks a lot better maybe one more time and that'll be nice and clean anyway supposed to rain a little bit later i think but it has been a good deal [Music] so that mud looking stuff is what we got out of here and it's brand new down there so now we're good to go we'll top her off with some break stop layer juice and get her up in our teeth and start bleeding on this i got updates stripped no juice juice spray so we've got one break and according to chris we've got two macaroni noodles petal so that's about like that i'm gonna take this wheel off and finish rounding that bleeder off and then we'll torch it out probably use the easy out re-thread it and then put in a nude bleeder and then maybe by then we'll get some juice out oh yeah i just rained for quite a while and it's coming in again great okay again well we kind of got the front to pump up and then i heard the familiar pop i'm patching this brake line up here and crang is pulling this down we just got to get the fuel level sender upper and the wire unhooked here and then she should hopefully just you know come down we're making a mess we're cleaning up some sharp rocks here what we're going to do with those is we're going to take them and throw them in the fuel tank i don't have any marbles or nuts and bolts rocks will work throw it in here with a couple gallons of fuel shake it around nice and good or you can tie it to a tractor tire or put it on the back of a four liter strap it to the hood of your lawnmower take it for a ride you know whatever shake it up is what i'm saying and then we'll dump that out and rinse it a couple times oops and then we'll throw her back up i guess the trunk floor really isn't that bad now i'm sitting here looking at it still can't get in the thing but it's there rear body mounts are gone that's been all my cadillacs they do that this bolt twisted off unfortunately this one didn't though that might just hang it in there almost done with the brake line here got a union there which i don't like doing but it is what it is followed the original path come down through here where it's supposed to be i just got to put a fitting on there don't really like how close that exhaust is to that brake line might have to take a second and maybe third look at that nope pretend i didn't see it okay recycling this it was pretty varnished but not as bad as one would expect actually now 37 hours getting rocks out sean swung over to help we got a storm moving in we're trying to do what we can here this side here this piece this nut wasn't moving and busted the tab off here so we're going to take some wire and just wire this side up for now and that should get me home anyway this side held up okay i got to put a fitting on this this is the ground for the sending unit and i've got the lines plugged in up here i ran a new line here of course and just reused the return so this should i don't know it's gonna do something started raining so we switched gears had little dude climb the ladder pump the brakes blew a hole here and then we went ahead and blew another one here so i'm going to do the right thing and just scab in another stick up to about here and this piece should just barely make it and then we just pray that this whoopee with the swoop that goes up the thing that plugs into the stuff isn't also bad and then this is like 13 new so that's good all right break repair number 97 completed and i should really reiterate you want to avoid doing this fellas well unless it's your ex-wife's car you could probably fit a couple more in they're a little bit unreliable and known to fail i got updates got juice in the front seems to be fine system pressurizes no juice in the rear about a 99.721 repeating percent chance that it's the soft rubber line here or the distribution block because remember that little piece we took off is plugged solid and that probably continues right here can't find that soft rubber line pretty much any store has a distribution block but we'd have to build these lines out here too chances are these wheel cylinders are also shot so i'm going to do the right thing and just pretend i've got brakes in the rear fronts good enough right yep [Music] [Applause] unfortunately i wasn't there when they balance these tires they put the weights on the outside so those hub caps can't go on but cleaned them up anyway and threw them in the back seat so we got them we're gonna move on and get the fuel system back together so basically i'm just gonna connect this like this but i'm going to put a serviceable filter in here and that way we can keep an eye on that it should be really clean over i don't know 87 90 90 clean and then it looks like the lasabinator we got out of here i'll probably stop every three exits and i think i got what was it 17 filters per 50 miles something like that so we'll kind of keep that up there we go you fellers and fellats we've seen this quite a few times nice big service loop guy could get the tire up on a curb you know scooch in here on his back and just replace that we'll pour some gas in the tank now see if we can get it up here and see what it looks like hopefully we'll be able to use the tank because it'd be really nice to have this capacity back here than running a boat tank the whole way we got like six and a half six and three sixteenths gallons of gas in there still a little bit here put just a smidge down the bowl hoping this will fire off and then we'll see if it pulls from the tank okay bring the thunder there we go looks pretty clean it actually looks really clean oh feet dipped we might not have to change filters all the way home fellas oh hang in there fix this add a little anti-theft just make everything black that way if it gets stolen they'll guess and just burn the rake down before they get away with it i think we're going to fire back up and move on to flushing this out and i think all i'm going to do is just back her up on the rocks back here we'll crack her loose jam the old g hose down there flush on it and then i got some blue devil rust remover flusher and we'll give that a whirl because this looked really rotten and remember when we saw under there it didn't look good at all i suppose this can go away because that's more likely to wear a hole and hose than anything hats well i guess this is brakes and transmission test take one see what happens oddly enough no tilt in this one there's definitely some pedal that's good that key doesn't work fine i got more that one didn't work either keep going i got i got no cage well help me understand this well i guess that's it i don't know t number 27 is a little tilt i guess according to sean cool pretty much no break that's fine basically just some mud rust coming out right now so we'll just jam the hose in over there let it run for a while with the engine off and then we'll crank it up and let it circulate a little bit eventually we might even take the rod hoses off but we're just going to kind of you know do the minimum is the plan i think we'll just let this run until that starts coming out a little more clear so here in a minute what we'll do is stick the hose back in the rad fire it up and we'll let it circulate out the top this way just trying to go both directions real quick and then i've got this stuff back here blue devils well i don't see any devils but we're going to try it i don't know it says degreaser rust number one in the country so sure i got another one so i think we're gonna do it twice might take a while yep [Music] you know i suppose clr would work just as well but they didn't have it at the hardware store so we'll try this out this is after the treatment here we also fixed the vacuum leak i got to get a different throttle bring it back or spraying for that that's nice and easy she's really starting to smooth out this is looking pretty clean now she's running crystal clear down there top her off and hopefully we won't have any heating issues and it's time to just jam this out here and i don't know take it for a cruise i guess little man wanted to vacuum it up a little bit so he's in here trying to get some of this taken care of i'm still amazed that this interior's sitting all those years thankfully the dash was covered up that might come back around yet seats are beautiful i wonder if that armrest is stuck [Music] yeah i think she's stuck oh it's to check the wipers work off oh yeah no wipers no wipage so i'll have to remember to put that whatever juice is on the that was a weird weird noise oh yeah i wonder if they have power steering down there yeah let's see if we can find that first time on the road in 32 years it's got some break it's pretty decent as long as the pressure doesn't go away on a there guy go speedometer doesn't work yes clock doesn't work radio doesn't work dome light works gold might does work only with the back doors open i'm so used to the 70 caddy having the wheel a little more doesn't it feel like we're jacked up that absolutely does all the wasps seem to be gone for the most part i mean it rides really nice though it does float oh it has those big coilovers in the back oh that's right it does yeah well we're going to fill up quick we're going to park it for tonight because it's late you know and we're going to take off first thing in the morning just filled up topped off the power steering that did nothing so that's good we're going to jump on the interstate for one exit here and just see if we've got all the gears and how bad the shakes gonna be first lots of stutter and bogging still first boy she's their second maybe third i don't even know it is like who you smell that smells real hot oh it's just burning stuff up to 55 it says the digital pocket computer in the window it does not like going speed at all like it's almost to the floor right now i think i just gotta blow the cobwebs out of it a little bit that's important well it's gonna be a long long 600 miles but it seems nice it is it's like a lazy boy well we're going to be pulling in here in just a minute we'll see you guys bright and late but we got a long drive to make tomorrow hopefully make tomorrow something is burning the smell is a power steering hose shooting oil right onto the exhaust manifold there so i'm going to do the right thing and just keep letting that pump leak there and we also smell gas really bad but i don't know i'll just deal with that in the morning i guess 7 million early niner o'clock finished packing up some generator light came on threw the old digital meter on it sure enough she's not charging the lightnings so i'm gonna have to get down to a parts store a couple miles down the road here get a charging whirler throw that on and then maybe for the 19th time we're ready to go again this morning also first day of sturgis rally motorcycles traffic that's fine i also got to replace this tail light before i get on the highway easy way to get pulled over a little bit of tape that's fixed this has been monkeyed with before and i just jinxed on myself when i said it was a reman they also didn't drive that bolt all the way back in so you know that's good should have grabbed a new belt as well and i'm going to replace the charger latent wire where the lightning shoots into the cube box over here once i get this out as well and when i ripped that clamp off yesterday that you know basically wore a hole through this so i'm gonna do the right thing and just zip tie this up here and hope it doesn't pop good enough repaired this that'll work added the body ground with the right color wire and that's in and i guess you know check the other stuff yep yep yep yep yep all right one last thing for good luck before we leave you don't gotta do this true north flavor but i gotta go east maybe if i jam it in like that it'll help me out does smell no that's really obnoxious here we go fired right up well we're leaving a little bit later than i wanted to getting that charger weather replaced and buttoning up a few other things i don't know how far we're going to make it today i'm hoping all the way but we might have to shutter down a little bit closer to home but we'll see what happens jumping on the interstate here [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so [Music] this is kind of hard to believe but i guess i got to um looking right at it reached over here and tapped the cruise button and i'll be dipped she took off like a second step then [Music] [Applause] [Music] been cruising for about 15 miles i just been running at about 60. been there a time or 198 where you'd run these a little bit the engines start coming around the rings start coming back this thing was just so gutless initially and it's starting to get a little bit more peppy so pretty soon i'm going to bring her up to 64 maybe 67 run it there for a while i also want to make sure it doesn't get hot i've only got a dummy light but guys got the sniffers so we'll keep an eye on that also i don't have a fuel gauge so i think i'll try to go 100 miles 10 miles to the gallon probably less i'm not sure we could just run out i do have a 5 gallon jug in here so we'll just run around the edge a little bit figure out the mpghs then we can do math or whatever also the rear end bushings are absolutely shot so this is like that 64 massabre can't remember the year anyway the rear just does this while you're going straight so makes for a really fun drive feels like you're on snow the whole time been cruising for a while just wanted to pop the hood look things over everything you know seems to be okay got a valve cover leak on the other side but looking pretty good so far i guess we'll just keep on going it doesn't seem to be heating up [Music] [Music] well we made it to wall shopped over here to the dq grabbed a flame thrower of course extra sauce fellers and then snakes and fuel back here at the fuel station but there's so many bikes i just got out six point nine two six eight seven gallons and sixty some miles so we're getting about nine and a half ten miles per gallon which is about what a guy figured so now we can divide that by the tank to pass the tie and whatnot and i don't know what that means we can go 190 miles or something not sure try to map that out on the google machine and see what happens i'm gonna grab a couple drinks stick her on the road [Music] made it to another small town called vivian i think that's just the lines here waiting to get fuel everything's going fine gets a little bit hairy without the power steering when you get into some of those grooves and stuff or if you dip off and get into the ramp strips that's okay makes it exciting but everything's going great i don't think it's getting hot none of the dummy lights are coming on the dash apparently the charging wheeler is charging so i'm just gonna not even look under the hood which is the right thing to do just keep going [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] not quite sure what town this is but they got a sinclair with highway lemonade so that's good she's getting hot also i can feel it stuttering and spitting i take this fuel filter yeah i think so kind of hard to see but if i shake it it's just getting really plugged with some stuff so i guess 65 to 68 is too much so i'm going to bring her back down again i'm going to pop this filter in fast go up get some fuel wet the back neck and keep on heading kind of hard to see for you fillers probably but there's also some kind of slime-ish buck in there that's going to be water and the chemicals i use to flush the tank and there's also some sediment stuff in here so i'm going to keep an eye on this i'll probably do i don't know another 37 of these on the way home you can also put two in line and then when one gets plugged the lead on that one run this one for a while it's a little bit faster to change them out but that's why i do those big service loops down here find a piece of concrete you know just sneak up get it done and then on the way you go a little bit for me rest for the radiator get this cool enough pop the cap off check on it just a little bit well the good news is now smells like band-aids dipped in gasoline but just a tackle of anti-freeze in other words i like it additional good news this just in i have 352 miles ago but i did find some dill pickle chips in here so all is right [Music] kind of have an issue with this fuel tank here but the gas keeps spilling out because the vet tube is broke off but anyway i think i'm getting about 10 miles of the gallon still somewhere around there so that's pretty good news i think i'm going to try to put down a longer stretch this time i'm getting just a little bit more confident in the old gal and i'm figuring out the mpgrs or whatever they be so let's try to go i don't know 160 miles do we dare sure let's do that here we go [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] if you don't have a wing window just cut the bottom of a bottle off here and jam it in oh yeah you can even steer it around a little bit works good [Music] um [Music] [Applause] [Music] i'm gonna shoot you straighter than alanis morissette's teeth a panicked i thought the sign said tacos but actually just says to go i'm going to swing in here get some more refreshments for the back neck fill the car up once more plus the windshield i can't see out of it the inside of it is all smeared up and i realized i never even washed it after i got it down from the hill there so i'm gonna take some towels dip it in the bug delete juice clean that up a little bit i thought i'd chuck on the filter before i left and yep it needs changed again so i'm gonna find a curb i'm thinking well them just got sprinkled on dang it maybe i'll shoot it up over there in the grass get the front up you know change on that fast got the windshield oh that's actually really smeared now that's fine got my supper and we put in another 13 gallons making headway [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] uh [Music] i'm in the home stretch i've got about 15 miles left let's see if this old girl can hold together [Music] [Music] just pulled in the driveway hard to see but right next to the 1970 cadillac sedanville known as betty white over 600 miles car set for 32 years off the road and literally had no issues other than some fuel-filled trays and the basic stuff pretty awesome obviously at this point it deserves a name so go ahead and bleep bloop that down there in the comments there's going to be a lot more coming on this car so let me know what you want to see and we'll see if we can get it done thanks guys for watching appreciate it very much i don't ask often but maybe go ahead and subscribe that would be neat see you next time [Music] you
