Farmer For A Day! I Drove the TRACTOR! AD | This Esme

oh you guys are so cute but i'm getting covered in it okay okay i'm going now what i've got to go up there no that is not the line i want to go okay we're going to reverse [Music] [Music] hello everybody this is me and today i have a very exciting video because i'm going to be seeing how all the horses and donkeys hailage is made so i'm here at silvermoor farm which is about 800 acres and i'm gonna become a farmer for the day so i think today's gonna be rather busy i'm gonna have a little look around later but first things first i think i need to get changed into a little bit more of an appropriate outfit let's go all right guys how do i look got a boiler suit on a cap i'm really getting into the farmer roll today so um here at silvermore farm we're actually in northumberland which is very far north in england pretty much if you carry on going you're almost at scotland so a great area for growing the grass so with my challenge esme's um i'm usually doing something a little bit new i have driven a tractor quite a few times but not quite as big as some of the ones i can see and my challenges means never quite go perfectly so i really hope i don't mess anything up especially making haylage that my horses might actually one day eat so here are some more they actually have a special brand new product that i'm going to be looking at a little bit later but first things first let's go meet the team [Music] oh my goodness it's massive it's way bigger than the david brown we have at home what i've got to go up there my head's going to be like up in the clouds the tire is taller than me now i'm not even that sure i'm like middle height for a woman i am five foot six so it is a big tractor guys okay i'm glad that i'm moving this around in the fields because if i have to do any reversing today it's not going to be good it's not going to be good oh my goodness these steps are so steep it's like climbing a mountain to get up here oh my goodness okay hello all the way down there um welcome to my tractor tour i don't know what any of these buttons do well i probably accidentally press a button that i don't know what it does probably i i'm feeling a little bit nervous now guys because this is massive and i have no clue what i'm doing alright so i have come to the conclusion that i might need just just a little bit of help today so let's go and find someone who can alright guys i'm now here with the boss rafe so um i was just wondering my outfit is a little bit different to yours yours looks a little bit normal you're probably not going to make me look ridiculous today you look like you're going to do the work true true so um this tractor here is rather big is this the biggest one you have here this is this is the biggest track there okay also my favorite track there okay so i'd be a little bit upset if you break it okay i'll try my best not to crash no problem no problem yeah so we're going to go and do some mowing we've got the mowers on we've got one on the front and two on the back wow we're gonna head off to the 40 acre field and we've got some other challenges for you today as well okay uh and i actually have a bigger machine for you to drive but that's a little bit later bigger okay let's head off there okay for some reason rafe decided that it probably wasn't the best idea for me to drive the tractor on the public roads so he went and drove it to 40 acres once we were in the field rafe got the tractor ready he gave me a few instructions a bit of a demo of what i needed to do and then i was left on my own on the job all right guys i'm in the tractor on my own i've been given the responsibility to have a go so rafe has given me a bit of a tutorial track tutorial on what to do so i'm going to try and remember what i need to do now so i'm going to go very okay i'm going to put max on so i think everything is started it's got a little bit noisier now guys okay so we'll slowly go forward put it so we're lining it all up okay tractor looks like it is nice and lined i'll go a little bit faster there we go we are off and then it won't be long until i need to get everything ready so down down there we go this down did that a little bit late just just a little bit behind there might miss just a few little patches [Music] cool and now we wait [Music] all right so we're getting near to the end of the line so i'm just going to slow the tractor down a little bit so i can do everything at the right time so that side needs to go up that needs to go up and then the right side needs to go up about now there we go time to turn around we'll go all the way along here now i thought everything was going swimmingly until me and the tractor had a little bit of a miscommunication about which line i wanted to go down let's go slower let's go slower okay a can the tractor no that is not the line i want to go okay we're going to reverse reverse reverse reverse reverse nobody needs to know that we're reversing okay will okay tractor no more reversing please let's line this up a little bit better nice and slow can it tell what lane i want to go in no not that way come on tractor okay i'm gonna let it do its thing we're gonna let it do its thing hey oh i think we've got it guys we've got it let's speed it up and get to the other side of the field try to catch me howling at the moon [Music] all right so again we're coming to the end of the line so my time to shine it's actually quite nice it's very relaxed when you're back there not doing much but um okay let's slow you down this one needs to go up first so about now this one needs to go up there's just lots of buttons to press we have to press them at the right time oh no i lifted that one up a little early but that's that's okay it's just a small hatch i missed yeah you are okay let's go slower please have you okay find the route find the route tractor has got the route okay now i just need to get everything down again you can go down you can go down and then wait a little bit and then the left one can go down oh nice good go on the grass onwards faster look at it go getting the hang of it guys oh my goodness that was so much fun i'm actually so proud of myself that i actually managed to drive it i haven't crashed it but how do you think i did great job uh colin who normally does our mowing in this tractor i think he's going to be nervous he could be out of a job tomorrow not quite i think i did miss like a few little patches yeah but they'll be good for the birds and the bees yep good for the wildlife but oh look at all the grass that we've known yeah so next job we need to do we need to go and get the merger ready for harvest but uh yeah so this is this is the grass that we've cut here so this is a festivolium um in it's a mixture it's actually a cross between a fescue and a rye grass okay so we grow this to to create our dried products which i think we're going to have a look at later yeah so yeah this has grown so especially for grass drying and for our equestrian products so what's the difference between the grass that you would use for example for horses compared to cattle it's mostly down to the nutritional content of the grass so feeding cattle or sheep or any type of livestock you're wanting them to to grow and produce milk or whatever it is they're doing but with horses as we know they're quite a few overweight horses we don't want there to be too much protein or too much sugar so we have to grow a grass to suit the the horse's diet and its needs that's really important especially my pony mickey he's quite prone to laminitis so that's really good that you think about those things as well so what's next after this so next thing we'll go and get the merger we'll merge the grass into a row ready for forage harvesting so the forage harvest is even bigger than the tractor whoa okay so yeah that'll be fun even more big machines there even more big machines tractor number two let's try and not crash this one oh it's not as high up this one still got to try and remember all of the complicated buttons because this one is different so i've got to learn all over again guys what i did with the merger was i drove over the already cut grass collecting it into a nice line which i'm not gonna lie was so satisfying to watch out the back and then it was ready for the huge the gigantic the forage harvester oh my goodness i thought i thought the other ones were high up this one has like a full-on ladder and platform oh my goodness look at your balcony hi down there wow all right so i'm now in the cab ready to go all we need to do is just wait for the tractor and trailer to arrive then it's time to get harvesting today driving the tractor and trailer we have the lovely rachel so my job wasn't actually too difficult i just had to make sure i stayed in a straight line in the forage harvester that was pretty much like a big vacuum it would suck up all the grass and then that would come out and rachel had to collect it so her job was a bit more difficult because she had to be in the exact correct place to collect all of that chopped grass and she also had to move the trailer in different places because sometimes you had to make sure it was collecting near at the front near the back um but in the end i think we did not too bad of a job all right so now the trailer is full of the back it's time to empty it so all i have to do is flick a few switches here and then i'll be going [Music] job done let's go and look at it oh my goodness guys look how much grass is here it actually smells so good so for the hailage that you see my horses and donkeys eat that would actually be bailed out in the field so this is for something a little bit different that i'm going to show you in a second behind me we have colin driving the tele handler which unfortunately i am not able to drive because you have to have a special license for it so he keeps moving all the grass up into the dryer so it can be dried as i said previously the grass has to be dried and to do this they sort of use this contraption that looks like the world's largest tumble dryer now to power this instead of using fossil fuels they actually use something very cool which is over here here we have the husks from oats so bit like porridge oats this is the by-product that they wouldn't use um so this is used and it's heated up in the furnace and then that heat is then used for the world's largest tumble dryer that then heats and dries the grass okay so i was going to climb this but it's quite sinky it's been like sinking sound i feel like i'm just going to go straight through it rather than up it like look it's going to go over my wellies ah okay okay let's get away from from the otasks this is gonna go everywhere now okay that was not a good idea behind me here we have the furnace that is currently burning at 700 degrees c so it is unbelievably hot as i said before this is all fueled by the oat husks we saw previously and this generates hot air that's then used in the giant tumble dryer that i'm about to show you guys now so this absolutely massive rotating drum is full of grass i cut this morning and drying it out at around 200 degrees centigrade the dried grass is then piped over to the building next door where it's collected and oh my goodness guys how satisfying is this pile that's in the time lapse of it being collected it's like a little grass mountain [Music] the dry grass is then fed into this huge machine that makes a very special product that you may have already seen on my channel can you guess what they are so here we have it the swingers as you guys would have just seen the grass is then compressed and made into these and they were an absolute lifesaver for me back in the winter when it snowed and the horses had to be in their stables a little bit more these are the best boredom breakers and they're also very good for food battles as well there might be a food battle coming at some point this year very exciting but they silvermoor do have a brand new product which i'm about to go and show you now so this is silvermoor's brand new product this is the grasa bix and oh my goodness this is the unicorn one which is the magical minty and it smells so good it smells really minty so i am now going to be packaging them into these beautiful boxes look how cute the unicorn one is it's pink and it has rainbows on it's like it's almost gift wrapped for you so that is the plan i'm gonna have a go in the factory right now putting them in the box [Applause] [Music] all right so i am now packaging some hailing there's a little weight display over here that i'm looking at every time it does it it makes me jump because it's quite a loud noise and then suddenly you can like feel the weight of it be pushed into the bag so prepare to watch me jump here comes it's coming it's coming it's coming okay that's going to slide up and then you have to try and get as much air out as possible lift it up push it out and then put it in this machine lift it up and then this seals the bag so once that's all in place and looking good then i press down on this button and that seals it and then on to the conveyor belt bye bye haylage okay so once the hailage is on the conveyor this epic robot then picks up the hailage and stacks it on the pallet ready to go to its new home and feed some horses this might seem like a very familiar scene so this as you can tell it's the hailage that we have at home um i feel like i spent half my time in videos sitting on halidge but here we are um so some of this hailage will be going off to people's homes i think there's a little package somewhere here that's going to be going off to my home for my horses and donkeys to eat and now i'm sitting on a baylor palace back at home so now i'm here and i have the new grassroots too i thought i'd get the horses in i thought we'd do a little bit of a taste test and see what they think to them all right so the horses are now in they are all very dirty so apologies about that they've decided to go and roll in the mud while i've been away um but here we have the tomb raider one casper you're looking so excited for this okay so i'm gonna gently pop the box away so i thought i'd try this first do a little taste test casper are you ready what do you think what do you think can we give it a little bite um casper you can't eat the whole brick you've got to bite you've got to be gentle just a small bite okay there's actually still loads left they go for a big bite but they can only get a little bit off that's quite good okay while you've got your mouth full you enjoy that i'll come back for the schools later mickey are you ready what would you would you like to have a little try a little try of the oh he's going for it oh okay you've got a good mouthful there mate what do you think what do you think i'll let you think about that for a sec because i'm gonna gotta let joey have a try joey you can't fit it all in your mouth i'm sorry me there we go oh he's eating a good amount good amount okay i think i think they like the turmeric one very nice okay should we go on to the magical minty next okay you can share one if you like it's like it's like um they're sharing a bit of spaghetti they're sharing it oh mickey can't quite reach you guys are so cute but i'm getting covered in it okay okay i'm going now so this one guys it's for unicorns only so all of my boys can definitely have this casper that's the box that is the box don't even box don't worry he didn't eat it it's all good you don't have to worry it's just a little ripped hmm that doesn't seem like a unicorn attitude there casper no all right so now it's time for casper to try the magical minty and it just smells so okay okay he's very excited but it does smell very good oh he's he's going he's going for the big big bite casper you can't bite that much of it off you're gonna have to do a small one it's like a whole brick yeah there we go he's got a bite i'll come back to him because his mouth is very full well done okay mickey if it's your turn your time to shine what do you think to it okay didn't go that way oh gosh i'm getting covered joey it's coming okay you want some okay you don't have to make such a big fuss about it okay here we go joey just get one mouthful first and finish that before you go for your next there you go vicky you can have some more let mickey okay they are getting very excited so i think it is definitely 10 out of 10 from all horses for this i should probably give them their own so you guys aren't fighting come on i'll get the other one don't worry i'll make sure casper
