F-150 Test Drive Didn't Go So Well

awesome so we got a call for a ford ranger that's up on the tokenville falls road as a busted ball joint driver's front so we are taking a gigantic risk taking the hook truck up there see if we can get it because my trailer that i would typically use is on a run to vegas so i'm a little nervous about this one my whole crew's out of town it's the hunt so everybody kind of left us here alone we got randy how you doing i think we'll get it though i'm just here working on it right now 10 years ago i wouldn't have thought twice about driving this truck up the toperville falls road back then it would get about maybe 10 vehicles a month on it and now it's getting well over a hundred a day at least on weekends and uh the road is just tore up there's no maintenance the county doesn't maintain it one bit it's just tore up so i need you guys to be critical of my shifting on this truck i've had a couple people tell me i don't know how to shift this truck so i don't know what else to do besides this so tell me what i'm doing wrong what do you think randy what am i doing wrong well you're not supposed to use the clutch but yeah somebody's like shout out he said teach you how to drive all right teach me i'll take i'll take good advice from anyone i may not do anything but at least i'll be like well thank you for that he's not very good at taking advice just everybody has an idea and if you if you adopt every idea from every person you'll end up just a mess you can't do that you got to live your life don't take any life advice from me we're here to entertain you that's it so i'm counting on a couple things going good right now i'm counting on this truck physically being able to get up there and then i'm counting on that truck physically staying connected to this truck as we come off we've got about a 70 chance of each which puts us at about 40 overall i like those odds this is about to get miserable this is about top speed and we've got three miles according to this we're going five miles an hour if you remember from the big bus stuck at lake powell this truck is one smooth ride man look at people driving these cars on this road the only thing dumber than driving a car like that on this road is driving a tow truck like this on this road had a call a couple months back the lady asked not to be filmed so we weren't able to post it but we might have a little clip we can put on here oh i've got the wheel i'm going to put that on right here [Music] so yeah so you've hit you hit something bad i mean they shattered this wheel she shattered the wheel so i decided it was easier to get out and walk than it is to ride in that miserable thing really good sights our truck is right there it's an f-150 not a ranger and it's black not blue hola how you doing looks like you just lost the nut on the ball joint uh he said that uh he had some work done on the truck uh on the uh on the drivetrain and uh he thought he'd come test it out because he hadn't tested out and they didn't do a good job obviously crazy yeah that just that wheel just came off they didn't do a good job oh oh yeah fixing this in place i think backing up's the best route all right all clear but at the bottom there there's a place i can back in and turn around just 50 60 yards down there that's not too bad good job man that can drive i thought about that [Applause] follow it you gotta watch your front wheel you're okay to keep coming hold it hold it hold it hold it let me check there's a huge rock right here how far about six feet oh beautiful is there anything you want this set on or just set it on the ground have a good one well that was a little bit of a fiasco but we got it done i don't know what to say about that i'm glad we took the hook truck though and i'm also glad we didn't have to climb the the bad hills so even without adding our 46 percent chance of success we made it happen we got a call but all of us were busy except me just kidding i was busy too i was at the movies with my parents the john wayne movie but matt somewhere i'm not sure is it hard to breathe carter i don't even know where kim is or rudy or lizzy or anybody but we got some people stranded out at the dunes the one razor got stuck the rescue razor broke a belt so they have a broken rig and a stuck rig i'm gonna go see if i can get them out it's cooled off a little bit because it's not uh the sun's gone down so it's not quite so bad and the ac in the banana is working pretty good for just me it's gonna be a good day [Music] [Music] i'm i'm randy hi randy peter joe bob we're the renters all right anyway we you can see where we went over that sort of got stuck down a little firm i would recommend either going up that way or maybe all the way around you can come take a look just for so you know what you're dealing with i'm sure you [Music] have you seen this on youtube well i've seen a couple of them but i didn't know you guys were like 200 so you just do this and oh yeah keep going with that let's go ahead and we'll move that one down there and then we'll come up and that way it won't be in our way we'll pull this one right out all right somebody want to film i'm the camera guy so where's matt then i have no idea [Music] smile you're on camera oh she's free hey you're on the road [Music] let me just pull you ya just let him pull you it should be good [Music] so okay so we got to get this one out without getting me stuck and then i'll turn around and hook onto it and we'll follow that okay so now what do you want me to do you want me to go yeah hop in it turn the wheels as sharp as you can and get pointed downhill [Music] go ahead go turn this way [Music] [Applause] okay thank you so much for coming out and helping you're welcome all right i don't know how good that footage was with the camera woman hopefully it's good she said it was good we got out there found them rather easily they were in a pretty uh pretty good sized hole there we were able to get up to them it's quite the angle but get up to them and get them pulled back and uh get the stuck one pulled out and then we got the broken one pulled out and it turned out it wasn't broken so i guess just an overheated belt he said and they were able to drive out under their own power which was good because he ran over my rope
