Hiking a hidden slot canyon in S. Utah!

so so we're coming out here to the barracks on the east fork of the virgin river it's gonna be spending a little time today running some trails and just kind of having some fun and relaxing i got jamie with me should be fun so the kids went ahead on their mountain bikes i wish they hadn't left so early i want to watch how they cross the river here they've had to cross it twice now i think we have a third time over here they rode their bikes this far through this much water oh ah the first thing that i did i dunked myself the first time we crossed i was like okay don't go where the ripples are at that's where it's bad that's where it's rocky and i went into a really nice mellow spot and it ended up being about a foot deep so like go over the rocks go over the rocks they went over the rocks and ever since then we just went over rocks how was it carter it was pretty fun not bad wow so we're headed down here to what they call the skinny caves there's that's what i'll call it yeah paul's calling the skinny cage i've never been there it's just down here just i don't know not even a mile i don't think we're gonna go check it out and bring you along with us [Music] oh i remember how far up here it is hey mom it's been a long time since i've been to this tell us something gracie drink a soda we're gonna hike to some slot canyons but it was in high school the last time i was here so so we're out here looking for the skinny caves and our leader's not sure where they are and we're not sure where our leader is yeah so that's the problem so that's what's going on right now so i'm starting to believe paul when he said he didn't know how far up here it was we did find him i mean we saw him he's a quarter mile ahead of us so i'm expecting him to find it first but we've been in a situation like this where he overshot before so maybe we'll find it first two or three miles is just in the creek bed and you had to carry me out like the last mile because we've been hiking for 21 miles that day one mile yes and by the time we hit the creek bed it was hot and i had blisters all over my feet that is so cool so the last mile or so matt packs me out huh so i'm the only one that can make this look good all right better hurry you got an audience [Music] oh can you do one of those jamie no that's essentially what i i couldn't even land the other one i barely landed that man you distill it down and it's the same hey buddha that goes how far up there are we a mile and a half yeah yeah so we were thinking it was like 300 yards or a thousand yards or something but he says he hasn't been here since high school so the kids and the dogs are ahead of us we think they're with the lead party and i think we're about to get overtaken by the very last we're pretty soon going to be the the tale of this expedition made us go off-road for a while and thought that it would take us less time it didn't work we're still getting arrows of direction i think that's our children doing that though the ones that are just barely ahead of us it's not the end it's narrowing up a little bit [Music] my [Music] this is [Music] so [Music] let's get that we come here come here um they climbed up this well i'm pretty sure the lead group went up here but i think we're gonna stay back with the rest of the group and just wait for them to come back i think that's about the thing to do about now what do you think max lady you ready for a rest i made it i didn't get very good views [Music] brutal huh just wait for the other ones they're slick fall down then now you're good for a little ways until it skinnies skinny oh yeah though [Music] he made it easy too old for this i hear you babe [Music] all right so we just put a bunch of effort into this right here and here we are i can't find it i can't even grab onto up there we're at the end we finally found the end so austin has found the end of the hike tyler second place jamie's in third place but we're all winners i think i'm the biggest winner we made it actually came up this far that's the hype what's the official name if you can okay so the locals call this the skinny cage hey we need a group like trying to get a group picture all right well you just ruined my thing good job guys i had a monologue so anyway i'm trying to get everybody together for a group photo ready in the group so what's happening is the adults are getting a position to throw the kids down i got you jamie i helped you the last time come on i got you oh i just need you in the back no you're good yep just like that now you can just slide right now they'll probably make it okay we did make it back and i'm tired you got lots of choices right you're gonna take the easy one usually moms say take the easy one so that's that we had a good hike and a good lunch and good trip so we're heading out of here everybody's pretty tired what do you guys have to say we got rep back there i don't have anything to say driving my bike through the river was terrible and now they're sanding the gears and stuff so we're gonna have to go home and clean them it was good i'm sunburned really really bad you can see it on my neck i'm gonna be filling it tomorrow yeah i'm gonna wake up tomorrow i'm gonna know exactly why i hurt thanks for watching [Music] you
