[Music] richard donner clearly used the leftover superman fonts for this opening credits sequence shane black's screenplay includes an extremely unnecessary shot of boobs cliche nail biting who are these people that are just casually walking past this dead body on top of a car this is los angeles not new york putting this santa up here is just lazy man if you want to put a santa on your roof at least make sure he's visible and on a stable surface plus you only have a couple of strands of lights up so i even go for the home run swing of a rooftop adornment you aren't winning any competitions out here surprising your dad in the bathtub the [ __ ] is up with his family man let's give daddy his cake when we can see his junk i think i can see his sugar tits from here also this is virtually the same opening to a mel gibson character as what women want and for making me think of that movie this one gets an extra sin cap into this cigarette from when he woke up to now it's growing a good inch and a half that is an ugly spot dude is wearing a sweater vest so why would he be concerned about what's on the top that will definitely be tucked in soon honey that's amazing murtaugh called his wife on his super old ass bag phone without dialing a single number ain't no syria on this [ __ ] also not that i'm gonna play the music but let me just take a minute to note that this is the sexiest soundtrack ever the soundtrack has so much sex that it could be the score for an early 90s skinimax softcore movie eating cocaine doing a massive drug deal this close to a busy thoroughfare i mean winchell's donut house is right there god damn it i hate to admit but mel gibson is really great in this movie i'm not giving the movie a sin off for it in fact i'm going to add five cents here for his great performance because i can't i like richard donner seriously the omen was the magic but there's so much shouting in his other films this movie will seriously test my eardrums for the next hour and a half and that gets us in carolers also god damn this thing wants to be a christmas movie so bad that he'll insert random like this to smack you in the face and yes i know shane black loves christmas but it doesn't matter to this movie are you telling me you think riggs is playing some kind of a game discussing a psychological case in the wide open of this office the guys in the 80s aren't tough the sensitive people show their emotions around women i guess there were people that had this thought process in the 80s but god damn pretty sure andrew dice clay the decline of western civilization 2 and brawny commercials would disagree with you random cop who leans against walls [Music] really too old to overreact to an obvious detective who was checking his gun in a police station what's the age limit for that there's no lighting like 80s movies lighting it's like someone wanted to catch cocaine haze in the form of a spotlight and then shine it through crumbled heroine and strawberry pop-tarts what you got in there boy and smith dick comparisons a lot of old-timers carry those this movie goes out of its way to note the difference in the ages of these partners but danny glover is only 10 years older than mel gibson and it's super obvious i suppose we have to register you as a lethal weapon roll credits for three additional sequels in a tv show god hates me that's what it is hate him back it works for me unless i unleash a crazy successful religious movie in about 17 years after that i may rethink my strategy if it matters you may call me mr joshua i rarely notice adr stuff but this is so bad that they could have substituted gary busey with a muppet and had a more convincing dialogue where the hell did you get him psychos or us i don't think you're funny the general would be registered as a lethal weapon at cinemasins i don't think this whole goddamn setup is funny i agree so can we go back to something that's actually funny in this movie like is joe pesci gonna show up and crack wise or something merry christmas i've been saying that for years and if you heard it it met your ass i never gave much thought to what it meant i just thought it was some cold blooded to say to a mother before i popped a cap in his ass it really seems like 85 of this first movie is footage of the lead characters staring at pictures and reminiscing about old times i don't give a you're a police officer roger i know you're a police officer kill them just kill them and now everyone else in the building knows roger is a police officer and he was asked to kill people i'm sure they'll be able to get away with it though it is los angeles the lost boys is this year's hit lost boys was 33rd in the box office in 1987 behind classics like platoon full metal jackets baseballs the running man and well beverly hills cop too but my point is 33rd you qualified to talk to jumpers i've done it before okay you're elected wait what murtaugh has been very open about how much of a mental case he thinks we exist but he's cool with riggs going up to try and talk to a potential jumper for such a beloved character murdog is kind of an [ __ ] and not very good at his job hey what the [ __ ] you just do i don't know but it definitely wasn't related to the case you guys were supposed to be working on together at all oh what do you want to hear man do you want to hear that sometimes i think about eating a bullet this movie has so many scenes like this that you never see in a buddy cop movie it's not afraid to tackle issues like suicide post-traumatic stress disorder and realizing one's own mortality this movie also has plenty of over-the-top silliness hell it created a lot of the over-the-top silliness that is still seen in action movies today but this movie has that little bit of extra that takes it miles ahead of most of its time there's something eating away at this guy i think he's on the edge god damn is this psychologist allowed to tell everyone in the lapd about riggs's issues that's right kids you think you're sick of this line now even in this movie it had already turned into a cliche he seriously stopped in the middle of the road off bridge to make a phone call i'm sure cell reception wasn't spectacular in 1987 but what the man hey are you gonna tell me where we're going we're together on this right i guess really seems like no one is concerned about the case that opened this movie you're not gonna smoke in the car he's already been smoking in the car damn it feel like this movie is forcing a chemistry that will unfortunately last a long time random shootout is random man sure the girls were slinging coke in the living room within view of the fuzz but does that justify immediately opening fire great so now he's been shot twice drowned and suffocated but he's still flailing is this [ __ ] rasputin [Music] sticking your bare hand into a piping hot oven to see what's for dinner the scene goes on for some time seriously is anyone interested in investigating this case all they did was show up to a house killed a [ __ ] then went right back home i don't make things complicated that's just the way things get all by himself i'm pretty sure this was the excuse putin gave for the 2016 election a sugar daddy's dealing drugs she says something or did something and saw something she wasn't supposed to he pitches off the balcony into the suite by and by except amanda was poisoned and jumped off the balcony all by herself once again murtaugh is supposed to be a good detective frank why can't i have a beer and i can't smoke a joint it's not coke you know we'll get there fast and then we'll take it slow you don't trust me at all do you be weird if he didn't since he just invited you to dinner at his home with his family for the last couple of hours but trying to understand character motivations in this movie is a losing proposition i do it real good you know do what when i was 19 i did a guy in laos from a thousand yards out riggs plays the pronoun game about murder but what really grinds my gears is that he's bragging that it can hit a human from a thousand yards which is some bull i don't care that he says very few people could make that shot no one could make that shot get out of here cats listen honey i was just watching the porn for the case that's why i put my glasses on no other reason who the mother takes their yearbook picture like this having an understandable discussion while walking down an active shooting range while wearing serious ear protection sure is impressive that riggs can shoot so accurately from this point it's even more impressive that he can do it when his eyes are closed apparently michael jordan derived some inspiration from this scene hey they exploded the entire house at the exact moment that these [ __ ] walked up what are the odds outside a script supervisor walking on set saying now i think we got something over here the detective wants to see you better come take a look at this cliche i bet you like goldbox gobots also between this and back to the future 80s movies we're really trying to make wearing 3d glasses a thing they weren't even making 3d movies anymore at this point the [ __ ] is that all about was he black was he white mertog just asked this kid to draw the guy he saw but now he's asking for a description what kind of detective sends mixed signals like this like that exactly like that this movie actually makes the detective work interesting and entertaining just not always easy to do and i also feel like riggs and murtaugh come to their conclusions naturally and realistically but it's hard to get past the fact that if riggs wasn't one of the cops assigned to this case it never would have been solved that's some convenience of the highest singing order also how could alfred have seen that small of a tattoo from across the street to those 3d glasses have telescopic lenses because they would have to for him to be able to see that i ended up working with a group called air america no way dude that movie won't come out for another three years and it stars the other guy in this partnership don't mind me in the midst of this intense discussion about heroin shipments and the death of my daughter i've got to take a swig of this delicious party dog assassination sweaters no not the nog also if the bad guys were intent on killing this [ __ ] why didn't they do it at any point before now you're telling me they rented a helicopter waited for this moment for michael to stand by the window and now they pounce hot sacker spoke to the police sir how the could he tell that from the goddamn helicopter it's not like murdog was in uniform or anything [ __ ] off it never rains in la i guess it's possible mr joshua would have a way to find out where riggs is currently investigating but the movie doesn't show us this and wouldn't it make more sense for them to stake out their homes also mr joshua picks the one time there would be no traffic to pull off this maneuver he's able to run into an intersection pull a wide u-turn and not get hit in [ __ ] los angeles also also this [ __ ] guy he doesn't even try to stop he's like this i've got to get to the theater to see lost boys before they pull it it's this year's hit also times three if they were going to assassinate these guys why wouldn't they go for murtaugh who was the one who was talking to michael but why the hell did he wear his vest rick doesn't strike me as a type of person who would often wear a vest and all they were doing was questioning hookers two inches higher they would have gotten you here yeah two inches lower i'd have been a false shadow for life being more concerned about your than your life the guy who shot me same albino jackrabbit son of a [ __ ] that did unsucker first off that's racist second how the [ __ ] would he have seen joshua clearly in either of these attacks third ocean about two blocks near your house uh yeah sure he's probably blonde with uh big dimples how did the dispatcher know that who would have brought up the dimples when describing someone that was it with la movies and wanted to show all the driving we get it you have to drive in la can we please settle on once upon a time in hollywood as the last dance what they walk into a house find a note then relax without clearing any of the rooms these [ __ ] have been shot twice in the last 15 minutes but they're not concerned about someone ambushing them here you have a very beautiful daughter why did they outright try to kill riggs but then pull this kidnapping [ __ ] on murtaugh and why did they kidnap her instead of like killing her i'm not saying i'd want that but doesn't that make more sense rick's out of the picture i wouldn't work talk taken alive because i want to tickle him until he feels real suffering you're gonna have to trust me oddly this is how he convinced jodie foster to cast him as the lead in the beaver bring his station wagon to a gunfight jesus christ this seems like massive overkill did they really need two cars and a helicopter to take care of murtaugh this is an iconic scene and one a lot of people probably associate with the franchise but did we really need to watch the bad guys entire drive up to murtoc couldn't they have just already been there that'll go now or we all done i mean just the ones that are in this concentric circle of about 15 feet or so you guys in the back you'll all be okay roger get out of the way move to your left you mean he got in position after all this way and he's in the one spot that roger is blocking don't try it son if mcallister was able to get the jump on rigs why didn't he just kill him they literally tried to do that a few hours ago yeah i ran into some of those shadow company [ __ ] in saigon in about 69. antagonizing the antagonist endo here has forgotten more about dispensing pain than you and i will ever know well that's just irresponsible torturing see martin we have a problem since we have merch off we don't really need i still don't understand why you need either one of them maybe they did tell someone on the force what they knew but then those people would have told others and so on and so on seems like changing your game plan would be a lot less time consuming and less dangerous than putting more spotlights on you by killing a bunch of police officers man the last few minutes of this movie has been full of torture i bet eli roth gets firmly erect every time this sequence comes on there's no more heroes left in the world the hell he's trying to find info on a heroin shipment he's organizing what the hell sense does this line make other than to prop rigs to run in and x-mocha the whole situation i get riggs is a badass and the movie has more than earned that fact but he just took several bolts of electricity and even if he survived that it would take him at least a little while to get back up to full strength he seems stronger here than he has the whole [ __ ] movie did the electricity turn him into frankenstein's monster i want to see that movie that's the one one jeffrey said to the other show what let's get the [ __ ] out of here puns i know there's loud music but someone had to hear that gunshot back at the bar these [ __ ] patrons just couldn't care less pew pew pew pew guns shooty shooty people yelling excitement i know this looks dangerous but it's actually how gary busey hails taxis in real life give me some backup and take care of the girl the girl you couldn't tell this dude that it's your daughter therefore ensuring an extra layer of protection for riggs is not hit by a single car in this scene even though he's firing at will and no one would know he's a police officer you would think at least one eager la citizen would clip him or something hey if your action boner was awakened by the indiscriminate shooting a few minutes ago you'll really bust your knot on all this driving no way you live no way murtagh has such a death wish for mcallister why didn't he shoot him instead of the driver they're going back to murtaugh's house but why the hell would joshua go there he doesn't know that mcallister is dead and if not the heroin deal would still be in play why wouldn't he go back to the evil headquarters to try and track down the general i think my favorite part of this movie is when the fire hydrant is turned over just so we can have a moist fight between riggs and mr joshua everyone wanted to see a wet gibson busy wrassle match in 1987 i guess fun moment but i don't believe for one second murtaugh would be talked into running a car through his living room when there were so many other options to get the drop on joshua what do you say jack would you like a shot at the title first off what [ __ ] title is riggs even talking about these two actually had run into each other during the war or something maybe this makes more sense but second and more importantly these sequences of having a guy in custody but deciding to do this mono a mono testosterone juice fight scene is ludicrous fun as hell to watch but still ludicrous sanji rigs the rest i'll take full responsibilities what let's take away the moral issues present here murtaugh has known riggs for what a few days and didn't like him for probably half of that time but murtagh is willing to risk his entire career so riggs can prove he's got a bigger than mr joshua oh man if this were david dunn he would totally be dead by now i'll tell you a little secret what i'm not crazy symbol mind if i bring a friend hey and i just happen to leave my passenger door cracked in case i randomly get invited to dinner and don't want to walk all the way back to the truck [Music] merry
