hello students how are you today today we are going to review introductions and making small talk beginning conversations we will also review present continuous verbs but first let's review introductions this is how we introduce two friends please follow along on the computer Jane this is John nice to meet you John nice to meet you Jean alright now let's practice introducing friends are you ready friends Sylvia I want you to introduce Anna to Alberto Anna this is Alberto nice to meet you Alberto yes you did too you know okay now Anna introduced Alberto to Sylvia Sylvia this is Alberto nice to meet you Alberto nice to meet you too Sylvia good now let's look at how we introduce people more formally remember for formal introductions we use people's titles here is a list of titles so we use mister for single and married men we use Ms for single or married women especially if we don't know whether the woman is married or single we use ms we also use mrs. and this is for married women and also miss for young unmarried women so let's review this list because they go together mister for single and married men Ms for single or married women missus for married women and miss 4 young unmarried women we also use the title of doctor for of course a doctor professor for a professor president king queen prince and princess so let's review the last part of our list we have the title doctor professor president king queen prince and princess now when there are two people of equal status we introduce the lady first okay please look at the computer and follow along for these examples professor Smith this is Professor Jones it's nice to meet you professor Jones it's nice to meet you too professor Smith when one person is higher in status we introduce that person first so again look at the computer professor Smith this is miss Jackson oh it's nice to meet you miss Jackson it's nice to meet you too professor Smith now here are two men again please look at the computer professor Jones this is Mr Bond it's nice to meet you Mr Bond it's nice to meet you too professor Jones now let's practice you are going to do a role play here are your roles you are going to introduce each other formally okay Anna your role is dr. Jenkins okay okay Anna is dr. Jenkins Alberto you get to be professor Einstein okay let's start with Sylvia dr. remember how to make introductions and you're beginning to understand how to do small talk to create conversations with someone you don't know so at this point let's review present continuous remember the present continuous is used in the present tense but it shows that the action is continuing present continuous is used for action that is being done now here is the formula you need the verb to be plus your simple verb and ing ok notice that there are two verbs in this tense only the first one changes the second one stays the same okay please look at your computer and follow the chart this is what the present continuous looks like I am doing this you are doing this he is doing this she is doing this we are doing this you are doing this they are doing this now here is what the present continuous tense looks like in the negative form I am NOT doing this you are not doing this he is not doing this she is not doing this we are not doing this you are not doing this they are not doing this and here is what the present continuous tense looks like in the question form and yes/no answers follow along am I doing this yes you are no you're not no you aren't are you doing this yes I am no I'm not is he doing this yes he is no he's not no he isn't is she doing this yes she is no she's not no she isn't are we doing this yes we are no we're not no we aren't are you doing this yes we are no we're not no we aren't are they doing this yes they are no they're not no they aren't so we can also ask information questions here are some examples what are you doing answer can be I am doing this so the question what are you doing answer I am doing this now let me ask you some questions Alberto are you standing no I am NOT I am Steen that's right okay Silvia where are you sitting I'm
