Easy Way To Catch Eating Sized Catfish From The Bank!

well good morning folks it's richard gene the fishing machine here today we're gonna be focusing on catfish from the bank it's gonna be a windy day the water is high muddy we had a big thunderstorm system come through the Tennessee Valley it was so bad that it left a few tornadoes and a lot of stuff damage and today I'm going to be using frozen gizzard shad okay I vacuum Sylvie's back about three months ago and hey they're fresh or vacuum sealed and I got me a co color okay I've done got two folks I've got two rods out right here and by the way the water is probably about two feet high we've had a lot of flooding across the Tennessee Valley it's two feet high you can see extremely muddy and there's they're pulling water out of here okay I mean the prediction is within about three days it should be back to normal as far as lake level I'm here on Lake Guntersville by the way now the surface temperature I'm going to guess I'm going to say it's probably about sixty degrees it was a lot warmer than that but what had happened this is actually what we call a dogwood winter will always experience this this this time of year that in black berry winter and then it's basically about over with normally the cold weather and I'll show you what I'm using right here these are both actually my shiner rods and what I did is I took the braids off because I don't like to fish with braided line around rocks and I've put 30 pound test trialing big game on both of these reels and they're identical reels their ambassador 5500 s with a 5-1 to 1 gear ratio they have a narrow spoon so 30 pound test is a little much as far as ambassador is concerned but as far as Richards concern it's perfect these reels have a clicker feature okay both of them and I've got them both on the in a clicker positions okay let's lay this and back down let's set a trap for this fish now I'm fishing right here on this little point the waters gonna be around 18 feet deep 18 19 feet deep over here it rises out of this creek channel into around 12 to 14 feet so I got my bait setting different depths this morning let's go look this other rod this rod is I have caught some big bass with it over the years it's a halo rod halo fishing it's seven feet long and this one is medium action medium action rod same reel and I'll show you my little setup right here I'm not fishing the weight not today I feel like I'll catch more fish without it today it's a patience game this line of thunderstorms went through two days ago and the barometric pressure is we up there so the bike is probably going to be slow usually is it takes probably about three days after a system like this goes through before I really start catching fish any kind of fish all right folks I'm faced with a situation right here I'm being real quiet of course I don't have to pay young by myself so I'm just out here enjoying everything mind my own business waiting for a cat to bite and over here that way I have a buddy let's turn slowly and look at me was getting real close to now he's a predator what he's doing he's actually like he's fishing right beside me being my buddy but what it is I'm gonna stand up real slowly the rest of that shade right there is in the Sun thawed and there he goes he's gonna sneak up her and get my dad playing shed on it now you got to watch him old sneaky things there they're just as bad as pelicans almost looks like we got a bite right here folks well I know we do get up right here oh we gotta buy it over there - don't hear that clicker going off he dropped it though oh let's see let me get my clicker no way y'all that's what I thought baby we've got a channel cat right here yeah horses smile blue I can't really tell right now I know he's fighting though look at that rod man come on here boy ain't that big oh you're being mean oh yeah stop it no now yeah I thought big look at there what a big channel cat folks ah no no you know there's a lot of places where that's not a big channel cat but here in the tennessee river it is that's the big one me that's a pretty fish Zoe that's a good one for the Tennessee River the I've caught channel cat quite a bit bigger than that but channel cats capable of getting what 20 25 pounds in some places but here on the Tennessee River we have so many blue cat and when you have a lot of blue cat in a river system or a lake channel cat don't do real well but that's a big one let's let him go how fat that fish is Mike had to click or go off on this one stop now I'm not gonna make the same mistake as I did last year is it's going to the bottom was just going to go real slow because I don't have any weight I'm gonna turn my clicker on and let go to the bottom and after a while I'll tighten my line up to it because I made a mistake last year I didn't do that and I lost doggone good real rod like that and I mean a good one is left try sitting here for later face let's move them I tell you what folks every day is special I'm just having to move around I'm having a little trouble finding fish but I'm gonna try to slip by this thing right here look here it's only its nest and them right there about you okay and I'm going to get right in there right above him a little bit because out in there there's a little rock pile look at them look at him y'all see them eggs and stuff that thing's gonna attack me but I'm gonna try to slip by okay John look what some big then I'm gonna leave him alone now but now I got the fish now it's a pretty day it's cold but now I got fish look at it it's being mean to me I can't find no blues and I believe it's kind of the barometric pressure they're here but they don't want to buy it so I may have to downsize my bags a little bit and see if we can't catch you some channels but I'm gonna get right here you stop it this is the spot right here now or it might be alright let's try our again there's another bird that just almost hit me I'm having trouble with the animals today folks I'm getting a bat right there folks see that spoke and I bet you this is a I bet you this is a channel kit let's see what we got yeah there he is now this is fun this is a medium white rod right here vigilante only know if they make them we know it's old rod lookee here I want y'all look that's kindly a little bonus right here little flathead what about that ain't that Purdy I thought that was a channel cat look at that weird hey no you stop it wanna beat yourself up right here let's lift the fish nope that's a beautiful fish hey you ain't no monster but we're not fishing for monsters today we're just fishing for what we can catch I've give up on the blues so what I'm gonna get my paws song using little bitty pieces of cut bait right here look at there matching you tackle to your fish that's what's fun about it now I wished I'd have probably another rod like that instead of these old big ones that was my fault but ain't that pretty let him go Thank You flathead alright folks this is what I'm gonna use right here this is just a little strip that I cut out of that gizzard shad size three Eagle Claw hook circle hook and see car is the name of that by the way enough time to Palomar knot in that flathead I call was about that distance out not very far at all and I'm not using anyway no $90 because if I do here it's real rocky right where this drops off and I remember the water is high so what I'm wanting that little bait to do is file right at the base of those rocks where files off that way and the water is real real high even though it's windy that little bait will still file down to the bottom when it gets to the bottom it's gonna be on the bottom and I'm going to adjust this the word is pretty tight about like they need to keep when a fish hits it to keep it from back lashing maybe I just ain't going I'll be able to hear it sound off like a clicker but I'll be watching it well I'm proud of that she's not she knows I'm no threat now so she's quit that old squawking and hissing at me so we in good shape right now all right fish let's get a bite let's see what we got there yes I tell you this is definitely working right here this is making a good day a bad day of fishing into a good day this is a channel I can tell by the ways fighting little channel kept these fish because of the high water these fish is right at the base of those rocks instead of out there and they're hitting these little baits but excuse me they're hitting these little baits a lot better look at their - you know the big baits the bigger baits these little strip baits is working what about that I should have known I had to try a lot of different places and finally stumbled onto a little pattern right here high water well they're gonna move up towards the bank ain't they folks in this situation right on the drop right at the base of the dogs ain't that something I tell ya I tried to catch a bluegill a bluegill - put him on out there and see if we could get lucky with a big flat head but I'm gonna wait about that that'll be a different video because it's so windy what I'm going to do is just move along this Bank and fish just like that just a circle hook and a piece of strip and it's working I guess high-pressure fish well I've always been told the high pressured catfish if there's a high pressure the barometer is real high they like the smaller bait so that seems to be working seems will be worked so let's pudding back there it goes ain't that something yeah way it goes to prove you gotta try all kinds of stuff on a bad day something to work usually let's catch another one there he is Rhea folks I don't really know what I got I barely got that camera on in time I know that I got a channel cat lassoed sorry about the camera work I was trying to sit down to eat me a monk pie right here and these fish won't let me they're bite now talking about now that's another channel cat come here boy pretty good one tooth pretty good fish every once in a while I'm feeding my buddy over there I'll throw them a piece of shed come on in here that's a good eating size this this kind of fishing right here this technique usually you know you're not gonna catch a whole lot of big catfish but this is the way we used to do it back in the olden days for just eater size catfish just bass tackle light tackle I'll tell you it was a lot of fun I've got a lot of memories from that kind of stuff there he goes a lot of memories you can get out here fishing and you can just even have all kinds of memories thank y'all very much I figured these little old catfish out a little bit too late but that was going to be a good pattern if I'd had more time I could have caught more but high water forces those fish into the bank I forgot all about that I want to thank y'all very much for watching all the great comments hey Donald don't it Hey [Music] [Music]
