EASY BOUNCE ANIMATION IN FUSION - DaVinci Resolve 16 Tutorial

[Music] hi i'm casey ferris i make videos on davinci resolve here on youtube and today we're getting bouncy here's what we're going to be making oh yeah bouncy boing i like it it's like it's on a big trampoline and you're looking down from the stars right you look down onto the giant blue trampoline and you're like oh i hope those words are going to be okay when they hit the ground and it's like boring you're like oh bless us everyone so how the heck does this work this is really simple super useful all of the magic happens in this merge node right here in fact if i grab this and reset it you can see it's just text just hanging out just being boring but the great thing about merge nodes is you can adjust the size and rotation and all of the stuff about how something is placed over something else so we can do that for this text very first thing you got to do is keyframe just the initial movement right so we want this to end up something like this after i don't know about a second or so so at about 30 frames let's park our playhead at 30 frames and with the merge node selected i'll make a keyframe on size now let's go back to the beginning of our comp frame 0 and bring the size up a lot i don't know 1.8 something like that so it kind of looks like it's closer to the camera even though we're just scaling it up man we're just scaling it up and now we have this basic animation not that great all of the fanciness happens here in the spline panel so let's go up to the spline panel select that that'll show up down here and we'll tick this box that says size and go over to zoom to fit and now we have a graph of what's happening we're starting at 1.8 and we're zooming all the way down to one for our scale zoom out here with these little bars give ourselves just a little bit of room and we can grab anywhere on this line and we can adjust how our animation goes imagine somebody hanging on a giant rubber band if they jump onto the rubber band it would bend down and then it would bend them back up and it would kind of do this until it calmed down right we're going to do sort of that but as a graph over time starting at zero we're actually gonna overshoot this one and go down to like i don't know point nine somewhere like that then it's gonna bounce back up but not quite as much then it's gonna bounce down but not quite as much then it's gonna bounce up but not quite as much once we have something that kind of looks like this almost think about it like a ball bouncing like boing boing boing like that then we're gonna have a pretty good bounce animation let's take a look at what it looks like there bounces bowing boing boing good the only problem is that it looks a little janky it changes direction way too fast we need this to be more realistic because things don't immediately stop they kind of slow down and stop and then change direction like this right instead of going boop boop boop boop so down in our spline panel we can select all of our later keyframes and hit f on the keyboard that's going to make this nice and smooth if this looks smooth your animation will look smooth too you can think of it like this if there's a little guy on a sled that's going down here and he doesn't die he just goes whoa and has a good time your animation is going to have a good time too the sled test now let's see how this looks yeah much better much better a little bouncy that's cool there's our little bouncy effect infusion if you want to learn more about graphics and resolve here's a training series all about making them in fusion goes from the basics all the way to fancy 3d stuff and particles and all the fancy fanciness a fancy fancy fantasy island is that like the trashy show on fox fantasy island what was that i don't know probably has nothing to do with what we've done
