Dragon Dogma 2 has surprisingly some of the most fluid and exciting combat I've seen in an open world RPG to date but a large part of how you have fun comes from your choice of vocation which is this game's class system so which vocation is best for you this video will run through everything we know about vocation so far do note that devs have stated there will be more coming some that you'll never be able to guess so this list doesn't contain them all before we start take a second to like this video and hit the Bell button if you're feeling generous it may or may not summon you a pile of pristine vintage games all right so vocations come in three flavors in Dragon Dogma 2 basic advance and hybrid basic are unlocked from the start and your porns can be any basic class just because a vocation is basic doesn't mean it's weak it just means you start off with it as an option your Advanced vocations have more complicated mechanics but it doesn't necessarily make them stronger they're just unlocked by finding specific vocation Masters in the world and thankfully it does doesn't require you to use a specific vocation to unlock it was like that in Dragon Dogma 1 and I didn't personally enjoy it hybrid vocations can't be used by pawns and only by the player character but they combine the strengths of two vocations into something new so let's begin with the basics the fighter is the first basic vocation it excels in melee combat definitely wielding a sword and a shield Fighters can slice through enemy ranks and a powerful blows while also using their Shields to protect themselves and their allies don't be fooled by The Shield though the fighter can dish out some serious damage usually wielding a shield means you're relegated to just a tank but Fighters can protect themselves and allies while knocking around their foes with quick and Powerful strikes that often hit in an AOE Fighters can use Blink strike to charge in and thrust at an enemy closing the distance rapidly a well time Parry can completely negate attacks and stagger enemies you can also roll and if you know if you're hit while rolling it seems to negate the Stagger effect you normally suffer you can taunt enemies as well the weakness of the fighter is that they riing on their team for Elemental damage range and ways to hit flying enemies here we see the fighter with a mace that seems to stagger enemies then switching quickly to a one-handed Scythe likee weapon that cuts through multiple enemies all without a break in combat weapons will have different skills example here we see a low-level fighter engaging with enemies you have your basic light and heavy attacks called Onslaught and impale respectively but you also have weapon skills if you hold L1 you'll have blink strike and Airwood slash blink strike is the charge we saw before he follows up with the light attack Onslaught here we see another weapon skill a slash of some kind that seems good for AOE then we see the player jumping and pressing the heavy attack to plunge his shield into the ground here we see the Airwood slash which will at least give the fighter way to hit High weak points and low to the ground flying enemies Compass slash has your fighter turning around and slashing all around it another great AOE and get off me button roll a fighter if you want to be the rock that holds your team together keeping damage off your friends and dealing consistent uninterrupted damage to your foes the Archer is the next basic vocation unsurprisingly the Archer specializes in Long Range attacks using a bow and arrow they perform their attacks from afar and can Target enemies in high positions covering for the weak of the fighter this is the best vocation in hitting weak points and taking down flying enemies they have a variety of Arrow types and skills that can handle a lot of situations as well as skills that can help them get out of melee range where they're the weakest you have decent Mobility as an Archer seen here sliding before following up with an arrow you can also kick and Vault backwards while firing an arrow perfect for getting out of melee range but keeping the damage coming you're Nimble enough that you won't need to stay in melee long R1 activates steady shot which you hold down to draw an arrow and release to shoot fairly simple whereas the light attack noose is just a quick shot that doesn't require you to aim here we see the dire Arrow skill it can be charged and released for huge damage he follows up with a barrage shot which is three arrows fired in a row sweep shot is up next but it's fully blocked by the goblin Shield sweep is great for trash mobs but not so great against specialized physical attack blockers follow up with some barrage and a dire Arrow which blows a off the cliff I should mention you can grab with any vocation so I expect some legalis against the alant moment when you're on top of big enemies it only counts as one though another ability we've seen is a type of explosive Arrow attach something to your Arrow Head fire it off and it will Lodge into an enemy you can follow up with an attack to detonate it hitting everything around unclear on what kind of Arrow this is but seems to be a Darkness or poison of some kind we have water or ice arrows which are being used rightly against some fiery enemies it seems like when you use this evade like aerial skill which propels you backwards it fires off your currently loaded Arrow as well in this case the water or ice Arrow you can jump dive and fire off a volum of arrows which stagger enemies then we have what looks like dire Arrow again but with a Twist it takes a while to reach its peak but when your character flashes Let It Go for huge damage and stagger fully interrupting a minotaur's seemingly uninterruptable charge attack with with a flashy Earth explosion perhaps these were an earth-based elemental Arrow it goes without saying that pick the Archer if you want to Output some high damage to mostly single targets with precise strikes while still being able to maneuver around the battlefield and hit at range the third basic vocation is the thief the thief attacks with deadly speed dealing rapid and consecutive strikes with daggers in both hands while exhibiting outstanding Mobility they quickly step away after striking exploding openings to cling onto to enemies and inflict heavy damage they may also steal items from NPCs and enemies here we see a thief nimbly taking on a minur the thief has a light attack called carve and a heavy attack called twin fangs which it can use for Fast Furious melee attacks but R1 the vocation skill is a dash called Swift step instead of the defend that the warrior has the thief doesn't even use these specialized weapon skills to take this ogre down focusing just on climbing it and slashing at its weak point as climbing is something the thief does very well though we didn't see the thief use it specifically we see a warfare using the thief skill to place an explosive Satchel called a powder charge on a dragon at least with the gameplay we've seen so far the thief has weapon skills Helm splitter biting wind smoke screen and power to charge to name a few here we see biting wind in action the attack seems like it would do a lot of damage in a combo if all strikes hit here we see the very popular from the first game Helm splitter attack which has you jump up up and multistrike in a blaner like ball or death making it very easier to hit large enemies and their weak points so the thief seems perfect if you like being the fastest person on the battlefield dealing High sustained damage being effective when grappling large enemies and employing tricks to get the best of your enemies also if you simply just like stealing things the final basic vocation is the Mage wielding a staff the Mage offers support to their party in various ways from launching magic attacks offering enchantments the B the party members weapons to Casting healing spells the more advanced and Powerful the magic is the longer the incantation time will take as a mage you'll experience the Strategic excitement of defly executing your magic abilities Mage is the ultimate starting support vocation healing you when you get into a pinch and applying fire to your weapon attacks here we see the Mage cast a powerful wind-based spell against a cyclops the Mage can also cool down powerful lightning bolts and use the light attack magic bolt sadly with we don't have much more specific info at the Time Mage is the ultimate support vocation able to dish out damage as well as heal and buff your whole team meaning fire and lightning weapons for everyone this may be the best class for your porn at least early on or best for you until you choose to roll the sorcerer the magic Archer or the trickster for a sidestep to a different support class the first Advanced vocation is the warrior the warrior boasts a robust physique specializing in direct combat with the strength to enjoy enemy counterattacks Warriors are the masters of two-handed weapons such as the Great Sword and the hammer the strikes you can unleash after charging an attack and identifying an opening is among the most powerful attacks of all vocations but also the slowest Warriors hit harder than the fighter but lack the agility defense and attack speed instead of a defend button on R1 the warrior has the barge ability which is a quick shoulder slam that interrupts enemies this is to offset the vocation slow attacks and allows you to stagger enemies that would otherwise hit you between your strikes they have a light attack Mighty sweep and a heavy Stone splitter most attacks can be charged for bigger damage at the cost of extra time taken to swing we can see here the player charging his light attack then following up with a barge which knocks down the ogre he then charges the mighty swing to do some major damage when the ogre's on the ground then he charges his weapon skill Skyward Su notably jumping then striking with a heavy attack will remove the long swing time and still do huge damage so the player tries to utilize The Cliff face a lot another jump and heavy attack lands right on the head of the enemy and grabs onto the Beast without needing to use your grab using a light attack swings at the enemy and using heavy plunges the sword into its neck doing huge damage and really pissing the ogre off it seems like using barge at the wrong times won't do much to the enemy but timing it right will knock even big enemies like this down so this Warrior has two weapon skills unlocked rening sweep and Skyward suer the ladder of which he used uses again to sh yukin the ogre I foree this ability being great at reaching we points on tall enemies or hitting flying enemies Out Of Reach like all Warrior skills it can be charged it seems like you learn this vocation from Lennard The Swordsman who has long served the Fortress Village of Mel this Advanced vocation will be great for those who want to do huge damage and really play with the risk versus reward aspect of the game you need a good team of porn to support you and your lack of combat options but if you have that you'll be ripping through your foes no problem problem the next and final revealed Advanced vocation is the sorcerer the sorcerer is a vocation completely specialized in various damaging magic attacks that means no heals and no Buffs they're pure damage the magic is conjured with both hands through a large staff and can change the tide of battle at any given opportunity as their magic spells take longer to cast it's key for the sorcerer to find a safe place to determine the correct moment to strike the sorcerer's light attack is the magic bolt and galvaniz is placed on the heavy slot but is a recover stamina type meditate skill holding R1 is a way to Quicken spells your currently casting at the cost of stamina and at the cost of having a defensive skill like the fighter and Thief have on that slot this sorcerer has access to the weapon skills haggle High 11 High flag rtion and Salam Mana the player uses haggle immediately on the goblin he uses Quicken spell to shorten the cast and sets off a huge storm that's effective on these small Goblins the play than happens on a cyclops and casts High 11 and quickens the cast this calls down powerful lightning strikes on the creature by pressing the face buttons you can follow up with extra lightning strikes each costing a bit of stamina he then tries out the high fibration which is a kind of flamethrower type effect he then follows up with salamander which lights the ground on fire he's been using quick spell to shorten the cast times of each of these but he's doing well to manage stamina until he needs to dash away from the Cyclops which drains all all his stamina quite quickly here we see the sorcerer trying to cast the spell with quick cast but running out of stamina stopping the spell and exhausting the player surprisingly the player continues to cast big spells into the smaller magic bolt for damage he finally uses galvaniz to give back stamina quickly he then uses levitate to grab onto the cyclops's head and cast magic bolt to the face which finally FS the creature a huge ability is summoning a meteor on your enemies here we see you and your porn casting the spell together together casting a spell next to a magic wielding porn will let you both reduce the cast time the meteor comes down and Strikes the enemy with a satisfying Bank like the warrior the sorcerer has a lot of risk and reward it's perfect for those who like big flashy spells that have even better effects they're good at using the right elements to take down the right enemies but are slow and weak so the right positioning is key with a few defensive horns as a hybrid vocation of Archer and Mage the magic Archer is available only to the Arisen it excels at longrange combat with their magical arrows in addition to attacking or healing magic archers are also Adept at supporting their allies they can learn a custom skill that unleashes a devastating attack over a wide area in exchange for reducing their own maximum HP remember you can't recover maximum HP without resting at an inn or a campsite so you can't use potions or food this means you definitely don't want to use this attack that often here we see the Archer locking onto an enemy with their ability and unleashing a volley of magical arrows we see a more powered up version against a griffin who eventually succumbs to the onslaught here we see the magic Archer using ranged magic to resurrect a fallen pawn and seemingly push back an enemy we don't have much information on the magic Archer yet but if Dragon Dogma 1 is anything to go by having magical arrows means you'll be able to handle any situation that comes up so it's very clear if you like a range Magic archers supporting your team and being the commander of your squad magic Archer might be just for you the Mystic spear hand a hybrid vocation of fighter and Mage available only to the Arisen combines melee and Magic making him a well balanced vocation that's effective from any range the Mystic spear hand is a master of their unique weapon the juros spear using magic they can paralyze enemies or hurl multiple objects at them in action the mystics behind dances around the battlefield like Prince obam using enchanted weapons to magically hurt enemies a mix of magical and physical damage will mean those pesky magic or physically immune enemies won't be a problem for you we see the vocation flashily spinning around as juros spear then finishing off the attack with a slam taking care of multiple Wolves at once we also see its maneuverability as it fires off a bolt that paralyzes a wolf then uses a blink strike like ability while finally finishing it off with an impal like effect when faced with a camera the Mystic spear hand doesn't Flinch it simply uses the force to pick up a wolf corpse and throw it at the Beast staggering it he then leaps nimbl onto its head and starts attacking it seems like you learn this vocation from sigard a Dragon Hunter who is consumed by the extermination of dragon kind not much is known about this vocation except it seems very balanced flashy Nimble with a lot of options it's unclear how powerful it will be but I'm sure it'll attract a lot of people like me to its potential the next hybrid vocation the trickster seems to be a combination of two unrevealed vocations at least if their icon is anything to go by this is the most unique vocation showed off so far thankfully we have a ton of information on it thanks to IGN going Hands-On with it for over an hour they mentioned that the trickster is a sty of gameplay unlike anything that they've seen before in an open world RPG so the main point of difference with the trickster is that they deal no direct damage their weapon of choice is a ceremonial sensor it doesn't hurt enemies but it does draw a lot of of aggro so you'll be swinging this thing around to pull enemies to you as well as using an ability suffocating shroud to hit all enemies in an AOE around you to draw all their aggro why do you want to do this well you can make an effigy of yourself a smoke clone that enemies will perceive as you and will attack you can place your clone next to a cliff to have enemies hurling themselves off or you can cite enemies around while your porns deal damage my assumption is that these Illusions feel real to your enemies in a Scarecrow from Batman type drug effect as as long as you keep aggro your enemies will keep attacking your Illusions you can make a fake ledge that your enemies will see as real only for them to hurdle off the next skill creates a wall of smoke that you can see through but your enemies can't you can also exit your body and control a projection that you can freely fly around this can be used for scouting but can also call your clone to wherever it is letting you set up points where your enemies will just throw themselves off cliffs or kill themselves using these skills together R shows how you can scout an are put a clone down off a cliff set up a false floor then use suffocating shroud to draw aggro to it then profit as your enemies All Die Another ability is dragon's delusion it takes a while to cast but it seemingly terrifies any enemy that sees it making flying enemies fall to the ground and even stunning the larger enemies like ogres letting you whale on them with impunity this effect usually is only reserved for doing major damage to their weak points so as you can imagine the trickster is a support vocation they excel at buffing your team and having your porns do their heavy lifting when it comes to damage one buff they showed off was aromatic Resurgence which simply makes your team hit a lot harder IGN State they had to make a mental note not to use this Buff when recording as the porns would kill enemies too fast and they wouldn't be able to show off the trickster skills in action this vocation is definitely on the difficult to master side naturally these kinds of vocations will start off weak but will be very powerful late in order to encourage people to play them so if you like killing ene enemies in interesting ways keeping your porn safe but buffing them up like a minion Master this might be the vocation for you it seems like you can learn to be a trickster from LZ the vermian court Oracle she's currently in hiding out of fear for her life for speaking out against the false Arisen taking the throne the Warfare is a new vocation exclusive to the Arisen that can use every weapon and learn different skills from each vocation by using diverse weapons the Warfare can respond to any situation and create combos that cross vocational boundaries more on that soon the warfare's lower base stats require them to utilize the situational strengths of the different weapon types to be on par with other vocations with specialized strengths so you don't need to be a specific vocation to level up your stats then switch to get the best benefit when you switch your stats will switch with you here we see their strength in action seemingly carrying three weapon sets at a time the Warfare uses a staff or wand to set up a magical explosion then switches to the josar to leap at the Drake and slash at its weak points when staggered the Warfare switches to Twin daggers does some damage and places a powder charge on the back of the Drake's head jumps off and detonates it dealing major damage here we see the warf farer again using 103 weapons this time a bow attack to the minur from range with seemingly a magic Archer vocation skill it then changes to the Warrior's giant two-handed sword to block the charge and follow up with a huge overhead swing which warps the air and staggers the Beast switching back to the bow he uses the vault-like ability to put some distance between him and the Minotaur and starts casting the magic Arrow abilities again next we see the Warfare casting that cool Mah hero Academia style ice attack before switching to a warrior sword running up the path of the ice wall created jumping off and slashing down with gravity for major damage against the Cyclops so you can start to see how having access to all the abilities might manifest in powerful combos so so the Warfare is for those who want to have the most powerful options for every situation and have no issue using skill to overcome lower stats I foresee this vocation being very strong at the end of the game so those are all the revealed vocations at recording what do you think did I miss anything what will be your main
