nice to be back it's good to know i have good company so i'm not the only introvert in the house all right so yes [Music] i went on radio 1995 february that's 26 years now and it was a big revelation for me it was a big shift helping me to appreciate the value of what i have then from then i added tv and so on of course with time i then discovered speaking to tens of thousands of people or hundreds of thousands who at the same time is good you know in terms of leverage but then it also has its downsides yeah it's like giving everyone a shirt of the same size for some it will fit perfectly for some it will be too big for some it will be too tight but some of you we won't be able to put yourself in it at all and that's why i had then had to move into coaching and mentoring because i didn't realize there's a place for working with the individual and that made me go you know to get my higher degrees at the highest level of success at the highest level you help other people to succeed at the highest level you help other people to succeed so these days i spend [Music] more of my time talking to leaders because they influence a lot of people so i figure if i spend an hour with a ceo or governor or president that would be a good investment of my time because they influence a lot of people so i enjoy my time sharing with leaders i am hoping that our discussion today is going to bear fruit for us in jesus name so let's start from where we stopped discovering and celebrating and releasing your value is self-leadership and self-leadership is the most difficult part of leadership so my challenge to us at the end of the last session or the first session was that functioning at that level where we're leveraging our gifts our strengths our talents tapping into our creativity to create solutions for people and their situations the circumstances that's the highest level at which we function as humans and i said that is strategic work that is strategic thinking because it gives us the opportunity to add value in quantum measure just think about joseph for example in the bible joseph was sorry pastor joe i know you are joseph and i thank god that joseph is a good name in the bible so just think of the fact that this young man had a gift for dreaming you know capturing truths realities information or knowledge through dreams and he had the gift for interpreting dreams at a low level he used this gift in the prison but then the person he interpreted a dream for in prison was in the palace within a few days and it was that same person that would mention one day when the the king had a dream nobody could interpret ah i met a young man in prison and they had to go fish him out so that's what i'm talking about when it comes to that your combination your uniqueness your strengths the amazing thing is that there is no body on this planet that can replace you the more you focus on this kind of work which i call strategic the more irreplaceable you are and the more valuable you are you see because this thing plays on the on the law basic law of economics the law of demand and supply why am i encouraging that we should try and move away from operational work because i'm talking to leaders that we should move away from operational work and do more strategic work it is because operational work is replaceable and i said right now with artificial intelligence and all that machines are not even replacing humans but when it comes to interpreting pharaoh's dream no matching can do that so for joseph how much energy did he exact to interpret the dream nothing because it's a gift it's a gift so you can only add skill to it okay increase your proficiency in the use of that gift but it is in it it is there that's why it's a gift you can work for it it is a demonstration of god's grace okay i'm encouraging us to do more of that work creative work strategic work in acts chapter 6 okay acts chapter 6. so you know so jesus did creative work right and he made impact and then he picked these professionals ordinary people taught them to do strategic work and they exploded and on the day of pentecost their capacity to influence people just exploded three thousand people saved acts chapter three five thousand so you roll into acts chapter six then there's a problem because there's growth you have thousands of people they're distributing food to people but there's a problem with the operations some people were getting the food some were not getting and if you attended if you've been attending weddings let's say nigeria for a long time you will understand that some people will get food some will even have spare to take home some will get nothing i still i watched a video skit just a few days ago you know this lady was distributing you know us in nigeria now what do we call them souvenirs she gave to this person gave to this person then skipped the head of this person and went to give to the other person gave another person and then she thought i was going with what was left she still had those plastic balls with her the lady that was skipped just reached out and smashed one from her so in earth chapter six the grisham women were complaining because obviously there was some ethnic thing there because it was actually an ethnic group that was complaining exactly so if you don't know somebody at the wedding reception they can skip your head with the rice the response of the apostles was phenomenal act chapter 6 verse 2 he said we cannot leave the word of god to serve tables we can't leave strategic work to do operations what is creating the growth is the strategic work it's the prayer it's the downloading of revelation from the holy spirit it is saying what god said that is the one god is confirming that's why the healings are coming and so on and that's what's pulling the crowd it's the anointing we cannot live functioning in the area of our anointing to do operational work so they created the structure and delegated the operations verse four they said but we will give ourselves continually to prayer into the ministry of the word once they separated it like that act six verse seven says and the word of god increased and the number of disciples multiplied greatly in jerusalem in leadership when i work with organizations and i try to help them diagnose what their issues are i go through what we call organizational design and i compare effectiveness with efficiency effectiveness is achieving goals expansion increase growth efficiency is smooth running and then ensuring that you get the best outputs from the least input of resources that's dealing with the detail budget planning and all that leaders should focus on the growth part and that takes the reflection it takes thinking honestly some of the greatest growth that leaders get they get while they're on vacation while they're reflecting what they're thinking okay it's it's amazing i i created the course online in my consultancy how to become a strategic leader so and i tell organizational leaders you're promoting people because they're very effective they achieve their goals you're promoting them but when you move them from manager level to executive level most organizations don't train people on how to do strategic work they get into the strategic level they still want to do operation because not doing operations makes them feel jobless because now their job is thinking their job is planning their job is looking at the data what is working what is not working what is going on what is coming down and why okay this was the budgeted amount this was the actual income this was the actual expenditure this is the variation why oh we performed better than we expected here if you can't answer why you can't multiply it and you need to multiply it you want more of that okay if we did not meet expectation here why so that you can minimize that that's the job of a strategic leader where is our greatest opportunity right now and then moving out of the organization and looking at the environment outside because sometimes the environment is changing the organization is not changing all of a sudden you will find out what was working is not working anymore and if it's judged you know who is responsible is the enemy ah he's the enemy satan is a liar oh god look at the figures the figures are talking to you like two years before the pandemic started i was looking at the figures our attendance figures in church the online attendance was already more than half the physical attendance ah so i took it to the meeting i said are you guys paying attention to this online attendance yet when we welcome people to the service we say let us welcome the online audience i said they don't see themselves as audiences they are attending the service as much as the person that is there physically they are not audience they are not spectators the people present physically are not performing for them to watch they are as much a part of their service as everybody else and they give they give time they give offerings you can't call them audience i said by the way that's a mega church so how do we treat them as valid people that are a part of this church so we set up the star online church and give them a pastor and recruited workers it's a church so it's a center like one of our other centers that changed everything okay so that's what i'm talking about because that's an opportunity for growth so the truth is that before the pandemic struck online attendants had overtaken the physical one because that was the target i was saying there's a limited number of people we can take physically when you move into cyberspace there's no limit we can as well have everybody in the world we can have one million people there that's where the opportunity is i should tell you though it was a struggle we're still working on networks struggling to shift our thinking to online we have a conference coming up in november a leadership conference on monday we've been working at it for months preparing then on monday my spirit just got disturbed somehow something was just out of place something was by tuesday i fixed it just 15 minutes before my management meeting started so at the meeting i announced to them the meeting is going 100 virtual i'm ashamed to confess that it took us about 30 minutes before everybody got around to being comfortable with us going on with it so i then said to them the last one we had before the pandemic happened do you guys remember the attendance figures physical one was 6500 online was 56 000. do you remember the meeting we had the review meeting we had just after the conference that we were worried that we had space for 9500 only 6500 came up i then stopped the discussion midway i said why are we expending energy on the physical attendance putting all the effort you put in the maximum space is 9500 56 000 people attended online should wisdom not tell us that we should invest that energy in the online where we can grow it two hundred thousand two hundred thousand three hundred thousand i said do you guys i said we're back to the same point what will we lose if we don't do the physical one sorry i'm just explaining this strategic thinking versus operational thinking because most people live their lives at the functional level at the operational level but when you do strategic thinking you're able to spot where the opportunities for groups are should i give you a scriptural example yeah i know i'm spending a lot of my time on this but i feel like the illusory wants me to emphasize it um zacchaeus luke 19. zacchaeus so zacchaeus wanted to see jesus when he got to where jesus was there was a crowd and then they said he was shot of stature his objective is to see jesus objective could not be achieved then he switched on to thinking and he did something he ran ahead he ran ahead so for him it was right here i cannot see jesus here where can i see him it's like he realized ah i came late there were other people there already obviously those ones had been with him since yesterday or day before yesterday i tell people anything you want to do will find out you met people there you may be put there any business you want to do ministry anything you met people there then they said it was short of stature how do you know he's shot it's when you're comparing with other people now nobody's shot nobody's tall until you begin to compare people good so he was measuring himself against people he met there and i said that's it if you find anybody succeeding with anything or any organization it is because they found their point of advantage they found their strengths you measure yourself against them you feel weak you feel short find your own but the thing i appreciate most about zacchaeus was realizing today was created yesterday by strategic people you have no control over today the only thing you have the power to shape now is tomorrow because tomorrow is still in fluid state he's sensing the direction in which the crowd would go and running ahead rich people don't run they employ people to run not only did the guy run he climbed a tree so that's strategic thinking honestly the money billionaires make their money 10 years before others how else do i explain it jeff bezos made his billions in 1994 when he said someday bookshops will leverage this internet thing people will leverage this internet thing to buy books they won't have to walk to book shops anymore and he sounded like a madman and was walking her teeth crowded him was crawling for years working at it working and then boom and then the pandemic comes and everything shifts because he went and climbed it's a camo tree since 1994. what's the future going to be like then you take a position zacchaeus ran ahead of everybody and took a position so it's not enough to run there's positioning there's a place where you can stand and opportunities will see you and you will see them there's also a place where you can stand opportunities will not see you and you will not see them long and shocked jesus arrives there the future that zacchaeus imagined happened jesus arrived there looked up saw zacchaeus that just saw him destiny happened everything stopped jesus says that just come down we're going to your house then people were grumbling heaven recognized his effort he invested in tomorrow he saw ahead he saw where the opportunity for growth was and they invested there and got a massive harvest jesus dragged the whole crowd to zacchaeus's house then people say ah the guy just broke through suddenly [Music] i'm asking us to invest more of our time in that kind of level of work um let me move on quickly to just add a few more thoughts build your brand build your brand once you find that uniqueness that strength that capacity to solve problems at an unusual level build your brand in other words you should develop that capacity to the highest level and then let people know and i'm saying that consciously because we christians struggle with that point we struggle with it it doesn't fit our description of humility to call yourself something it is bragging we struggle with matthew 6. when you give arms to the poor do it secretly so that your father who sees you in secret he will bless you openly even when it comes to prayer your father who sees you in secret he will reward you open thank you so so we struggle with operating in the open with you know claiming making public claims about who we are we struggle with advertising we struggle with publicity the holy spirit had to teach me personally so when our church finally began to grow we printed flyers for an event we printed twenty thousand twenty thousand flyers early part of 2001 20 we we we i had never done 20 000 flyers before so i was happy 20 000. then the oldest preset 20 000 flyers what are twenty thousand flyers in the city of twelve million people i say ah he said yes he said i know you have this vision you are holding the vision i gave you and in that vision you see a crowd he said but that crowd is sprinkled all over the city he said your publicity will have to cover the whole city for those people sprinkled all over the place to gather together to form the crowd that you saw so 20 000 flyers won't do it hey he said yes he said coca-cola is doing better than you guys they advertise on tv on radio on billboards in fact in nigeria then they used to paint kiosks on the roadside and the sign boards of schools he said you in the church have events and the best advertising you do is prayer and fasting so he said the whole of the spiritual world is aware that you have an event and then when you get to the event he said you have few people he said and you people have a way you console yourselves you say don't worry it is the people that god wanted to come that came he said it's not true he said there are loads of people i wanted to come that did not come because they were not aware that anything was happening so i don't have anything to do with it he said you have few people but the place is jammed with angels because it was the spiritual world you informed [Music] in fact i just went to the pastor's meeting i said please guys can you give me the names of church members that work in the advertising industry we collated the names i fixed the meeting i want to have a meeting with them somewhere along the line i read somewhere that the man that refuses to advertise is like a man that winks at a girl in the dark you know how we guys going cut ladies he said he's winking in the dark he knows what he's doing but the girl doesn't know so she doesn't fall in love so at the meeting i told the guys please we're about to start the third service i want us to blanket this city with advertising they said okay pastor thank you he said by the way pastor do you think everybody in this city knows the name destar i said no i said i've met some of our church members and our flyers used to be really beautiful colorful i said the best of our members they would tell me i gave the flyer to somebody the person looked it and said what is this that so i said i know people don't know the name they said fine he said so pastor it's not advertising we will start with we will start with branding people need to know the name and the unique value that will derive from it is that so what do you think brings people the most to our church i say it's the word it's the word teaching is my number one gift they say fine can you give us two weeks they came back with a report and gave me a line www.daystar the commonwealth c-o-m-e the word works wonders at dexter so come so the zebra that is what we're going to push if you don't mind i said fine extra budget though at that time 2001 one million era per month for five straight months every weekend we advertised on tv radio newspaper then we were printing 100 000 flyers at the time giving church members just to distribute then we rented giant billboards all around lagos just www.desta.com good to know the name and the value they will derive from it so i said earlier on that matthew 6 let not your right hand know what your left hand is doing so we'll be hiding all over the place but you see the bible was not written in chapters and verses you just back up into chapter five then you will see matthew 5 13 you are the light of the world you are the salt of the eighth then in verse 16 you see let your light so shine let your light so shine before the world that they may see your good works and do what glorify your father in heaven jesus said nobody lights a candle and hides it under a basket you put it on where on a lampstand so that you can throw light to the whole house hey we we went to hold the wrong part it is not the advertising or publicity or showing that is the issue the motive is the problem the motive is the problem for pharisees they want to be seen jesus says if you do it the right way the glory will not come to you it will go to your father and have no body and no product should be more advertised on this planet than jesus christ and his saving grace amen so be bold to identify the unique value that you have to add easy so in fact with time you try to write it express it so that you know there's something called elevator pitch that if you find yourself in an elevator with the president you know and you agree before the president gets out of the elevator you have the opportunity to sell yourself to say what you do what will you say it is something to work on honestly and it's something you refine and refine and refine until you really get it so that whether it is one minute you have or one hour you can say it from your heart unlike others that chase opportunities when you get it right opportunities chase you so if you look on my social media bio i've been working on it still working on it if i get professionals actually to help me work on it i write there that i'm a global speaker a strategic leadership expert a minister i help leaders to see possibilities and to become those possibilities as a sum total that's my pitch for now when i work with leaders i open their eyes to see possibilities the potential for growth and actually can coach them to turn all that into reality yeah and be bold enough to express it to say jesus did the spirit of the lord god is upon me i am anointed that's what he was saying i am anointed there's no room for us playing victims you notice the leaders that did that perished in number 13 it's a huge mistake huge mistake and not only did they lead themselves into damnation all the people that followed them perished with them in the desert it's important that you identify the unique value that you have and that you express it okay so build your brand build your brand the next thing is find and focus on the people that find what you have to give highly valuable see the next mistake we make is we want to offer our gift to everybody we chase everybody and most people express disinterest then we chase them harder i was chatting with pastor joe on this you know some weeks back and i said you know we've been making a mistake i said when you change people that don't need what you have i said you will have to beg them to buy it and then they will now back game for it again on it then you will reduce the price even then they are still not interested pastor joe said you know as you were saying that day what i was thinking about was chloroquine chloroquine i said yes he said how can you sell chloroquine to somebody that is not sick i said thank you i said when you are supposed to go and look for somebody that has malaria that is about to die if you double deprived the person will pay am i right stop trying to sell to everybody find those that believe that what you have is highly valuable focus on them and forget everybody else jesus told his disciples when you enter a city [Music] he said carry us under shake the dust find another city to go [Music] don't let anybody cheap on what you carry it is valuable someone called me you know recently and said i'm struggling with this area of my work i need you to help me i said that's no no problem i was even ready you know to do some mentoring with the person you know then because he's been successful in business he appreciates value he said sir i'm going to pay i said hey he said yes because i know i'll make my money back okay he said secondly if i don't pay for it i won't use it i won't value it i won't take it seriously okay so we had our first coaching session he paid a lot and we had our first question session on wednesday on thursday morning he sent me a text message thanking me i said now wow how can somebody pay for a service and be thanking you and whatever it was i was just being me it's not it wasn't nothing extraordinary to me halfway through the discussion i said okay going by the things we've discussed so far are there areas where you've been doing very well and areas where you think you need to improve on so we can focus on that he said he said as you were speaking i was conducting a swat exercise on myself to find my strengths weaknesses opportunities and trace he says i scored zero over 100 on most of the points i scored is a summary if i'm to give myself anything he's five over 100. he was blown away blown away by what was normal to me right that's what i'm saying i was fulfilled doing it and he was happy he said what i just want he said what i want to know is when is the next time that we are meeting so student wisdom tell me that i should stay with that person instead of chasing people that don't think what i have is anything special it's just wisdom how will you sell to 8 billion people think about it you truly don't need a lot of people you just need a group of people that highly value what you carry focus on them and forget everybody else you must learn to say no yes there are people who send anybody that wants to cheapen what you currently say no to them see this whole thing you know it goes by the law of demand and supply if you are too much in supply you will be cheap i'm sure you know that when supply is more than demand the perceived value begins to go down i didn't say that the value begins to go down they perceived value begins to go down yeah find those people that highly value what you have focus on serving those ones to the best of your ability so i'm almost done the next level see when you've gotten this to work for you then the highest level is to be able to take people through this process that's leadership you've done self-leadership now you need to love your neighbor as yourself okay take people through the value the the first thing the leaders got to do love people genuinely and the women you see them recognize potential in them find what is unique about them that was what surprised the pharisees jesus met ordinary people took them and then they became extraordinary jesus saw in them what other people did not see it's leadership recognizing potential in people and that's vision do the same thing with other people reproduce yourself reproduce your success reproduce your success when i talk to executives these they see sweet leaders and usually they're about my age or even older i say to them look you set big goals for yourself you've achieved those goals you have money you have houses you have cars so but there's still something in your heart crying for fulfillment you want to have a sense of meaning all of a sudden now you realize all the money the houses the cars cannot meet all your needs how much do you want to eat i tell them once you cross 50 you have to be careful what you eat you cannot use eating to prove your level of breakthrough you will die how many houses were you sleeping in one night are you going to do how much sex do you want to have i said look at maslow's hierarchy of needs the first four you get by chasing your goals aspiring chasing your goals i say level five is significance but to be able to attain level five you must switch your mindset the first four levels you chase the goals for yourself to get level five significant sense of meaning fulfillment you have to turn around and chase success for other people say now think of the next generation i tell them your story is more valuable than you think it's time to reproduce yourself so that's what i've been saying to my rich friends in recent times i tell them you know my prayer now i said for god to just give us one thousand of you especially my belonging friends then my prayer now is folk so i'm persuading them to tell their stories persuading them to let us to get a mentor of the people for how long will you be the star player for how long will you be the star player become a coach if not they will retire you because you will be getting tired age will tell on you even if you falsify your age some people understand what i'm saying okay my last word here in matthew 25 jesus there told us the parable of talent so when he got the guy that had one talent and who had refused to do anything with it in verse 28 of matthew 25 he said take the talent from him give it to the man that has 10. then he established the principle in verse 29 for to him that has more will be given from him that has not even what he has will be taken away power concentrates over time you will notice anywhere in the world it's a small fraction of people that control most of the world it is true small fraction of people that control the best opportunities it's just the way it works that's why we have the pareto principle the 80 20 principle yeah power concentrates take the talent from him give it to together has ten or even the guy that has four the one that has ten resources concentrate power concentrates with time my challenge to the christian today is aim to be part of that cycle where power concentrates if we're going to be able to maximize our influence aim to be part of the top 20 either in your industry or in your geographical location usually you start from local when you've succeeded there you move to national from there you move to international from there you move to global but make it your aim to be a major influencer for the kingdom of god amen if i i have billions of dollars today it's to the advantage of the kingdom of god i've already resolved the money issue you cannot serve god and mammon i've run the test i've been declared to say to money that i will never worship it if i have power today i'll use it to further the kingdom of god so the problem with the guy that was successful was not that he was successful why would god allow yourself to become prime minister why would they allow david to become king yes he says for david i have found a man after my heart the guy who listened to me this saw guy i regret that i made him a king the thing got into his head he's not listening to me anymore he's walking against our agenda let david move in there god doesn't have a problem with us being influential he doesn't have a problem with us being leaders as long as everything will be used for the sake of the kingdom of god amen shoot to be part of the top ten percent then shifted to top five percent then shifted to top three percent and two percent then top one percent amen for the sake of the kingdom of god do it for god's glory and would end in line with his purposes for your life never forget that the great commission is actually a leadership mandate matthew 28 18 to 20. all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me go therefore and make disciples of all nations make disciples of all nations make disciples mentor coach train all nations i pray in the name of jesus christ that from here on we will find our unique point of value where we made big effort before and got small results from here on we put in normal effort we'll get big results that is the proof of the anointing anyone who has been in struggle mode up until this time i prophesy in the name of jesus christ the days of struggling are over saul and his father's servant were looking for lost donkeys for days they went through the mountains of ephraim you know the land of shalisha the land of shalem came to the land of zhu no donkeys until they said let's go to the man of god as some were poured oil on saul's head he said god has anointed you to be leader over his people and you will find out anointing will make things easier for you he said as soon as you leave here you will meet some people you will meet some of you that will tell you the donkeys you are struggling to find they've been found i said i will never go look for lost donkeys before i go to find anointing i will go for anointing first so that donkeys will position themselves where i can easily pick them i believe that's the testimony of someone here today what looked difficult before after this conference this anointing for greatness conference what looked confusing there will be clarity what looked difficult will come easy obedience to one simple instruction one idea just taking steps to execute one idea from the holy spirit will bring big results one phone call will change everything one application of proposal will change everything requesting for appointment with one person will change everything in the mighty name of jesus christ some people will change their line of business altogether some will change their line of career some will change their brand all together but i prophesy in jesus name we will never lack resources anymore we will never lack opportunities anymore because someone told saul see when you move on you will meet some people going up to the hill of god one will be carrying bread one will be calling the guru regarding one he says and they will greet you and they will give those things to you ah the days of struggling to prosper those days are over in the mighty name of jesus you will do what god has anointed you to do the resources will come to you luke chapter 8 the bible lists some women says out of whom jesus cast out devils and he healed them then the name specifically mary magdalene out of whom he cast out seven devils verse three says and the women gave to him from their substance easy when value goes from you value will come back to you money is only a means of exchange of value i prophesy we will not struggle under the mammon driven system the anointing will move the resources of that system to us in the mighty name of jesus struggling to get opportunities will not happen anymore the opportunities will happen to us the same samwell anointed david in first number 16 13 verse 14 says verse 13 says and the spirit of the lord came upon him from that day forward verse 14 says and the spirit of god departed from saul and it was really begun to trouble him then they were looking for who would solve the problem it was saul himself that said can you get me a young man who can play on the app so that i'll be refreshed then somebody mentioned david's name there that is somebody's testimony here that now the document that bears your name will come to somebody's attention they will mention your name somewhere where it matters someone who has experienced your gift thinking that they are meant to be an educator both academically inclined and also in life through authorship but this person has struggled with getting an academic position and whenever they've given up on the idea they keep feeling like they're circled back to those two areas what do they need to do okay you're on the right track i should say and you should remain persistent the thing about persistence is that we have to be willing to be flexible in our approach in other words if we're to try something seven times each time we try we should change a factor or a variable [Music] i know you've been trying to get an academic position obviously teaching is your gift how about being an entrepreneur how about starting a business that is built around the teaching gift one thing i wasn't able one dimension to this that i was wasn't able to get to today was on the need to leverage new technology they need to accept the fact that the world has changed the environment has changed any time the way people connect changes in a major way the way the global economy works changes in a major way when henry ford invented the ford car there was a whole there was massive change that came with it because they had to build roads there had to be gas stations and so on with time there was such a massive need because people were able to move faster he didn't build a faster horse carriage he built a car that was way better in terms of efficiency so when they built the railways the same thing the airplane is the same thing when the telephone was invented the same thing now it's the internet so um you know i was talking about brandinellia these days you are who google says you are these days if you measure your name to anybody the first thing first place they go is to google so um in my rebranding program i got me a coach in california speaker auto coach and talent manager and the first time we met she said i should talk to her about myself i did then she said it's amazing before we met i had gone online to check about you i went on your website she said your website does not say half of who you are of what you just told me now and he said that's a big problem your website needs to be able to communicate to me accurately what you just told me about yourself because you've achieved humongous success already then i'll give you a practical example she said you said you spoke at this leadership conference in chicago and that is global and so on i said yes he said how come i didn't see see it on your homepage if i was if she said if i were you the picture would be there in fact the video would be there how do you want to let americans know you have anything that has value for them if not to let them know you already spoke to them or to people like them i was wondering what was wrong with me why i spoke i spoke at that conference for the first time six years ago how come he did not occur to me for god's sake all this shyness this hiding this you know hiding value so i want to say to you as one who also has a teaching gift that it was january 2019 that i was having this conversation with the holy spirit we we started the conference here in the us we called it the leadership edge we had the first time in new york the second one was in chicago we were going to do the third one in new york then stopped and i said to my wife i said i'm not fulfilled with this conference yes 120 150 people i want to reach more people than that so we stopped january 2009 i was praying asking the holy spirit what should we do he said go online so i spoke to my marketing consultant here and we had a webinar at the webinar there were people from over 30 countries they were in fact live we had 600 plus then we saved it on facebook and then there were thousands within a few days if i just having over 600 people live was enough from so many countries i was so excited when it ended i was almost jumping up the physical one we organized in new york cost us a lot of money somewhere between forty and fifty thousand dollars and then we had one twenty one fifty people in attendance just taking it online cost us nothing and there were hundreds of people from so many countries so i was so excited our marketing consultant said pastor sam if you think about it i've been talking to you about this for three years i told you to hold your phone and to record yourself i said you should give us the videos we would cut them up and upload them but you have not done it i said uh i recorded two videos it's just that each time i played them i just felt awkward they're still on my phone she said that's it he said it's your age you're struggling with it struggling with this online thing he said pastor sam if i were you you know what i would do i would hire a 20 something year old young man i'd buy him a good phone that's a good camera and tell him that i'll buy his ticket to follow me all over the world he said you travel everywhere you talk you mentor people i'll tell him to just record and record and record and tell him that i'll pay him i said wow so that was what i did and now i create courses online i'm eventually i'm going to run a school online because that's where education is going the curriculum we're running with was great the schools are running was created during the industrial revolution it's outdated how many of us use most of the things were taught in school these days so self-education is the way to go online is the leverage it's the platform i had a webinar when was it was it last week or two weeks ago last week about 25 000 people signed up to attend the platform was used we used hosts a maximum of 5 000. the 5000 was packed out and there were about 4 000 people trying to get in so before the next one in about two weeks time we're looking for how to expand the capacity to host them it's online i just sat down in my study and then at the end it was a free webinar but it's the way the online business works you do the free one and you make it powerful then tell them that's not everything you know oh yeah yeah there's more there's more i created the course you want it click on this link buy and they did they did we sold thousands and thousands of dollars of the courses so i if you're trying to find platforms that people have built and you can't find the opportunity you're looking for build a platform yourself the barrier has been lowered do your teaching online that's what i would suggest thank you so much so flexible approach and there's so many out there thank you so much sir there's one question here how do you ensure as a leader that your team understands your vision how do you constantly remind them of what you're pursuing or want to accomplish very good question here because we saw from the video the problem will communicate in vision so what you have to settle once and for all is they will never get it the first time once is not enough you will have to say it over and over using diverse approaches okay i'll tell you one critical dimension i learned a lesson when our church was 500 and then i got this revelation that we were growing to 2000. i went to church on sunday and declared i have an announcement before we close the service today our church is growing from 500 to 2000 i was expecting them to clap they were just looking at me so i thought what did i say wrong i thought everybody was supposed to be happy we're growing from 500 to 2000 anyway i closed the service and one of our workers walked up to me and said pastor we thank god for that vision it's a very good vision i say thank you so [Music] from 500 to 2000 that implies that the new people that are coming will be more than those of us that are in the church now i said well yes so it means i won't be able to walk up to you after a service like this to greet you i will have to fix an appointment with your peers ah no no no no no not for somebody like you know for somebody like you but then it hit home what i said was clear to me what they had was totally different the human filter was totally different i learned a big leadership lesson that all through the week i was thinking about it and praying ha so it was how it was going to affect them that they were thinking so i came back the following sunday so i said that announcement that i make mid last week i said you see some of you have been praying for wives and you've not seen your wife because your wife is not here your wife is one of those new people that are coming into this church your husband thank you that was when they started clapping [Laughter] then they were happy with your husband if some of you have been looking for jobs your employer is one of those people coming they said amen so i discovered each person has an internal radio always tuned to the frequency w-i-i-f-m what's in it for me you want people to get what you are saying you have to put the benefits in what you are saying but it is the benefits that you use to sell your ideas leader never assume that just before because you're in the higher position you're the one that holds the microphone that when you speak they understand what you're saying no you have to sell you know sometimes our pastors make announcements maybe they announce an event then i just turn to maybe the most senior pastor i tell the pastor that was not selling you're assuming that because it's a large church you just make an announcement that they will scroll there they have priorities they have other things competing for their time it needs to be sold and you are not selling till you put what is important to them in that vision so the other part to it is then you have to say it over and over and over and over you have to write it put it where they can see it it may be the last thing i will say because the answer is a whole seminar the last thing i will say is leader learn to use stories to communicate learn to use stories more than you use facts long after they've forgotten the facts they won't forget the stories stories connect with human beings in an amazing way i mean this has been researched they've tied things to people's brains checked the brain mapping what stories were being told stories jump over many barriers in people's minds draws them in connects with them and takes them to the point of making decisions they're able to put themselves in the situation so is it any surprise then that the bible says that there was nothing jesus said to the crowd without parables without stories without illustrations when he dealt with his disciples he gave them hard meat tough meat to chew that leaders will be asking wait what do you mean but for the crowd use stories stories stay with people for long and help them to understand what which means you actually need to think those stories true be clear about the objective you want to produce the effect you want to have before you tell the story let the story be very appropriate use stories thank you so much can we clap our hands for that thank you sir being a leader ain't easy at all what do you look out for before you choose a mentor okay the first thing is the mentor is supposed to be someone who's achieved what you are trying to achieve or who's become whom you are trying to become first so this mentor's got to be somebody that inspires you the other important part to it is your values need to align find out what the values of the mentor are if you don't want someone to lead you into the ditch it's important that there is alignment in values if you value holiness make sure that the person values holiness you value integrity make sure the person values integrity if you value family it's important that your mental values family or let's say if you value balance succeeding with the balance because there are many successful people whose lives are out of balance okay i value success with the balance if i believe that real success comes with a balance because when you over invest in one part you will have to over compensate for it later yeah it shows up later so you want your values to align if you value integrity for example you value honesty once you find out somebody is cutting corners to succeed or telling lies or cheating the two of you can work together you know and it's better you don't even get close because you will be influenced so your values your mentor should inspire you your values should align um and then pray and ask the holy spirit to guide you so that you have peace about the relationship because it's only the holy spirit that knows the future amen that's a good one thank you so much sir thank you we're so grateful another question because we got to milk all the benefits of having you here today is this person is confused as to what direction they need to be going even after praying so they're praying but they still don't have a clear direction as to what they should be doing okay the prayer the direction should be the objective of the prayer jeremiah 33 verse 3 he says call unto me and i will answer you and show you great and mighty things that you don't know i pray with my pen and paper the prophet habakkuk was praying i will stand on my watch set myself on the tower see what the lord will say to me verse 2 and the lord answered me and said right so if you if you're not prepared to write or type what's the point of the prayer pay attention to the thoughts flowing through your mind while you're praying because the interesting thing is that sometimes the holy spirit doesn't shout they are slight impressions but if something is occurring and recurring pay attention to it e.g when our church was 2 000 i was praying january of that year and i asked the holy spirit a question how do we increase our attendance from 2000 to 5 000 i did not hear anything so i wrote the question on my notebook for the holy spirit to read and then give me the answer when it was ready it was first sunday march 2001 i was in the bathroom you know taking a shower the nigerian shower is different from the american one in nigeria when you use a bowl to scoop the water i put the water on your head that's the shower so that's the kind of shower i was having that day sorry not that we don't have the water for set yes in some houses we have that with water coming out just that for most people as water just went down my body spontaneous thoughts just came into my mind organize your service as if you're preparing for a party party a worship service where did this idea come from what kind of a satanic idea is this i'm sunday service so my mind since i struggled with it i struggled with it i couldn't go beyond that point the following sunday as i poured water on my body the same thoughts contain us organize your service as if you pray for it but ah the second time in the amount of two or three witnesses let everyone be established okay wait if i was to organize a party what would i do say oh i would rent tents you know and cheers jerusalem said exactly make the church comfortable for people to attend i will cook food he said that's the word make sure you get fresh revelation from heaven to give the masa i will get good music he said yes let the worship be high quality honestly split seconds then the question came into my mind so if you cook the food but you forget to invite people what will happen i said i would eat the food myself i said exactly compel them to commit when they have come what would you do while the party is going to say i will stand up from my table once in a while go from table to table say thank you for coming thank you for coming the next thought was exactly so who told you that the pastors must sit down during the service that's how we made it tell your pastors to stand up and walk around they're the ones that understand your vision let them make sure people have been properly taken care of said that's why i said so after people have gone back home what would you do i said i'll call people on the phone and say thank you for coming say exactly chase them after they have come to the service split seconds in the bathroom so my mind is like in the tumult but i dress up i run to church you know i'm in my office the worship just started i was to go down the thought just comes ideas can develop wings and fly away you capture them with your pet i say ah so in my notebook i quickly wrote the points strange spontaneous but i thank god that i heeded those thoughts tuesday pastors meeting i said to them something strange happened to me this was what the holy spirit when i got to compel them to come and i said by the way it's even in the bible i picked my bible look for it i found it in luke 14 a certain man made a great supper i said ah that was a party why did i think the holy spirit didn't understand social parties as i was reading as i was reading to the pastors the verse was exploding the man somebody made prepared food sent the disciples or servants to go bring people in the first set of people all declined one said he just bought land he wanted to go see the other one bought five yokes of oxygen wanted to go see them the third one said i just got married so don't even bother my life so as i was reading to the pastors i said ah can you notice something about all those people they were all very comfortable they did not respond the master said go and look for the poor and the lame the place was half filled he said go to the highways and the edges the place was packed up i said did you notice that as they were going down the social ladder the place was filling up if you want to attract people to the gospel you look for people that desperately need god people that have problems people that are hungry people that also i say and then i say compel them to come and i said wonderful i'm just saying you know these were spontaneous thoughts that looked crazy to me we executed that plan the church hit the 5 000 you know this was much hit the 5000 in july 3 months so i'm just saying to this person i don't want to believe that it is that god is not answering your prayer i want to say simplify your thinking quieting down a little bit more pay attention to the fleeting thoughts that are coming to you when naaman general neyman right in second kings 5 got to elijah you know elijah did not come out of his house he sent the disciple he sent him his servant gehazi tell him to go to river jordan and okay bit seven times what was neymar's response he was angry he said i thought the man would come out look up to heaven call on god touch the place and heal the man and heal me i thought when i read the passage i laughed so general nemo you knew how to heal a process why did you go preconceived ideas can make us to miss god sometimes so god's instructions the final thing i will add is if you see struggling on your own then go talk to the mentor or spiritual leader to guide you through the process okay because definitely there must be something god has for you that will shift you to the next level i'm standing with you in faith in fact to believe that spiritual blindness is destroyed spiritual deafness is cured now what god wants you to know will come to you now more clearly it may come in the dream of the night it may come while the message is going on in church it may come from someone that god will ask to tell you if it is in the book god will bring it to your attention now in jesus name thank you so much that is worth thousands of dollars what you just received loaded loaded thank you sir this question is i would like to ask if a christian can give people in big brother their company product go on the show to advertise their company big brother is the reality show i'm sure you know right generally when you do business you should establish clearly the vision of the business which is the picture of where you will be and who you will be in the future your mission should be established clearly which defines what you do daily that will get you to that vision the next most important thing you must establish are your values very important that's your compass your values the principles that will guide decision making and behavior in that organization you see those three factors the vision mission those core values if they guide your decision-making and your behavior over time they form what we call your culture and to a large extent that will determine your success so for me i won't say right or wrong i would say you establish the values that will make success possible according to your vision then use that to decide whether because you know there are different kinds of products there are different kinds of services okay and then you that will decide you decide whether it fits your values or not or practically almost every decision i make i make on the basis of values that's it as a christian my values definitely are guided by my relationship with god okay so i would never for example be part of any project that destroys human value because love remember is the recognition and celebration of value anything that demeans human life i won't be part of it okay as a leader as a christian leader for example i value equality so anything that involves prejudice bias you know i won't be part of it because in christ there is neither male nor female there is neither jew nor greek those things are important if you don't have values ultimately you won't have value all you would say you compromise just to make some dollars eventually what you will lose the reputation and eventually opportunities will be more than the money you thought you were making so i would not say right or wrong i would say let your values guide you in making your decision amen thank you sir i appreciate that so your values is what matters that's what drives your decision-making this person loves to cook i want to get to meet them because i've given up on loving cooking so much work how can such a gift add value to the society it's a very specific question they love to cook how can they add value amazing what a gift what a passion the whole world all of us in this world are your customers because if we don't eat we will die right what do you like to cook because some like to bake cakes or confectioners what do you cook in a unique way okay what's your specialty who are the people that need what you like to cook sometimes you have to experiment to find out it does look like you've been at it for some time so you very likely already know so the next thing of course is for you to develop the business model build build a business around that how much does it cost you to cook then mark it up so that you can get some products make some profit you say how do i get people to know that i cook oh get some money cook some for free and give them to eat just like i cook courses and give people to eat at my free webinars cook free food give them to eat wow them let them take one scoop and say what oh my god you got a customer right and whoever they are that subscribe to what you sell focus on them and just keep finding ways to make them happy okay you will learn a lot along the way i'll tell you one thing that could really help you if you can find someone who's already in that line of business move close to them and learn from them in fact if they say that they charge for teaching please pay them it's absolutely what it it's a worthwhile investment it will it will shorten your learning curve every business has its trade secrets yeah that are not obvious to everybody and that's why you can come as an amateur and run into debt in that line of business and people are making a lot of money there yeah so it will really help if you get the mentor that's why i said that i got a coach i've been speaking for 25 years about more than that okay but i got to coach why because i'm trying to upgrade to global standard i realized oh my god so okay so speaking in the u.s is a defined industry it's highly structured say okay the speakers are even in levels and at the highest level you get 400 000 dollars to a million for speaking for an hour or two it's highly structured and then i read the person's book and i said i better ask this person to coach me and i pay i'm paying thousands of dollars to get the job done and we're doing it gradually yesterday we still had a session together we're going through gradually because i know if i upgrade to u.s standard i'm global standard already so i'll say that about your cooking it will shorten your lending curve if you find someone who's already in that line of business so if you're a part of city of david i can almost swear there's somebody already in the land of business in this church thank you move close to them and learn and then you start selling let me encourage you don't be shy to make profit if you run out of business nobody will celebrate you for that you need to make profit to stay in business to meet your basic needs and to expand the business so that you can serve many more people with your beautiful cuisine thank you sir we have so many more questions but we have to stop
