okay [Music] can I take your order a Whataburger I would like some AC please because it's freaking hot all right that we can serve up so today we are going to well first off let me back up we were hoping to have insulation in the cabin a week before last but our installer has had some mechanical issues with this truck we were hoping he would get that fixed and be out here last week we still don't uh having uh insulation but he still doesn't have a working truck so um so it's 98 degrees outside today and probably 110 minutes it's hotter than the snakes but in the wagon Rock for sure so we picked up this Medea window unit and this is a U-shaped window unit I've never seen one like this before but our son Cameron found it and uh he ordered one and put in his cabin this is the 12 000 BTU unit it's for 550 square feet which is a little bit small for what we need for the cabins since we're like 680. but we are going to put in a mini split that would be on the other side of the cabin there to hopefully keep most of the cabin cool so in that case this is actually oversized just for the bedroom and it's very similar to having a mini split because it has the AC unit in the room and the condenser part outside so it's actually a quiet option and that's one of the benefits of it the the words that Tony is looking for is the air handler and the condenser compressor oh thank you for knowing the words I went in schools I have a knife actually it's a multi-tool required but I got this out because it has a big knife in it I have a Phillips head screwdriver or a star for some of you if you don't know don't be rude so I got a star screwdriver dance dance got a flat tip screwdriver I'm not sure I'm gonna need it but I have it in case I do I have a handy dandy Carpenter's pencil I have a measuring tape not sure I know how to read it but I have one I have a level and I have a drill with a 1 8 inch drill bit and that should be all the tools that we need to install this now it said that you just needed the knife to cut foam for the installation however I'm going to use the knife to open the box as well [Music] so we have an instruction manual brackets and there is plastic on the bed not because they're serial killed but before yes everything is prepped for installation even though it didn't happen I have a remote control there's the batteries have the main support bracket here and this is what's going to go through the window somewhat like this to support the window AC unit [Music] a couple of pieces of foam for sealing off the window oh we have a packet of extras look at that little extra that's uh pins and supposed must be the essentials another set of brackets now these depending on the size of your window will depend on which one of these brackets that you use the other half of this is already installed in this bracket right here so depending on the width of your window will depend on which one you'll need and I'm pretty sure I'm going to need the long one for that oh and then the only thing left in the Box is the actual window unit itself the first thing that it tells you to do is to find the center of the window so we're going to do that with a handy dandy measuring tape this is Cameron style and then there's the measurements uh 35 and a quarter which is going to make them right here 35 17 and a half plus plus some eighth so that's 5 8 17 and a half plus an eight oh oh five eight look you can pull out a measuring tape and measure or sometimes when you have the tools right there at your disposal just go ahead and use them just all right so now we got to push this little springy button here and we're going to send this out we basically want these to be the same distance on both sides so there is an arrow right here that shows you where the center of this bracket is hold on I can't see okay so we want to get this adjusted where that will be right over that's pretty doggone close right there huh so then I'm going to adjust this one over that is against there we are off a little bit so it's not as close as we're going to get it what these are are just to make this like a little bit level a little bit not sorry y'all I can't get out of the Sun for the glare but so yeah you want this to tilt a little bit but not too much you have your level yeah so the directions say you wanted about a quarter of a bubble off of level slanting down and that's just to let the uh the unit drain so what we're going to do here is we're going to eyeball it and then Sean or Tony probably Tony is going to confirm it with a level because they don't trust me who trust you got these little cotter pins real fun that is way more than a quarter of a bubble all right I mean they're all different I mean just adjust it not a big deal oh wait I need to do what you did here yep you sure do what's up screw it in first so on these brackets so if you look at the level right here I need to pan down [Music] it's pretty awful so these have a little adjustment three little holes right here so if it doesn't you know fit exactly to your window you can always change look at that Camry dropped at the bevel Teamwork Makes the Dream work baby all right since we've got this in here I'm going to go ahead and put the support screws in the sides here so I'm I'm thinking that the drill bits that it says that I need were if this was a finished window I don't think I'm gonna need the drill bits because it's because we're working with an unfinished window and I'm just going to go straight in like that how's your order coming along sorry for the delay thank you for your patience hi everybody so hot baby girl what's up but here's uh more foaming stuff for sewing off around the window and I'm pretty sure that some of this goes in right now [Music] so included with all the foam there is a sheet of these foam strips you need to take one of those and put on each side of the adjustable brackets all right [Music] and this should have a Groove underneath so that it sits in this panel and we are in there all right it looks like we've got it and then we have these u-brackets right here and there is a hole over here on the side [Music] now this one will go in here [Music] thank you they're screwed in and attached on both sides to the side here and to the bottom brace that goes across so next up is to measure for these blocks which are going to go in between here and the window is going to seal down onto them so what you're supposed to do so those blocks are made of condensed foam yeah yeah these are these are foam there's nothing there it's empty um Hollow piece of government tin government plastic um you're supposed to measure the distance from here to the window seal and then you add a quarter of an inch and then you cut this off and then when you wedge it down in there it should create a pretty tight seal so we're going to get that measurement now it's like six and three quarters so we're going to add a quarter so that's going to be seven inches so let me mark seven inches with my pencil here good and now I'm going to get my knife again on the floor thank you tonight I got my marks on there and I think this has a serrated Cutting Edge in here all right so we've got the serrated Cutting Edge here and then [Music] so it's not the most pretty cut but got out of work you want to take it facing this direction you need to put the foam in there too [Music] [Music] this home here and then you take this gray foam here and you're supposed to wrap it around like this and come up back up the other side a little bit I'm just gonna do a Precision cut there [Music] so you get the foam seal it's going to give it a press down there and then this it goes the other way [Music] it goes like that [Music] that just lines up push that down and then you're going to pivot this around and you're going to push it into place just like that extra foam creates a nice seal along that edge and rinse and repeat now we're going to measure the other side [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] there is a window lock mechanism in here it's a safety feature and this actually is required to be done and it is stored in here you can see I've got here's the blue tape all right so the screw right here comes out and then this blade right here that goes all the way across is going to slide across and create a lock [Music] thank you right there should work [Music] that is just a safety so that it doesn't come out of the window if it starts to fall it will catch on the lip do the same thing over here I got to remove this little screw [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you all right so that is tightened down now we have another piece and this actually so this is a flat Edge along our windowsill so this foam is just going to line that to create any cushion and tighten up the air barrier between the edge of the foam and that window sill y please [Music] so now that created a nice seal on both edges so no air gaps and this has a couple of clips that are built in back here that are so you can't open the window I'll show you on the other side here I don't know how durable those really are but there are a couple of brackets also that's screw in up here so but uh that the window can't be open from I'll go ahead and try it out open and we can show how these ones catch so you can open in a smidgen but then it catches off so I'm going to go ahead and probably install the other pieces but for right now I think I'm gonna get this AC unit get it blowing so I'm going to take this off here this is where your filter and everything so we need to go start the generator and get the extension cord so please pause for one moment all right I just put batteries in the remote here so as soon as we get this bad boy plugged in we'll get a blowing generator is fired up if we had foam this sucker would make a huge difference right now we're just hoping it takes a little bit of the edge off cools it down towards tolerable inside [Music] thank you [Music] pretty simple I just hit the on switch uh it's got a fan speed control low medium high and then Auto I'm going to kick that on high for now it's got a timer on here um looks like you can program it to shut off at a certain time seems to be blue and cold there I think this is a success so hopefully it'll cool down this big old space it will take a little bit of time probably a couple hours to see how good it's going to do in here and of course we need to shut the windows so we're not losing all of our cold air but Tony I think it's a success all right sweetness let's check back in a couple hours It's relatively quiet I wish you could feel the cool air coming from it it's pretty freaking amazing Bella's happy good job baby thank you thank you for your help all right so in conclusion on our Medea uh window unit it works really good it blows cool air it's all very pleased with the air conditioner it was pretty simple to install and uh pretty happy with it what do you think Tony I think it feels great like you can feel the difference when you get near it again like you said once we get insulation I think it will have a huge impact on the temperature of the cabin but right now we just need insulation on the walls yeah right now it's time to shut it off and I'm really trying not to do that but it's time to get packed up and um yep thumbs up on the media air conditioner please hit that like share and subscribe button just like you would a mosquito on your arm in summertime come on do it I dare you come on come on come on do it do it you know you want to thanks for watching y'all go have an adventure of your own bye
