welcome back to vice grip garage this here is our beautiful well slightly used 1967 ford f-250 actually it belongs to my son brad here it's been a really good reliable truck for us so i figured it's time to give this thing a little bit of love and we're going to do that by converting it from a points and coil system over to a gm hei i know settle down there okay we'll we'll talk it we'll talk we'll get you through it all right also we figured about time to make this a go in the town truck instead of just going to the garbage dump right so i think that starts with reupholstering the seat it's a little rotten and i think we even have some mirrors and maybe some hubcaps and other stuff don't we yeah so that'd be nice to get on there and bring it back around a little bit like that you ready to get started yeah i got a lot of work to do so might as well [Music] [Applause] [Music] brad's going to pop the hood here for you i'm going to give you a little bit of a tour under the power barn if you're not familiar with this rig brad and i actually found this out in a field abandoned geez was that a couple three years ago now already i think so we got it running but we didn't drive it home unfortunately there was absolutely no brakes we were having issues with the clutch but we've got pretty much everything sorted out it's still running just a little bit rough so we're hoping this ignition upgrade you know more sparkles will bring her back around so we've got a new fuel making happener in here you put that on actually yeah summer last summer i think that's a chicken lemonade extra rice ebay flavor it seems to be working and it's got a digital choke on it back there that's professionally wired in nope i think it's just hot wired up dalt we threw a new battery and of course we got a new master cylinder brake pipes stuff like that fuel pump make it happener we had to run a new fuel line and then just the mantinan stuff lightning hoses sparklaters oil change all that we even did some body grounds a little bit of digital i mean nothing electronic works on this thing well with the exception of the fuel gauge because we also put a new fuel tank in this and a fuel sending unit and all that stuff so what we're after right now is the old lightning can here and then the lightning whirler basically all of this unit tree we're going to get out of there and we're going to put a gm hei flavor in there get a stronger lightning storm going on and see if that will help this thing run a little bit smoother it just runs really really rough so here's what we got going on here picked up this gm hei off the evil bay but she's made for the 306 see the short little snout down here and you know it's blue so everything's fine fillers all right gm created this i think it came out in the early 70s or so and it was just what they used from mid 70s on and it prevented a feller from having to deal with the points and contacts and cleaning and maintenance and all that stuff it just really simplified the system because the coil is well it's up in here in the brain bucket you know and then we got some really fast and furious looking lightning hoses here eight m m's i don't know horsepowers probably plop another 12 or 13 in no these are probably worse than what we got in there but we'll put them in anyway because you know they're blue and then we'll put the other one in the parts bin brad's going to get all the lightning hoses off here grab them at the bottom there bud we want to try to save on those the physical installation of this is really not difficult it's pull the old one out put the new one in you could try to do it just by lining the canisters up and i'll show you what i mean by that and you can also put this on top dead center and then you know you're right basically a little more on the tricky side in some cases is going to be the digital 12vs to the you know brain how does it how do you how does it work basically some have ballast resistors some have different types of ignition keys some have different relays so we'll talk through that a little bit not that i'm the guy to be taking digital advice from but listen you've seen me do this conversion a lot over the last couple decades and i don't think i've burnt the rig down yet i take that back i've burnt several down but it wasn't because of a lightning distribution systems okay that's what i'm saying got them off i just want that stuck oh can't reach it boom well i'm going to take the distributor cup off so we could take a note out where the rotors at one way to do this which can and will work if you've done this a bunch that's kind of a shortcut way but you can just make a note of where the vacuum canister is sitting see how it's pointing off towards kind of the back of the block there and then the rotor is in between these two right so theoretically if we pull this straight out put the one straight in and get it very close to where we were it should fire up we could just put a timing light on it now i don't really like doing it that way i prefer to go to top dead center and then make sure this is pointing to our number one and that's the way we're going to do it because i also want to show my boy how to do that right so i'm taking off the number one spark plug here to help us find top dead centers so we're going to go pretty old school on this just trying to teach him some bush ways to check top dead center i'm going to have him stick his finger in the number one sparkly lighter holder and then i'm going to roll this thing over by hand because it's a 300 and they have 3.2 to 1 compression you know and he should hear and feel that compression on his finger and then we could just confirm that by looking at the timing mark here ready yeah i hear it there hear that okay that means we're coming up on the compression stroke well we got her up on the t and the d with the c and my engine turner over device here is really loose she's been squealing like that like a stuck pig for i don't know months i just do the right thing and rev the snot out of it and it comes around but starting to blow a rubber off the belt so i think we'll fix that while we're at it now we can go ahead and make a couple notes and then we'll go ahead and pull that distributor out of there now guys got to be a little bit careful here that balancer has two marks in it one big one you would think would be the timing mark and one really small one because ford it's the small one and then there's timing marks right on the timing cover over here and you can see them they're really nice no that's wrong there's also timing tabs over here down in there bolted to the cover those are the right ones because again you know ford engineering stuff so just kind of pay attention to that i don't at all i just know when i got wind up here and i could see the piston like that we're at top dead center and ready to rock huge problem for us right out of the cattle guard gate that bolt holding down the lightning wheeler yeah she's stripped more than them clubs and i ain't kidding you supposed to be a half inch not working tried to slide over to some m m wrenches nothing's going on i just we're going to have to go straight into the best tool ever made vice grip if i could fit it in there see if we could back that thing out otherwise we're going to be cutting and drilling and tapping and you name it always nice to have one of these little guys around in case you need to perform aggressive surgery like in this case i think i can sneak it in here yep yeah oh it's either stripping more or i'm getting it help me understand this oh i got it that was easy well this is the first distributor i've ever pulled so should just be able to jiggle wiggle and pull here's a little comparison old verse new and you can see where it sits down there here to here all this part is identical we just got to get the shaft out of here if it'll come out might take just to scotia heat right there slip that back into this guy and the key is just getting that lined up of course gm is a little bit different there's a groove or a slot on the bottom that drops into a pin or this is like a hexagonal eight six niner cider pipe two boss driver shaft it's this thing well a guy did go ahead and clean up the block a little bit there's a bunch of grease and grime there i just want this to sit nice and flush so this rubber o-ring you know o-rings and does its job we got enough juices leaking out of this thing okay yep guys gotta lay it up in there and you definitely can tell it's a little bit of a cheaper kit i didn't quite like how it fit in there had to get a little bit aggressive to have it sit on that o-ring but at this point we'll go ahead and get the lightning can out clean up some of this wiring and then i got to find a different bolt for the hold down because this one is shot and then we'll get it just snugged up but we still want to be able to rotate that base when we get to the timing part of this taking off the old ignition coil there we go [Music] well we're moving on to my least favorite part which is the digitals but it's got to be done this system here was a coil system as you guys know so we have power coming in and that goes from the coil to the old distributor which is now gone so we've got to test that line over there what we need for an hei conversion is 12 volts on run 12 volts on start or at least as close as we could possibly get now depending on your make model year situation it's all different fillers in some cases if you get really lucky you've already got 12 volts on that wire you change the end you plug it in you're done some will have a ballast resistor or something in line a lot of forwards do mopar stuff like that sometimes you could just go around that resistor and you'll have really close to 12 volts and so on now where it gets a little bit of hairy and you'll have to play at your own discretions it's your sandbox fella you do what you want to do is the gauge of the wire should be up there you know what i mean 12 gauge something like that you're running power through that thing constantly and you're going to want to be safe with that now if you don't have a 12 gauge wire or something there arounds that makes you feel safe you can also just put a relay in and you can get it done that way as well and i'll kind of talk about that in a minute so i got my digital meter out here and we're going to test on this and basically what we're looking for is the key on run do we have 12 volts and when the key is held in the start position do we have 12 volts now keep in mind some ignitions themselves aren't wired that way so you can swap the ignition or run a hot lead from the battery there's some ways to get around that as well but this is where we're going to start and then we can make a decision on you know which way are we going i don't know yet okay i gotta just figure it out first thing i'm gonna do is just get a base reading here where's our lightning cube at what do we got for voltages and that's looking like well just a hair a scooch past 12 which is good so we're going to want to see that or as close as we possibly can up here i'm just going to take my positive run it into this wire over here that used to go to the coil ground it out again okay brad go ahead and turn the key on okay we got just a scooch past 12 again that's great news but now last step on that particular ignition switch is when it's on start are we going to get 12 volts now with the way that this ignition system is set up i can already tell you the answer is yes but we'll go through the motion anyway okay when i tell you bradley hold that key over like you're starting the engine okay go ahead okay let off turn the key again let off great news does not move so in our particular case [Music] power down we don't have to change anything we can just snip the end off of this put a different electro digital connection on plug it into the hei and we're done now let's talk about because there's going to be a lot of k let's face it we play with junk okay there's going to be a lot of cases where you don't have 10 volts maybe you have 9 10 point 2 7 11.863 repeating it's not 12 is what i'm saying or you have a very very thin gauge wire that used to run your coil there's an easy way around that instead of rewiring your ignition or changing your ignition switch or having to swap keys and all that blagna and cheese heavy mail okay just get a relay now this one looks a little funky because it's actually a fan relay kit but these are all the same here feller and you're going to use this relay to bring in a nice clean 12 volts to run your ignition system really simple to do one of these is a ground one of these is 12 volts hot in one of them is 12 volts out to your new hei distributor remember that thin little wire you have or the one that doesn't quite have 12 volts that's your signal wire for your relay so when your key turns on it tells this relay to close and that sends that 12 volts right through this relay over to your distributor and you're done you can mount this up on the firewall or wherever you want even on the inside of the cab but basically use your ignition switch as just that a signal for another switch or this relay and you could send a nice thick gauge clean 12 volts that comes right from your battery straight through the relay up here to your distributor now don't forget to put in something like this a little fusible link on your hot lead relay goes bad smoke fire uh oh do you have insurance i'm just it's what i'm saying now i got to figure out how to pack this up again actually can i use that connector no wrong one now some of you fellers well just a couple young that guy back there have some questions on that relay i went through it pretty quick i got a fully charged eye plate here and a marker let's go ahead and lay this thing out so you guys can see what i'm talking about okay well first of all i need to draw a beautiful relay oh yeah something like that we've got 87 we've got 85 we've got 30 and then 86. now 30 is gonna be your battery okay 85 this is going to be your switch your key that's the signal wire we were talking about 87 that's going to go up to your lightning whirler which this thing is supposed to be okay there's lightning and stuff happening and then that's your ground now i was farting around a little bit earlier when i said you know use whatever voltage is here i think i said six or some other low number that's not entirely true this is a 12 volt relay so you know you should have as close to 12 volts as possible to activate it in fact it's 80 percent reference so if you do 12 times i guess it'd be 0.8 equals 9.6 volts so in theory you're going to have to have 9.6 volts on the signal wire coming into 85 to actually activate this relay and all you're doing is closing this right here sending that 12 volts through i wonder if a guy can just swap this from a ring terminal to a stab or push her on her he can i'm going to do that right now we were lucky enough to have a decent sized gauge wire in here and it actually looks like it has been replaced if i'm being completely honest at some point probably when this engine was swapped this is a newer 306. don't know when that happened though harbor freight connector failed no that can't happen back with real life connectors okay what is this what is this flavor yeah this one will work well for crying in the mud just go home that's a fancy weather seal one gotta hit her with fire over budget i'm gonna quick put this cap on and then i'm gonna let bradley get back in here and take over putting the lightning hoses on and figuring out his firing order well i figure i'm gonna teach him just like my pops taught me i actually wrote it on the valve cover and marker i think my dad scribed it into the fender with a pocket knife but same theory so anyway here you go good luck [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] while the ignition system is complete that was a really easy install actually just quick easy drop in it looks a little bit goofy with a gm style hei under the hood but who knows maybe that's a little tickle it needed what do you think about it well it looks a lot better but hopefully it runs better too that's a good point before we twist on the key on this thing and make some noise i wanted to talk about timing and timing marks really quick if you guys are into the 300s here this might help you out in the future i don't know i just i'm throwing it out there take it or you give it back you know what i mean so when we set this to top dead center we basically use the old finger and head trick when does it give us compression and then we line up the marks on the timing tab and the balancer the top dead center i had noticed kind of a weird thing here where i could physically see top dead center based on the piston orientation and the valve orientation and it wasn't lining up with the balancer or the timing mark in fact they weren't even remotely close nothing was reading at all so i made a couple phone calls to some very good friends of mine both of them in their 80s actually and they've seen this thing forward and back 397 000 times and immediately both of them said well that balancer will twist on you derek so basically they were saying the harmonic balancer timing mark has absolutely zero orientation or relation to the timing mark on the timing cover so there's a couple ways around that one is you completely ignore the balancer and the timing mark relation and you make your own you set a top dead center with a visual inspection run a camera down there a coat hanger your peepers whatever you need to do and then on your balancer you can make your own mark with a paint marker or marker or whatever you got in relation to the timing tab and you can time it with that well i'm a little bit old school as most of you know what i'm going to do is i roughed her in based on tdc and all that we're going to fire this thing up hopefully it'll take right off and i'm going to adjust this thing using vacuum you can adjust timing using the distributor based on vacuum you can also adjust your fuel make it happener based on vacuum we're going to do the same thing here the trick with the vacuum on the timing is when you think you got it dialed in and you got the most vacuum you actually have to bring her off one to two degrees because it's really common to get too much timing when you're adjusting timing by vacuum so when this thing is just humming like a sewing machine or a swiss watch wherever you're located you know what i mean bring her back a little bit i've been known by tuning engine with my feels the papers the old radars and the sniffer you know and that's what we do here is you just hear and listen feel it out lock her down drive this thing bring her back to the shop don't shut it off until you get back to the shop and then if you crank on it again and it drags like you've got a dead battery or the starter's heat soak something like that you got too much timing in it filler just bring her back a titch lock her down again try it again runner bring the engine up to temp and that's how you can kind of dial around just by senses you don't need no fancy timing lights or lasers or whatever they are in fact you don't see any here because we're not going to use them you want to go turn the key on this thing yeah all right let her happen just make sure she's in neutral because dad doesn't move quite as quick as i used to you know what i mean okay you ready fire away [Music] okay so we've got a primary source of vacuum here see the gauge so all we're going to do is just move this lightning roller back and forth until we get the highest reading of vacuum and then we'll let it sit and run until the engine gets nice and warm and once it's nice and warm we'll turn it off we'll try to start it again and that will tell us how our timing is sitting so we're going to let this sit and run for a few minutes i've already got that adjusted see how it does [Music] okay so if you heard how it just kind of dropped it was like rare i don't know how to make the noise just it wasn't it did it itself is what i'm saying it made the noise that's how you can tell that it's a little bit too far advanced so i'm gonna go under the hood bring her back just to tickle more and it's gonna be dialed in all right buddy turn it off all right fire it back up perfect so the timing is right where it needs to be i got to be honest given the wide range of vehicles i work on it's pretty odd that i haven't been this excited to drive a vehicle in quite a while as this little rig here reason being is i can already tell from the idle that this engine is running 738.63 better i mean incredibly better it used to have like a pop or a miss and it gets a guy thinking am i down on compression or what's the rings doing or i got to get into the fuel make it happener again it was all ignition related just had to pop in a little hei here and smooth that right out so i think at this point we could probably go for a little spin see how this thing does i'm excited to see how it does under load a little bit of onions you know what i mean all right your boys ready yep boy it starts like right now we might have to get you some power steering in this unit huh yeah when you're first pushing when you push me from the tractor into the shop it was really hard turning right here yeah i'm gonna have to address the belt that's really squealing i'll pick up a new one we'll see what's going on there should we do a pole on this thing spawn the tires though we got deer hey this thing rides way way better yeah it's a lot better under throttle it's not backfiring or popping she's got a little more pep on her doesn't it rarity it's your truck so you tell me should we see if it doesn't burn out yes okay what i'm going to do is dump the clutch and then get on the brakes and see if we can hold her up okay nope we'll try first here have a second here [Music] those cows are like what carnation where are we supposed to run to sorry it's hard to even explain how much better this thing actually runs if you've got an old inline six chevy you know slat six mopar half dozen buzz and forward whatever do the hei conversion guys it's definitely worth it this thing runs so much better well let's head back to the shop for tonight and tomorrow we'll start on the seat huh yeah all right well we shut her down early last night kids have school today and then we were losing on the sun beams you know i had those contacts set up in here pretty good i mean i adjusted the dwell and everything on them but had this mist that i was chasing at idle and then under partial and heavy throttle it also would spit and sputter every now and then just wasn't a consistent smooth running engine and this hei i think actually cured all of that it's running better than it ever has and the great thing is that's a super affordable kit and i think a lot of you fellers can pull this off now yesterday before we took off i tightened on the charging whirler belt but she was still just squealing like a stuck peg out there let me tell you what and i just happened to put the digital meter on the battery over here because i had to lay it up and it's over charging i'm getting like 17 18 volts uh-oh more is usually better but not on the v's lightning cube's going to start swelling up and split and then we got battery acid everywhere and looks like that's already happened 319 times because i don't even know how this is staying in currently probably just that bungee cord i wonder if a guy just changes the voltage regulator that regulates the voltage if that'll solve the issue and then put a new belt on here maybe we can calm things up probably just a stuck switch in this voltage regulator so it keeps demanding more voltage from the charging wheeler and that's where we're currently at i'm thinking maybe also if any of you know where i can get my hands on a original air cleaner assembly in here bleep bloop it down there in the comments if you've got one i'd sure like to stop running this thing just with the app wide open you know it's getting dirt and stuff in there i'm thinking probably that's fine you know i did just notice that this was an auto-magical radiator it's got the cooling ports on the bottom this thing's been all swapper rude i wonder if this 300 came out of a auto magical transmission truck and i kind of just took the whole unit out of there just for giggles and giggles i'm gonna pop this cap off and just see what we got going on in this thing sometimes i like to wrap the brain bucket around this stuff instead of just throwing parts at things let's see if we can figure out why we're replacing it well do i even have the right river pretty deceiving here the cover's all rusted up and it took me a minute to pry this off but look at that i mean she's brand and new in here now normally what ends up happening is the switch right here it gets rusted or hung up over here on the hinge side or the spring back here gets busted off and then it just makes the switch sit but this one right now she ain't locked up it's moving around like it's supposed to so i don't know i was hoping to physically see the issue but we'll go ahead and replace this and hopefully it cures the problem of overcharging could also just be a bad alternator but i don't know usually they just stop putting out voltages at that point that's in and buttoned up we'll fire it up and check it with the meter now see what it says to us [Music] boy she starts right now okay 14.6 there we go so it's charging but normally here normal-ish normal now it's not overcharging is what i'm saying so that's all that boy i got a exhaust leak that's creeping in up here i don't know how to fix that you got to just do this and you ignore it sounds better so a seat on this old rig well she's pretty worn out i'm gonna be honest the foam is shot and covers just shot it's too bad it was actually a really neat design it's kind of a vinyl top with this not vinyl material fish here and my boy really wanted to help with this but i think i'm going to try to prize on him a little bit get this done before he comes home from school and we'll see how he reacts to it well we did kick around the idea of maybe getting some like captains chairs or something out of a 70s or 80s van or maybe even some seats out of a newer ford pickup but we started calling around for pricing and they want an arm and three toes these days for stuff out of junkyards and we got to shopping around online we found material we could just recover this seat for less than what junkyards wanted for seats so that's the route we're gonna go but what i'm worried about here is where the bolts are supposed to be bolting the seat to the floor there really is no floor so this is going to be a little bit different getting out and have a feeling we're going to be stripping and ripping and cutting and we're going to have to get the liquid wrench out probably i don't know this is going to be a process though i was surprised pleasantly when this chair actually slid forward and whatnot but here's what i'm working with right there well you know it's just it's not good and that's where two bolts are there and then i think we got two rusted ones up in here and that's gonna be a fight i'm sure 78.3 hours later finally got this the rears weren't so bad i just got the oogadooga machine and blasted those out but these front ones i had six wrenches hooked together and pry bars and cheater pipes and it was a nightmare i definitely would have just got the hot wrench out this is my rig and never put bolts back in the front but it's my kiddos truck it'd be nice to have a couple holding this thing in fixing to teach him how to drive manual on this truck pretty soon actually so just trying to doll it up a little bit for him for that well can you come out of here now already hung up we didn't even get three feet okay i think i need to up my tetanus shot here okay [Music] easy easy now that through there bring her up this way like this piece of cake yeah there really is just not a floor left in this so ironically only where the seat bolts in well that one's not doing anything that side's not so bad though so that's pretty neat if you remember from when we originally picked this truck up it's riding on wood blocks i mean there's not even body mounts left on this thing normally these old fords just collapsing right on the steering column but we got that resolved with a little bit of two by a fur action old owner must have been a camel guy i don't know what that is push button starter switch auto crushing oh that was for me going to the dump nothing else lighter it might just still be good and look at this i found my good flashlight that i lost the first time he fired this rig up i'll be dipped the guy does suppose he could run a mouse sucker 500 through here quick clean up this a little bit oh a pen [Music] oh what in the devil [Music] just trying to think here i don't know that we ever vacuumed this out at any point in time i've got some good nails i got all sorts of stuff in here well it's looking a lot cleaner in here for sure this floor needs patched up correctly here so i'm going to do the right thing and just go ahead and do that run some self-tappers through that and we're good to go maybe sneak one in here nope that's a ventilation for the fuel fumage you know i mean if it works is it really a dumb idea you know what i mean this is looking good enough ready to rock now we got to move on to recovering the seat first thing is going to be disassembly we got to get these things out and whatever and then get all these hog rings cut off started using a diagonal cutter on these but i was shooting them all over the shop and then there's 58 million 9 or 11 of them all the way around so i'm going to pick the pace up a little bit and just zip zip you know what i mean that ought to get that out of there i guess we just started ripping on it huh rip tear what is oh okay that's the old wire to this thing right looks like we got one broken spring so far and of course it's right in the driver's back so we're gonna do the right thing and pretend we didn't see that all right that'll fix it there we go clearly i've done this a lot fellers see what i'm saying it's just a gentle smooth process here yes i got some hung up or something they're hanging they're just hanging up over here is this coming off now are you that doesn't seem to work i wonder what alan jackson's doing right now sure this doesn't seem to want to slide off well how how is this gonna work does this part stay okay i see what's going on oh i'm getting woozy okay this backing is pretty rotten but i didn't buy any new material to rebuild it i didn't think the back cushion was bad at all so we're just gonna have to roll with it you know what i mean i beat on this thing like a snare drum for 15-20 minutes got as clean as i possibly could and i want to get these all rebuilt on and by that i mean so 220 just scuffing them up and then i'll clean them off with some brake clean or something like that and just paint it right here on the truck and let that dry completely rebuilt brand new i'm gonna let that just kind of sit up here and eat for a minute and while that's drying i think i'm gonna go ahead and address this here door it's got i don't know if you squint and look it's got a little dang in it right around there hailstone or something no i know exactly what did that what we got here is classic cow rub they just nestle in a little bit here you know get scratched and there goes the panel shoot seen it a million times can't leave a rig next to cattle very long they're going to get every single panel and if you remember we got this truck off of an old farm and it was sitting up in a pasture there for a long time so that makes complete sense i already blewed off the inside door panel here and what i'm hoping is if a guy can just get a size 13 in here he could and then see we're just body working oh that's done so that's how you'd do that i guess yeah that's like 300 million percent gooder at least it's not completely concaved in we got some new mirrors for this pretty sure we'll get them bolted on as soon as bradley gets back from school wrestled this cover off it wasn't too mousy actually this one's got a busted spring over here on the driver's side not quite sure what i'm gonna do there i might try to borrow one from the passenger side maybe but otherwise it's in pretty decent shape i was thinking all this was going to be busted up but got her cleaned up a lot more and got to inspect it on a little bit closer and i do have a break right here so i'm going to weld this up quick get that fixed and then i think i will borrow a spring from over there and put it in over here there we go quick and easy that'll work just fine well the guy had the gas on i came in here and burned this one up as well i wasn't going to try to connect it to this part which is busted off but just tacked it on there so it's not flapping away in the back and then that's going to give us some sort of springage there got that spring in there we go now as far as the color goes i'll let bradley pick and he went with this they called it saddle it's a kind of a nice deer skinish color and i think he liked to color the seats i'm putting together for the crew cab and kind of went with this they also had like red blue black of course and i believe like a off-gray kind of color i probably personally would have went with red but now that i'm seeing the saddle i think it was a pretty solid choice should be able to just kind of let's see this way throw it up on the workbench here lay that seat down i think we'll start at the top ring in some of this and then start working our way around while i'm putting this together miles will shoot some music down your ear holes huh what should we go with this time jazz we haven't done that in a while maybe some 80s stuff not sure country that guy said i don't know do something different i think i got i got just i got just the thing we'll have a little fun with it too [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] i was going to try to surprise you and have it back in the truck before you got home from school it's cool you like the color yeah it's a lot better go get changed and you can come out and help me okay so bradley's back from school he's going to help me get the seed in it's always easier when you got another feller with you he can be the one to come in through the driver's side crawl through and kind of drag it over and then we'll work those belts in last okay okay you grab that side of the seat my knee's going through the floor oh i can't put my knee down hold on go back out there you go i'm gonna kind of crawl that way there and then tip this forward slide your belt through what do you think of that color now that it's in the truck looks a lot better you like it yeah you can see the hole right there my knee went through oh yeah sure enough speed hole that's fine how are you coming young man i'm on the last bowl all right then we'll slide it forward and get the ones behind it how do you like the floor patch there a lot better than it used to be seats bolted in and looks really good you like it yeah it's so much comfier it's crazy how much it changes the whole interior of a truck some of you are probably curious you get both these pieces of course the hog rings and the pliers is about 180 bucks from lmc taking this panel off so i can swap the mirror out i got a couple few screws in here that just ain't going to come out so i'm just going to drill them i mean they put 37 of them in here i think it'll be just fine and then i realized i already put that one back on great it's got to come off again for the other mirror whoa that's really convenient i was digging around up in there trying to reach those bolts and felt some paper in there they're sitting this way look at that i don't know if these are the original for sale sign from years and years ago or what that one says lumina but there was some scotch tape over top but probably what happened is the feller had him up in the window of course and one slid down and disappeared so he threw another one in there got the old mirror off here that was quite the process and i'm not kidding yeah getting those nuts out on the inside one of them i just ended up zip zip you know we snipped her off got the new mirror unpacked i was hoping it was going to be the same tripod setup so i could reuse the holes in the door and it's not it's looking like i'm only going to be able to use one so now it's going to have holes for three sets of mirrors unfortunately but you know i don't really think it matters too much the original mirrors holes here holes back there and up here that's my favorite style mirror those big long ones up here like lawsuit has i really like those but basically we're gonna reuse that hole this will go in something like that that one will go there swingage outage like that mirage the nice thing is this kit came with these plastic inserts so i could just drill these out pop them in and then we don't have to monkey around getting your head and your shoulder and your hands in here and whatever else i ended up just vice gripping them and then just spinning them as fast as i can out here you know how to snip them out and it worked so i'll be honest fifty fillers she ain't the best looking mirror out there you know what i mean but we kept that kind of that look or that style going on the rig she blends right in nope it's got to get some scratches and stuff on it's way too shiny well put all this stuff back on and go wrassle on the other one i guess i almost forgot to put the new belt on but you know then i didn't so that's on last thing i want to do today is put some poverty caps on this thing now you can get re-pops or new ones if you want but i didn't want to go that route instead i found some old school ones that got quite a bit of patina on them and i think they're going to match the truck perfect they're not going to stick out like these new mirrors should blend in real nice oh yeah nice that's easy isn't it kind of funny fellers push comes to shove a guy needs something reliable dependable we always lean on these old rigs don't we at least i know i do for sure so don't be afraid to show yours you know a little bit of love from time to time this thing really brought it around in the looks department today and it's going to be a little bit more comfortable with that seat as well definitely scoot at the town once i you know get a license plate on it and insurance stuff like that worry about that some other time if you guys want to see a little bit more on this bleep bloop it down there we're just kind of taking our time with it brad definitely wants to hang on to this thing coming soon i'm going to teach him how to drive the stick in this good way to learn thanks guys for watching appreciate it very much we'll see you next time dump run sure why not [Music] [Music] you
