Cheap vs Expensive: Japanese Food Taste Test [Ft. Abroad in Japan]

gonna have a and B and we got to decide which one we think is the most expensive so it's a competition of which I will inevitably win well that's debatable first I don't please let's get our blindfold on oh also I don't think I said but we can't see that's like the big thing so let's try our first item of food okay so this is ice cream and this is a so weird I just had a spoon I can't I can't see I touched it and it's wet let's just eat it before I melt I don't even know where it's going I still it's just screaming that was a there was more like a liquid them nice so I didn't mention before the expensive ice cream we're trying is haagen-dazs and the cheaper one is a very popular ice from here from goodie cough mmm not as flavorful first one was chunkier richer chunkier for me because it was still like with no a was definitely the better one the haagen-dazs B was peasant one that's the side in three two one hey hey I use the expensive I also think we're we correct oh wait which one is this a well we're right what is wrong the cheap crappy Glico one was actually better than the haagen-dazs it's the one you won well they come Japan it's interesting when you see it because this one's got like like so in it yeah this one's actually the difference okay the next thing we're gonna be doing is chocolate yeah we're gonna be doing two different types of things are we doing two different types of Meiji chocolate one of them is the normal meaty and the other one is cool isn't everything from AG called virtually the chakra nature so you know it's good because it's quite there in front of it it should be easy the first one wasn't was anything but success but I'm confident this time I'm gonna nail it especially as I eat the chocolate donut right on the top right on the chocolate this experience if you like dark chocolate if you like bitter dark chocolate this is probably about it for you but I just go for that one let me take you out here okay so the next thing we're gonna be trying is strawberries these are from Tochigi and the kind of strawberry they are is a sky berries it's going bearing sounds like a poorly named Bob Dylan I'm called you yet again mr. sky very even though these are the same type of strawberry one of them is 300 yen and the other one is a thousand yen thrice the price but why no okay so this is a any story this is a strawberry sky bear was very good reducing yeah very sweet juicy taste of sky berry I've caught you yet again mr. sky very one list obviously one of them thrice the price but why do you know why what makes it special is it a case of size is it guessing because they like just pick out the best best ones but in Japan they sell like impressive looking through a premium rock you like the perfect watermelon all right bring on the next guy Barry okay okay the texture of this is harder it's different it's very smooth for me it's smoother and engage the suspect this one's really mushy for me I'm not saying okay we're gonna guess in three two one I think this is the most expensive what do you think I think it's because the story felt firmer in my hand and I felt more expensive strawberries on a swing I feel like they make them grow bigger which means there's more water in it so they're less sweet it dilutes the flavor me yeah that's what I feel and so it was more mushy and more smooth that that's why I went for the even there a was the tastiest strawberry I try to put myself yeah okay so this one is the 300 yen strawberry pack and this is the thousand yen strawberry pack this one's better are these sky berries I hate that watered-down hesitant until now well the cheapest foods been better yeah definitely actually in Japan you can live on a budget and get the best of the best if it's chalk lies cream on strawberries yes more food more food so the next thing we're trying is jelly one of them is from tuk on all fruits Paulo famous the selling really expensive fruit and the other one is just from the local convenience store and it's food jelly it's like a squeezy pack yes all right let's so let's go bitter oh great look great yeah which I've had neither before so yeah one that was that was done crap in a world do you like jelly normally I do i jelly everyday now what's really yeah it's quite cheap and it has proven it the one I get we don't get sky berries in Sendai ever okay let's find x1 so this is B let's give it a go okay talk to me it takes a bit more watered down yeah it's a lot sweeter as well easy all right and the most expensive is three to one I've been holding up for about three minutes hey he was the most definitely yeah it had a lot more flavor to it too bougie and of course this have to be right on this one yes yeah taste it all yeah I don't like the first one either no baby what's your favorite type of jelly if you're a jelly eater peach jelly yeah it's got massive piece of picture like that at least once a day the miracle of peach jelly so now we're gonna be doing beer now in Japan there's a type of beer called ha posture which has a low malt kind of content to it and it means that it's exempt from certain kind of alcoholic taxes which means it's about half the price of beer so whilst the can of beer whichever one it is is about 230 yen Apple shoes about 120 M it's quite popular with elderly folks who are poor ended allowance yeah in Japan it's the wife who controls the money and they don't want the husband blowing shitters I thought this one was gonna be quite hard for me cuz I do I can't really tell the difference between water beers sometimes I went to the Asahi Factory and do a taste test and I was really bad okay just gosh you know you don't know I'm in trouble now really all right are they you know I don't okay so we're picking the most expensive one the actual beer so gonna pick in three two one now wait so I got the wrong way right I did I did mean to pick up either oh yeah yeah again okay so picking the most expensive beer in three two one yeah what the heck is this our baby cam baby baby weekend so yeah hop oh shoot tastes like beer has been watered down yeah I kind of like it though I just honestly taste like fizzy Tiger water carbonated water was something wrong yeah the beer tastes really berry promise of beer is it not to taste to taste like beer my friends after work when we talked we used to get this because a lot cheaper back then on a teacher's salary you could get a lot more bang for your buck but I've drunk this at about two or three years who would who would actually drink this sighs how do you think I don't know if you're at a party and everyone else is drinking and you have another somebody's head up to my party with this I'd like get out Terry don't don't come to the party in us you cannot bring the big drinks maybe if you just want a taste test so I mean Japanese beers already pretty takes pretty watered down I couldn't so this is like take it to the extreme okay next one I'm gonna beat you yeah today I'm gonna beat you today I'm gonna be you to death the next time we're gonna be doing is different kinds of eel you unagi and I know you know here's the more expensive the longest time when I moved here I didn't eat eel cuz I just thought it looked and sounded horrible okay so let's give the first one a try is it come--as is it seen it's so big I can't get my Japan they marinate eel in soy sauce and sake of sugar a very nice sweet taste and the the ear that sells very juicy and they're tender and succulent that was good okay so here is B whatever it may be okay I think I know say in three two one hey why we would give the same thing no same brain fury roll wrong I was rough the reason I thought I was better was actually cuz the rice really yeah the rice was more tasted better on the first one and there it was more kind of sucker if it was just the rice I would have thought the second one because there was less of it and I'm gonna try that and besides the fish but because this one fell apart so easily I was like the cheese again again the cheapest ones better come on everybody we're still tied they're just too good at this or bad cuz yeah I'm getting to the lead I think you can feel it coming okay next one so the next one we're gonna be doing is different kinds of tuna we're gonna be doing Auto and to Totoro is very fancy yes medium medium I like tuna a lot it's my favorite kind of sushi well I always get and I always get to title and author also if I get this wrong or cry river of tears in shroud this table this is a please shake on it next one please okay alright ah it's so easy to tell me which is unfortunately even Joey do we know how to I drop my important point out Otero the fatty one is actually more expensive and to talk a good piece of altar was about 360 yen okay so we're tied right now so this is the last round to decide the winner fried egg very sweet isn't it yeah tell me Aki is very sweet omelette is one of the only things I can cook in a bit of an egg expert yeah I should go to nail this one okay egg in my mouth that's a bit difficult easy 3 2 1 B no wait yeah bees the expensive one really I said eh nope bollocks I mean the first one was very very sweet tasted stupidly sweet and I thought because this is cheap and it's in a horrible little package thing maybe they'll sweeten it up to give it some flavor some extra flavor right this takes is more like egg to me and I was like all the time I got yaki that I've had it nice as shops taste really like egg really I prefer the second one yeah that one was the more expensive one
