$800 TOKYO APARTMENT TOUR

[Music] hey guys welcome to the apartment tour it's finally here just wanted to give you a quick heads up before the apartment tour begins I have filmed this twice the first time that I filmed it something went wrong with my camera and everything was really blurry and I also filmed it on a rainy day so I'm gonna be using footage from the last time and this time that I filmed so there's gonna be different Lighting's different everything really because it was a rainy day now it's a really really hot day it's like 33 degrees today but you get to see the house both when it's sunny and when it's a rainy day and also if anyone here is new to the channel hi my name's Emma I make videos about my life here in Japan and also just a heads up everyone I've joined twitch so if you want to join in having a chat I do a little cooking things the last few streams I did I made some MSU and I tried lots of clear drinks from Japan I just do a bunch of front stuff and we can have a chat and it's is at the end of the video so yeah you'll get that at the end okay without further ado let's start the apartment tour now of course we have to start it the first place you enter into which is the game con now I'm not actually that excited to show you the game come because it looks kind of gross it's not the most beautiful looking gang car maybe one day it'll do something nice to it but you know it's just an entranceway it does the job so before I had like an extra cupboard to put shoes in but here the cupboard is built into the one it's very tall and skinny so in here we have our shoes and we also keep our keys and these little hooks and I also keep my huncle here which is basically like my signature so when a parcel comes I can just stamp it and and sign for it that way also our neighbors just left the building they'd been there for like eight years or something but we decided to take this up them this sits in the hallway and it has emergency supplies in it so al Anton radios and food everything that love in case of a disaster also it's really great to sit on that and put your shoes on so maybe one day I'll cover it with something nice because it's a bit strange but it's very useful okay so straight up from there if you turn this way that is the bathroom [Music] it's kind of inconvenient because the places that need the most work or at the start of the tour so yeah just know that this isn't this isn't quite done yet we have a mint green bath and cream tiles green tires [Music] how to much with this I said we and cream Green and cream are not meant to be together and I brought all my stuff from the old place so it's a dark blue curtain and a dark blue rug but I know that there's got to be a better colour palette out there also the dark blue means that you can't see anything while you shower it's so dark so if you guys have any ideas of what would match mint green and green let me know kind of want to avoid like a pink though maybe a blue like a light blue I don't know one thing that I do love about this place that wasn't at the last place hello is storage storage in the bathroom at the old place there was legitimately no storage in the bathroom nothing and it made life just a little bit more difficult so now we have this bathroom cabinet and we also have just installed behind the door this little guy it's not actually really touching with the crown let's see if I can show you so originally this just did not work it was uneven on flat floors and it was very uneven on the bathroom which is uneven already so I put together some little a very small wooden block that just picked up this corner and pushed it kind of like that corners not even touching the ground none of this is touching the ground except for the very back corner over there because I've done that it means the bottom isn't touching the ground and this it just yeah slots into place also because there's no ventilation in here it gets very hot in the summer so i'd like you to meet-- flappy he's our little fan so I got flappy the other day and he makes the experience of being in this room a lot better so it's just a nice little fan give me a little bit of breeze that fans that if you need air or if you need to air it out same with this candle you can light it if you need to if you need to clear the room if you know what I mean pooping so then if you go from the bathroom to in here this is Eric's room it's his area to play games study do whatever he wants it's his space so over there he phases games and studies and everything that's his main spot and then you we didn't I will come and sit on this couch and we'll turn the monitor around and we'll watch lately will be watching Full Metal Alchemist it's been so good love that series and over there is a very deep cupboard which holds all of our suitcases and spare stuff usually my tripods and everything as well one thing that I am very excited about in this room is a little model of Tokyo Tower he put a hamster okay then we go from Eric's room straight into I'd and put the dishes away and then we walk from Eric's room into the kitchen [Music] as you can see compared to my last place and especially the place before this kitchen is very spacious I can do many a lunch also today is a very rainy and cloudy and dark day that's why I'm using the ceiling lights right now because the light outside is just very gloomy very rainy it's really nice when I'm cooking to have actual light hitting me while I cook because you know cooking in the dark or with the fluorescent lighting or anything just doesn't feel good doesn't get you motivated so it's really nice to have actual daylight hitting me while I come over Jason stir my pots so first thing when you come in from over here is this corner which has right now it's a temporary thing where we're keeping all about dry foods and cans and stuff on top we have a drying rack and all that cutlery there over there we've got our knife rack that are come up which is a really good idea here we have the stove it's pretty old fashioned it works totally fine but it's I feel like no matter how much I could clean it it will never be actually clean there's all the sugars and spices at the top and tea and then we have a good sized sink very nicely sized sink and enough chopping space I just wanted to let you know that the white chopping board is still with us and it still fits very nicely over the sink we use the wooden cutting board for vegetables and we use the white one for meat if you're wondering about my style choices with the wood and the white cupboards it is a mistake I was going really well with the wood but then we ran out of wood stickers and the place that I got them from doesn't sell them anymore and so now I have to get different kinds of wood stickers that aren't going to match that enough to take it all off and redo the whole thing so that's why it stopped halfway and that's why I'm sad about it underneath there we keep all of our pots and pans and basically everything in it's all very jam-packed the place that I lived in before had a lot more storage in this place so we've gradually had to buy things to keep adding more storage to the place so we can actually put our stuff away so now we have enough places to put stuff away but every place is the disaster and over here we have our cute little black fridge it's small but it's enough for two people so that's well on top of the fridge we have all of our most used utensils we have some flowers that Eric bought me olala and we have a cactus in some kitchen roll we bought this cabinet ourselves it did not come with the place I got it off rocker 10 it was a bit difficult to put together but it works now the one thing is it's not earthquake proof yet but I did just order online some really small earthquake proof holders yeah we just keep all of our plates and cups there there's space for the microwave and down here we have rice cooker and kettle now if you're worried about the steam I've already talked to a lot of people about this but if you're worried about the steam it's okay because you can just pull this out the shelf pulls out so while we cook and boil things all the steam rises up doesn't affect anything when it's all done so yeah super convenient I love it I love it I love it and yet there is electricity that runs through the cabinet which attaches to the wall over there now right next to it is a beautiful table a beautiful dining table I'll show you what we use it for we use it for the little girl the beautiful girl that is must the hamster oh hello did you hear us talking about you hey how's it going how you doing come on you can do it come on all the way up yeah well Oh aren't you a good girl oh my goodness look at that good girl okay so this is the the third member of our family and I would love to use as a dining table anywhere but I think she's a bit more priority she always leaves a foot hanging off for some reason I never know why yes she's not supposed to be awake just yet so put her back to bed she's got a bit excited so she lives over here on the table and she comes out for a walk quite often we'll have her on the bed and he'll play with her and give her vegetables and stuff and she is great she's a really good hamster over in the corner we just have all of the cleaning supplies right now because I don't know where to put them so vacuum broom all that kind of stuff and in front of it we have a very straggly monstera which I really need to repot but I haven't found the time to get a bigger pot I don't know if I can truly show you how much space there is but it's quite spacious it's really nice and there's even storage up there it's just a good time I love this room so much so then you move from the kitchen into the bedroom [Music] thankfully we just got our mattress in before we were sleeping on a very very thin mattress topper on the floor because we had no other bed and it is such a relief to be able to sleep on a mattress it feels so good now a lot of people might have a problem with sleeping on a mattress on the floor or wonder if it's like an actual thing that maybe Japanese people do it's not the thing is there's a bed frame that I want so so badly but it is very expensive so I'm just saving up for it at the moment by the way the kitchen and the bedroom are separated by these wooden sliding doors so when we want to have some privacy in there or if we want to turn on the air-conditioning we just slide them across and it's all sealed off so we just put up my tapestry it's a little bit short this is the medium size from society6 tapestry but they do do bigger sizes but I don't want to have to buy another one so this is where we sleep and it's so nice because I love waking up next to sunshine and this place has two giant windows to this constantly light filtering in which is just awesome except for today because it's a bit rainy and this is my work area I ordered the desk online again from Rakatan but it was so short especially with the desk drawers I couldn't cross my legs I couldn't do anything it was just flat against me so we went out and we bought these little cork blocks which has got four of those blocks and propped it up and now it's the perfect height for me underneath is my chest of drawers from the old place which I got from a secondhand store and I just keep you know my makeup and it's a bit of a mess but you get the idea so in the morning I can just sit here and do my makeup and watch something on you do whatever and this is where I do all my work and Japanese isn't this drawer and now I can finally see the sky while I edit it's so nice on a beautiful clear day because you can just see all the clouds rolling by but again it's very rainy today so that's kind of also next my desk is my ficus I think it's happy when I first got it it lost a million leaves and you know they're very fussy so I kind of expected it but it seems to be okay now it seems to be growing in and doing okay so fingers crossed I really want him to survive and just get big and beautiful so outside we have the washing machine it's quite common in Japan to have your washing machine outside so it's very easy we can just take it straight from there and hang it up on our pole so it's very quick and so much easier than taking it to the rooftop in the last place also I have this little guy here he's been grown having a good time enjoying being outside it's nice have the other side of the balcony it's a little bit more of a mess all that stuff up there I don't know what to do with probably good chests or something for out here do you guys remember beefy he lives on I saved a cutting even though he definitely did die there was one healthy branch so I decided to try and propagate it and look he's growing he's so much happier he definitely has grown more leaves since he's been here so he's getting more Sun and he's so much happier than last time so say hello to beefy to I have a bunch of plants here but I'm also growing tomatoes at the moment but it feels good to have enough sunlight to be able to have really healthy plants okay that's it that's the tour that's the tour of a new house it still feels really great being here I loved the neighborhood more than I can tell you it's just such a great place mr. Vaman is so spacious and it gives me more freedom I feel the amount of sunlight we get just gives me so much energy in life and it feels so good and yeah Eric and I really happy here sharing the space and living with each other and enjoying each other's company okay so for details each month we are paying eighty-three thousand yen in rent so split evenly that's forty one thousand five hundred yen each which to me my brain is like four hundred and fifteen dollars which a month is really good for this sized place I love it so much I think it's perfect for two people it's just enough space with this apartment it's the same agency that I went through for my last apartment so the moving was so easy that's why we can move in a week or week and a half it was such an easy process unlike a lot of experiences that you can have in Japan when moving and yeah I'm still not living in the center of Tokyo or anything I'm still living just a little bit out of the busyness which suits me so well you know what I'm having the best time here it's so nice and things are just going on the right track if you enjoyed this video and you want to keep up with my adventures I have Instagram Twitter and twitch all of them are Tokioka travel at weight not Twitter that's tokidoki MO but yeah if you want to go follow me in them and hang out baby cool thank you so much for watching if you enjoyed this video please give it a thumbs up leave a comment down below or hit subscribe if you want to see more videos like this well not like this I hopefully not like this for a while cuz I don't want to move too soon anyway thanks for watching and I'll see you guys in the next video John [Music]
