can you save money and backpacking gear and still get decent quality I'm gonna take a look at five things for backpacking that can actually help your budget that's next hey guys Chris here okay so today I got some budget items I know there's a lot going on in the world right now we got the kovat 19 that's been circling the entire planet and it's a very uncertain times for a lot of people right now myself included and some of us many of us most of us are hoping the same a few dollars wherever we can save a few bucks that's what I'm going to be that's what I'm doing in this video what I've got is some backpacking gear that I'm looking at that it's going to help me okay so for number one the first thing that you're doing is you're backpacking you're done for the day you get your tent set up and you want to do a side excursion what do you do is you bring your full pack I don't want to bring my full pack I would rather bring something like this this is the Osprey ultralight stuff pack look at this thing it's tiny this is something I know we'd probably put on his backpack it looks like a little miniature backpack if this is not the pack this is what it looks like packed up this thing collapses down so small it's 3.0 2 ounces and even the stuff sack is built into it at the top here I like that but this is a great alternative to bring with you when you're traveling or backpacking so you got something extra to carry your gear in it this little pack is 18 litres 1098 cubic inches it's 17 inches long by 9 inches wide 3.0 4 ounces this is actually waterproof and ripstop nylon so it's very strong material it looks kind of flimsy but it's very strong the ultralight stuff pack has a single water bottle compartment on the side here it would be nice if they added one to the other side they just have one I don't know why they didn't do that I would have just added another one nobody would have complained about that but it does have a compartment at the top here zipper and there you go sunglasses wallet phone things like that would go here and the main compartment dual looped zippers where they are dual look zippers on that as well main compartment opens up and it's fairly simple but this will pack a lot of gear get your rain jacket in there put some snacks and food in there your map and whatever else you may need from your side extreme day trip but I really like this pack it pulls up really well and little hanger right there cushioned shoulder straps right there very simple no belt on it no sternum strap folds up easily actually let me do that really quickly the pack the packable part is right here in this pocket so it's built in I like that fold this right here in half like you're folding a taco and roll it up and you kind of got to work it in here like that I think I'm gonna do this there we go there we go and you pull the little top flap over and attach it to the velcro patch right there you are back in business $35 for this I've seen it on the Osprey website just today I don't know if it's going to be there next week $25 so that's actually a pretty good price for that a cheap alternative would be the zom-- aki this is on Amazon as well that is a packable daypack $15.99 so that is almost half the price of the other one this is a Baker pack and it weighs there we go it weighs more for eight point eight ounces it is the same size so I believe it's the same leaders and it is about 17 by 9 as well very it's the same concept it's the same concept except this one's just lighter and smaller and a little bit more expensive so so there you go there's your cheap alternative save a few bucks here if you want that so get yourself a packable collapsible portable day pack you won't regret it okay so when I go backpacking I don't have bush crafting skills where I use flint and steel to make fire and I don't rub sticks together or do anything I usually use waterproof matches or a lighter of some kind I recently got an electronic lighter this is called the Explorer check that out that's the Explorer dual arc electronic lighter I like that it's got this cap on it and this keeps it waterproof it is wind proof and let me show you how this thing works it's got two dual arcs of electricity look at that that go across fit like that and this is rechargeable I love that here's the rechargeable port the retarding port the charging port and the charging port microUSB right there this came in at $14 Amazon I really like that weighs 5 grams comes with the lanyard here this will disconnect if you don't want it around your neck you can go like that and this is takes about two hours to charge it a cheap alternative to this would be a bit lighter you can get a five pack of Bicks on Amazon for eight dollars this is $14 so you're saving about half of that and actually I would take one of those mix and add it to this and my wind proof matches that is my fire started kids so so I'm getting for myself to do a lark electronic later by Explorer as we're checking out I like that okay so this last fall I got a sleeping pad it was the Nemo tensor regular wide which is 72 by 25 19 bounces packs down really nice and small and a hundred and seventy-five dollars currently I got mine for 159 I thought that's a little expensive for a sleep pad it's a really good sleep pad though I really like this about three inches thick when it's inflated super comfortable I love the extra wide I'm a side sleeper I thought is there a pad that is comparable but is more affordable and yeah I found it this is what I found the climate static be sleep pad this thing is really comfortable eighteen point seven ounces 23 by 72 very comparable to the white here it's only two inches narrower and this is two point five two and a half inches thick I got this for $55 isn't that awesome I currently saw it today I saw it I don't know about tomorrow next week or next month but it was on sale as an Amazon best seller for 33 bucks that's that's right you heard me 33 bucks for this Wow 175 33 and super comparable as far as lightweight packs down very affordable price and great quality I mean it does what it's supposed to do it has these chambers on it when you first roll it out you can't even see those that that's the static v that's the V right there and you roll that out it's just smooth and flat and you put 10 to 15 breaths into it and these chambers take form and there's your pad it inflates very quickly is 10 to 15 breasts you could probably do it in about two minutes or less there's a valve on it I love this valve it's about this big and it says inflate and then it pivots over on the side there's these points and it can pivot and then it says deflate so when you have an inflate you blow into it the air does not come back out as you go back up to take your next breath right that's just like two steps forward one step backward or whatever and then when you go to deflate you flip it over and now all the air is only coming out of it brilliant design I love it I'm really happy with this you can't go wrong with the price static fee by climate that's a really nice sleeve pad that I'm recommending that one I am really glad I picked it up for myself so okay guys when I walk backpack and I like my camp cookware to be as small as possible and the best way I found to do that for me is to go with the sea2summit X mug and the X Bowl both are collapsible I really I love that they nest inside of each other look at that isn't that great and nest right inside it does takes up hardly any room and this mug works really great with my coffee system my GSI ultra Lite coffee set up there this is 2.7 ounces it came in at fifteen dollars and fifty cents there is markings on the inside of the mug here four cups like two and a half cups and this is dishwasher safe microwave friendly if you're gonna use it at home but I love these they they're great the Boyar comes in at two point eight ounces it's eighteen dollars and this is a food grade material BPA free which is very helpful to know because the chemical that could be in the plastic could get in the food cooking inside you but these are I like these very stable very hard bottom on that I like that a lot and you can tell I like to I like to collapse them down alakazoo Alakazam presto yeah literally presto so get yourself a bowl and a mug a mug and even more affordable alternative would be to get the me fan bowls and mugs on Amazon I believe with the bowls you get two of them with lids for $20 and then you can also get the four cups and they also come with lids you get a set of cups for $11.99 amazon's choice so check that out if you're interested in that okay so you're backpacking and you want to clean up wash your hands wash your face and maybe even hop on the lake in come out and dry off how do you do that do people like user t-shirts to use your socks or something you don't want to bring a beach towel right so what I found was the rain leaf microfiber towel look at that isn't that awesome this is a very lightweight packable towel this comes in multiple sizes I got the 12 by 24 it also comes in 20 by 48 24 by 48 and a 72 by 40 that's like blanket almost this is pretty awesome packs down small open this thing up and now you have a very soft microfiber towel antibacterial which means if it gets wet it won't smell bad and it won't hold microbes in it it does have a nice clip here to clip on the outside of your backpack or clip on to a tree or a clothesline right there this thing is super absorbent I've read a lot of reviews on this these towels by rain leaf are amazingly orbit and what you do is you patch yourself down with it when you're when you're drying off you don't rub it in you just Pat yourself down and this will be this will quick dry very fast for you and it's pretty amazing comes in multiple colors about six to six different colors this particular size was $8.99 that may seem expensive but for a towel that you can bring and use multiple times I think that's very well worth it like I said I'm gonna get the larger size and see how that works for me but I so far I really like this again it packs down very small comes in a nice little little case here this looks like a beach bag for like I know that's knit I'm on a gnome thing tonight I don't know if gnomes go you know surfing or anything I dunno they ski no ski I'm good I guarantee you that microfiber towel it's it's you got to have something and look at that thing it it's hardly any room there no I like I said this is a smaller one so anyways get yourself a microfiber towel so a more affordable option on Amazon would be the camp coos on microfiber towel at $6.99 on up based on the different sizes they do have different sizes just like the Rain leaf it also has some different colors so that could be an option to work with as well okay guys I hope that was helpful maybe you'll save a few bucks if you like when I do hit like and subscribe I really appreciate you guys watching my shows and my channel I'm having a lot of fun doing this and I just love to do [Music] and there's always keep hiking and we'll see you next time
