be coming this morning to read our day's lesson and we have two lessons this morning taken from the book of second corinthians chapter 4 verse 17 and verse 18 then we'll jump over to revelations 21 from verse 1 to verse 4 this morning in jesus name ii corinthians 4 verse 17 to 18 and revelations 21 verses 1 to 4 in jesus name bless the lord beloved our scripture reading comes to us this morning from second corinthians chapter 4 17 to 18 and uh reading your hearing for all light affliction which is bought for a moment work it for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory while we look not at the things which are seen but at the things which are not seen for the things which are seen are temporal but the things which are not seen are eternal revelations revelations 21 verses 1 to 4 i saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away and there was no more sea and i john saw the holy city new jerusalem coming down from god out of heaven prepared as a bride adorned for her husband and i heard a great voice out of heaven saying behold the tabernacle of god is with men and he will dwell with them and they shall be his people and god himself shall be with them and be their god and god shall wipe away all the tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death neither sorrow nor crying neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away air ended a portion of god's holy word hallelujah thank you jesus this morning we're going to be singing him number 86 verse 1 2 on the chorus is your all on the altar we're going to be asking just to pray for us this morning in the name of jesus again you have longed for sweet peace and for faith to increase and have earned history for everyone to pray many persons that are of weak or went through something and they are here this morning to give god praise because they are grateful but this morning i am here i want to share quickly before we start our prayers and worship last week sunday i left church the first service and i left to attend an event up by papine and while i was driving last week beloved going up garden town going up i'm about four bus in a vehicle and i was driving out of nowhere the entire left side of the banking caved on the vehicle i started to push the vehicle off the road i mean some big boulders big maybe like the speaker box is here beloved and when i stopped for a second and i saw that the entire vehicle was wrecked the windscreen the side mirrors the back glass was totally smashed out the doors could not be opened and i said to myself i could have been dead but this morning i am in the house of the lord and i said god i want to give you everything because sometimes the singer tomorrow is promised and next week is promised but guess what god is in control and though we are here and we don't understand the challenges i want to look for a greater hope this morning because we are singing about that city of mount zion we have a heavenly methodist one that we want to sing because god is in control on the top of mount zion is our city this morning hallelujah is is [Applause] oh hey [Music] what that god will just direct even guide him and the voters am i talking to somebody here because the america is so influential in throughout the world so if things go wrong there then it will spill over into other countries of the world so we want to pray that god will guide them and that is will be done am i talking to somebody praise the lord so we thank god for what he's doing so i will come and our nation as we are told that for the next three days we'll be having inclement weather which will be very severe it's written as i speak when i pray that god will last week we had a tragedy over in the same rural saint andrew where a father and his daughter died at the moment in a mudslide also we had a a well-known praise god uh personality in jamaica lost his life on the beach in treasure beach amen last week and sad to see but his body was eaten by sharks and crocodiles we want you just to remember those families this morning as they grieve the loss of their loved ones sister moncrief we are praying that god will bless you and strengthen you mr nutrition amen we are praying for you and your family also that god will sustain you as you go through your period of bereavement and god bless the time is far spent yes i know you have been you you have come to expect for the last 20 uh nine years or so you're passed to the preach on the first sunday and today is first sunday and i know you came expecting me to preach uh the truth is i wanted to preach uh i had a word in fact i have the word for a couple weeks now but for the last three weeks or so i've been having a terrible hair infection my left hair has been infected and my sinus are draining heavily and i went to the doctor and and the doctor gave me some hair drops and i thought those would work and they would not so i went back last week and uh she gave me some strong antibiotics to take and i must say they're feeling better praise god it's been better now as i stand before you praise the lord um so i crave your prayers amen i i'm so sorry i can't preach to you today as it's my custom the first sunday but i know you'd understand and you'll be praying for me praise the lord amen i have been at home since since tuesday and i left the house on on on yesterday to do a wedding i'm waiting outside of stone hill which i was i was committed to i got him i went back even into ben but i want to thank god that i hope this morning when it comes to sunday nothing stops me i just love to be in god's house praise god thank you missionary for your for your counsel and for your instructions praise the lord god bless you awesome god who is worthy to be praised we're giving thanks for the first day of a new week the first day of a new month that's a lot to give god thanks for truth is many of us may not would have believed to see the month of november but guess what we're here this morning and for that we give god praise hallelujah thomas first went hallelujah so god bless you may be seated hallelujah the lesson which was read it came to us from second corinthians chapter four which uh we read from verse 17 through to 18 and we read also from revelation chapter 21 reading from verse one through to four i will not read again because of time but hallelujah this morning i would like to speak to you on the topic i write today hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah a brighter day hallelujah this morning when i realized the weather i was saying god god god but mr dunbar a couple weeks ago we were speaking and arrested sir brother mark you better preach that word yeah yeah inaudib but i didn't know that i'd be the property this morning but nonetheless i always try to have a word prepared just because these days i don't know the lead of the bishop is just uncertain but i always try to make myself available so this morning i speak to you the theme of bright today it speaks coming up their speak it speaks to a comparison between two things as you know the brighter it is an adjective in the comparative degree so it's being compared to one thing or another now so therefore um the two days perhaps today the physical day as it is today is being compared to another day which is to come this theme also speaks to one of hope that things will get better that things will get better hallelujah and also speaks to one of faith one of faith because if you are anticipating a brighter day faith has to be present hallelujah hallelujah now in meteorology which is a branch of weather forecasting the meteorologist is the individual which studies the weather and gives daily forecasts of what the weather will be like for a day or even for an extended period of time thank you very much hallelujah now as we look in the natural so it is in the spiritual but there is a difference in the physical aspect of the weather hallelujah man can project that it will be ready to be sunny as it is now we are experiencing inclement weather hallelujah we speak so that we will experience extensive extensive rather rainfall for a couple of days but hallelujah but as it is in on the other end of the spiritual aspect hallelujah we look even though we are experiencing no hallelujah maybe a gloomy situation faith tells us that our brighter day is coming hallelujah and that that's what we are going through it will not last if we look around us beloved everything seems to be gloomy and seem dismal hallelujah we look at the economy hallelujah hallelujah it is projected to shrink by x amount percentage and we have the financial advisors who are advising us to save and to put away stuff for the long haul hallelujah but beloved hallelujah if we look also at the sliding dollar the dollar is sliding so quickly hallelujah we look at education hallelujah oh god schools can be in session because of what this call this coronavirus hallelujah so there first thing seems to be gloomy and dismal hallelujah i heard the news last week we say that even remittances very soon will become a problem it will shrink hallelujah because the entire world is being plagued by this coronavirus so therefore everyone is is snatching up their funds for the rainy day for the future is so uncertain hallelujah we look at the l sector hallelujah no matter how they try there is always under pressure always as big hallelujah sad to say i don't think it things may improve but it will not get better to really facilitate and to accommodate the impact of the jamaican society hallelujah as it relates to sickness hallelujah so beloved many are afflicted in one way or another hallelujah so therefore in 2nd corinthians chapter 4 reading from verse 7 to 18 paul made mention hallelujah the preceding verses he spoke about the different topics different scenarios but when it reached verse 17 he spoke about the light affection the light affliction beloved the light affliction hallelujah and this light of fiction he speaks to try us he speaks the pain that we currently bear at that time hallelujah paul described all the suffering that he went through as light beloved what do you know about saint paul he was a brilliant man but hallelujah he suffered a lot beloved he was thrown in prison he was beaten hallelujah hallelujah he was stoned hallelujah he was in paris amongst paul's veteran he was in paris of his old countrymen he called a nakedness he was also he also angered and thirst i'm saying this to say that all that paul has been true he classified them as light affliction beloved he was shipwrecked i don't know if you know about being on the sea and being shipwrecked being prison being beaten and all that he went through he classified him as light affliction when i read the 11th and i when i was preparing i was saying myself why am i doing this beloved why am i reading and and i said to myself i said change into the natural if you go to school and you're preparing for something you can't just read the notes the teacher gave you have to read wide so i went and i look at the different commentaries and i'm not a scholar but i try to pick out what makes sense and all that and it says that paul here all that he went through he classified this affliction as light as light and these were the physical affliction if you mention the spiritual affliction and beloved and i'm saying this to say that why would paul refer to all that eventually as light affliction and not as heavy if you're thrown in prison if you are beaten if you are being shipwrecked if you are stolen all these are evil stuff but to paul he said these are light afflictions hallelujah these are physical suffering it didn't even mention the spiritual hallelujah so so paul said our affliction cannot be compared to the eternal weight of glory so two things are at play there the light affliction and eternal weight of glory hallelujah so therefore beloved whatever we are going through now let's look at saint paul it's nothing compared to what paul went through hallelujah i'm sure you've never been beaten with whips i'm sure you're gonna be thrown in prison having you you have never experienced shipwrecked hallelujah but paul called him as light affliction is there a hallelujah in the house so now that we go through our trials our tests i really want to take my time i really want to take my time hallelujah we go through our pain hallelujah some so many of us are unemployed so many predator and hallelujah are uncertain about what the future holds but i stopped this morning to say to somebody do not focus so much on your light affliction this morning because if you focus so much on your light affliction hallelujah hallelujah you're gonna become stressed you're gonna come so depressed and lebron you can't say anything you can say anything you don't know like what i know hallelujah or trust me very hallelujah i tested me they're very i remember they're very but i stopped by to say this morning all that we are going through beloved they are light afflictions if you get the skill once i light affliction the other side the weight of glory you have to beloved be able to maintain the suffering because as a child of god beloved we must suffer but if we suffer with him we shall be glorified together with him hallelujah raise your hand and say hallelujah hallelujah our affliction is light compared to what paul and jesus went through this light our affliction is light compared to the blessings we received hallelujah our affliction is light comparing to what others go through this morning somebody hallelujah may be experiencing a cloudy condition i don't know your circumstances i don't care to know them but i will pray for you this morning don't look at the cloud this morning because behind every dark cloud there is a silver lining as you keep looking at the cloud you're gonna become so cumbered so depressive but this morning stop the warrior stop the crying even if it's rain this morning beloved if it rains for three consecutive week every day every night if the rapture does not happen i guarantee you the sun must come out again the sun will come out to shine so guess what hallelujah all that we are going to believe is what for a moment this one for a moment it must come to win and i remember growing up our start this year courage my brother do not stumble though the path be darkest night there is a star to guide the humble trust in god and to the right hallelujah hallelujah we're going through our affliction but what does faith tells us what does your faith tell you what does your faith shows you we have to have faith living in jesus hallelujah and i stopped by to tell somebody this morning that glory is tied to suffering glory it is tied to suffering hallelujah and i pause here to really look at this this quote it says affliction is not something to be endured in order to reach glory affliction is not something to be endured in order to reach glory it is the very process which brings glory it is a process that brings glory we oftentimes sing a song a persecution you must bear shreds and crosses in a way but the utter the hotter the better the sweeter the victory through travail comes birth and i look at the expectant
