own minister janet brown to pray the morning's prayer in the name of jesus hallelujah we want to agree as we tear down the strongholds hallelujah as we come against every plot of the enemy in the name of jesus we come in authority in the name of jesus and we agree jesus hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah thank you lord jesus father we give you thanks today we glorify your name hallelujah we honor your god because of who you are you are the almighty god you are great and great to be praised you are the only wise god the one and only contentate oh god there is no like you today and so we give you glory and honor we want to thank you today for your goodness and your grace we want to thank you god for your mercies towards us we want to thank you god for the gift of life thank you god that you have been our rock thank you lord that have been a refuge thank you that you have been our strength thank you that you have been a hiding place oh god there is none like you heaven is your throne this morning and earth is your footstool the heavens declare your glory and the ferment shows your handiwork angels bow before you have and earth adore you you are the mighty god we serve and so today we give you glory we give you honor we give you praise oh god as i come to you today god i pray may blood all my transgression forgive us from all our sins and our trespasses creating me a clean heart renewal right spirit god we all before you we're looking today for a blessing oh god you are blessed in this house oh god so we worship you god we cannot do nothing without you we thought you today our life would be worthless living without you god would be nothing and without your father would be drifting like a ship without a sail and so we thank you for mercy we thank you for pardon today we thank you for peace lord we thank you for purification we thank you god for sanctification hallelujah thank you god that when you were nothing oh god you saw us and you brought us into this marvel sight of salvation and we cried about father today god we place a service in your hand we pray god you may come though in a mighty way oh i speak to our hearts today oh god touch those who are sick today in the name of jesus christ of nazareth because god you're a healer god you said in your word he was wounded for our transgression he was bruised with our iniquity the chastisement of our peace is upon you and by us tribes were healed so today we reach out lord to those who are sick and afflicted mother brown today jesus mother god hallelujah mother nukes in the name of jesus christ of nazareth we presented some more material before you one more time oh god you're a god who never failed your god will never change you cannot lie your word remains the same oh god and today god will today for backsliders loyalty may bring them back to the fall before it's too late because not your will that any should perish but allah should come unto repentance god we pray for a new converse that you may keep them in your will cover them all god and their blood in the name of jesus christ of nazareth oh god the enemy is mad he's trying to deceive who we can but today help us to stand up and to be strong help us to stand up as true soldiers oh god that was standing is liberty of god we are with you upset us free father jesus and not to be again entirely yoke of bandage god we give your glory today we give you praise in the name of jesus we pray for those who are seeking the holy ghost that we may feel somebody today help lord that says your word go forth somebody will cry out i hallelujah and we all say in the name of jesus in the name of jesus praise god this morning our scripture reading will be done by sister beverly thompson the name of jesus it will be taken from psalm 62 it will be reading the entire chapter in the name of jesus hallelujah hallelujah praise god praise the lord and i'll begin our lesson is taken from psalms 62 reading from verse 1 to 12 praise god and i'll begin truly my soul waited upon god from him commit my salvation he only is my rock and my salvation is my defense i shall not be greatly moved how long will he imagine mischief against a man he shall be slain all of you as a bowing wall shall he be and as a torturing fence they only consult to cast him down from his excellency they delight in lies they blessed with their mouth but they curse inwardly my soul weighed thou only upon god for my expectation is from him he only is my rock and my salvation is my defense i shall not be moved in god is my salvation and my glory the rock of my strength and my refuge is in god trust in him at all times he people pour out your heart before him god is a refuge for us surely men of low degree are vanity and men of high degree are a lie to be laid in the balance they are all together lighter than vanity trust not in oppression and become not vain in robbery if riches increase set not your heart upon them god had spoken once twice have i heard this that power belong it unto god twelve and last also unto thee oh lord belong belong at mercy for though renderous to every man according to his work praise god i read verse 11 god has spoken once twice have i heard this that power belong it unto god you're the portion of god's holy word hallelujah we serve a powerful god i hear sister dejan is not feeling well on the outside we stretch our hands in the name of jesus brother carlton i ask you to go right now in the name of jesus and we call forth angels right now ministering angels right now to stand guard in the name of jesus we come against every plot of the enemy right now in the name of jesus and we speak healing and we tear down every plan of the enemy and it is well in the name of jesus we come against every distraction worship and we just want to give god all the glory because he's awesome and there is nothing too hard for god to do and in spite of all that we're going through we are going on right on because we forever my soul would have been lost praise god i know my story and i know where i'm coming from so i got to give god the glory because i am sure if it wasn't for jesus one like me maybe would have been dead i would not be standing here before you so i have to give god the glory praise god today i extend greetings to our bishop and his wife in the name of jesus i bless them as they continue to serve us as they celebrate their their 32nd pastoral anniversary praise god can you just clap your hands that's a long time to be dedicated to serving god's people praise god i want to create by extension still bishop's family the bronze family the siblings the children the grandchildren i know they're going through a rough time with grandma in the hospital but i pray because god still heals in the sanctuary but i want to thank everyone uh for your prayers for the call for the texts that have gone out uh from for myself but even more so for my wife uh missionary kathy admin sister nivea chambers and the chambers family it uh it's been a difficult period bless god the last couple years but especially the last month or so having lost uh my in my mother-in-law their their mother uh but we had a very good service last week weekend on the friday i i know that a lot of you are tuned in and the family um really appreciated the support from bishop brown uh he was away but he did give his trench what the period sent help minister andre was also there we got a lot of calls a lot of text a lot of prayers and so we want to express appreciation to our church family and for all those who actually came and supported as well some even found their way up in the late night sister prudence the late night of their admission and sister moncrief also coming in to help uh the family really really appreciated the the kind a fifteenth and words and encouragement and some gave even when you weren't looking for it uh to come god bless you god bless you all in jesus name it's a tough time beloved and even as we go through these uh period we want to have people and to see familiar faces around to bring that kind of support but i'm so glad that i'm in the house of the lord today home watching and my youngest son hallelujah my oldest son is in the sanctuary today with us greet you all once more in the powerful name of jesus now the scripture before us today is psalm 62 and i am going to read a few verses in your hearing truly my soul waiteth upon god from him cometh my salvation he only is my rock and my salvation he is my defense i shall not greatly be moved how long god has spoken once twice have i heard this that power belongeth unto god hallelujah hallelujah now the scripture before us beloved i tried to find a background for it because if you know most of the psalms written by david has a background scripture where it described what was happening to him at the time when he wrote that particular psalm but i could not find anything on psalm 62 but reading it further i discovered that david's whole life was based on this psalm because david based his entire life on trusting god and if you look if you continue to read this psalm you will realize that the overarching theme of the psalm is trusting in god now david was the eighth son of jesse and in that time in that era where david lived being the last son meant that you had to be the shepherd you had to keep the sheep in the family so at some point all of jesse's sons had to keep the sheep but david was the last son and it looks like jesse decided that that's it i don't want any more children so david was stuck being the shepherd now the shepherd in those days had a bad connotation to it people looked down on shepherds so if you were a shepherd in those days people would scorn you people would mock you people would jeer you and that was some of the things that david went through as a young boy growing into his probably adult uh age but if you look back in the days of abraham beloved when abraham and moses and the first set of israelites were around shepherding was a prestigious title it was a noble hallelujah job it was it would probably compared to know someone dressing in their jacket and tie and their three-piece suit going to work in a c-level position with a lot of benefits hallelujah will probably live off your benefits only and not touch your base salary right elder admin hallelujah that was the that was what shepherding was compared to back in there in in those days but beloved when this profession started to dwindle was when the children of israel went into egypt when joseph was in egypt he he he was in a high position but when the famine hit and the joseph's brothers and the people of israel had to migrate into egypt joseph in the last in the 46th psalm the last verse said to his brothers i'm glad that you're here but don't let the egyptians know that you are shepherds because here they see a shepherd as an abomination hallelujah hallelujah and so when the children of israel lived with the egyptians eventually they took on the all the teachings and the sayings of the egyptians and so they started to see a job that was referred to as noble in their father's time as a job that was compared to wallowing with pigs it was the worst in their eyes eventually and so beloved we find that they they they changed completely from what they used to do to what they are doing now hallelujah because of the switch they made because of assimilating with egypt because they started to walk with the egyptians they took on what the egyptians used to do hallelujah hallelujah as christians beloved we have to be careful how we walk we have to be careful the things we take on from the world hallelujah i mean they would say hallelujah they sing too loud i can't bother with them hallelujah i can't bother with their natural here i can't bother with the brothers wearing their pants on their waist i can't bother with the sisters and their skirts or dresses boxing their ankles i can't bother with that hallelujah but that hallelujah was the shepherding and the nobility of shepherding was what really identified the israelites it was a it was an identity for them and they switched from what used to identify them hallelujah into something that they were basically strangers in they started to look down on the things that made them who they are the things that fed them they looked down on shepherding hallelujah and so beloved we have to be careful as children of god that we don't hallelujah mix hallelujah and lose our identity hallelujah i mean beloved we live in the world we have to do things of the world we have to work hallelujah we have to do certain things but we hallelujah have to be careful how we mix hallelujah ourselves and lose our identities we have to be careful how we take on the things of the world and lose what made us apostolics hallelujah we have to be careful how hallelujah we approach these things beloved and so the children of israel lost hallelujah that specific things about thing about them and so when david took up shepherding he was looked down upon he was corned hallelujah there was nothing he could do right oh this little shepherd boy or who him what is he doing you're nothing but a shepherd boy hallelujah and so being the eighth son and being relegated to that of a shepherd hallelujah david had to build a relationship with god david had to learn how to trust god and so in this in this psalm we see where david was showing hallelujah and we'll be getting into it further hallelujah but david showed hallelujah how hallelujah he trusted god now sometime in his journey the israelites were in war with with gas and if you know goliath goliath is from gath hallelujah and goliath was the strongest nine foot nine hallelujah he has a he had a uh uh a beam a spear almost six feet hallelujah i mean everything about goliath was intimidating hallelujah the armies of israel was shaking in their boots because they could did not want to encounter this man called goliath hallelujah and so david stepped up hallelujah and said hey who is this uncircumcised philistine that defies the armies of god hallelujah at this point david took something that he was used to david took something that was a foundation for him as a shepherd hallelujah that was his slingshot hallelujah and the rock hallelujah which was jesus but we'll get into that he took up hallelujah some stones and went after goliath and said who are you to defy the armies of god and he used one stone to get rid of this giant cut off him head with him own sword hallelujah beloved no you couldn't do this if you didn't have a relationship david could not do this if he didn't have a relationship based on trust with the lord hallelujah and so as i go into this into the scripture you will see where his trust how he described his trust with god he trusted god enough to confront goliath hallelujah until david reached a point in his life hallelujah where he was just functioning he was just functioning and functioning does not necessarily mean that you are fully functional david was a king but he was hiding from his son functioning as a king hiding from his son functioning as a king despised by his wife i saw a picture on social media the other day where it had a title when someone asked me how i am i say i'm functioning and when you look at the picture it was a broken toilet fixture the sink the face base and it was broken the only thing that was connected to it was the the thing but it was broken the pipe was there the sink was there but the rest of the bathroom fixture was broken it could work it could function but it was not fully functional hallelujah and david reached this point in his life i mean if you went to that sink to brush your teeth majority of the water would spill on the ground but some water would go in the in the sink not fully functional but functioning so david reached a point in his life where he wasn't fully functional because of the things he was going through but he was still functioning in the position that he was in hallelujah as saints beloved sometimes we meet in that situation where we are functioning in the house of god but we are not fully functional we are sitting on the prayers team we are singing but we are not fully functional we are playing the music but we are not fully functional we are preaching but we are not fully functional hallelujah but how did david counter this david increased his faith and his trust in god hallelujah hallelujah and so eventually through god's deliverance he became fully functional hallelujah and it is so beloved if we find ourselves in the house just functioning troubled in our minds hallelujah but functioning hallelujah then we can know of a surety that if we put or trust in god that he will deliver us and he will make us into the functioning person that we ought to be hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah his father-in-law tried to kill him saul hallelujah wanted to kill him at that point he was just a best friend of his son jonathan he wanted to kill him because the people preferred david over him so he wanted to kill him his own wife at one time mikhail saul's daughter laughed at him despised him because david was working for the lord they were bringing the ark of the lord from the house of obedient to the city of david and david realized that he had to do something to entice god and the only thing he could think of was something he was good at dancing and david danced for the lord as a king david danced his clothes off hallelujah hallelujah and his wife said why is this man doing belittling himself he's a king what is he doing but she didn't understand what david was going through she didn't understand that david had to do something to entice god so that god could deliver him hallelujah sometimes you have to get radical sometimes you have to come out of the norm and do something else so that you can get your deliverance and because she wasn't used to that she said to david why hallelujah she cursed david david said woman what are you talking about i was dancing for the lord from that day forward beloved she was cursed she couldn't have a child because she spoke against david be careful what you say about the people of god hallelujah be careful what you say about the man or the woman of god because words have a way of coming back hallelujah coming around and coming back at you hallelujah praise god david went through through so much his own son absalom his third son despised him and some of the things that he did in the bible against david it was you'd have to read it but eventually he came up against david his army he amassed an army came up against david and david's army and in those days david has joab abner abishai some men that were powerful and if you went up against them you went up against your own at your own peril you would be brave and foolish because those men did not lose and so david's army beat absalom's army and absalom was fleeing and he is here the bible said he only cut it here once or twice a year so you must know his hair was tall and so he was fleeing and his ear got stuck in a tree the horse ran leave him and he was there hanging by his head he's here joab came with three spears and thrust it in his heart and the bible said the rest of the army came around and killed him i mean if somebody stabs you in the heart with a spear they're already dead but the bible says the army came around and killed him so that these that mean this man had a horrible death david was sad but beloved david his trust in god grew and so david penned this psalm truly my soul waiteth on god and i'm gonna ask the media team to just project the words of the scripture psalm 62 truly my soul waiteth on god from him cometh my salvation hallelujah a lot of commentators said that david what david meant was that his soul was to be still and weight so even though he's going through his trouble he should just be still his stillness soul be still and wait hallelujah because from god cometh my salvation my deliverance you notice he didn't say truly my body waited on god truly my mind waited on god he said truly my soul because if you leave it to your body beloved you don't want anything to do with god hallelujah so david understood this and he said truly my soul because my body i cannot depend on it sometimes my mind drifts i can't depend on my mind so i have to leave it to my soul to depend on god because from him cometh my salvation my deliverance hallelujah he's my strong tower he will deliver me when i allow my soul to wait on god he says he only is my rock and my salvation so if you look at it beloved he didn't say he is my rock he says he only stressing that means jesus he is depending solely on god for his deliverance because he knows that when god is his only defense and deliverance he will be well delivered god has his back and god will take care hallelujah of him hallelujah david said he only is my rock if you understand how david writes beloved a lot of time when he writes he uses different types of things to to to describe god so in the 23rd psalm he compared god to a shepherd he said the lord is my shepherd because that is what god is to him in this psalm 62 verse 2 he said he only is my rock because he knows that when there is where there is rock there is strength hallelujah and there are so many things that we could put in this in in reference to god and the rock hallelujah hallelujah he was the rock hallelujah that moses struck and water came out hallelujah he is our solid rock jesus used a parable to say that when you build your house upon the rock hallelujah you will have a sure foundation hallelujah when you build a house upon the rock the wind will blow up it will grow before you it will blow behind you it will blow under you but you have a solid foundation cannot be moved hallelujah because you build your house hallelujah this is what david continually did he said he is he only is my rock and my salvation is my defense i shall not greatly i shall not be greatly moved hallelujah i was reading this and i said how can you not be greatly moved hallelujah if you're standing in this tile beloved and something moves you and you come over in this style are you not greatly moved but you moved you definitely moved right but you one foot is here in this tile the other is over here so you have not left your place fully but you are still over here so david said i shall not greatly be moved whenever my troubles come but i'll still be here i am not removed from my position hallelujah you are going through your troubles you are going through persecution you are distressed you are sick you are troubled but you shall not greatly be moved because god is your foundation hallelujah you shifted but you're still in a position oh glory hallelujah you shifted but you're still in your position hallelujah your mind is troubled but you still come to church hallelujah you are distressed persecuted but you're still in your position you are still functioning hallelujah you are not greatly moved hallelujah even though trouble is coming from the left trouble is coming from the right you are not greatly moved because you allowed the lord to be your rock and your defense it's time for us to stop depending on ourselves stop depending on our minds and let god do the work hallelujah david is building his trust in god hallelujah going in the scripture hallelujah hallelujah and so not being greatly moved we see in verse verses three and four verse three david was addressing somebody he says how can you imagine how long will you imagine mischief against a man he was referring to himself but he was addressing his enemies he shall be slain all of you hallelujah as a bowing wall shall he be and as a torturing fence hallelujah then in verse 4 is like he was addressing someone else other than his enemies they only consult he was speaking about his enemies they only consult to cast him down from his excellency david was a king so he knew that people wanted to overthrow him so he said they only consult to cast him down from his excellency they delight in lies blessed with their mouth but they're inward they're dirty hallelujah and we see that our enemies the devil hallelujah will set people oh god to bless with their mouth but their heart is far hallelujah from with you so david was experiencing this in verse three and four hallelujah and so he went over and says my soul verse five saw this he was telling his soul soul wait thou only upon god because my expectation is from him so he was telling his soul he was encouraging encouraging himself soul hallelujah wait thou only upon god because god can defend you god can deliver you when you allow your soul don't allow your body because your body will betray you your mind will betray you but when you tell your soul you anchor your soul in jesus and say soul wait on god hallelujah god hallelujah we'll defend you have you ever have you ever had expectations of a friend and those expectations were dashed you expected your best friend to do this you expected your friend to do that but they didn't when you have expectations in god he will deliver you he will come through for you hallelujah because your expectation in god will be similar to your faith it will build your faith when you expect things from god hallelujah and so after david said that encourage his soul and say soul we are though only on god he went on to say because he only is my rock now this verse is similar to verse 2. it's basically the same thing but you will see the difference he only is my rock and my salvation he is my defense it's the same as verse 2 but then he said i shall not be moved in verse 2 it says i shall not be greatly moved but when you make the lord your defense when you make the lord your salvation when you lift your faith hallelujah the lord will not allow you to be moved hallelujah so you start your journey as a christian you're going through troubles hallelujah you have your foundation but you went through something and you weren't greatly moved you stood firm same way then when you go on and you learn more about god and you start to have a relationship with him you will move from be not greatly move to not be moved [Applause] this is a lesson in your christian work when you go through experiences it is to teach you so here you were not greatly moved but you were shaken when you go on in your christian journey that same thing not supposed to shake you your face is supposed to be lifted you are supposed to grow hallelujah and i think this ties into what bishop was preaching about right you have to grow as a christian you have to grow as a child of god and the things you go through with god and your trust in him will allow you to grow in god hallelujah hallelujah and so beloved we go to verse 10 where he says verse 11 i'm sorry god has spoken once twice have i heard this that power belongs unto god now to understand it media team job 33 verse 14 please go to that hallelujah hallelujah for god speaketh once yeah twice yet man perceive it not hallelujah job understood that sometimes when god speaks once or twice because we are stubborn as men we don't understand we don't listen to the voice of god hallelujah so god has been saying believe in me because i have power believe in me because i can deliver you but you are not hearing because of your doubts so david hallelujah and david was in another dimension because david said god spoke once and i heard twice hallelujah that power hallelujah that power belongs to god hallelujah and so you see where david had to trust god because if you hear from god two times say my power why shouldn't you believe him if you hear from god more than once that he can deliver you why shouldn't you have faith in him [Music] hallelujah glory to god hallelujah hallelujah you know beloved and i'm i'll be ending hallelujah with this hallelujah as a christian as christians sometimes we say some some things you know i usually hear hear saying say i almost threw in the towel well let me tell you something about this saying of you throwing the towel the background to this saying comes from boxing now i'm a sportsman and i like boxing i wouldn't do it but i like to watch it now as a boxer you are equipped with a glove with a pair of gloves and the requisite skills needed for you to defend yourself as a boxer now when you get in that ring you have your gloves to help heal you to block punches from your face you have the skills to dodge you learn how to throw a jab you learn how to throw a hook an uppercut right those are the skills needed for you to be in a boxing ring no the boxer is normally accompanied with his trainer some a cotman to help to fix the cuts they get when boxing and another person that gives them water or something like that but there are three persons at the end of the ring when the round ends the boxer goes to his corner sits down he gets instruction from his trainer he gets a water he gets he gets his cuts fixed now when if that boxer gets into trouble throughout the duration of that fight and the trainer realizes that the boxer can't manage or he's gonna get damaged the trainer has the option to throw in the towel and if you've ever watched boxing and see that it's called a tko a technical knockout right as christians beloved and we have god in our corner we have god as our trainer or shield or defense when we are in this ring of life hallelujah when we get into trouble hallelujah we have god as our defense guess what god don't own a toeil the boxer though go into a ring with a toe he goes in the ring with gloves and skills as a christian you go in this ring of life with the word of god hallelujah you go in the word in this world with fasting and prayer and the person in your corner which is god don't own a tawil so you should not be saying i almost threw in the towel because even in the real world that doesn't make sense because the box don't go in the ring with a toe as when god is in your corner he's encouraging you you get you get an uppercut god is saying fight on my son fight on my daughter endure hardness as a good soldier of christ god is encouraging us to fight this light affection hallelujah we're working for us a far more unexceeding weight and eternal weight in glory god is encouraging you to fight on so don't you dare mention that you are going to throw in at all where you get it from hallelujah continue in the things which you have learned continue trusting god continue to be in the place that you should be in the house of god but grow hallelujah grow in faith hallelujah grow in power hallelujah grow in your anointing continue hallelujah enduring hardness as a good soldier of christ
