[Music] yesterday we christened our new home down under with the fantastic debut here at spotless Stadium and the action rolls on as we welcome you to a massive day two here at X Games Sydney what's happening everybody and welcome to spotless stadium Brandon Graham alongside the legend Chad cakey and of course Mitch Tomlinson out on the course Chad no better way to kick off today's festivities than with the contest brimming in Australian talent you have the best opportunity to have an Australian podium right here in BMX dirt the selection of riders just seems to feed off of what Australia has for BMX dirt we've got a good opportunity for at least a few of them up on that podium there is a palpable energy coming into the stadium the doors just opened about 15 minutes ago so fans are scurrying down to get the best seats in the House for this BMX dirt final as you said a lot of local talent including our defending gold medalist from X Games Minneapolis who we'll be getting to momentarily but there are a couple of guys that we want to keep our eyes on especially today and we begin with Kyle Baldock it just seems like every time this guy enters a competition he's the favorite he's a threat because his trick list is absolutely massive he's also a very competitive dialed and methodical bike rider he's always gonna be a favorite because of the way he is yeah there's no doubt about that but the guy they're chasing out here today Sydney local Brandon Lupo's grew up riding across the street from where we are at spotless stadium he's trying his best and not succumb to the pressures of being the local hero and X gold-medalist with the target on his back yeah as you said Brandon Lupo skating at a park literally outside of spotless Stadium but here's a look at the list that they will be joined by obviously Colt Walker Brian Fox favorites but keep your eyes on Pat Casey he's our top ranked qualifier coming in with some momentum he wins yesterday the jumps have dried out there a little bit faster I'm already seeing amazing tricks that we didn't think we're possible yesterday it's gonna be exciting today yeah it's been raining all week if you're just joining us here in Sydney that did delay some of the course build and there was some issue potentially with how this dirt course was going to hold up it looked great in qualifiers and as you said we can only anticipate the best out here today so without further ado let's kick off day two here of X Games Sydney it's our BMX dirt final and to kick things off we've got Jake Leyva an absolute animal on his bike he is ready to drop in he knows what it takes and he's ready to get that sydney medal here we go starting off with an absolute banger to hard tricks in a row unbelievable doing the constants off at the end you noticed his back tire stayed on the top of that landing that's just gonna throw him off had to run out of it and the one-and-only legend Matt Hoffman picks his bike up for him Matt Hoffman is everywhere at an excuse it's incredible but a lot to like through these first two hits chapter he's showing some some lines and tricks that if he can clean up that last jump I think we're gonna get a really good score out of him all right right here you're gonna notice 360 downside double tail whip doesn't quite get back to his pedals leaves the back tire on top and hangs up and has to run out of it will tuck and roll well a score of 52 he'll look to clean things up as he's got two more attempts just to give you an idea at the format here for today's final we've got ten BMX riders out here each of them getting three runs on this course the best single score counts and even if you're taking issues with the first couple you can always save your best for last case in point Brandon Luke posts just a few months ago at X Games Minneapolis it only takes one good run to stand on top of that podium and if you've got it lay it down wherever you can Leandro Barrera he got in through our qualifier yesterday had to hold on and wait but here he is in today's planet it'll be exciting to see what he brings today awesome that was unbelievable how high he was amplitude is going well and finishes a full pull three trips three jumps that is the recipe for success my goodness what a first run for Leandro as we take another look right off the gate skyrockets in flight this is impressive watch this first hit look at how high he goes grabs that backflip tail whip early spots the landing it is crucial to make sure you land that first landing just right twist the turn down clicks it make sure he lands in the right spot again the flow out here is difficult you'll notice that plywood in there is making sure to cover up those soft slow spots gets this double tail whip all the way around catches puts his feet straight back on the pedal that right there was textbook Leandro's fourth x-games appearance a score of 72 still in search our first podium finish we move on to our next rider who also got in via our qualifier to we'd Godsey keep an eye on this first hit the guys are coming down with the most speed they can out of any of these jumps that first hit they are going higher than any other jump and you watch right there the jumps are 6 feet tall so he's got to be at least 15 feet over flat ground absolutely the course a dizzy hitting first run for de weed that was phenomenal I cannot believe how much he put into that run look at the rotations here China odd rotations he's off axis comes in spots look at his eyes they're just spotting the landing and lands in such a good spot straight into a double tail whip those tricks don't typically go back-to-back the guys are feeling it today keeping the momentum going and then finishes up with a cash roll on the end we did not see this type of riding from him in the qualifier earlier this week didn't see it at all earlier and definitely did not see any of these tricks on those last two Joe whoa ninety point three three Burr Godsey is the new bar that set it high the rest of the guys are chasing him down that's got podium potential and we're still early on here in today's final but we turn our attention now to Pat Casey our top ranked qualifier here are some highlights from yesterday on how he got here Chad the guy was the the best advantage out of anybody coming off of a win just yesterday that momentum is feeding into today and even better jumps today to work with it's his 11th X Games appearance he's got a couple of medals they both turn upon though in Park still looking for that first podium finishes during all of that amplitude he is at least 15 to 20 feet above flat ground just absolutely blasting cannot save it just landed a little bit sideways and can't keep the wheels underneath him that's alright we have two more runs best run counts we know Pat's got it I mean just look at this 360 straight into a bar spin spots as landing knows exactly what he needs to do and there it is I think that's what happened he was that second jump he landed just a little bit high hung up lost a touch of speed had to push through that cash roll was just a little different off axis so Casey will look to clean things up on attempt number two as his score drops in at 851 0.33 never did I die you heard him say it himself our next rider to drop in kevin Peraza BMX so important to him but so is family let's hear from Kevin in his own words [Applause] to the list of BMX park winners before X Games gold medals and groundbreaking performances Kevin Peraza was an aspiring rider learning his BMX routes turns out his BMX routes extend back to his father who learned to ride in Mexico so I love me America I feel freedom I use it for work I always ride with passion I tell my wife right after Mary we need to go leaving us for keeping doing what I like dear X as a child Kevin was so hyper we saw that he has a lot of skills on BMX just going into BMX and racing for a little bit and then realizing all the Freestyle aspect outside of racing just blew my mind by his mid-teens Kevin Piazza's interest in BMX was cemented Kevin's progression was unreal I don't know what happened but it just clicked on him and he just went through the roof with this like we didn't even realize how good he really was until he was winning all these huge contests perfection and that's how you get an X Games gold medal right there with BMX it's been so rad to have three other brothers and a dad that's into it as well so it's never ride alone I'm always with someone you know and I'm always having someone to push me and make me laugh our family is just we're just we're like this some BMX definitely brought us together so need to see I love those old photos of his dad Victor who was a BMX racer looked like he was on the set of rad it's amazing seeing that stuff such a cool BMX family and Kevin's dad actually gave him a clue said ride hard and have fun that's all you need to do and just keep it going and that's what Kevin's bringing in today huge Superman seat grab unfortunately missed his pedal wasn't able to make it over that last jump good thing we've got best run counts two more runs he'll be alright he's got another one kevin has won this event before he did it back at X Games Austin in 2016 oh there you go see that left foot he missed going back to the pedal just clipped the landing not spot-on and dialed he's got room for improvement he'll be all right yeah always with a smile on his face the happiest guy out there but there's no doubt those two tricks we saw from Kevin that's podium potential right there excited to see what he can do and finish and clean that thing up so Kevin Peraza will get two more attempts we're just getting started here at spotless stadium to beat God Zeke leading the way with that ninety point three three [Music] [Music] [Music] there's an individuality that comes with being creative with going towards your passion and to walk away from that you're walking away from this structured thing that puts you in a category and people are like whoa boy you know something I don't I don't like that and then they'll chase after that and either you know put you down bully whatever it might be that they they know you know something that they don't and so I think that usually it's a knowledge thing or maybe like a insecurity thing or inferiority or whatever it might be and it's okay to be different that's why you're at the skate park at the first place right you know so I just think that with with bullying at the skate park if these kids had that knowledge and comfort to say yo I'm okay I'm different that's fine well why are you doing a kickflip that way bro it's this way I learned it you know I think there is a deep-rooted you know issue behind that action with bullies for sure well-said x games.com slash red hate to learn more about this program shred hate choose kindness and it's been so amazing this is so many of our athletes Michael Aaron included just get behind this thing and be terrific ambassadors for it but we move on with run number one here at BMX dirt here at X Games Sydney and if the crowd gets a little louder here's why one of their own Kyle baldock who represents the post but he's assi to his core the fans absolutely love him this is his 10th X Games he's got nine medals chat he's got six gold medals he knows what it takes to get on top and here we go just blast him he's got too hard tricks straight into a cash roll come on and he knows it he just let go of his bike and is standing so proud that his first run worked back well watch the amplitude he's just as high as God Zeke on that first set all right here's that second set front flip with a no hander well stretch spots the landing great location and then finishes with this cash roll it's such an odd spinning trick that looks cool got back to his tires all three hits textbook ready to go ball doc is in x-games mode he's won this event three times but it's been a minute the last gold for X Games dirt coming back in 2015 he wants this one oh so bad that score of 86 putting him into second place comfortably in second place that's first run and if he can build on top of that he knows he has more stuff to do there you see Colt Walker next rider to drop in let's take a step back in time when our host Jack met Ronnie caught up with Colton prior to X Games Minneapolis [Applause] why hello there and welcome to the road to X Games I'm Jack Mitrano here a beautiful Boise Idaho Georgia cycles just picked up a new ride fringo link-up with Colton Walker X Games gold medalist get to know him see how he's getting ready for X Games Minneapolis 2018 and what better way to do it then on a tandem bicycle let's go pick them up what's up man how are you good Jack Maroni I'm part of the athletes shuttle service once you hop on and help me pedal this thing okay go to the park right yeah all right takes two to tango and we're off to Bolton Walker he's another one of those guys that's got a deep arsenal of tricks so Colton you went into X Games Minneapolis last year as a rookie and you left with a gold medal take me through that experience going there getting the invite obviously dream come true and then to win a gold on top of that it's hard to explain that feeling that you get yeah I was blown away so I thought it was pretty funny you landed your gold medal winning run and you had a very mellow reaction and then all of a sudden the score came out you realize you're won and that's when your jaw dropped top spot were you surprised at the score you got there yes I was very surprised I was super stoked on that run obviously the gold-medal great spending the day with you good luck at X Games and hanging out should we drop in one for the room I'll take it from here yeah that's probably good idea ready yep oh I've always said the best way to break the ice with someone when you're meeting him for the first time is to rent a tandem bike it's such a good way to get to know somebody just stuck with each other jack bat Colton that day and now they're best friends so here's Colton Walker our gold members from 2017 oh my goodness he was that was the highest hit we've seen so far but he knows something's off yeah the timing was off on that first hit unbelievably high but he didn't fit the right trick in there he knew he messed up second jump just let it go that speaks to the precision of this discipline as we take another love shot the second you take off you're one of the best he knows exactly what he needs to do and if it is not feeling right you back out don't make it worse than it needs to and he knows what he's doing 100% and he also knows that he's got two more chances when he won back in 2016 or sees me 2017 he became the first rookie to win dirt good since gold excuse me gold since Steven Murray back in 2001 here's Brian Faust 23 years old out of Deerfield Beach Florida he currently lives in Raleigh North Carolina with Brandon lupus brian has a staggering trick list it is Genet see that he hung up he knew he lost speed it wasn't gonna work unfortunately your trick selection has to be key but your landings have to be even better in order to have any trick on the next job Brian earn bronze in Minneapolis earlier this summer and we'll see where it just doesn't go right for him huge backflip bar spin let's see if we can get a good shot of that landing well he knew going into the second one he wasn't going to be clearing that clearly you can see his his back tire on the back side of that landing he just went straight into that one leg DP a forty five point three three for brian box he'll get two more attempts here of course we count the single best score in this BMX dirt final here on day two of X Games Sydney we move on though to our silver medalist from X Games Minneapolis 24 years old out of Logan Reserve Australia Logan Martin another Australian with a good solid medal count knows how to get on top and firing from the start bar Spencer goodness bar spins 7:22 bike rack oh he went for it he was going for it he knows what it takes to get on top of that podium when he sent it first trick just absolutely enormous that was possibly the highest we've seen anybody hit that first set he's got to be close to 20 feet over flat ground great landing dirt looks like it's in better shape boys are doing better with this 360 Double Down side and something went wrong with that roller did not pump it right that's what looked like to me just as he was going over the roller just missed the pump a little bit so Logan has to settle for a sixty point three three hopefully he can clean that up and put together a full pool on his next attempt but we turn our attention now to our defending gold medalist Sydney native Brandon Lupo's Brandon Lupo's can bring it again he wants the gold medal doesn't like pressure doesn't believe in it thinks you know what I'm just at home riding with my friends here he goes riding with his friends oh the key chat doesn't even make it to the second he stopped appreciates the crowd but he knows he's got to throw it up whether you like it or not you gotta throw away two runs anyway so our entire podium from X Games Minneapolis having their issues on run number one you know whether it's something with the mentality it's been a grueling weekend with the different schedules changing based on weather that may have something to affect them but realistically we're all dropping in and everybody's riding the same jumps this is their moment they get three chances to go for it they need to get themselves reset and go for it yeah right here is where it goes wrong just clips that black back tire on the top of the landing slips a pedal and you know you can't recover from that well let's head down to Mitch Tomlinson who's with the local boy yes that's right I'm with the local boy right now how special is it to be the only CD competitive competing in front of your home crowd oh it's unreal I'm stoked to be here and riding in front of my home family and friends and yeah I'm stoked that X Games is here so I'm stoked two more runs we're looking forward to it thank you well he could say he's stoked but he knows he wants to get that run we'll find out run number two coming up next here at X Games Sydney [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so excited to call this gorgeous world-class city of Sydney Australia our home here right now welcome to the inaugural X Games Sydney it's day 2 and we're in the midst of our BMX dirt final from spotless stadium Brandon Graham alongside chat PEGI the fans are coming in and they are in for a treat as we begin run number 2 and I don't know that any of us would have guessed that the we've got Zeke after these 10 riders had one run in would be leading the way absolutely dominating at this point with a commanding lead and he has two more chances to improve upon that going in with momentum so run number 2 kicks off with Jake Leyva out of Tehachapi California earning his way in via the qualifier he's currently sitting in fifth place his skill level and he knows what it takes he's got a bag of tricks he moved himself close to Woodward west he trains on a daily basis riding the dirt jumps and the kids that are just like this stuff maybe not as soft keep my brother but he's making do it knows what he's got absolutely enormous flip double tail whip into a front flip no hander he's keeping his flow keeping his speed and unfortunately misses his pedal on that last landing just disappointing to see that last jump not come together I would love to see him clean that up and see what kind of score he could get well he'll yeah one more shot at it but it was a carbon copy through the first two jumps job he hasn't been able to put it together he wants that as his run I'm sure if he would have put that down for his first run we'd see improvements and bigger tricks but he needs to get one done absolutely had it all the way to the end just a little bit too much pop for what that jump has so 51.6 six he'll hold on to his run once more but it doesn't give him much as far as the standings go fifth place is where he to stay beyond Rome or era currently in bronze medal position with a very solid 72 that he put on his first run now I don't even think he was sure that that would hold up as a potential podium finisher as it stands right now he's in that bronze medal spot if any of the other guys have anything to say about it they're gonna jump over that 72 he knows he needs to up that score here we go absolutely blasting a flip whip to the moon and missing his foot they did something change in the momentum of this event I was just gonna ask you we started to see at the tail end of run number one that first hit giving the riders issues and it continues here and run number two I can't there's just an emotional connection to something something changed the mood you never know when this stuff happens but there's a pattern going right now guys are missing their pedals so Moreira will hold on to his run one score we'll see if the luck can change for our current leader set to drop in as you said the weed he's got the lead with that ninety point three three what can you feed him now to even give himself a bit more distance knowing that some of the big dogs are yet to land their runs with all those big dogs get to land their runs do you think this puts more pressure on here or should man acting with an ID I don't know that [Music] absolutely goes for it knows he wants more but I love that though job he's not resting on a 90 point three three he wants more I like his style I know where he's coming from never resting on what you already did oh just clips that landing he's just blind for so long on this first day he's looking over his shoulder trying to spot the landing sees it while he's upside down still spinning another rotation I had he been just four inches further it was unbelievable so do weed unable to improve his stock he'll get one more chance the here's Pat Casey our top ranked qualifier coming into today he's sitting in sixth place that third hit gave him troubles on his first run let's see if he could put together a full pool let's hope he learned from that and cleans up that last Joe okay the first two hits were great 360 double whip truck driver bringing some more speed and does not clean that one up he's definitely hitting that landing not staying spotless alright unfortunately Pat Casey just sliding out of that last jump his first two hits are going just fine something happened between that that second hit the roller there it was a little bit of a hang-up took his speed away and when you're talking about these jumps still drying now still gaining speed they're not quite perfect apart he lost a little speed on that last they're in the second landing it's been a bail fest more or less for the last six or seven riders we have not seen a complete run since the middle of the first attempts will hope that Kevin Peraza can buck that trend right now is he's sitting in eighth place let's clean it up boys let's get this routine going everybody wants to see the great show and they all want to stay safe and land on two wheels Kevin Peraza it's go for it buddy big 360 tail with Superman seat grab again remember that from the last one stays on the misses his paddle with his left foot but I don't think it touched the ground I think you're right we'll see in the replay but just the value of putting together three tricks three hard tricks in a row keeping his flow his momentum is key here he absolutely have to put that together little bobble there I'm sure he was going for that tabletop but he cleaned it up he kept it going great Superman seat grab pushing through on that second set but again he also has to take into consideration Barrera sitting in that bronze medal position with a 72 certainly has to kind things up so he has to clean it up but he never touched the ground and I know the judges are really crucial and critical about that right so that puts him at a seventy one point six six up into fourth place but we know what Kevin Faraz is capable of and clearly the judges do as well absolutely the judges are paying attention to what was supposed to be there and they know these riders well enough he started the table but he had a foot off and he didn't happen that last one with the foot off and looking at those small things in order to be on that podium you need to have a dive Kyle Baldock sitting in sober metal position he's won this event three times before the killer bee is gonna attack right now this huge 720 didn't land perfect so it gave up on that second yeah okay so he gave in and knew it wasn't the road he wanted that's too bad so when we get a replay if we get that first hit you'll notice his 720 is huge but he doesn't land directly in the center of that land it should be noted as we take another look Kyle baldock as we said has won this event three times before he's 27 years old though rider over the age of 25 has ever won BMX dirt gold here at XKs he was off to the side of the landing did not touch the plywood may have just sucked up most of his speed but you know talking with Kyle he likes when his back is up against the wall he likes to perform when the perception is he's being counted out so he's sitting in silver metal position right now but I think he likes the fact that maybe he's going to have to come from behind to potentially win this thing on his final attempt he feeds off that pressure cooker he wants that that energy that comes into it he has to put it all down on the line right now this is it all or nothing what if we can include that backflip on flat ground into his trunk might have proved the score so he'll hold on to his best run of an 86 comfortable with an 86 in second place the rest of the guys are gunning for him he knows he's got more and he's gonna bring it on this last run yeah there's no doubt about it there we see Mitch down with Kyle Mitch take it away okay Kyle sitting in second position must feel pretty good you know stranger door first but right now you're in you're hot in Australia first X Games over here your mum's in the crowd it's her first time she said you compete how does it feel man it feels amazing to have my mum I've traveled on I have no voice as well because I've been yelling at all the monster team and all the boys out here but having my mum I wanted to descend it just them forever a little bit off next one it's all from my mum riding third round car well done I'll bollocks mother Debbie Lee x-games Sydney it's the first major competition she's ever seen her son compete in what a story that's incredible it's so cool when the whole family gets together and you get to have the person who supported you through being an amateur and growing and injuries finally get here and see the biggest stage in the world see the hyper focus of Colton Walker and his struggles on run number one huge bars bend the tail whip backflip pushing through with that 316 you know he's gonna triple God and it was clean you can tell the dirt is soft and he's still smiling because that didn't count oh that's what we were waiting for out of Gordon Walker I can't wait to watch this one again especially that third hit Chad oh my gosh look at this that's two and this is the third triple tail whip catches it and land straight on to the pedals that's what you have to do this third set is just kryptonite for everybody luckily he ended up just falling on the landing of the no jump is what was being said in his brain at that moment in time so cold Milwaukee getting a run in front of him that's what he needed will obviously knock out that 37 point an 83 putting Walker in to podium position we knew he had it in him so now we'll see if runs like that are contagious as Brian Fox is set to drop in for his second attempt I sure hope it's contagious because every single one of these guys has so many tricks they want to put down today our bronze medalist from X Games Minneapolis this is his third X Games appearance those hands were all over the place that scared me and he saved it and kept on going he had butterfingers on two jumps he saved it on the first one thankfully third one got a little dirty that's what happens yeah look a little sleight of hand watch real close to his hands right now goes up does a bar spin misses his hands luckily he grabs back on and straightens it out no idea what else he wanted to do but it looked like a fast bar spin to grab another trick and here double truck driver he throws it he didn't do a catch catch it's dangerous because there's a good chance that could stop rotating in the middle just like it did see we're the professional riders were good at crashed tuck and roll immediately 49.3 3 saying hi to mom and dad owns a bicycle store called State Street bicycles in Athens Georgia so Brian putting pressure on himself for his third and final run cos ninth place is where he will stay Logan Martin he's got two silver medals in this event right now he's just trying to get the COBE position and there you go that backflip bar spin and no hander to start his run see if he's got this last one 720 double bar spin somehow bounces didn't leave his bike but he sure didn't roll out of that one and the judges are gonna be critical on that the difficulty factor is always off the charts when it comes to Logan Martin's runs here at accident one he's got this combination of crazy tech tricks and huge burly tricks and somehow it just blends them together into one run and right here his feet aren't on all the way just under rotated a touch pitched him sideways and at that not rolling out of that last jumps really gonna affect his score yeah a 62 so Logan Martin will stay in 6th place but we turn our attention to our defending gold medalist Brandon Lupo's he's sitting in 10th place Chad there are 10 riders in this field you do the math he's in last place we don't expect that trend to continue if he can put this run together here with this format he can put it all together 3 jumps in a row 1 run all the way up the first place it's crucial for him absolutely necessary to land in the right spot his heart tricks oh is definitely not gonna do it again the first hit keeping brand in trouble he didn't want us to come to the pressures of being in his hometown defending gold medalist yeah you spoke to him right before the final right before the final and he says I don't believe in the pressure I don't think it's there but when you finally get yourself into that position this is the first time he's ever had a gold medal he's coming back as the defending gold medalist and I know what it's like there's a target on your back but even more so he might not be used to the amount of media exposure you know Brandon won gold at X Games Minneapolis on a backup bike I'm wondering maybe for this third run should he should he ditch his his setup and go borrow synapse for an extra so we'll see if Brandon Lupo's can put it together on his third and final run unbelievable start here a taxi and Sydney BMX dirt final exactly how it is it's based on that voice what the bus riders got accomplished on that mean that everybody [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] the x-games returns to buttermilk mouth with the world's best action sports festival and live musical performances through 27 X games.com slash tickets go get them third and final run time here at the BMX jerk final at X Games Sydney Colton Walker with that huge second run to put him in a bronze medal position chat absolutely incredible how he was able to put this run together this course has been so challenging for everybody to overcome what the weather's done and some of these guys were able to put the runs together that need to happen Kyle Baldock sitting in second trying to add to his collection of 9 X Games medals you know currently in second place but I can guarantee he wants another gold medal he wants to do this in front of his hometown in front of his his mom and delete God Zeke our current leader got in via the qualifier if he wins it would be the first BMX medal for polo just earning a medal period just earning a metal just like we had in BMX Street we're having surprises happen right now yeah done a key from Scotland earning BMX his first metal for the country here's a look at our standings after two runs in our three run vinyl some huge names on the outside looking in a ports headlined by our defending gold medalist Brandon Lupo's yet to put down a run shot you know sometimes it's just too much in front of you with the ideal run you want to do with the course that's available he may have to back just a little bit on the difficulty simply to get three solid hits Sydney stand up spotless stadium getting packed we've obviously got a chock-full event scheduled and they are in for a treat for third and final runs we kick things off with Jake Leyva sitting in seventh place his best run score so far of 52 this would Berg West local knows what it takes he's got the tricks he would love to go home with a medal for sure Jake dropping in and started out with a humungous backflip double tailwhip did not extend his hands as much as he really wanted to on that second hit but did complete a full pull all the way to the end so that's Jake's first complete run of the day he picked a good time to do it as she said there were some hiccups along the way but this should certainly be his best score you know the arms were out it was a quick quick extension not nearly as high as he I'm sure wanted to be but we're working with what we've got with these jumps and hanging up just a little bit on that last jump but he was able to pull it off keep his feet off the ground roll all the way out of it happy with a completed run and as you said as we came back from break these guys are going for broke these are the best riders on the planet of course we're going to see progression in real but given the issues that the entire field has had with this course you almost wonder if there's a thought a notion of bringing the tech down ever so slightly just to put together a full run and have your name in the conversation when it comes to metal evaluating the situation and the course of what's available as part of being a pro rider it's not always about doing the new rare invented trip we'd have to be able them land sometime go all the way through railroad going to the moon absolutely firing it out triple whip I'd say he was he may have been the highest we've seen on that first hit 20 feet Leandra Barrera finishing with a triple whip clearing that last jump is crucial for this he's sitting in fifth place this is easily his best run of the day I don't think he's gonna be sitting in fifth place after this Colton walker clinging to that bronze metal spot of course he's still yet to drop in his for his third final attempt has an 83 he would need to best that to get into the top three my goodness all the way back to the pedals he did pull it that's three solid hits how will the judges score this one and in 80 so not enough he does jump up one spot but not enough to crash podium position top three still safe for now Dewey Godsey our current leader I don't know that anyone could have predicted it at this point he saw him go for it on attempt number two do we expect more the same I'm here on the third and final attempt so excited to see what he's bringing to the table because he's not my bullshitting where he's at and going again oh my goodness taking his hands off he knew it was off he knew it was not rotating what zactly is that what is that trick so he's got an odd access going into this watch as he starts rotating he's got a so here he's got a little bit of the cash roll thing going on if you count the rotations there's a full 1080 in there but there's a bit of a flip as well so depending on who you talk to if it's a Ryan Williams or its Godsey you end up with a different name for the trick it starts getting complicated either way it's blind and he's taking his hands off in the middle of it but I love his approach as you said just previously hey does some guys need to take a little off the top as far as the tech goes to get that run together not got Zeke he's being chased he can afford to take those chances but he's in the position he knows it his first run was solid and put him in the first place he can take the chances he can roll the dice not Casey in his 11th X Games appearance he's got a couple of medals they're both from BMX park in search of that first podium for dirt Matt Casey just pretend it's the lumberyard buddy yep - solid tricks going in it goes in with seriously going for a 180 on the last jump that is so difficult to land backwards and roll out of it and he knows it he's out there having fun yeah take another look Pat Casey just unable to complete a run today but you saw what he had in store on this one big stylish 360 tail whip into a bar spin - no hander and he's just nice big tail whip 180 I thought he was under rotating and jumping out and then ends up landing backwards and rolling out a little bit makes it down to the bottom has to jump off just one of those things you know when a today you know when it's not it's really a replication of what we saw in Minneapolis where he rode really well in the qualifier but couldn't land a run in the final and we're seeing it again here and for the crowd that's out there watching he definitely intended to land backwards on that last jump it was not an under rotated 360 he wanted to do a tailwhip 180 I believe he just knows it wasn't his day and was just sending it for fun Kevin Peraza a 71 point six six has him in sixth place we expected him to get on the podium here's his chance there's that tabletop he was looking for earlier big Superman seat grab let's see if he can put it together for this last 360 driver down side tail whip lands it perfectly that's what's the run Kevin was waiting for that's what he was looking for that last run you knew that table was missing right here comes in does the tail whip catches early and cranks the table top he's got such a stylish way of doing those just so textbook chat grabbing the seat feet together pushes that Superman seat grab he knows that's the trick to help him get distance on that hard difficult second jump there's that bar spin down side whip straight back to pedals and look how happy he is finally third out of three runs puts it together he knows it he's so happy is that enough to get into the top three no in each three three not enough to best Colton Walker for third place Wow solid run but the level of riding has gone up especially with these jumps those top three guys are sitting good right now but getting a little nervous because Kyle's about to drop in this is the moment we've been waiting for Kyle baldock has had such an illustrious x-games career he's sitting in second place he did not come to Sydney for a silver battle Oh humungous 720 no-handed front flip he's putting it together right now just couldn't get the distance on that last jump his shirt says it all X Games both that's what he came for here today trying to push it out on his final attempt humongous 720 and just spots his landing great pump out of that keeps the speed going yeah perfectly executed no hander in the middle of a front flip landed a little bit low on that that one that's a trick that pushes through that may have just killed his speed and just couldn't get the distance in the middle of that 720 catches and fully on the back of the landing well right now he's in silver battle position there's still a couple of riders who could shake things up but he should hold his head up high that 86 that he scored on run number one was massive and really got this crowd going his mum's proud of him for silver medal position currently now he's just got to sit back and wait no doubt about that there you see him with the current leader though he'd got sick but cold Walker he needed a big one on run number two he delivered that got him into bronze metal position now he needs to give himself some breathing room with some big names behind him that could push him out this gives him an opportunity to up his previous score he's going to put something else in there there's 360 tailwhip on the middle and then double tailwind so he's got another solid run in but does does that really top his second run I don't believe so clearly he knew he could clean some little things here and there in your opinion Chad cakey was that enough to at least a point to give him that space in my opinion I don't think he upped his previous score it's good that he put another solid run in he's he's comfortable out there he's making it all the way through but that's not enough to get yourself into that first-place position let's see what the judges think hey dowdy - as you know just a point below what he did on his previous run so now he has to sit and wait with some big names behind them set to drop in for their final attempts including our bronze medalist from X Games Minneapolis Bryan Fox Bryan is sitting in ninth place he's yet to complete a full run backflip bar spin again on that first set looking to clean up his run and there he goes there was that that double truck driver where he throws his bars and just lets him fly finishes his first run sure we might need a course report is he hyped I cannot tell finally putting the run together that we've been waiting for from him all day as we said he's our bronze medal you see did you see that replay that was a bar spin the bar spin back in the middle of that absolutely massive flip and then the last hit that double truck just throwing and letting him fly like his Joey Garcia or Chris Doyle you would need an eighty three point three three I agree with that excitement to topple Colton Walker and get into that bronze medal spot obviously Kyle Baldock in silver medal with the 86 was that enough to jump back onto the podium a seventy six point six six jumping him up into sixth place but he will not be returning to the X Games podium he's good with that he's got a smile on his face and happy to complete his run Logan Martin earned silver at X Games Minneapolis he's sitting in eighth place God Zeke and baldock at this point have to be feeling good about their place Colton Walker is sitting in that bronze metal spot still waiting will he stay there not if Logan Martin has anything to say about it hung up a little bit lost his speed yep he knew it he's not going to be able to do it this time just not Logan Martin's day this course is so challenging for these guys it's really a it's forcing the guys to adapt instead of coming to X Games for absolute perfection in the course this weather has really made it challenging in a soft take offs lack of being able to pump you're seeing the plywood out there covering up the really soft spots in the course all right we turn our attention now to the final rider to drop in he's in last place and he's our defending gold medalist oh by the way he's from Sydney Australia Brandon Lupo's hasn't put together a run that first hit has given him issues will defeat God Zeke hold on to this thing or Brandon Lupo's have something to say about it here on his third and final attempt focused and ready to drop he wants to mix up that podium you know he does that's the whole reason we're here he wants to win he doesn't want it to affect him he's ready to drop in and erase that score of a twenty point three three and change from tenth place to first he'd like to drop that zero [Music] right here we go come on Brandon keep it going they do a casserole can he get all three and a triple lip keeps his foot off the ground to be proud of he does it on his third and final attempt in this crowd erupts here at spotless Stadium he had trouble staying on his bike all day and finally completes the run when his final attempts is taking over so excited to get through that how much did he mix it up look at this first bit absolutely shoots to the moon blasts all the way he's probably 20 feet over backflip double tail whip lands in a really good spot second hit maintains his speed pushes through with a cash roll cash roll is a front flip you got some rotation in there let's see and sends one two three tail whips in one jump just Clips the top it bounces his foot off but does not touch the ground humongous different in the judges eyes between touching the ground and your foot just hovering what body control from Brennan Lupo's when it mattered most let's say they're biting his nails he knows this is gonna be a close one so here they are Brandon Lupo's our defending gold medalist the weed gods eek our current leader who posts a score of 81 point six six not enough to get on the podium and with that Godsey earns his first X Games and it's gold it's gold and the first medal for Poland also gold this is incredible what a moment for the meet god Zeek you said it yesterday we saw Scotland's first BMX medal and today we see Poland's X Games Sydney is going down in the record books of just surprising people with the underdogs many of us expected kyle balda and Colt Walker to be there on the podium I don't know that any of us expected Navid God Zeek but there he is with the gold Mitch take it away now talk about nail-biting waiting for everyone to drop waiting for those schools what was going through your head I can't believe it I was sure that everyone can do better than me because I learned in my first run so I was sure everyone can do better but yeah it was good enough you know it looked to all the other competitors when we're standing over there it was like you were gonna win gold or you were gonna die trying yeah my strategy was go oh lean or go home without nothing so I went away went all-in and it worked we'll congratulations on the first gold medal for Sydney X Games 606 Thank You Man Joey got sick on his first run setting the pace had to wait with all of those heavy hitters to follow after him and when the dust settles he still stands on top simply remarkable he went all in and achieved that elusive gold medal his first metal ever so here's a look at our final standings and BMX dirt Colton Walker with the bronze Kyle Bulldog adding to his metal collection his 10th a silver 86 and the gods ik the man of the hour his first metal Poland's first BMX Ben and it's gold well partner that was quite an event we saw a little bit of everything some of the guys saving their best for last but it was delete God's ik saving his best poor first holding on to the top spot going the distance earning gold here in PMX dirt for Mitch Tomlinson and chat gaggy I'm Brandon Graham thanks for watching here at X Games Sydney
