blam alongside the most decorated athlete in X Games history the legend Bob Burnquist Bob this event that you want oh so many gold medals on now to see here in China for the first time this is incredible what's up X Games what's up China this is insane this is the big day this is when the butterflies were about to go and that's what every one of these guys are feeling right here it's it's go time it's officially a new era here in X Games big air we look back at last year Mitchie Brusco finally earning that first ever X Games gold medal yes he did and he did it with a tech run here the kickflip back 180 right into a 1080 and don't see too many of those and that was well deserved yeah so Mitchie taking the top spot he did not go to Sydney so it was up to Elliott Sloane and he was up for the task at hand as he wins another gold medal in big air yes with another tale night which is not easy to pull on and he just been doing up every event so that's an insane trick to have under your belt if he has that here right it's been an amazing head-to-head battle between those two a look at our field eight athletes spanning two countries USA and Brazil the u.s. riders dominating four of the last six have metal to big air gold medalists in this field then a little fun fact where you sometimes we forget just how fast these skateboarders are going on this ramp up to 40 miles an hour yeah it's fast and you know we do go faster on a skateboard but this is very fast with technical tricks so a look at our finals format we've got eight skateboarders each of them getting five runs the best single run counts the importance of getting that fifth run here in the final yeah you got five you got five tries to get really checked best run this is a good format you know you know it's better than having to best run so this is it so look at our start list obviously we talked about Elliot and Mitchie a couple of newcomers in the field anyone else we should be keeping our eyes on well all these guys are well deserving to be in here I see Trey would with a with a really nice NPD here that looks like he's gonna be throwing it down because I've never been done trick here the comp so we're gonna be looking after Trey Mitchie Scott always has something under his sleeve you know we know what Elliot has he wants to throw a couple different things everyone wants to put it out there and Bieber's putting it out there right off the bat with the gear yeah we call that peacock cake no one rocket flare kit quite like Bieber Fleming out here today in his second X Games appearance he took 10th in Sydney he kicks off big air straight off the top yes he knew the backflip was coming nice bone back what happened there but he made it so that's great that was insane he shakes his claim will take I'm gonna say it was at 5:40 there's no other trick and he's amped so 5 went down that is a scary combo no matter what I mean here we go now we get to see what's going on look at that backside 5 so clean it's the same run he did yesterday for qualifying or for elimination but he landed the back foot much better went higher on this on the 5 so he shouldn't get a better score and the Knoxville Tennesse made of getting over 20 feet that's a good height I won't be surprised if he high-fives the ramp there again high fives a lot of smiles whoa and when you Lance off the big jump and I mean you say that is a scary ramp yeah he's happy but he was scared we all are score a 7.3 3 but regardless of that number just to get your feet under you and put down a run right out yes it's important to point out here that this that is a winning run that's a d-wave like you know top run from when you know back in it's just a few years so you see how much it's progressed like all of these guys are throwing runs here he's got a 70 you know and because there's that many more runs going down and tricks are happening so Justin dropping it's which is Justin repair on his third X Games appearance a little too fast on the spin I kind of felt I'm hoping you just make it because it is and here's you got the difference in style here Justin with the Chinese flair shirt rocking it looking good in the silk switch Dale and then just a little too fast on this man that slow motion here but he spun too fast and he was starting to over rotate hand land lo there Justin splitting his time between the ramp and the classroom he's a senior at Cal State San Marcos Justin's rad to skate with he's always skate in the backyard then progressing a lot so we're gonna see more of them here for Justin's first attempt so that means that that gap trick was worth 39 right white so at a festive kid perspective yeah so so here's a tulip henna rubia it's his 9th x-games appearance there you go you got a little body part seat last couple days a bit different we got a tail wind or a quarter he tail went today so we really need that perch to use off if not people are gonna land all the way far down that landing so here's the ITO let's see if he's gonna go for is feeling he's gonna start out yet with the ollie three lands real nice so that perch worked out perfect right into the Vario five he has that so cold yes he Tello with the varial five I mean that's trick that's a scary looking trick MANET he just has that eats elope header Rubio over 24 20 so oh my goodness he and I score we got a no grab all III here tribute to Jake Brown right into the burial five and a tribute to D way solid look at that I mean he wants it you know he had a few days of practice here he's been skate you know got to go through the elimination round and so uncomfortable that's great to have a run in like that that's a solid first run he's got four more runs to make it a better run he was our top ranked qualifier so impressive been right there just missing the podium still in search of that first ever X Games medal does that change here today in Shanghai an eighty one point three three a huge score for ss4 they're still first runs not every skater is gone so the judges are holding on they're trying to see how the contest is gonna turn out but that was a good score but you know the way these contests can be sometimes you got to give yourself room there if you're more early so here's clay Kriner he's so multi-talented see him in part we see him in Beart we see him in big and see him everywhere man he's an overall amazing skateboarder okay gone for the mp7 which I haven't even see him do that much he just does it with an alley u5 in crow Lake Ryder come on okay you know these guys are really putting it down here I mean that's a solid in d7 and I gotta say the Aleut back five it's gotta be the scariest feeling trick at he's just on it you know this boom haven't seen him do that many of them and he does it solid clean stylish bone perfect landing and then into the alley-oop five one of my favorite tricks just to look and watch look at this alley you piece he's a starting on one end and then traveling you know we talked so much about Mitchie last summer getting that first gold medal lost in all of that this guy earned a silver medal yeah yeah and clay is like that I mean he can really put it down I don't know where the judge is gonna put him here but that in d7 was really nice so yeah he 5.66 for clay Kriner he takes over first place well deserved good job clay coming off an injury there that's not easy [Music] Wow so clay Kriner putting it down there you see Eliot Sloane he and Mitchie Brusco were able to hit the ramp a little bit earlier and film some clips on their iPhones let's check it out hey I'm Eliot Sloan I'm out here skiing with Mitchie Brusco and we're skating the big area you've never seen a big area you can't really explain it it's something you have to see for yourself we're basically skating off of a skyscraper we've got an 80 foot rolling with a 65 foot jump and a 50 foot jump and then a 28 foot tall sorta pipe that you just go straight up to the moon I want to come out here and I want to at least try some new stuff and so I just want to be creative I'm super stoked to be here and I think just the energy of skating with each other and hopefully push it to the next level on this one [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] a stunning look at our new host city we welcome you to the inaugural X Games Shanghai we're in the midst of run one here in the skateboard big air fire clay Kriner coming correct on his first run he's got an early lead as we carry on yeah we're gonna see that leaderboard bounce around everyone's got incredible combinations going on here and people have been putting it down there's with four full runs Ronnie Gomes 27 years old earning his first ever X Games medal in Sydney last year taking home the silver Bob yeah Ronnie has his medal and he's a hungry man competitive guy you know and he's got some incredible tricks one of my favorite he has the frontside Ollie 3 on lock and that's a really tough trick over the gap there so you know he also has the 360 that landing backwards on the quarter pipe so he has he has tricks to to match what's been going down here in the last few runs let's see what he chooses to do first ball grabs down the Kerch gone down switch Oh end up in a switchback 180 ollie yep if I go to on the first for sure and to that tail three that's a really tough trick you let go a little think you went upside down and let go a little too early I could help held on to that one a little bit more but it is scary it is high and it is fast so all kinds of things are going on your mind switch back 180 ollie a relative went help there with the board stuck to his feet Lance really nice up there and then but it's upside down and let's go early hold on a little more feed then that floor just goes away I think he might have over spun that actually what's going into a 5 so don't have to adjust that spend on the next four more chances well we know that that switch backside ollie is worth forty two point three three so that's a high gap trick tray would eighteen-years-old everything let's see what tray clicking for him once metal in Sydney last year yes oh there it is there it is if he's the barrel 5 and that's a solid run come on tray and he brings it around hit credible tray wood putting something dude love to see the progression with the body burial 720 very nice beautifully done stylish looking trick in store for an run one look at this bounce that's just so cool looking and then this is really where he's gonna have a hard time to supporter isn't no joke and boom upside down Pharoah five he was a little off but he's like I am NOT jumping off my board I just landed a body barrel seven I need this and he is got I think the combo of the day so far we saw Trey wood his first ever X Games in 2012 back in LA when he was still just 11 years old awesome and here he is at 18 putting down tricks we've never seen before over the gap a 90.3 three into a commanding lead and it's crazy we're still in yes we are and they're putting it down it only means that they can just you know get better from their starting throwing some high risk that wasn't high risk already you know this is a cotton this is a competition we got here so here is Mitchie Brusco winning that first ever gold medal last summer what does he do for an encore kickflip back through he's gonna go for the kick nine or just straight line I have a feeling you might throw that but first run I could see him doing a big comeback three into at nine so he goes for a kickflip back three there lose the board that's a tough weird feeling trick with grab over the gap but that's why he's talented high risk he's got eight X Games medals not more important though than that gold he finally was able to snag last summer in Minneapolis Elliott Sloan won gold at X Games Sydney he's won this event three times before let's hear him now in his own words motorcycles maybe a couple years ago now just through dirt bikes I guess and then to my friends got street bikes and then it kind of just one thing led to another and a street bike riding bikes is great for like just clearing your mind and it's good to just get away from everything else and switch it up for a bit and hopefully you come back to skating you're trying the trick to trying to learn something new it's like I think helps [Music] I think would also like you Lee drew me to riding bikes it's just how fast you go I love skating mega and skating bird going really fast so this is something that I just I'm not fall in love with so you could see myself doing it for a really long time [Music] well Elliot's song has been so good in this discipline Bob we've seen him in fur but this has really bit the event and we've seen him progress over the years since his start everything seems to be clicking for Elliott Elliott slaw goes for the tail see that's too bad because you know in his head he's going like maybe I should I just went for a knife but you bail a 5 when you're trying to just put a run together it's definitely gonna be feeling but this indie semuc looks that puts it down he has that one down and then just this is the tail grab going for the tail 5 to get his find in the in the right frame to go for the nine I can't even fathom how to just throw that one down but Elliott Sloan definitely has four more rods and plenty of of choices and chances to go and lots of tricks to pick from so an exciting first run the two guys who have won the last couple of cold metals in this event do not put together and aren't able to finish so they've got their work cut out for them at a 45 for Elliott Sloan Trey wood laying this ramp of blaze right out the gate he leads the way with that 90 point three three run number two when we returned here in Shanghai whatever that score is that's his capture score that's such a cheat code that I never thought about that's really did you remember when we used to [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] welcome back to X Games Shanghai run one in the books here in skateboard big air Trey wood leading the way with that ridiculous ninety point three three right out the gate Brandon Graham alongside two legends X Games really wouldn't be what it is today we wouldn't even have this event really if it wasn't for you guys Bob Burnquist and Danny Way joining us Danny thanks so much for coming in awesome so Trey would what you think of that doing something we've never seen before over the gap in this then do that run was awesome it's cool seeing the younger generation guys switching it up and bring up some new stuff to the table so here's Beaver Fleming on run number two landed his first run feeling pretty good he's sitting in fourth place he can only get wild tells us that yeah he's got a good outfit oh but see that with that trade going that far he had that happen the last few runs of his elimination there and that's the win throwing that board away cuz he's got it off the small gap no promisee ball almost had enjoyed he's got the technique I think we'll see I mean it's an evolution of just trying to go bigger on you know like building bigger ramps and trying to figure out you know where the ceiling is with altitude you know back in the day I was inspired by I saw that often built a huge quarter pipe and I've got my wheels turning in there and we get to see Justin do a switch backside 180 scale no problems now at five oh he gets it this time yes Justin solid that's what we're waiting for from Justin Rivera no doubt about that he's from Encinitas not sure he gets a plus 0.5 just before you get drops amp with this with the Flair nice 5 you almost over rotate a little bit Oh got close there blue skies yes for the final good to us seventy-five for Justin putting him up into fourth place here in run number two good run for Justin he does have better tricks so we're gonna see him evolve as with everyone else Issa LaPenta rubia 28 years old a really strong first run yes it put him into third place Bob you know his tricks better than anybody what is he gonna do here on a tumble - I feel he's gonna go for that late shove it there Mike grabs nailed and get it good so Holly Lake Sevan still upgrade from the backside ollie three back foot just a little off front foot kind of tow heavy they're getting hold it together when you land and you're on you know when you land and you're that close you'll do anything to try anything you can see he was fighting if you would have paid that he might have gone like maybe eight feet on the quarter but it still it still make you know so Danny our next skater clay Kriner he's sitting in that silver metal spot he's really a guy after your own heart he skates Park he skates bird he skates big air he crushes at all of them he's a multi-talented skateboarder and he's amazing to watch he's got a pretty good chance of today in addition to that silver medal in many last summer he also had that flasher part the job last year that was just psycho yeah we love seeing it video parts put them together just as important as you want to have it all you want to be able to progress technically and it's great to see clay with that mentality these days and it's too bad there he build that in d7 I have a feeling I mean there are rumors that he landed an ally you backside 9 so let's see a massive crowd on hand here at X Games Shanghai we're in the middle of run to tre would still leading the way [Music] the world's biggest action sports festival returns to the land of 10,000 lakes it'll be the third year of this history-making event at US Bank Stadium uses at the Armory featuring the blind chick Chevy medal and pushes the boundaries of progression X Games Minneapolis August 1st through 4th welcome back to X Games Shanghai fans having an amazing time out there in the festival Village something for everyone out here today at X Games the middle of run number 2 here at X Games Shanghai we appreciate you joining us for the ride Brandon Graham alongside Bob Burnquist and beanie way two guys who know a thing or two about this ramp obviously we're in the midst of this final I want to get to that Ronnie Gomez the second run I'm just curious having both you guys in here right now you guys in addition to really pioneering this had some epic battles on this ramp any particular X Games you guys look back on between the two of you maybe more fondly than another I don't know it's always fun you know it's always fun to skate with Danny and it was it was just like why I put it down oh my gosh couldn't keep my thought process there was brownies 360 hang up there but yeah we had it we had a good time man and Danny's always been a lifetime inspiration so it's been an honor to be able to skate so many events with him and just pushed me all the time so yeah you guys really want to be pushed very much you guys traded off gold medals and then Danny we thought you walked off into the sunset and then we added a rail over the gas but I think you guys said hey give us something more you came back for that just trying to keep you know some the event evolving in some way bring some diversity into it now if you look at you know the things we built outside X Games we've experimented with a few things that have actually been pretty awesome always excited to bring something new yeah and train would brought something new and now he's going for a backflip so and talk about this you guys both know what it's like to put something down that gives you a sizable lead right out of the gate now you can afford to maybe have some fun get a little looser maybe the pressures off at this point yeah I think Trey just like I mean he wanted to do it first run but I don't think he expected he wanted to you know try it a few times have you know five runs to put his run down but it worked so now he's like okay what do you want to do it's always the good feeling is to put down your son that's that's like you're you're praying that you get the first one huh yeah but even if it's a good run you still got to deal with scores going up throughout the heat so here's Mitchie Brusco let's hear him talk about his win in mini I've competed in the air for nine years now and in Minneapolis last year I didn't really expect to win cuz for a while you know you get second or third or fourth or fifth and you know you show up and you have a trick idea and it works and cool but it there's something different about it when it when it works and it's magical and you win and everything kind of comes together and so it was a big day for me for sure Mitchie Brusco was a kid somewhat designated for success early on we remember how much hype he had coming in as a 13 year old to the x-games stage finally getting that gold that all that was special to see in Minneapolis last year yeah I mean he's been you know put in the spotlight for expectations since he was in diapers his kid and what a hard position to grow up in you know the weight of the world expecting you to dominate and he's done a good job of dealing with that pressure tough that's gotta be in his head and he's going off to small side he noticed everyone was going off the top he's going technical and he's going from below because I feel something high-tech is coming on the corner but he's struggling out to choice over the gap but remember it took him four tries to land that gold medal run it's only over when it's over so Elliott here needs this tour his mind frame sake going for the Handy seven got that one really nice looks spent the last view it goes till night so I kind of had a feeling that was gonna go down because he's feeling like man I could have had a tail nine attempt on my first go since I bailed so he's going for it there's not many more attempts that's a really tough trick snapped a little too hard lands low there some young get scores on the board at this point else we do like I would say if I were in his shoes I'd be going go for it thank you second place is cool but you there's no points trying to stack stars place is better you know and you know you want that Elliott Sloan are defending gold medalist from X Games Sydney right now he's just trying to land a run board from Shanghai after this [Music] [Music] Shanghai China home to over 26 million people and now the home of X Games what a debut event it's been out here we're just a stone's throw away from Disneyland Shanghai Resort we're in the middle of run number two that just wrapped up we're getting ready for run number three a big thanks to the legend Danny way drop him by the booth here today dropping some knowledge to us Trey would leading this thing ninety point three three that's a great looking board right there would play in second Etha low in third Wow yep that it's still wide open with a couple more attempts to go for everyone let's look back at the year that was big air in 2018 Mitchie Brusco right now he's trying to get this thing lined up he's in ninth place he's trying to land this run he got very close he got close it's the quarter that's given a very technical now consistent spinning really good this might be it yeah oh my gosh Mitchie Brusco Mitchie Brusco with a in competition come on thank you and Mitchie Brusco with his first gold medal been a long time coming for VG so much talent Eliasson BC is down to the wire he's gonna have to bring it right here in d7 yes [Applause] it's an awesome battle between those two back and forth but right now they're both trying to just put together a full pool Michie just trying to get his trick right over the gap as we begin run number three here in our 5 run final Bieber Fleming sitting in fifth place beaver wants it let's see if he can handle the wind here so he basically he jumps the board stays going straight and he spins his body within 360 kind of see it happening here the board stays he's gonna spin his body trying to grab slob just doesn't work but you got time so he's trying does it happen run three four beaver just gonna throw that one away it's a great time for for a big air skateboarding with a good era here with all this move around the leaderboard you know a lot of guys a lot of new guys heavy hitters and yet to put runs it's still a new era right yes well he's got his run so now now he needs to upgrade looking stylish Justin China China style for the X Games eatle opener rubia he's sitting in that bronze metal position had such an amazing first run yes and he knows it's a fragile spot because the heavy hitters haven't put it done put a run down yet so you tell of those he's got I guess three more runs so let's see I have a feeling he's looking focused and we're gonna see at least that first trick go down if that happened there's yes he tough trick it's a late shove it you got the wind against you there the relative wind kind of seems like he exploded a little bit too much see right here a little fast on that shove it around yeah the board flapped into the wind and then that kind of flips it away but still okay I mean he doesn't have a solid run and he wants to yeah and he wants a medal he wants a medal and he needs to upgrade that run if he wants to stay in the metal passer battled at X Games does that change here today clay Kriner sitting in that silver metal spot he is feeling himself right now Bob let's see play he puts this 87 down yeah you know clay is just a wobbling look he's got like just shirt no elbow pads no gloves just enjoys that shower I guess at the end of the day the old look at doing that well yeah there's a reason I mean most people don't want to feel that at the shower later but clay doesn't care and if that's what helps it put any sevens down an alley Oh fine maybe I'll try that on my next session see if I get those so clay Kriner will stay in that silver battle spot tre would still leading the way run three continues here when we return [Music] okay welcome back to China x-games Shanghai is going off right now as we're wrapping up run three go so all with incredible combinations that could change it all up but right now tree wood clay and eat the Lord there you see Ronnie getting ready to drop in he's in seventh place has something over the gap yet to land a full pool can he change that up here on his third attempt I feel like this is it Ronnie's a competitive guy he wants it doesn't want to waste time there's that switch right now yes he does look at that that's a tail grab three Landy backwards that is a scary trick to come in the difficulty factor on that Bob yes and I think that I usually maybe if he doesn't tail grab that tail grabs a little looser on the foot so Ronnie with a really good run switch backside 180 ollie and tail grab 360 took up a couple of girls to figure out the speed of the rotation and not to let go you can see them hold on to that tail a little longer and then let's go there to keep it in great cabo for Ronnie so that's gonna move things around I feel they might it could fit could throw the Kody in position but it depends on what these guys are looking at me till I had a solid ride but that was a switch role in so it might put him up there an 88 for Ronnie putting him all the way up in the silver metal position Ronnie that was solid that that might just guarantee the podium for Ronnie whether it's [Music] [Applause] nice he had been competing in this event for so long Bob and had yet to find the podium that all changed in Sydney last year when he took a silver medal so he's back in familiar territory yes and he got a taste for it so he wants more here's our current leader tre would come on tre let's see well like we said he's got the body couple adjustments to make there if he wants to make that back to the well and again he has the luxury to try it again do it everyone he did his best brought his dream run on his first go so so here's the cheat Brusco who's just trying to land something over the gap Bob yeah I'm itchy you know he is going for it it's tech so he's I have a feeling he's gonna go for that kickflip three again and until he gets out I mean there are five kickflip backside three he's having a hard time today and I think that once you start bailing then now you start thinking and that now your mind is you know that when you were in this situation you would give yourself three tries I would mean I would pick before I start the contest because then he let emotions kind of run your game well he's over three on that now so at this point does he just go swinging he might you know I don't know what the strategy is on the quarter pipe because I feel like he's just trying to get there you know maybe get a night in it I've seen him try a couple kickflip night so I don't know at this point he just wants to add that kickflip three and if he does man I feel a diet is coming Eliot Sloan seven-time medalist three of them gold in this contest at the top spot back in Sydney right now though he's in seventh place yeah I see the contrast tree would Elliott's devotional stage total you know yeah Haywood gotta run and Elliott is not so Haley it's a favorite here and he's got the talent and the tricks quality she's got to put it together oh yeah he's got those down but I mean after a few attempts bound to bound to bail it but he's got to keep his mental game and check there because it's only really over when it's over so Elliot it's got to get in that right frame of mind so three runs in and Trey would still leading the way here in the big air final [Music] [Music] [Music] the world's biggest action sports festival returns to the land of 10,000 lakes it'll be the third year of this history-making event at US Bank Stadium new musical performances at the Armory featuring the blind chick Chevy metal Diplo Incubus POS swimmers and the wu-tang clan that always pushes the boundaries upper correction tech schemes Minneapolis August 1st through 4th welcome back to the skateboard big-air final here at Shanghai crowd on in here to bear witness to progression in real time we always say it and it bears repeating whenever we've gotten this event so right now our podium is temporarily clay Kriner Ronnie Gomez and Trey what things could change those we get run number four going take another look at clay Kriner Bob Burnquist alley u5 in d7 clays and good spot judges are doing a great job I mean this is a tough hop to the judge here they're putting it together these guys are skating amazing incredible skateboarding Ronnie came in with the last run there to put down the Switchback 180 and going for the tail 360 on the quarter pipe really tough scary tech and clean execution by Ronnie Gomes with a silver for now but our current leader Trey wood came correct right out the gate run number one right out the gate with the MPD for clay spinning around getting off the board body varial 720 clean solid and then burial v he ain't a Grom anymore this is a full grown man throwing some intense tricks to be in first place oh he's a happy camper cool collected let me play so what's still in search of that first-ever X Games gold medal could it happen here today an X Games young guy a look at the standings a couple of names we weren't expecting to be sitting there in 7th and 8th Elliott Sloan and Mitchie Brusco but Bob that is the beauty of this format that can all change on any single run it can all change and if you're in the right frame of mind and that's where it's really important to just calm things down you know they're guys that are having a hard time but yeah you're billing your runs but you have to believe until the end this guy doesn't have a hard time no matter what he's always just smiling stoked and he's got to run in so let's see go for that ah he goes for the lazy frontside seven no foot Wow trippy looking trick for it for beaver beaver Fleming almost able to flip this one down over the gap Bob yeah so he goes for the frontside seven no foot or trying to extend it out there into a Christ and just over spun there that died almost 900 he can put it down smile permanently etched on Bieber's face getting creative puts a runt down and just tries to have a good time there's Justin Rivera he's sitting in fifth place has a run down but needs to increase the score if he wants to vie for a metal flake grinder right now in that bronze metal spot would be the best in eighty five point six six right now yeah and everyone with different strategies you got Trey going for the jugular right off the bat and then you have Justin kind of building upon you know his score so he has to go better switch switch backside ollie with that late shove it he was doing about my house pretty consistently he goes from the switch backside Ollie 180 and shove it's it grabs the board again with his feet without his hands and you know here he's having a hard time with the wind now he's going faster further and there's the excitement at the competition making a move little too quick Justin's gonna have to let that one go so he's got one more chance that was a zero so we know that if you don't make anything zero it don't get a score so Atilla panda rupiah he was sitting on the podium before Ronnie Gomes jumped in and bumped everything around was easy to get back up there though Bob first of all and they're great friends Ronnie yeah attila they're very competitive it's funny that Ronnie would be the one maybe but I mean attila does have an upgrade on his run and I think we're gonna who saw him attempt his late shove and stale so he wants that into his burial five I don't know where they're gonna put that also has it no grab so yeah that is true a fourth place finish in 2017 is his best finish to date and that's where he stands right now man see the issue with mega rampant there's a competition going on you're excited you're nervous but when you're going that fast it's hard not to move quick but the key to mega is like you're going fast it's crazy but you have to be subtle any time to get out see like he was just trying to make everything happen before it was supposed to happen so he needed a backside Ollie 360 first and then late shoving he has one more run eat alone so clay Kriner sitting in that bronze metal position at a silver last summer at X Games Minneapolis he's the only skater to compete in big air vert and park the last two years at Minneapolis he's gonna try and do the same and earn his way in 2019 he is a force out here on this ramp today he's incredible play a lot of my favorite skaters right now and he's just like all around everywhere 87 man could put it down it went down on his first run when she beat stove I mean that's that's a lot better than bailing all the way up to now is just feel the pressure so he's got a run he's on the podium he's frustrated obviously because he does want to he does want it you know put a combo together but it's a great showing for clay here with coming off of injuries should be smiling well let's head down to Jack Mitrano you might have a word with clay clay I'm a huge fan follow you on Instagram what's the story with no pads here I mean I got my pads on and as much as I need and you're currently in third place what are you thinking for your last final run if I can make it to this quarter pipe like a try some we'll see I don't know I'm struggling on the gap been like battling an injury a little bit so just stoked to be here put something down at least and how was last night in Shanghai I heard you had a fun night in the city every night in the city has been an amazing man the boys have been going off putting on for the crew we'll be back at it again tonight the whole gang best of luck to you on your last run thanks black back to you guys clay Kriner having a good time sitting in that bronze metal spot right now one more chance Ronnie Gomez landing that run last attempt getting up into this over metal position you said that you felt pretty good about this potentially holding as a podium spot and so far that seems to be the case yeah that's a solid run for money so he's stoked if I could put you know put some words out of people up there on the deck I try to just kind of remind them that they're living the dream life and life is beautiful and they're here they're at X Games they're skating they're healthy you got to step off for a second because they're just like I feel like especially with Elliott they're just having a hard time he really wants that run so it's just kind of like okay man you know you're here you got two more let's put it down let's be stoked and you know so Trey wood is that that ninety point three three can Ronnie do anything here to potentially challenge for that top spot well he does have a frontside ollie 360 which to me is a lot tougher than his switch backside 180 on let's see if he goes with that he goes for that we got a he's got a wound up the quarter doesn't go for it he goes for the 87 everybody puts it down let's see what he gets in Andy oh my gosh gets his glasses go so that's a serious level his glasses go away oh man that was a hard hit there but that was he wasn't doing too many of those in d7 said you know he he went for it I don't know how much that would would do and if it would take him up the wood would bill but it was definitely upgrading his lab can't fault him for trying going for it not kids have a second place let's look at this so slows it down it's a good spin just landed a little too low oh the over rotation kind of reminds me a little bit of my slam when I hit my face on the ground that's kind of like what that over rotation that way so he was able to hold that I'm glad everything's fine and a 43 is what he scored so we know that's what that trick for him it's for tre wood sitting in first place that run he put down on attempt number one still has not been touched he's trying something over the gap he hasn't been able to do it the last two attempts back flips that's cool he's just you know trying to try to learn something you know during his X Games run because he put the brunt of his dreams I mean he's cruising right he's cruising oh what a great position to be in tre wood backflip and you can tell he's just you know he's just trying to have a good time here put something different down because that's not even closed as far as the score for his you know body burial seven so he just wants that back he's been over three on that backflip he'll get one more shot if he's got to do it will he be pushed we find out one guy who could make some noise and shake things up Mitchie Brusco everything can change this guy Michi is capable knows pressure has a strategy let's see what he does what he chooses to do let's see his foot position let's see if I could call it his drop in [Music] yeah he might go for that again oh he's just feeling okay he wants down Oh yeah I mean he doesn't want to leave the competition with all gap bales so wasn't gonna do much his 360 that trick off the quarter is a scary trick so just go 360 get across the gap doesn't want to like not big one run here at X so he's got one trick in and then there is I'm having a hard time was he going for a 12 there I mean he came around then he came around 6 that looked like he was that looked like he was going for a 12 Wow okay that got me fooled and if not my reaction well I I think I got it of the field as you saw I think they couldn't believe what they just saw that just stunt me here I'm going after Elliot Elliot song we have to turn our attention what could be on that fifth and final attempt for Mitchie Brusco we turn our attention now to Elliot's swamp he's got the trick over the gap he has not been able to put down a whole pool he's sitting in seventh place Elliot is no stranger the pressure and he has it down it's lust about here might at the winter they have to wait let's see okay Eliot drops in Indy seven blocks in just traveled a little bit too much if you would have landed that he was flying off the ramp so I'm glad he didn't put that down just because he was way off the edge the quarter just continuing to give Elliott trouble out hats and flap on that 87 and adjusted fixed it so his heart did skip a beat on that and then just having a hard time grabbing tail there I mean how far out he was if you were to land it on that board all over that barrier to get Elliott slow just putting a lot of pressure on himself to try and land a run and get back in defend his gold medal clay Kriner feeling himself he's sitting in third place but it's Trey wood that's leading the way who's going to catch him we find out when we return [Music] fifth and final run time here at the skateboard big hair final and x-games shocked hi what will happen on this last attempt my quickness Mitchie Brusco just sent shockwaves across this place trying to attempt what appeared to be a 1260 off the quarter pipe on his last attempt we'll get to that in just a little bit Bob Burnquist but right now our top three clay Kriner Ronnie Gomez straight wood let's look back clay Kriner sitting in that third place spot hold it with his first score first run so he's been podium since the start of the competition that's been holding strong that alley you 540 well done well executed he knows he's got Boris he's good yeah that's one and Ronnie Gomez still holding with the switch backside 180 ollie no grabs look through the air good lander and then the tail grab 360 Ronnie Gomez had had such a drought trying to get that first ever battle he finally got it it's it he got a taste for it well we found that 360 there that is a you know once he got that trick on the quarter his and then tre wood is just in a good place right now it never been done right out the gate landing that ninety point three three overall and now he's just been trying to have some fun with that backflip off the gap but this thing was pretty very nice and then a burial five to match it so well deserved top spot chill call so a look at our standings before the fifth and final run Trey wood leading the way Ronnie Gomez and clay kleiner rounding out our top three but again every chain and Mitchie Brusco sitting at the bottom of the standings could all of that change they will be the last two riders of course to drop in this contest and Mitchie Brusco just went potentially hammer town yeah that was pretty awesome that sets the stage for this final run to be filled with people trying to get better one more try Flemming Hawaiian shirts Sunday for beaver yes so beaver Fleming put down a really solid first run and that's what he'll hold on to but always in a good mood one of the good guys here at skateboarding fun to have him out here been trying to lay this down over the gap yeah and beaver you know came through the elimination round there made it through the finals stoked to be here and puts a run down so he should be happy about what yeah that's a good point Bob Bieber had to earn his way in here he was one of the three guys that was able to qualify in so the good performance for him here in Shanghai nonetheless Justin Rivera another one of those guys who had to qualify has a 75 he's sitting in fifth place and Justin has a trick to make a better score happen here so let's see I know he goes for that sometimes what happens is you're going for the switch backside Ollie baby and that the body gets weird might as well grab the board so this will fail I think that might have been what happened there so he ended up bailing so let's see trying to go sit down he actually goes for the grab right away yeah just going for that I don't know maybe had something new on the corner to put down but that's it for Justin also put a rundown cape through the elimination round in the finals looking good eatle Opena rupiah was our top-ranked qualifier he looked so good in elimination we thought that he had the goods to compete for a medal out here at finals today right now he's outside Bob he was sitting there Ronnie Gomez actually shook things up and bounced him out can't eat too low do something here on his final attempt to get on the podium and he got a good strategy so he put his run down that he made through to the finals and he's been sitting on that run to be able to progress so that's good he put himself in a position to put it down oh he has that no grab that came to his feet but he just over spun backside ollie 360 so there's a lot going on that trick as a big gap a lot of wind so he needs to slow down on the ollie three look at this should be proud it's a little pen rubia good showing but again just coming up short on trying to earn that first ever excuse clay Kriner he's sitting in bronze metal spot and he's got a bronze he's got a silver in this event he's chillin feelin good in third place yes clay let's see what he wants on the quarter pipe he's just so exciting land this 87 and so does he Wow well that's a bunch of clay skateboarding recently because of his injury so just the fact that he made it out here where I skated the bank and is the podium hasn't down that's that's what you just say you never never say never you gotta believe ya tore his right MCL just a month ago so the fact that he's even out at SRI since that hurts is such a showing warrior amazing to see him out here Ronnie Ronnie Gomez he's sittin in that silver metal spot trying to earn that second ever X Games medal his second ever silver he's holding on to that 88 Ronnie gulps he's a competitor we saw put doubt the Indy seven we didn't see him doing that too many times so he's dropping in regular let's see if he's going through that again he might be yeah he was and his foot comes out well he doesn't one put 87 right into eyes could come out there together Wow that is incredible the bantering Songhai loving it Trey wood showing the respect is awesome what a run from Ronnie Gomez on his final attempt we talked about it he was already in that silver metal spot cookies do anything to maybe even take over first place I don't know what the judges cuz I'm not sitting there those guys are amazing with an 87 that is how this wood comes off so there's an extra point right there depending on how you look at it Trey did it I've never been done there and that now this is a tough tough trick so I'm glad I'm here talking about it not judging because that's all heart Ronnie feet coming off board all over the place and he still makes it so great job by Ronnie so good to see you Johnny Gomes as we said sitting in second place with that 88 and 89 so he approves his score but second place he's very he will stay that's still pretty amazing man Ronnie should be stoked yes he wants the win yes you know he came at it and yeah he actually you know got pretty close and put a rub together and scared trade there a little bit there you see our leader Trey wood with the 9 8 3 wood with leading the big air cop what an accomplishment by this guy so he can't afford to take a victory lap because the big dogs behind he goes oh yeah I'm glad he did because I was such a beautiful trick I'd love to see it again I do too because what he realized is you know he didn't control his own destiny with knowing that Mitchie and Elliot still had to come down for their final attempts yeah maybe it's just tired of bailing that back flip it he's like let me do that again that felt good that just makes them look at how cool this is you know that was a bail I was at almost spank comes around solid off the back seat there well it Bob it just makes it all the more impressive that he landed that on his first run of the contest yeah I mean that was his mentality I'm gonna use all five runs to do the best run I can and it worked on his first go so great roll of the dice roll in two four five six so we turn our attention to Mitchie Brusco he won gold at X Games Minneapolis last year he's now in eighth place if you're just joining us though look back with us now with what did off the quarter pipe on his last attempt yes and it caught me off guard I was looking at what he was gonna do over the guy it was hello over the gap okay so he did that I was trying to understand why and then he does this he spends way more than a nine which means that has to be a toll 680 double grabs there he loses his grab grabs again gets solid again he's a little off there in the end I was really close and that tells us that it could happen on this run he won his first ever X Games gold medal with a 1080 off of the quarter pipe in Minneapolis last summer he's the only guy to do that he's done it twice before in competition now he's trying to go for a 12 off the quarter yes and he's got a unique strategy here and it works because what he's doing on the quarter pipe his tank so he could go off that lower jump and still get a good score but you know there are two scores here and he needs to get across the gap so he might just go for it because he wants to make that there he is yes that's all he needs he wants to get there let's see Mitchie Mitchie Brusco incredible progression by these guys here it is a game of inches in skateboarding and it might have even been less than that off the quarter pipe for Mitchie Brusco take another look look at this just starts he's got incredible awareness credible speed on his spin and solid he looked at it and it's almost like he's gonna be slapping himself when he sees this footage cuz look at this that's solid books boom just scary that's a lot of fun no it's right there and he all showed us that it could go down it's a preview of what's to come he's testing it out and he should be stoked that was incredible that's a score of 25 that weighs a lot this crowd here at sharp was hoping for a little history-making now they're gonna wait for some dramatics Elliot Sloan our defending gold medalist is the last skateboarder to drop in he's sitting in seventh place we've seen him landed over the gap he is yet to put together a full run he puts so much pressure on himself Bob train wood is wondering Willie get his first thing is possible everything is possible oh you just needs to believe oh that may be symptoms weird that's it train wood with his first gold and big air Wow Elliott slow unable to put it down and with that Trey wood as you said it Bob earns his very first X Games gold medal oh man and when he did that he learned that trick I saw that practice amazing that's it what a moment for tre Woody's hurt to Bronx in this event tre would but his very first gold in his haha XK marriage look at that smile man I mean that's it that's what it's all about Blake Reiner showing him love and everybody coming around tre would have never been done over the gap what a special moment for tre here in Shanghai so deserving so let's send it down to our own Jack met Ronnie congratulations you've entered this event when you're only 11 years old seven years later you're in your first gold how big is this moment for you tre it's insane indeed I've been watching the X Games since before I even started skateboarding and it's part of the reason why I started skateboarding so to be able to be holding the gold medal is unbelievable it's a crazy feeling in the beginning of the week you're like I'm just gonna take it mellow I mean what changed I don't know I guess just things worked out for me today I landed the run I wanted to and I'm happy with that ended up with this medal and what's it what's it like to have all your friends and family come and Huggy after you claim the gold gotta get a gold mom are you pretty excited are you excited beyond proud of them congratulations to you both we'll see you Minneapolis ladies and gentlemen Trey wood what a special moment his mother Stacy here in attendance and Trey wood and 18 years old as Jackson he's been careful on the stage since he was 11 and to finally in this moment with the never bit done trick on his first run earned gold extraordinary amazing incredible all-around skateboarder killin the part that was coming that was that was a long time coming I could see tre progressing there all these years and you know the scene went here is just incredible so proud of him so tre wood burns his very first gold medal Ronnie Gomez getting another medal another silver medal and clay Kriner rounding out our top three really such great story lines here clay Crider as we said with the NCL tear just eating out here is really special Ronnie Gomez jumping up onto the podium on his third run that's like it's all about Trey with this trick I mean this had been done I mean this has been done but that was beautifully executed with the burial five on the quarter pipe but the body burial 720 was something we hadn't seen well deserving gold medal tre what he can't believe it look at him and he wants more but you got a taste and we're gonna see tre hungry the next few events oh my goodness what an event here skate build big air final Trey Wofford coming correct with that ninety point three three on his first attempt and there was no looking back earning gold here at X Games Shanghai it was an amazing weekend of action here at X Games Shanghai everyone incredible skateboarding no he'd have a hard time grabbing his board there but maybe people were ripping this event was incredible Thank You X Games well a big thanks to everyone for joining us here big thanks to Danny Way for coming through Jack met Ronnie on the sidelines and of course the legend Bob Burnquist with me I am Brandon Graham thank you so much for watching and congratulations to Trey wood on
