Steve getting waxed hey everybody this is Space Marine Steve from play on tabletop and I'm so excited to welcome you into the studio today because this is 40k All-Stars hey everybody this is spaceman from play on tabletop and I'm so excited to welcome you back into the play on studio today for this the 40K All-Stars Christmas episode filled Christmas magic thanks Ben really happy that you have made you do that because I only took one take of this and it has that we're gonna do it again hi my name is Michael buckthorpe and I am playing the forces of the necrons today in this Warhammer 40K battle for the soul of Christmas today someone not me is gonna get waxed I have decided to bring my Christmas angels today my blood angels are coming back for a rematch a fantastic Christmas rematch with Michael and his necron unfestive machines we have an Angelic Christmas chorus with his blood angels led by asterath and the sanguinor backed up by a set of tactical Marines to fill out those troop choices and then a death company Dreadnought sporting two Furioso Fists we have death company Marines all of them with jump packs Thunder Hammers and chain swords we have a sanguinary ancient wavinous flag and then a pack of sanguinary guard with axes and swords to back up all these angels we have a big Assault Squad with jump packs chain swords a power fists and some melted guns and to let those tactical Marines ride around they've got a sick ride in that right now Michael's necron list consists of a catacomb command barge a technomancer a large Squad of necron Warriors and maybe not even larger Squad but a fairly large Squad of lichgard with swords and shields I don't like those not a fan and then we've got a big old Squad of scorpect Destroyers featuring all of the blades and Threshers that they can a canoptic Scarab Squad of course a big old pack of Tomb blades zooming around the table and then just for some a big pack of locust destroyers I'm gonna need to watch those holy smokes and then to top it all off we have a ghost Arc the loser of this game well they gotta get waxed it's gonna be great so additionally we reach out to our patrons and we ask them to come up with some additional rules for the game and all thanks to our patrons today we have got a custom Mission all laid out and suitably festive we are playing for Santa's cookies today and the mission goes like this we have to control one cookie for Four Points control two cookies for another four points and then to control more of the cookies for another four points but there is a Twist we can perform an action on an objective at the end of the movement phase and then if we're still working on that action by the next command phase we can eat the objective which is a cookie and gain three whole points additionally our patrons of the producer tier or hire helped us make this Mission today and so they got to make for us our custom Maelstrom objectives each of us get to pull two objectives from these jars and each of these when we score them is worth five points or we gain whatever specific amount of points is labeled on set objective I every single year pay for a Brazilian waxing so this year I heard if I throw this game I get a free waxing let's get this violent night going I got a five five yeah it's already a 10 show I got a six I got a five so before the game actually starts yeah I'm gonna do my pregame move so here we gotta do that right now loving it [Music] I am going to spend one CP for forlorn Fury and get this quick pre-game move with my death and chooses directive one which gives his army plus one to their movement characteristic I'm gonna draw one Universe ooh baby and I'm gonna draw one necron specific and I'm going to read them to you destroy one unit in the fight phase to score this secondary and that is from Jacob Denning I feel like this is a blood Angel themed one I don't want to be in melee man I want to shoot you like like come on guys carving the turkey destroy three units in the fight phase what is going on that is from Dr Vancouver one of the objectives I drew by a certain man Dr Vancouver kind of screwed me up a bit why would you do that dude we're we're supposed to be friends I guess I'm engaging on that with a blood Angel well I think it's very clear that Michael is not happy with those secondary pulls I'm going to give my will be done I've got two of them because he's a hand of the Pharaoh yep I'm going to give the first one of these Warriors I'm gonna give the second one to the Destroyers behind him he has a kryptek Arcana which the kryptek over here he has a special upgrade which is the hyper material out later or it's basically pick a unit they get cover love it so I'm going to elect the Lich guard there and they are going to receive so I'm going to go into my movement phase I love it Michael takes uh actually a very good start he moves on to the objectives tries to make sure that he gives himself some points and I suppose gets himself ready for all that fighting he's gonna need to do I moved up the table really aggressively to try and NAB those objectives thinking maybe if I can get like in his face quickly and eat those objectives I can run away with the game I have a bad feeling I may have over committed I hear some blood angels and I think I hear the the plaintiff Cry of I am going to move into my shooting phase so I'm going to open up with the Warriors because they are the only ones they only have a 12 inch range I am going to use a refusal to die for one command Point okay and it gets it's going to give them a five up feel no pain treats yeah I make them all and then uh on these ones on threes the spirit of Christmas is with me Merry Christmas that's basically what these guys are screaming right behind this thing this guy's like bye George there's aliens and then they're all right it's like free often at the mouth my destroyers are gonna open up one of these guys to see if they can weather a storm of Destroyers so these are the regular shots threes five eight at minus three two at minus four so two minus four go to minus three so fives damage one damage one five foot feel no pain uh nope alrighty so uh five of them so the first one damage first one just a couple or oh no yeah you're right second one Phillips third one is one data okay fourth one is two damage uh kills a one dude and the last one is two dash oh okay uh last one is a heavy trailer hits on two oops it's on twos three rows ones because he hates you he hits uh strength tens winning on twos three D3 damage I'm gonna make five five UPS do you think I can do it yeah I think so I think we're gonna make four of them no take one yes another one dies the last one I'm gonna do is because you can't see anything over here anymore my um uh the gold star Go Star thank you it must be a necron please uh my ghost how dare you first of all he is gonna fire his 10 shots from the ghost arcs player over there right yeah sounds good he hits on threes here we go minus one because I'm shooting through the forest do it hitting on force and moving on fours two ups from the ones that minus and then one three up yeah yeah I think that it is not a surprise but Michael didn't score any secondaries this turn come here you rascal s explain yourself I assumed there's gonna be at least scorpex and lichgard and maybe some played ones so you know so what he's saying is this is on you [Music] Steve goes up to 3cp and Michael goes up to four CP uh Santa has come to play this is from Chris Walsh uh score at the end of any turn uh for every wound caused by a unit within 12 inches of your warlord which is this one right here you score a relative amount of points so if uh Five Wounds are dealt within 12 units inches of this warlord I get one point ten wounds two points 15 wounds three points 20 wounds Four Points 25 plus wounds Die Hard choose a character model in your army at the end of the battle score 10 victory points if it is still alive I'm gonna put it right next to asterath oh that die hard lens gonna be great for us big guy just gonna be great astrouth is gonna crank open Litany of Rage uh basically it's a New Aura of plus plus two to charge plus two to charge he totally gets it gets it he totally for Christmas and then he is also going to uh mass extinction six awesome he points at this unit here uh and this unit now has a four up and vulnerable save and they get plus one to hit when they fight [Music] this unit of tech memories is going to advance out of the rhinoceros okay [Music] foreign [Music] this guy here is going to shoot his 100 killer missile and his um storm Bolter at the uh hunter killer missile okay entrees uh hit you fours five up involve which I failed so you're killing a base and a half better believe it I'm gonna see if I get base back I do not okay so you kill one base uh this guy's just gonna hug a melt again into the Warriors okay I do one two yep absolute uh minus obviously enough I am going to go to my charge phase okay assault Marines are gonna head in there let's do this I need a six the uh death company Marine gets in there too okay uh the rhino charge is a ghost Arc sure with a nine I am going to tie up this ghost Arc with this rhino all game long it'll be New Year's before that go start goes anywhere uh Sanctuary guard are going into the list guard okay I will set to defend yeah plus one to hit I imagine yeah plus one hit that's right uh four was it funny enough I actually think it's enough you're in trouble little boys uh the sanguard's getting in there with the list guard Also let's just do this okay great uh we're gonna start with the sanguine Garden I'm spending a command point to heroically intervene with my scarabs on twos so on twos with the axes so on twos uh so nine saves are all two damage and you'll be on your involves so four four scary draw they've done yet though I get one back so I'm going to spend two command points to interrupt oh and Michael spends two CP for the interrupt and one CP for Eternal Guardian to give the Lich guard plus one attack while in range of that character all right so he is fighting a back and everything into the sanguinor eight and vulnerable saves have to be made and oh my sanguinor lives with one wound oh I'm saying what our lives with the one wound yes so he's just gonna go and he's just gonna message that he's that's what he's gonna do Tom two who are you baby yeah yeah all sixes are a mortal wound at the end of the contest so if I pour-ups so Five Guys drop [Music] only three remaining and then my assault Marines okay all right so the guys that don't have chain swords uh on twos uh because of uh massive Doom and then on threes because I charged and then on twos trees sorry six drop I'm looking for fives and I've made two and I'm re-rolling one okay so four drops total so two come back and you want to go with your better believe it thunder Hammer man yeah so I get three attacks uh because I charged okay uh on fours uh because of the Thunder Hammer one twos six up nope and five up nope yeah I'm gonna do the scarabs on your pilot yep fishing for sixes five that was your way ticket man point just make it worries over here to attack with yeah all but one wounded you threes they killed him yeah I knew it sixes this is Jeff company you rat back now I got denied here I got denied yeah it was awesome this is a Christmas miracle oh yeah these dudes all right I lost seven I lose one which I'm looking oh you're okay so I leave an additional guy well that happened at the end of my turn yep I'm gonna cash in Santa has come to play uh to score two points you know how many points I have zero because you made two six up saves yeah that's so true [Music] already here at the very top of turn two Michael goes to one command point and Steve two three command points well also uh Michael is in control of two of those objectives uh but not more and so he gets eight points on his primary objective I'm gonna flip my second protocol for Eternal variant which allows me to elect to Hold Steady or set to defend and in the command phase my go start heals goes up to nine wounds can't Scarab heals goes up three wounds my ghost Arc is going to spend that command point that I just earned he's going to attempt to bring back D6 models too Warrior unit rather than D3 so there's one oh it's six it's pretty good it's a six that's all the guys coming back next up I'm going to use my warlord my warlord has a resurrection or the unit of lichgard in front of him which are currently missing a few models so I'm going to roll 16 dice I I'm getting one technomancer brings the guy back okay so I'm going to give my will be done Buffs out so I will give one to the Lich guard and I'm going to give one to the score packs behind I'm a flyer fly radio these guys are going to Scuttle nothing all too special in Michael's moving face however I am a little bit worried because he picked up all of those warriors with that technomancer and this is teleported all over the board and so I am definitely definitely going to redirect what I have to accomplish in my turn then I'm gonna go to shooting phase ghost dark is going to fire rapid fire into your you like that yep number five so on threes because of armor contempts I take two whole damage excellent destroyers I'm gonna fire everything those dudes depending on threes re-rolling ones oh baby uh so four UPS uh one goes through nope uh three damage yeah so you cut one so uh two more uncovered on fours two more on cover okay uh both go through so the first one kills a guy and then the second one takes one loot Big Shot uh misses but re-rolls because he's a destroyer and he's still this is he misses he didn't want to do it he just doesn't want it today over here we're gonna fire the Lord is gonna put all of his shots into the ancient yeah yeah everything's going into the ancient gauze is hitting on twos okay so Force one booster E3 damage or one and then we'll take staff so these are hitting on twos any sixes or two extra hits threes so three wounds minus two so threes good five six are gonna go into your Assault Squad those six guys can shoot your assaults and then we'll figure out what can shoot okay sounds good hitting on threes putting into your salts assault so there's three guys touching cover there on trees how many warriors do you think can do it because oh you tell me the range is 12 and these six shot here yeah I think you'll get another six okay uh and they'll you'll be online yeah here we go on freeze uh take one Loop technomancer he will fire your yes uh four or threes pardon me string first charge is gonna be the scorpex into your sanguine or the sanguinora look at him go and then I'm gonna do the overlord into your yeah I mean just you just in there yeah and then I'm gonna try my Warriors into your Tactical Marines yeah hole and the Warriors fail to charge oh no I mean wait yeah yes yes oh man I almost felt bad for you there Michael I did but then I didn't Merry Christmas let's go to combat phase where I'm going to select my score effects first okay so three of the guys with the duel are going to go into your sanguinor just to confirm it and one of the double and one of the regulars are going into your your uh foreign but I am though uh going to spend uh two command points only in death just do the end okay I'm gonna finish with the yeah you finish what you're gonna do the other ones are going into your secretary guards yeah two yeah that checks out okay uh extra attack they all hit here big one is re-rolling ones and they all hits these are on threes these drawing twos yeah those level one all of them so these are four minus three at two damage top and two minus four at three damage pop armor of contempt yeah ooh baby uh I'm gonna spend a CPN I'm going to try and save one of them okay CP reroll does not no man loose three and then the other guys yeah you're just gonna ice the squad wow so we'll see how many of them fight it's one for us I get two fights out of them these two here so one ax and one sword into the uh into the Lich guard so an ax on twos nope sword yep on threes is there yeah uh what's what is that's two damage they put minus three okay great and then the uh sanguin or gets to attack okay which is dope he's the sangreneurs are gonna crank every single one every single uh yeah let's start on twos uh sixes or Mortals the white Village guard uh yeah next up kingu okay yeah you betcha four attacks uh minus one because of my Angelic visitors whoa whoa oh no nice yeah I actually am going to go into the into the Destroyers um here we go threes make two appointments okay that's it turn my chair now I have scored I've killed the unit but I've only killed two so far because you just couldn't die here at the end of Michael's turn two Michael scores Five Points on secondaries for killing a unit melee good for him good for him [Music] moving on to turn two for Steve uh going into that command phase Steve scores 12 points I did I did score 12 points didn't I I scored 12 points on the primary objective so here we go Christmas time treatment explode [Music] this one is apparently just for Nick it's for you Nick and it is from Peril uh sorry Pavel Baron I picked one point on the battlefield all units within three inches of the point take D3 mortal wounds score one Victory point for each model destroyed Silent Night kill two units in the shooting phase and kill two units in the fight phase score 10 victory points and that is from Ethan points this explosion one just goes off okay so I'm just gonna get points which is sweet at all units say D3 so this unit there takes one the scarabs five or six yeah six now I'm just going to continue the thing is is yours are so much more like it's a two and twos it hasn't been good he's gonna match a mantra of strength himself mechanical of Rage that she doesn't get asterath is really awesome but he only recites on a three up and damn it I gotta just keep putting the pressure on this death company is going to jump inside the church here right in the middle of the church yeah because then you can charge you can't shoot me yeah okay I mean I'm gonna try and go over here somewhere what's great about this turn is that all my reserves come in all of them and I am really excited about that all right let me tell you I'm just gonna pause for a second pause I'm so excited that my reserves are coming in right now because if if if if I make all these charges I think Michael's in a lot of trouble yep I think Michael's in a lot of trouble just so angry yeah there's so much Christmas let's see what happens I guess I'm also gonna start an action to eat this cookie I don't know if that's the right play and it's probably not the right play but damn it I kind of want to eat this cookie all right so psychic phase got not a shooting phase let's do it I shred the storm Bolter into the Go star on fives and I go down to eight I shoot uh the four bolt guns from here into the Destroyers okay they stood still so angels of death triggers in we go on fives one wound David Mazz one nope yeah take that and then uh here I go uh one uh frag grenade and three bolt pistols into the scarabs so bull pistols two hits is nothing nope uh Freight grenade uh D6 shots trees wounding on Force nothing uh these guys shoot everything into here uh so uh heavy Boulder which I walked around with on threes I love it he gets back up yeah guy dies this guy is sure over here uh storm vulture and a melted gun a melt again freeze I don't wound a guy oh no there's three wounds maybe minus one your shooting phase isn't very good oh no two drops come back there's no more right a church face so the uh death company dude in the building there just charges out of the building okay faces yeah right there uh then the assault Marines yep this is what happens when you roll like Steve you just have to get so close that it doesn't matter those dudes over there though they need an eight because of my plus one because I'm blood angels come on baby assault Marines and death comedy make those charges those Locust destroyers are super surrounded and Michael is super sad ass draft is gonna bust into these guys okay let's do it seven eight yeah and then the assault Marines here go into this girls yeah I'm doing it I'm doing it go tactical Marines just getting the hell in there so the big guys in the back uh Thunder Hammer guy okay uh two two hits twos uh two wounds AP minus two four Swords fours five make one fail one that's one dead and then you get six at minus one so these are four UPS yeah I get one back the last Thunder Hammer guy is gonna go so the singular dude here we go on twos come on now oh looking for fives nope three damage kills me uh so uh yeah these guys here are just yeah uh power fist guy is gonna go first okay yikes so six goes right through so you're killing one base two bases and I get one back okay after that uh the Tactical Marines get to go freeze annoyingly pissed I lost you you wear these two I do not wow let's just get back up yeah hilarious I got astronaut and I will spend my one command point that I have for whirling blade making minus one to bloom two minus three three down six up so they're still under my would be done so still hitting on twos we're rolling ones and these are the same uh these are on threes these are in twos okay oh my God one if he has an inborn tape he does yeah so whatever your involent save is and if you fail it he did I have a five up he died because it's a Christmas miracle yes we're gonna go into we're gonna go into the score packs uh so yeah into the scoreboard nope all right and then the king will try and kill you do something please well not like that it's the spirit of Christmas what the hell is happening here it's the spirit of Christmas it's happening what is happening here oh yes what in the world is going on it's the spirit of Christmas all I can feel is hot wax uh and then the Warriors just pound into the yeah six nine on threes you need it and fours I've got four at no rent for you sir all right three UPS here we go one guy takes one whole wounds oh I gotta fight with my scarabs translate to four wounds so far Es are mad at you dude yeah they're pissed what did you do oh my God they're really mad at you wow what the I'm gonna get rid of silent silent night I don't think that it's uh it's what I need or what I want yeah we're gonna get rid of that sorry it was a cool one but we are kicking it to the curb there's no way I'm pulling that off I scored two points on my secondaries this turn zero CP for both players at the end of this turn and uh 16 victory points for Steve and 13 victory points for Michael [Music] all right all righty here at the beginning of turn three both players gain one command Point Michael earns eight victory points for his primary objective don't fail me and also Aaron mathematically better Christmas one infantry from your army May perform an action on an objective in no man's land achieve the objective at the end of your turn so this turn my command protocol is going to be conquering Tyrant and in this particular one I'm going to select directive two which allows units to fall back ah and shoot but UB minus one or I'll be minus one I will heal so this guy heals this guy heals this guy heals it's like about a plus one two hit on those guys and I'm gonna give a plus one to hit on the necron Warriors as well you had killed a warrior well guess what he just comes back with the resurrection he comes back with the technomancer and then we go into the movement phase these Warriors are gonna fall back that checks out Michael chooses to fall back with the Warriors to go Stark and the Locust destroyers all of them are falling back uh which means that I have Michael on his heels we're gonna go into the shooting phase I'm gonna fight with the two wins first let's get that out of the way hitting on trees so the guy that is not in cover so three UPS good good there he is so this guy dies okay and then uh this guy here starts taking two ups because of the barricade so twos good good yeah there's one guy takes one wound two up death and then three up three up um I'm gonna shoot him in the comments so he is going to fire with the gods so these are hitting on threes District Six nope these are the Tesla shots so these are hitting on twos because it's an assault weapon and we need three that's better 3x the Warriors over here are gonna put everything they have into the um all right um these are hitting you on uh they were my will be done actually so threes goes there fours goes back to threes nope got 16 wounds at minus two so let's get so far through it uh four UPS right three ups for you oh it's not an armor content right uh there's one model uh I'm gonna shoot stab away another one yeah I am going to shoot my ghost Arc okay he's gonna put all of his shots into the singular dude here we are so chips so before this game started I asked Nick I was like hey do you have any advice going into this game and he was something something something split fire uh rear-rolling ones and do another one so I got two hits threes so fours I make a mouse uh one to start going here yeah okay threes goes to four threes we got two wounds at minus three can you not though okay thank you okay so the first guy takes thoroughly right yeah the sergeant list the two guys one more destroyer and the heavy going into these guys okay so Destroyer the regular one a threes the two and then the heavy I'm gonna do he fails and I that's not worth it you and I both know that's not worth it don't get desperate I'm not gonna take advice from Steve yeah I should have taken Steve's advice just wax me already do you have no CP no no I wasn't gonna use uh why are they good there's four wires six I feel no pain one damage and you hear anything oh no no that would just be the icing on the cake if you did it yeah that would just be the perfect icing to end this we will go to the charge phase yeah I'm going to charge from here to here so this thing oh yeah um snake eyes what yeah is it year of Mike if there was a table and it wasn't bolted to the floor I would be flipping it right now Christmas spirit get out of here oh Michael fails is charging his no CP for a re-roll honestly it's Christmas and all but I told you not to re-roll that one that happened that happened everybody it happened we're going to ongoing combats and we just got one so can we murk him before he gets murdered asterath kills those Locust destroyers making a fairly short work of it all right well that's it that's it for my turn do you get any of your second years I do not because I couldn't do anything no secondaries are scored and Michael discards the secondary to do an action in no man's land uh we each gained one command point oh good wow I eat this cookie for three points my action completes and I eat that cookie for three whole points it tastes like Victory and uh I also score four points for controlling only one primary objective Mantra of strength fires off on astrath but the Litany of hate fails boo okay here we go here we go barricade The Toy Factory if no enemy models are in your deployment Zone score this secondary at the beginning of your command step sick out of here cookies and milk each player nominates a unit to be carrying the milk a non-character unit when that unit is destroyed your opponent gains five victory points which [Music] the milk carrying tactical Squad advances and hides I gotta hold that thing to the end of the game those the milk is mine it's mine [Music] I'm back here come back okay great shooting time here I will go full gun in here and heavy vulture into the um two guys in the back okay so heavy Boulder into the guys in the back on for us Force oh shoot yeah we're still waiting no he's done oh he gets back up yep damn Bull guns into the Warriors from the Dreadnought a two loose nope all these guys shoot the um crack grenade of course nope goes through D3 or two bolt runs so he's wrecking them one crack grenade will go into the Destroyers okay yeah from there to there hits on threes oh D3 or what from the five-man death company squad one of them will crack grenade the bats okay it's on Forest yep so then uh yeah we go to charge it all right this guy here charges into them yeah we'll watch one command point for that OverWatch sweet sweet OverWatch two moves no red uh so three hours one guy takes one wow and then uh here he goes yep he does and then astrath follows he does yay tactical Marines head into here I do uh the Dreadnought goes in hey she's gonna move so I'm a good channel on the base uh the death company on the other side of the uh pull this area going to there okay [Music] the assault Marines go into your scarabs with a five yeah Thunder Hammer guys going into them okay there he goes the rhino charge is the thing of course it does oh we're not done 12. we ain't done we ain't done with this attacked with Marines so baby on three three drops [Music] so the Furioso fists yep on twos poor guy what do they do okay it's a champ about it let's see it uh freeze yeah I am gonna spend my CP here and we roll one so three three a B minus Force okay it's a three drop and make a goddamn Resurrection save do you actually you're powerful Sergeant killed two of them I know that he can yeah but it's will he will so on fours okay if I get both twos they drop third and asterath wipes out the tomb blades we'll start with the death gummy so so on Force on twos the death company kill those scarabs as well uh so these two guys on twos he's good over there okay so and the other death company unit kills the Locust destroyers and at this time the writing is on the wall or the writing is on Michael's chest for he must conceive the roles yeah and you know honestly those are the rules you know who I Blame You Know Who You blame Dr Vancouver who I still have not killed up so we're calling it here at the end of turn three here at the end of turn three uh we're taking a look at the board taking a look at the score and you know what we're deciding that we just need to shake hands uh it was a well thought game by both of us but it looks as though the blood angels have really hemmed in the necrons and there is just no way out and what that means is that for Michael and his chest hair there is also no way out you know hey you know what Mary Mary Mary waxmas wax things for everyone wait here in the holiday season I would just like to extend a gigantic and
