we have at least a little bit of good news this month one thing is at the very high end the RTX 4090 is now in stock closer to its MSRP now granted this is going to affect a tiny fraction of a tiny percent of the market because most people aren't going to be spending 600 to 1700 on a GPU but at least you can find them actually in stock at the 16 to 1700 price point I did check the actual websites not just PC part picker they are actually in stock at these prices which is cool to see for people looking for the most powerful GPU on the market currently nothing does stand up against the 4090 if you have the budget you have the pay case size and the power supply um and you want this really only makes sense for 4K especially 4K High refresh rate gaming that kind of thing um but most people are going to be buying at the much lower end and we could take a look at the RTX 3050 and I'm going to tell you why you shouldn't buy this as soon as we hear from today's sponsor excited to tell you about today's sponsor private internet access their VPN now what does a VPN do it it can encrypt your data around it through another server as you connect to the Internet so it thinks you're coming from somewhere else this can help you in a variety of ways but I want to show you guys I'm trying to watch Shawshank Redemption on Netflix right here one of the highest reviewed movies of all time but I can't it's not here but I have friends who can watch it because they're in other countries a lot of streaming services including Netflix but many other ones region lock content I first experienced this visiting my sister in Canada where suddenly I could see a whole bunch of stuff I couldn't in the US and vice versa couldn't access this well private internet access can make you act like you are connecting to this from other countries gain access to a wide variety of content this can also help with sports that can get region locked where they they have a blackout on streaming in the local area because they want you to buy tickets you can also get access to certain deals online things like that that are only available but again uh private internet access available through the link in my description at piavpn.com Daniel Owen if you use that link you can get up to 83 off and four months free that's just 203 per month click the link in the description below back to our regular programming all right the RDX 3050 is currently nvidia's lowest and current generation graphics card the 4000 series is out but not at this budget segment and I don't expect it to come in at this price segment or 30 you know 40 50 class for a while current rumors point to uh well let me put it this way we've got a 40 90 a 4080 and 40 70 TI and they seem to release in descending order so next we would expect a 40 70 in current rumors point to April no confirmation on that so it'll be a while to uh until we get a 40 70 price on that'll probably be pretty high already so in other words for the low to mid-range the 3000 Series is currently in videos um current generation and the RTX 3050 is still coming in around 280 dollars at its cheapest new pricing however if you were willing to take a look at a couple of options first of all uh Intel has reduced the price on their Arc A7 50. now I am still not going to give this my overall recommendation but I will say The Arc a750 in most situations when you're not dealing with any of the they're new to the market they're they're drivers their software is not as mature you could run into some issues with that but I think Intel is beating Nvidia here in terms of price to Performance if you can deal with the software headaches that might come along with it however um AMD is coming in with the RX 6600 at 230 dollars so less than both of those and it's extremely competitive the 6600 is better than the 3050. um in gaming and it's very competitive with The Arc a750 and has more mature software support now I have not retested the arc series on its latest driver update which has offered significant performance but this uh chart from Tech testers which I found on videocards.com did just come out so you can dive into this video if you're interested but this is on the latest drivers which Arc has significantly improved but they have the RX 6600 basically tied you know it depends on the game but an overall three percent lead in the games they tested so basically timed with the a750 but the a750 ahead by nine percent at 1440p which is interesting and both of these would be ahead of the uh of the um RTX 3050. however here's what I'm going to mention if you go up to the RX 6600 XT version you gain almost 20 percent over the 6600 non-xt and the price is still only at 260 dollars here so we're talking basically the same price as the a750 but if it was tied with the um with the non-xt version the XT version should now be ahead so I still think that AMD actually has the price to Performance win right now in this budget segment so I'm still not going to recommend the The Arc GPU especially because amd's software is um going to be more mature their drivers more mature support better support of older games those are the main downsides to Arc right now and um the other thing though is some of you guys are just gonna be like I'm just going to buy Nvidia no matter what so let's talk about this uh so some people should buy Nvidia um mostly for their uh productivity sport you know there's their software support there's a lot of productivity apps that are just Nvidia has the largest smart GPU market share so if you're designing your app you're going to design it to you know put your effort into supporting the widest range of Hardware that most people has so that's one reason why you'd want to buy Nvidia is for those productivity professional use cases although some apps do support Intel and AMD very well so you can definitely look into your particular applications you need um other advantages for NVIDIA is you know dlss is a little bit better than fsr2 but the Gap has closed it was a lot better than fsr1 fsr2 is getting a lot closer and then Ray tracing Nvidia is still about a generation uh ahead on Ray tracing however if you're talking this lower performance class you would be wise to turn Ray tracing off anyway instead of cranking out the maximum Graphics settings it would make more sense to optimize graphic settings uh in order to reach higher frame rates in which case Ray tracing will usually be the number one thing that you would turn off uh to gain performance back so um at this price point I do think AMD makes a lot of sense uh some people talk about driver stability issues I you know it's hard to quantify that um I don't have a lot of issues with them in any of my testing but you know I have a few issues with any GPU hey let's go ahead and move up the price stack a little bit so but but to be clear um I'm saying the RX 66 6600 or 6650 they're going to perform about the same and a lot of times they're priced about the same right now the 6650x is coming in um at about the same price but relies on a 20 mail-in rebate whereas the 6600 non-xt um did not require the mail-in rebate to hit that price point um but these are basically the same performance they're off by maybe a couple percent the 6650 XD has a little bit faster memory speeds that's about it I don't have the 50 version to test myself anyway but we're getting the 6600 50 XT the price to Performance winner and this is going to be great for 1080p gaming and you can play 1440p a lot of times you'll want to reduce the settings a bit especially as we get into a more demanding current uh you know current generation console only type of games that sort of a thing anyway um so let's move up uh you know with the next Nvidia class the next Nvidia class would be the RTX 3060 and I while this is a huge jump in performance from the RTX 3050 I still think that if you're talking price to Performance it's going to get beat by AMD again here um you know also again the arc a770 is another option but once again I think AMD um well Arc is able to offer better price to Performance than Nvidia I think if you look at the 6700 XT from AMD you're going to see it priced very similarly to the RTX 3060 but just beat it in performance they both have 12 gigabytes of vram so that's not an advantage one way or the other uh the 3060 will have a bit better Ray tracing performance but if you're um you know again this is a performance class where I'm not going to be particularly swayed by Ray tracing performance especially as we get into newer more demanding titles I think once again this will be a place uh where you'd be more likely wanting to optimize settings to get the best frame rates which might leave Ray tracing off the table um so for me the 6700 XT is the obvious choice over the 3060. um and so if we're and and this is also where I'd say that these gpus make sense for really good 1080p performance and good 1440p performance not great 1440p performance in the most demanding new games although in less demanding or older games great 1440p performance Now The Next Step Up from uh Nvidia would be the 3060 TI and these you can find for around 400 and these are going to be the first Nvidia GPU where I'm going to say that the price to Performance is actually starting to be somewhat competitive against AMD and if you're value conscious you might want to go with it although I understand in all of these Prime product classes some people will just have a certain brand that they're looking for okay anyway 30 60s are about 400 right now uh in non-ray tracing performance they're gonna go very similar to the 6700 XT although a lot of times the 6700 XT will be a little bit faster also the 6700 XT has 50 more vram it has 12 gigabytes versus eight gigabytes and the 6700 XT costs less money however um if you're wanting to go the Nvidia route to get a bit better Ray tracing performance but a little less vram get the better uh you know product this is the software stack right with productivity apps and um you know dlss that kind of a thing maybe paying this extra fifty dollars here uh to get the 36 DTI could be justified um in some purchasing decisions also the 3060 TI is getting fast enough that especially at 1080p uh the ray tracing performance might not be something to completely ignore and again this will be another GPU that can do 1440p for sure but might be wanting to upscale or turn down settings or both in the most demanding titles now moving up from here the next step up from Nvidia is the RTX 3070 and I don't think it makes any sense to purchase it's at 545 dollars at the cheapest right now uh which is still above its original MSRP um it's still only an eight gigabyte graphics card which isn't always a huge deal but you'd like to get a little bit more for that price especially in 2023 uh games can be using a quite a bit of vram and the main problem is that the RX 6800 non-xt from AMD is currently coming in at 40 uh 480 so the four the the uh 6800 comes with 16 gigabytes of vram so double the vram it does have worse Ray tracing performance although sometimes Ray tracing actually brings up the vram usage to where you might see some issues with the eight gigabytes on the 3070 especially at higher resolutions but in general the 6800 is just faster uh and costs less money so that's pretty hard to ignore and then if you actually do want to go up to closer to the price of the 3070 the 6800 XT while currently right now at this moment I'm seeing the cheapest model around 600 I will mention that it frequently becomes available uh for closer to 520 to 550 dollars in other words around the same price as a 30 70. um here I post a lot of the deals I see that I know will go out of stock quicker on my Community page and I did recently see them for around 520 to 550 multiple times over the last month so definitely something to consider and the 6800 XT is going to be noticeably faster than the 6800 non-xd all right so basically in the 500 uh price point I'm going to recommend the 6800 or the XT version when it's available at its better pricing at current pricing that I'm seeing today brand new it's looking like the 6800 non XT is the better price to performance at 480 dollars no if we wanted to go up to the next Nvidia GPU it would be a 3070 TI and those are coming in looks like around 630 dollars right now and I would say that if it costs the same or more than a 6800 XT um the 6800 XT is probably the better way to go again eight gigabytes versus 16 gigabytes uh just faster overall rasterized performance um you know how much are you willing to pay for that little bit better Ray tracing and slightly better looking upscaling it becomes um a bit a bit of a stretch here I think when these cost the same and again if you you could also even consider the 6800 at 480 versus the 3070 TI at over six hundred dollars and look at that performance as well uh and yeah so basically I'm saying if you want a solid 500 ish uh for it's very solid 1440p gaming High refresh rate 1080p gaming reduced settings but possible 4K gaming I think the 6800 slash XT are making the most sense here now if you go up to uh the RTX 3080 these are just not in stock at reasonable prices new anymore the RDX 3080 in stock new is in the 900 to a thousand dollar range and it just no longer makes any sense and this is also true of the 3090s and 3090 TI's Brian buying them new just no longer makes sense this video is focusing on the new market so I'll point you to if you were interested in an Nvidia GPU in the 500-ish range that actually offered good performance I think you'd have to look at the used Market on the 3080 um but again this video is focusing more on the new market now in the new market then the next step up that's not the 80 90 class 30 series which are just not in stock at good prices anymore is the RTX 4070 TI the RTX 4070 TI comes in at 800 and it is in stock at its MSRP of 800 fairly frequently um including right now it does offer better performance than a 3080 it has 12 gigabytes of vram which you know it would be nice to have more but isn't at least currently frequently causing any problems and then um but what could you get as a competitor to this I will mention that amd's 6950 XT does come in at 700 pretty frequently including right now now I don't have a 6750 XT uh to uh sorry not 6750 69 50 XT uh to test myself right now but I will say in terms of price to Performance I think the 6800 and 60 800 XT are better value well the 6950 XT is actually faster if I go somewhere here like Tech powerups relative performance chart uh they list the 6950 XT is about 16 faster than a 6800 XT so I'm just saying that I don't think the 6950 XT is offering us crazy value at 700 um but it is an interesting option to consider um in that kind of in between price point so I guess if I'm saying if I'm jumping from 500 dollars uh to eight hundred dollars something should fall in between I think as far as new gpus go um before we get to the 4070 TI the 6950 XT makes the most sense at 700 if you want a step up from the 6800 um but not spend as much as a 40 70 TI now the 4070 TI is um a very good GPU it's just overpriced but in the current market I say overpriced compared to you know the value we were seeing at the cheaper cheaper models but in the current market what can compete with it that's kind of the problem we have the 7900 uh from AMD for some reason this 2060 pops up on PC part picker the 7900 XT is msrped at 900 currently available around 880 and I even saw them dip as low as 830 dollars this week if they came in at the same price as a 40 70 TI you might start considering it the 7900 XT will be faster in rasterized performance in most cases it also has more vram with 20 Gigabytes instead of 12. um once you start turning on Ray tracing uh then it starts either evening out or in more demanding Ray tracing the 4070 TI winning and then once you um uh a lot totally lost my train of thought guys oh yeah and then um currently AMD does not have a competitor to dlss3 one thing with the 4000 theories series from Nvidia is you do get dlss3 the FPS numbers you see from that can be misleading because the the frames you get from dlss3 are not as good as a real frame because they're generated the game engine's not aware of them they don't help the responsiveness of the game and they don't always look as good as normal frames however that being said I'm overall very positive about dlss3 it can help you out help out the motion fluidity of a game especially in CPU limited situations things like that it can be a very interesting and good feature and AMD has promised a competitor to it uh with fsr3 but we've currently been told it'll come out sometime this year but that's about all we know and we don't know how good it will look because already a dlss3 can be kind of borderline in some games on on its image quality um so we'll we'll have to see how fsr3 goes anyway I actually have to say that that means that at the 800 price point I do think the 4070 TI is unfortunately the best choice and I think it's still offering a better deal than the 7900 XT uh now if you want to go up to the uh the next choice from Nvidia you've got the RTX 4080 they are available at their MSRP of twelve hundred dollars or very close to it for a number of models the closest AMD competitor to this is the 7900 XTX the XTX models have an MSRP of 1000 but are actually in stock closer to eleven hundred dollars making them about a hundred dollars cheaper than the 4080. this is at least a competitive um this is a it's a competitive competition is that what I'm going to say here um you'll want to make your own decision here I think I would buy the 4080 I would pay the extra hundred dollars for the 4080. yes it has less vram but 16 gigabytes I think for most use cases is plenty um overall the 7900 XTX is often a few percent faster it when not using Ray tracing but it's close enough that you you'd struggle to tell the difference and then when you do enable Ray tracing in more demanding Ray tracing tasks the for uh the 4080 becomes enough faster that you would notice the difference so I guess what I'm saying is if um if the lead for the 7900 XTX without Ray tracing is hardly noticeable but the lead win Ray tracing is able for the 4080 I think that becomes the choice that might make more sense also you're hitting a performance tier where Ray tracing is definitely usable it's even usable on the 7900 XTX which can often match the 3080 or the 3090 like previous generation high-end Nvidia gpus in Ray tracing performance but again I think the 4080 with uh a little better looking dlss2 looks a little better than than fsr2 you have dlss3 without a current competition better Ray tracing performance only slightly worth rasterized performance and when we're already talking eleven hundred dollars I think spending 100 more um to twelve hundred dollars for most people in this price point isn't going to be that big of a deal um so I think I've got to go with the 4080 as my recommendation here and I already said at the beginning of the video past this point you've got the 4090 and the good news is um they're no longer selling at two thousand dollars the bad news is they're still selling at 16 to 1700 hope this video uh was interesting for you guys if you're wondering like should I just hold out for for newer gpus all of that prices to come down I do think prices will slowly come down and we'll get um newer generation gpus but I think like I said the 40 70 is the next rumored um uh Nvidia GPU and that's not rumored until April um and we would expect the 4060 TI and 4060 to at least come in similar or even later um and then we've heard no real solid rumors from AMD at least that I've I you know I cover this on my channel I haven't seen any uh rumor date for for something uh cheaper from AMD so yeah I'm I don't know guys I wish the GPU Market was in a better place but I've got to say like I said the 66 166 50 XTS um at this um Mid 200 range Some solid 1080p performance and and that um 6800 at 480. um those are the standouts to me right now um in the uh in the current uh new GPU Market what do you guys think let me know in the comments I hope all of you have an excellent day
