hey folks what i've got here is mission 77 of battle box and we're going to check it out right now on kit bashed survival [Music] all right so there was a bit of a delay in getting this video out because last week i was a bit under the weather and i lost my voice for a few days but anyway you'll notice there's no box with this mission and that's because the box was destroyed by water now that's not the fault of the folks at battlebox that was the fault of the weather when the ups guy dropped mission 77 off at my house i wasn't at home and at that time the weather was fine it was nice and sunny well about an hour later a big thunderstorm rolled in and completely soaked the box and by the time i got home a few hours later everything was soaked in water and i had to take everything apart and let it dry out for a couple days and of course the box was ruined so that's why there's no box anyway let's go ahead and get started so here's the mission briefing for mission 77 or what's left of it after it got wet and i had to hang it out to dry so for those of you unfamiliar with battle box it's a subscription box service that delivers sort of outdoor hunting bushcraft survival type gear once a month there are four levels of battle box there's the basic box the advanced box the pro box and the pro plus box which is the knife of the month all right so there are three items in the basic box for mission 77 and here's the first item nothing too exciting just some knife pivot lube the ultimate knife oil smooths and protects pocket knife action made for knives so yeah just some basic oil for lubing up your pocket knife there it is and so of course what you would do is open it up here's a knife and just put some oil [Music] down there and get it nice and lubed up so that it gets nice smooth action that's all there is to it so yeah kpl knife pivot lube all right next up in the basic box we've got this quick cord military inspired outdoor gear made in usa exclusive battle box edition so it's a built-in cutter a 12-hour emergency signal and tangle-free paracord so from what i've read it's like a cord organizer so that your paracord doesn't get tangled up and then it's also got a little light that attaches to it so let's crack it open there's the main body of it there's a paracord and of course there's our signal light we've got something rattling around on here i think it's the top of this thing so let's see i have no idea how to use this thing so we're just gonna figure it out as we go looks like the top here pops off somehow okay there we go and then that pops in there so i guess the cord comes out of here or here they don't really give you any interest well you scan here for instructions so i'm going to scan that and i'll be right back okay i read the instructions or rather i watched the instructional video and this thing's actually pretty cool so let's go ahead and set this up we're going to open up the chemical light here and we're also going to unravel this cord this is 550 paracord and you want to completely unravel it so what you do is take one end of the cord get that knot out of there and you run it through the inside of the quick cord thing and then you bring it out the other end like that and then you run it through this cap here place the cap on the end like that then you run it through the light so you run it through there and then you just tie a simple overhand knot right here it snaps in like that and the velcro goes on and secures the light in place like that and now my cat has decided to play with the other end of the chord chassis stop all right now on this end it says you just stack the cord into the container you don't want to stack too much at once and you just push it down there and it'll naturally stack all right i've got all the cord crammed down in there and supposedly what you do is take the other end thread it through the end cap and then put the end cap on without catching on the cord inside there we go and then you can lock it by putting it in that smaller hole there and there we go it's ready for you so how do you use it well if you want to use the cord you just pull here and you pull out whatever length you want come down here to the cord cutter and cut the cord pretty cool and then whatever you don't use you can tuck in this little groove right here although i'm not sure how secure it's going to be in there yeah like that so that's how you access the cord now on the other end you've got the light and what you do is you crack the light and you could use it as just a regular light hanging there but what you can do if you want to is pull the cord out with the light activated and then twirl it around and you've got a buzz saw light going on that'll really get someone's attention i don't have the space here to do the buzz saw effect but i think you probably know what i mean pull the cord out lock it in place and then we re you know spinning around kind of like crocodile dundee making that phone call and that'll get someone's attention so that's pretty cool so you got free cord coming out this end that you can cut off and tuck right here and then you've got the cord going to a signal here that you can make a buzz saw signal out of really pretty cool i like it the quick cord not bad at all made in usa too and then the final item in the basic box for mission 77 is a book the extreme weather survival manual 214 tips for surviving nature's worst and miraculously even though the entire box was soaked by that rainstorm the book was okay don't ask me how but it's just got survival tips for all sorts of weather conditions pretty cool up next we've got the advanced box and for mission 77 there's only one item in the advanced box and it's this the rest tube beach it's an emergency flotation buoy and it's meant to be worn around your wrist or around your waist or what have you and if you're in or on the water you can use this if you get into trouble so the way it works is that inside the pouch here there's the flotation buoy that's all folded up and then there's this co2 cartridge that is plugged into it and then when you pull the string it pierces the co2 cartridge and inflates the buoy now i had to repack this because it was all wet because of the rain and so i had to dry it out and i repacked it and i hope it's all in there correctly i did arm it with the co2 cartridge so we're going to close this up and we're going to go ahead and pull this string and see if this thing activates hopefully it will i've only got one chance at this because i don't have a refill co2 cartridge on hand so let's go ahead and pull it and find out all right i've zoomed out a bit because i don't know how big this thing is going to get and i have to admit i'm a little nervous because i just don't know if this thing's going to work at all and if it does work i don't know how loud it's going to be or what's going to happen so we're going to go ahead and find out now if this doesn't work it's only because i didn't pack it right there are other videos on youtube where you can see this thing working correctly but anyway all right here goes nothing one two three [Laughter] it worked still inflating a little bit it actually worked all right so there you are the rest tube more freedom and water safety restube.com and they give you instructions for repacking it so i will order another co2 cartridge i think there's a coupon in the box for another co2 cartridge i'm not sure but yeah darn thing worked so you can see there it's got a little tested stamp there so they did test this at one point now to deflate this thing well first you're gonna undo the co2 cartridge get that out of there and then you pop this little thing here and there's a little spring valve in here and you press it and it'll start deflating and you deflate it all the way fold it back up as per the instructions re-arm it with another co2 cartridge and you're good to go so very cool the rest to beach i like it next up we've got the pro box and once again there's only one item in the pro box for mission 77 and it's this the cali moha pincho or pancho reversible blanket 80 by 55 inches packable lightweight and warm now you may get one of three colors in your battle box this is the maui blue and slate there's also carotene and sage and asphalt and lime which is kind of a green so basically there's blue red and green and then there's another color on the other side now a few missions ago battle box gave us a cali loja camping chair and i took it on a camping trip and it worked really well so so far i've had good experiences with things made by cali loja anyway let's go ahead and open it up now the specs on this are 80 by 55 inches like i already said 650 fill 100 duck down teflon coated rip stop and reversible it's probably got an integrated bag into the blanket that's how these things usually work but maybe not let's see yeah the bag is integrated into the blanket which is always good so yeah this is the maui blue and slate and it feels you know it feels like a sleeping bag that you would take backpacking it's got that rip stop nylon on there and down on the inside of course being down you really don't want to get it wet so i'm not sure why they call this the pincho or poncho that sort of implies that it's some sort of rain gear in my opinion at least and you certainly don't want to get down wet but anyway feels really good my hands all warm on the inside now so i like it you can always use a good camping blanket so there it is don't forget unless you're the consumer under penalty of law this tag is not to be removed and just in case you didn't know keep it away from fire oh it's got little button snaps right there that's cool so you probably could use this as a sleeping bag too as well as a blanket albeit a fairly warm weather sleeping bag there we go the cali loja pinchot reversible blanket not bad i like it and lastly we've got the pro plus box which is the knife of the month and for mission 77 we've got a tops knife well you'll never hear me complaining if there's a knife made by tops in my battle box this is the tops poker got the little belt loops there i like how they have the tops logo on the belt loops there it is i can see why it's called the poker ah very cool tops poker made in usa of course let's see here one weekend while working on a leather sheath project tops general manager craig powell came up with the idea to make a kadashi hope i'm saying that right style knife with a sort of chisel ground blade that he could use specifically for cutting leather and other things around the house craig had also attended a couple of marshall blades concept classes with local instructor adam boyce of spartan mode so of course he realized that it would make a solid self-defense tool at this point the design was tweaked to include a finger ring with a narrow tip and straight edge making many useful cuts easy the blade can handle any edc task but can also be used for self-defense in a pinch the handle has a perfect radius which makes the knife comfortable to hold in forward or reverse grips the beta loop on the kydex sheath is easy to remove and repositioned so that the knife can be carried appendix scout horizontal vertical iwb owb and even strap to molly gear or packs so whatever reason you decide to carry it you'll find the poker is up to the task now a good reverse grip there yeah now it doesn't say what kind of steel it is in the description but being tops i would guess it's probably 10.95 i think that's what they usually use and if that's not what they usually use i'm sure somebody is going to scream at me in the comments but i think tops usually uses 1095 steel so i would guess that that's what this is [Music] very cool i like it alright so here's all the stuff from battle box mission 77 overall a pretty solid mission is it my favorite mission ever no but is it solid yeah sure so let me know what you think in the comments below for now that's it i'm eric siegel this is kit bashed survival thanks for watching and i'll see you next time
