BattlBox - Mission 75

hey everybody what i've got here is mission 75 of battlebox and we're going to check it out right now on kit bashed survival so just like i say every month battlebox is a subscription box service that delivers sort of bushcraft outdoor hunting survival type of gear and you know these type of boxes aren't for everybody i don't get these boxes because i need the gear inside the gear that i need i already have i get these just because it's fun to see what you get in the box each month and as it says on the front of the box battle box survival and tactical gear delivered monthly that's what it's all about so let's go ahead and open up mission 75 and also just like i say every time if you don't like these type of boxes you don't have to get them so there's the mission briefing so they got a nice picture on the front and inside they tell you what's in each level of battle box so there are four levels there's the basic box the advanced box the pro box and then the pro plus box which is the knife of the month so we'll start off by taking a look at what's in the basic box for mission 75 so first up we've got the beyond bungie trek rope lock tie-down tool multitask with seven tools non-slip grip okay so let's see what it says about this in the brochure always there when you need to secure a load pry a rusty nail out of the fence or need an extra hand with eight tools and a thousand plus uses you'll be hard-pressed to find a pocket-sized multi-tool more useful than the trek rope lock tie-down tool whether it's the outdoors home maintenance or tethering down items in the back of your truck the trek gets the job done no more rummaging around for several tools when you have your loyal all-in-one compact sidekick at the palm of your hand made with stainless steel to prevent rusting and rated at 150 pounds and they say the price is 19.99 [Music] okay so it's a rope tie-down tool that's its main function and we've got directions for it here and then it's got some other multi-tools as well so we've got the hook here that's part of the rope tie-down tool then we've got a phillips head screwdriver and a little hex wrench and then we've got this thing which has some screwdrivers a chisel bottle opener pretty interesting i guess this hook stores here so let's see here's the rope so here's the release press it like that and it comes out and then you pull that and it ratchets and tightens it so yeah pretty cool i guess if you were trying to tighten down a tarp or a load on your truck or something like that i don't know might come in handy it's kind of neat i'll have to play with this some more and see what i think about it but on the surface it seems like a pretty useful tool the beyond bungee trek rope tie-down tool now the rope tie-down thing i could see that being useful now these other multi-tools you know i guess that's just sort of in there for added value but i mean i always carry a swiss army knife with me so i probably wouldn't need these tools but it's nice that they're there and they are locking they do lock in place which is nice so yeah next up in the basic box we've got the wildly good lightweight merino wool crew socks so pretty self-explanatory medium large fits men's through 12 and women 10 through 14. now these i will actually use because when i go backpacking i always bring merino wool socks or smart wool socks and so these will come in very handy so yeah i like that very cool can always use an extra pair of wool socks it says the price on these is 17.95 and it's made from australian merino wool so yeah i like this very cool wildly good and next up in the basic box we've got some food this is the peak refuel premium freeze-dried chicken pesto pasta white chicken with ziti noodles in a creamy pesto sauce that sounds good 43 grams of protein per pouch two servings just add hot water all right i've never tried anything from peak refuel so let's go ahead and give it a taste test all right so it says to use two thirds a cup of boiling water so i've got about a cup of water in my jet boil go ahead and get it boiling [Applause] [Applause] there it is two-thirds of a cup doesn't seem like a whole lot for pasta but i guess we'll find out all right okay [Music] oh no maybe two thirds of a cup is the right amount it's pretty soupy in there now but hopefully that'll change so stir well zip pouch and let's stand for 10 minutes all right be right back all right so it's been about 15 minutes got a little sidetracked so let's take a look at what we have well all that water got sucked up that's good there it is in all its glory got some pasta and some chicken and pesto just like it says your taste hmm well it's not bad it's okay the flavor is good the pasta with the sauce by itself is good the chicken is um it's a little dry it's not the best texture with the chicken it's okay i mean it's freeze-dried chicken what are you gonna do but yeah i mean it's definitely good definitely edible i'll probably finish this whole thing i mean it's good so it's not too salty that's good nothing worse than getting one of these meals and having it be too salty it gets better with every bite it's really not bad at all peak refuel american fork utah made in usa so mountain house is my favorite brand of freeze-dried food pretty much everything they make is good but this is pretty darn good as well i don't know if i'd say it's as good as mount well it's different than mountain house it's a different consistency [Music] yeah i think i like this it's too bad i ate it today because i'm going on the 18 a couple weeks and it would have been nice to take this out with me but maybe i'll order some more of this i think there's a coupon for more inside the battle box so maybe i'll do that yeah good stuff and the last item in the basic box is a speed hook for pan fishing so this is one of those automated fishing devices for a survival situation kind of like a yo-yo reel and you set it up and then when the fish strikes it hooks the fish and it's there waiting for you in theory now in some states these are illegal to use unless it's a survival situation so it's definitely something you want to check your local laws and regulations for but again if it's a survival situation you can use something like this most of the time pretty cool though i've never actually used one of these okay so you bring it together like that and then this hooks right here i believe all right so now i get it hook like that this goes up to your line or a string or whatever this goes down in the water like that the bait's on here grabs the bait and it snaps like that and hooks the fish pretty cool one of these days i'll have to try this but again you got to make sure it's okay to use these where you're going to be fishing because some states and towns and so forth have regulations against using automated fishing devices but yeah pretty cool a nice survival item there up next we've got the advanced box and for mission 75 that's just one item and here it is this is the laser brite single mode military light and i'm really interested to see how this works looks kind of cool so let's read about it first having proper lighting for multiple uses and needs are imperative in a survival situation it is also important to be light and weight durable and handle changing weather conditions and environments the laserbrite modular led system can handle that and a whole lot more the led bulbs are visible from over 1 mile away and never need replacing providing reliable lighting when you need it laser bright is fully waterproof and submersible up to 50 meters this is the same versatile military light kit that is supplied to all branches of the us military you know whenever someone says that i'm kind of skeptical so maybe someone in the comments below can shed some light on that and let us know if this is indeed given to all branches of the military or not this light can be configured in multiple ways be it for low light map reading marking a hazard or signaling for help this light can do it all and it has a price of 45 dollars and it's 100 made in the usa nope let's go ahead and open it up [Applause] we got a coupon code for more laser bright stuff we got all these pieces replacement batteries kind of cool and they got a bunch of accessories and so forth that you can buy so apparently there's a whole bunch of different ways you can use this thing let's let's play around with it well there's one thing got a green light there kind of cool oh they got all sorts of little oh there's a white light there okay all right we got a white light got a white light there a green light there i wonder what else we can do let's see i am completely messing around with this i have no idea how this thing works i guess this is a shorter one you can put in here [Music] okay i guess this can go in the end cap that oh okay i'm gonna dim the lights a little bit that way you can see it a little better hopefully okay it's kind of cool it's a little signal light or something like that it's kind of neat i guess you can also let's see here i can see what they're saying it would be kind of fun to play around with this for a while and see what you can do let's have that i'm gonna have that white and green yeah i can kind of see having a lot of different uses for this thing i mean it's definitely very configurable was me my first time out i'd probably do it like that and then put this little thing around like that yeah so then i've got my green here and my white here [Music] very cool i kind of like this i like this signaling piece too that was kind of neat and it's nice that it comes with some extra batteries as well so yeah very cool i like this up next in the pro box we've got another light source this is the hybrid light mammoth multi light that has a price of 70 at least according to the mission briefing so hybrid light the mammoth hybrid solar 400 lumens of light charges mobile devices too with a usb port pretty cool so it recharges with any light source or with the micro usb 20 hours of light on one full charge holds a charge for years water resistant extremely durable super bright led 400 lumens rotating magnetic base 120 degree flex head 9 inch length 8.5 ounces two retractable prong wall plug for charging 5 volt 2 amp usb output for charging all right here's the charging cord and there is the mammoth multi-lite it's got a solar panel back here it's pretty cool you can just plug it into the wall [Music] magnetic down here and it's got a hook as well see if we can get that out there it is it's got a little swivel hook kind of cool oh it turns down here too oh that's bright it's gotta light out the front too there we go there's the dim spotlight back there wow that's bright yeah that is bright yeah not bad at all and there's the charging port there's the charge of the battery and there's to charge your phone it doesn't say anywhere how big the battery bank is in terms of milliamp hours but if i had to guess it's probably something small maybe 2500 3500 tops i mean something like this the light is the main deal and the power bank is sort of a secondary bonus feature so i wouldn't count on this to charge my phone but it's a nice thing to have in a pinch very cool i like it and then finally we've got the pro plus box which is the knife of the month and for mission 75 we've got another lord and field knife haven't had one of these in a while this is the lord and feel tallulah knife so let's check it out it says it's 440c stainless steel which is okay it's not the best steel ever but it's okay [Music] i've got a nice box urban field i always like how these lord and field knives are wrapped up in wax paper kind of makes them look old-school and there it is it's got a nice sheath nice leather sheath [Music] there's the blade [Music] yep it's plenty sharp [Music] just got a little my car to handle yeah feels good it's a nice looking knife it's very pretty i always like these lord and feel knives they're always very attractive very well made i've liked every single one of them they've put in the battle box so far i think they own warden field or something like that that's why they always put lord and field knives in their boxes they either own warden field or they have some sort of connection to horton field but yeah very nice the lord and field tallulah [Music] very cool [Music] yeah i like it this is a nice way to wrap up a battle box mission very cool all right so there you have it mission 75 of battlebox overall i think this was a pretty solid mission and it was definitely better than mission 74. it had some nice useful stuff and i really enjoyed it but let me know what you think in the comments below
