everybody welcome back to the Loon channel so I've had a lot of requests after I shot holes in the last AR 500 level three body armor to do their level 3 plus plate since it's specifically rated four five six and a AR 500 armor comm was nice enough to send me one of their plates so big thank you to them really helps when you know companies can provide stuff like this because it's really expensive to buy armor and destroy it so level 3 + 10 by 12 event shooters cut rated 4 5 5 6 rounds up to 3,100 feet per second so if any of you have not seen my previous AR 500 video I'll put a annotation there so you guys can go check it out but level 3 steel body armor is susceptible to penetration by regular old m193 5 5 6 so the real key to penetrating steel armor is velocity and that's why particularly m193 mo poses the biggest threat because it is you know one of the higher velocity five five six rounds and I was shooting it out of this which is a 22 inch barrel bolt action this is a savage axis so yeah we were actually getting even a little bit more velocity yet than you would out of say 16-inch barrel AR one point that I want to remind you guys of is that level 3 + is an industry term and that means that it's just a name that companies give to their armor it's not an actual ballistic standard it's not an NIJ standard there is no such thing as a level 3 plus you know body armor test standard so what that means is that not all level 3 plus armor is the same so like if you say level 3 you say level 4 if that's if that's passed the NIJ test then you know exactly what it's capable of it's not true for level 3 plus so just keep in mind when you guys are looking at various you know if you look at anybody else's armor keep in mind that they're not all created equal we're going to repeat the same test as before we're going to set the plate up at 7 yards we're going to shoot some 193 at it out of this 22 inch barrel and then we're going to see two things one if the three plus actually stops the five five six around as its rated to and - this has their uh packs Khan it's called packs Khan buildup so basically the bedliner looking stuff on this plate is a little thicker than the last plate that I shot I was unimpressed with the last plate because the stuff kind of just blew off so hopefully we get to things hopefully we get no perforation and we get the that buildup you know the anti frag coating that actually catches the pieces of the bullet so let's set it up and take a shot alright so the first point that I want to make is the velocity we try and get this in focus for you guys so you can see that it was thirty three hundred and forty-one feet per second and like I said when you shoot em 193 out of a long barrel like that you can get pretty good velocity and then here's the plate you can actually see entrances right down here that little pinhole and uh here's the back no perforation I don't even feel a dent there I noticed the label has moved a little but there's there's no dent on the back of the plate and you can see that the small coating or anti frag coating or whatever name you guys want to use it worked pretty good it did kind of come apart a little bit you can let me trying to get in here so you guys can see how it started to kind of like break off a little but I can't really find any bullet fragments anywhere normally when I do this and I you know I when I don't perforate the armor there's a big line right here on the table or the piece of wood give you guys an example is that right there that's where the armor would be and that's where all that stuff and this is very very rough this will kind of cut you there's all those little holes in the plastic where the bullet bounced off but you don't see that here you know this is a pretty clean so I'm going to go ahead and say that the build up is actually superior definitely works a lot better than their than their non build up one so in my opinion if you're going to bop it a bit this on have a go for the build up especially because this is a pretty affordable armor to begin with the only other point that I want to make far that you guys go is that this is it's not really that light now I think their website list is around eight eight and a half pounds and it feels like it might even be a little bit more than that I waited on my bathroom scale and I think I got about eight and a half pounds or nine pounds but you really don't have the resolution on a scale like that to say for sure but it's definitely it's definitely a hefty piece of armor so you know you don't you don't get everything you know if you want really light armor you're gonna have to pay a lot of money for ceramics but I definitely think this is a this is a great option and certainly better than the regular level-3 ar500 plate is with this common of around as m193 is i think that uh this is this is definitely a good option so if you guys want to see anything else go into the level 3 plus plate you know i've only shot it once so far so we got a lot of room on it I don't really if it stops seven sixty black tip I don't even think I own anything that's going to go through it but maybe we could try something goofy like a 2250 or something but as always thanks for watching thanks for liking and subscribing it helps the channel out and we'll catch you next time
