it's been almost exactly a year since my boy bradley and i pulled this 1967 ford f-250 off a farm she'd been sitting there for about 24 years we did eventually get it running but it needs a ton of work before it goes down the road safely for my boy it needs an entire brake system fuel system and a clutch shed minimum today we're going to start with the gas tank gas lines and a fuel pump see if we can get it running on its own again and then you know we'll go ease it around a little bit and thank you for the sponsor of this video simply save more on them later let's dig in [Applause] [Music] bring the bucket [Music] [Applause] [Music] well it's completely after dinner time now before we got it in here that's fun what we'll do is take a little tour of it kind of remind you where we're at on it's been a while since it's been on the channel we'll show you the new parts and then we're going to dig right in on this thing oh we got a battery in here and 3m weatherstrip for some reason anyway this fuel pump is bad we determined out in that field and i got a replacement for it but she was the wrong one that's when i also figured out that this engine was swapped on in the early 80s most likely based on the carburetor connection and then also the wrong fuel pump oh that's where this was i couldn't really use that on a revival i just did that's not yet on the channel anyway that fuel pump's got to be replaced also this fuel line we think is rotted if i remember right somewhere underneath this cab she was rotted on us and then we've got a new tank we're just going to pull this thing out probably going to be a lot easier than trying to clean this thing might even have a scintillator for it i can't remember but the great news is this right here means i was able to get a title we got plates registration and if we can get this thing running and roadworthy then we're gonna do just that i'm actually planning on teaching this guy how to drive a manual in this truck what else we got in there that thingy oh regulator yep let's put that in the going to town box just in case we got a new tree growing back here they just keep sprouting some random chevy engine i think they got that for free uh barely holding in the bed but that's fine nothing else has changed these are the bias ply tires that we put on as rollers that came off another early 70s ford and they all held air for a year now sitting outside that's pretty crazy they're actually in really good shape might just keep them on it so i bought this tank through lmc seemed to be the most reasonably priced that looks pretty nice huh and set it back on the box maybe oh yeah that'll do just fine we should start digging because i think i did buy some other stuff for this maybe i can't remember and then we got of course the cheapest fuel pump and i think this looks like the one on the engine yeah much more similar the other one had a crank later arm over here that was 74 miles long brad's going to swap this pump out first quick i want to get the pump in and then the tank that way we can figure out all of our hard lines where those are going to land and i got to thinking on the tank here i know i ordered more parts i just don't have any digital inner waves out here for my pocket computer otherwise i'd search it up but i think i got a new seal new cap new rubber piece here and i think ascending unit i just can't find it but at minimum we'll get the tank swapped this all slides in after the fact anyway and we can even dump some fuel in it if need be but then the line comes up here drops down below the cab and i think from here-ish to there it's just gone that's why we ran this line which actually goes underneath the cab all the way up somewhere down through there i think there you go old pumps out hey that arm looks the same so that's good that should go right in there the gas was getting into the oil let's hear this bad pump you can see some gas coming out there too all right let's throw that new one in put just a little black rtv around the fuel pump just enough to stick that gasket on there so it stayed in place and then we got rid of these i don't like this stud and nut configuration just doesn't seem like a smart design so we ran two new bolts into that that'll tighten before bottoming out and he's just snugging them up right now and then we'll move on to the tank click click that's good over torqued so under the truck here here's where that fuel line comes through the floor and then it's just bluetooth from there to over there so we're going to fix that also how did i never notice these custom cab mounts down here i mean that's looking pretty good wow i think a guy could just pry that loose and pull her out the side of the cab when you get that off huh yeah so we got this one off this one the screws on this side guy can't get to it so i went to pull on this to try to separate from the tank and well i'll be dipped she just popped off the top one but that's just fine that's loud this cab seal we probably use that i'll just set it there and this is slightly heavy still a little bit in there oh it's just wafting vapor that just smells doesn't smell good does it no it doesn't smell bad at all can a guy snag it out your side instead of this way maybe yeah there you go just drag on it now that smells pretty bad huh yeah she was pretty empty too late now but i don't hear a lot of stuff rolling around in there we probably could have cleaned this really easy yeah oh well when in rome buy flatbread get the bad mouse sucker 500 not the interior hopefully not mouse sucker 200. it's not too bad but i'm just going to suck up all this stuff before you put the new fuel tank in [Music] [Applause] so these are the brackets that slide onto the lip of the tank and then they bolt to the cab i'm going to clean these up and paint them brad or just throw them on like this i clean them first clean on them looks like they used to be black back in the day [Music] i'll ease this primer on and then you can come back and hit her with the color okay you want to go with shiny black not a little glass huh yeah just like the factory this gas tank clip holder upper 200 board is working pretty good let that sit for about three minutes and 14 seconds well we got to wait for paint to dry literally and now we got to find those other parts to the fuel tank i want to take a couple of minutes to talk about the company that keeps my family home and vehicles safe simply safe is an incredibly effective reliable home security system you just order it up on the line or give them a ring and they'll ship it right to you guy can just install it himself the system is professionally monitored 24 7 and if anything should happen they'll make sure to get the proper authorities called for you they've got sensors that cover every window and door motion detectors plus lots of extras like key fobs panic buttons doorbells they even have high definition cameras you can even protect your home from frozen or broken pipes with their freeze and flood detectors colored instructions are included with everything and if i can do it you certainly can you can even carry the keypad around with you during installation to make it that much easier the cameras and doorbells have really easy to follow instructions as well and setup only takes a couple minutes once you plug in the base station and hang the keypad they automatically link together at that point just pull the tab to activate the battery on the sensor you're working with test the sensor and then just name it from the keypad entry sensor added now choose a name what i really like about the simplisafe system is the monitored carbon monoxide and smoke detectors it's my duty to protect my family and with monitor devices it offers me more confidence that i can do that whether we're sleeping or on the road i don't have to wait until there's flames coming out of my roof for the neighbors to call for help it's done for me all for around 50 cents a day you should really check them out yourself just go to simplysafe.comforwardslash vgg now let's get back to that old ford well these are finally dry so i think we're gonna go put them on the fuel tank well bradley's doing that it's time for me to celebrate however one wants to do that i did find some parts i spent what felt like 84 months what is going on down there digging through boxes and i found stuff you know how it is guy buys things a year ago and it just accumulates and then you can't find nothing but i found the seal for the outside of the cab i got a brass floater later i even got a screw pack and gasket that was smart and then here's that tube that has the extension for the cab goes onto the fuel tank and i even got a brand new sparkly fuel cap for it don't know why but i did so once we get these clips on he's got a big town you're harding out it looks like it's getting serious down here we'll throw this tank in then put all the other parts on it's going to be 14.3 touches easier to work on this with the tanks out sure would be nice to have a gas later gauge for the little guy that actually works this one just likes to sit on empty which is usually a sender unit when they're up there on full then it could be the old digital wiring gauge and whatnot but we're going to knock this off a list of potential stuff that could be wrong oh pretty skunky yeah sometimes you shake on them bradley you can hear liquid in there then you know you got a leak but oh this one's definitely got a leak but the other issue is the actual sending unit part looks pretty rotten we'll own it out quick and see if the old lever is working so a guy can hook his electricity calculator on here and tell if these are bad and this one is basically they should change resistance as that fuel level goes up and down and when we own this one out she's just sitting at 799 so this part of the unit is actually bad as well as a hole in that so thankfully i've got the flotillator but chasing one of these down maybe i thought it ordered the whole thing i don't know just in case the boy ever decides to clear coat this or polish on her i'm going to polish out the old cab corner here where that gasket's going to go on then we know i got to fight it later [Applause] maybe clean it up a touch wool pads are really fun like lanolin what's humorous forward slash slightly impressive is that old paint she got some shine right out of her but now this is all cleaned up so we get that gasket in there and stuff we haven't quite decided what we're gonna do yet with this paint we had a lot of comments maybe we should clear coat it some say just put the elbow buffer to her not quite sure yet you guys let us know what you think it definitely has a lot of cool old patina the door over here even has some lettering behind some spray paint i think a guy could get that to come back out i'm sure the other door must have it too snip it on in here watch that seat now it's still good there we go wow didn't fit bits but the bolts aren't lined up here's a river you stab them around a little bit maybe line them up there you go i just bend it there you go looking pretty snazzy she'll probably be a going to town unit by the time we're done called around couldn't find sending unit i'll have to wait till i can get on the line this evening but we'll finish putting the rubber on here getting all this put together anyway we could still run her without that all right i guess you get the honors little guy hey pretty snazzy fuel spray look out we're gonna put updated clamp laters on in here so we just ran her together for now and then we'll put uh the updated style on and those wondering if you're going to replace this do you have to take your tank out you do not you can easily fit your hand in here and then i just turned the spout around jammed it through use the old persuader tanya harding 200 it just eased her on in how's the unit and that works pretty good so on the lines now we got to bend a line from there bring it down here snip down this way and snag her through the floor and then i think i'll put a little rubber union and then we'll run some hard line up to about where they had it hopefully i got enough try it around in this area and then of course we'll do a hard line we'll do this one last because that's the easiest and i just want to get this over with got one bent up here and i'm using copper clad that way she don't rust again on a guy gonna use a rubber grommet and rubber through the floor and then instead of going through the frame i think i'm gonna go under then we'll run a line up here bradley's gonna jack it up first get some more room so a guy's belly can hang out underneath there and get some jack stands under it we're not using the lift right now because i'm working on that and i'm working on that when we get to the brakes on this because we're going to be running all new brake lines we're putting in wheel cylinders shoes hardware then we'll get it up on the left because it's going to be a lot easier but guy's pretty used to popping around on his back so this is the line rafter right here but instead of doing this mickey mouse thing from the factory i'm just going to come underneath kind of like my one here is over to the line and then we're just going to take this off all the way down and you can see these brake lines whoops well that one just broke in my hand those are really bad too and there's been a splice in here already barreled in and they're just they're rotten so these all gotta come out look at that oh wait i think the back brakes did work oh well anyway we're just going to run a line in here i don't know if i can reuse these calculators never seen anything like that i think they just push in on the other side go down also earlier i was playing with the clutch and i was wondering if there's any slack in there maybe we could just adjust this before we swap the whole clutch out and normally this doesn't have any slack in it maybe just a little bit and then you can run this out to take that up on the pedal up top but watch this i mean that's oh okay auto eject so there's a lot of room in here that i could take up on a clutch pedal which is actually a great thing we might not have to swap that just yet before the boy starts learning on it bradley's going to take the old pump later out and all the lines and zip ties and this stuff while i'm under there ripping out that line i can't see anything these glasses are more scratched than the dj's album i'll hang them down here and say i'm using them through there can it hung up on something bending this you get a curve shoot behind gotta ease it through well there's nothing up there now it's going that's the wrong way well help me understand how to get through this i just i'm caught that way how's everything fitting through there clear as day you know see it now i see it do i want to run it outside of the thing like that brake lines are right there does it even make sense to go behind us i got so much stuff in my nose gotta get a mass curve in here is this the right one bring her in bring it this way bring it again here's the pipe put a little band in there like that get her behind this clips see that was easy this is all licked up of course the grommet that was in here just kind of disintegrated so i cut a piece of three-quarter inch heater hose wrapped it around the fuel line and then just kind of z that'll hold her in place so this is fine now i just need to snip that on to that hard line we got right there that she's got down here and then we're good under the hood as well so that line's already in so all we have left is just this little and then we can see if this thing fires up you think it's going to start right away brad yep you think so huh oh we got to find some gas that's less than 10 years old ta-da bradley's cutting that to a guestimated length basically what we just did was snipped it on to the fuel making happener bent her up kind of by hand over here got her swoop down and just eyeballed her and then we'll flare it out and put the same fitting that came on this this is just a straight stick with two fittings that way i didn't have to buy the fitting separately that'll work just fine got to clean up a little bit get this thing back on the ground find some gasoline and we're just gonna crank on it and see if she fires off well while the guy was under there i did try to adjust that clutch fork and just re-reconfirmed the confirmation that the clutch is bad it was there was two threads left on that thing so i did the right thing and backed her out one more and then double netted it that'll do nothing but we're gonna drop it down and if we get it running we might just scoot it around a little bit bring her down bring it down now go on ahead wow nice and easy better than your mom i don't know we put some of this in the tractor and that kind of worked well why don't you uh get a little more anglage on it there you go just don't tell mom to dump gas on you okay okay i don't know if that's gonna be enough i just don't know we got connectionage okay it's in neutral i don't know if that's gonna be enough fuel to suck a late from the tank but we're gonna give it a shot anyway crank it stop hmm i would really think it would have fired try it again okay stop is this flammable ready for round two yep go ahead immediately fired up try it again again again [Music] wow these 300s are really really good engines what do you think bud well it's clearly falling from the tank how's it going in here good feel good to hear it run again yeah sounds pretty good actually not too bad huh yeah we forgot to check the oil but yeah we'll do that later well should we go for a little spin yeah i wonder if my 1 16 inch clutch adjustment did anything nope sure didn't where'd the glass go in this mirror no idea we got no marriage we got a little more weight in the rear end this time on that chevy engine around that's right you gotta remind it it's a truck every now and then well she's really smokey i don't remember it smoking this bad the fight is fascinating oh i think so the heel of my boot keeps going through the floor there we go it was about a year ago we went for a cruise good job today man wow let's just take it down the highway i can't see a thing the first gear just wants to go right now i will just ease it around the shop huh okay see how my foot's all right now yeah did you let it much out just start moving why not put some power steering in here for you huh that'd be nice i'll look into it no i really don't more you're good [Music] well if the boy's gonna work on his truck in here then guys gotta sweep at the end of the day i think that's gonna do it for this episode finally running on its own fuel system fired right up seems to be running pretty good a little smokier than usual but them rings probably still ain't coming back around up next we're going to do an entire brake system on this thing all new lines shoes wheel cylinders you name it thanks for watching guys see you next time where is the broom actually oh there it is you want to start back here and i'll go get the little one [Music] you
