bring us to everlasting life let us pray grant we pray almighty god that always pondering spiritual things we may carry out in both word and deed that which is pleasing to you through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit god forever and ever amen a reading from the letter of saint james beloved is anyone among you suffering he should pray is anyone in good spirits he should sing a song or praise is anyone among you sick he should summon the presmeters of the church and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the lord the prayer of faith will save the sick person and the lord will raise him up if he has committed any sin he will be forgiven therefore confess your sin to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed the fervent prayer of righteous person is very powerful elijah was a man like us yet he prayed earnestly that it might not rain and for three years and six months it did not rain upon the land then elijah prayed again and the sky gave rain and the earth produced its fruits my brothers and sisters if anyone among you should stray from the truth and someone brings him back he should know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins the word of the lord thanks be to god let my prayer come like incense before you let my prayer [Music] me your kin to my voice when i call upon you let my prayer come like incense before you the lifting up of my hands like the evening success [Music] a guard at the door of my leaves for toward you god my lord my eyes are trained in you i take refuge [Music] incest before [Music] [Music] hallelujah [Music] says [Music] blessed are you father lord of heaven and earth you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the kingdom the lord be with you a reading from the holy gospel according to mark glory to you lord people were bringing children to jesus that he might touch them but the disciples rebuked them when jesus saw them he became indignant and said to them let the children come to me do not prevent them for the kingdom of god belongs to such as these amen i say to you whoever does not accept the kingdom of god like a child will not accept it then embrace the children and blessed them placing his hands on them the gospel of the lord christ to you lord jesus christ my dear friends we celebrate today the seventh day of the novena of the feast of the holy name of jesus which we celebrate on tuesday shrove tuesday and in the most holy face of jesus we look at the we reflect on the words of of of pilate homo behold the man in reference to jesus through [Music] and by looking at jesus the body of jesus the crowns on his thorns the crown the crown of thorn on his head we are reminded of that special love for god of god for us love of jesus for us by laying laying down his life by suffering for us and by dying for us shedding his blood for us in order to conquer death and to save us from our sin and so today as in the previous days we continue to contemplate on the divinity and humanity of christ his love and mercy for us and we are drawn towards him by constantly contemplating on his life that we too may imitate and follow him and above all we too may be drawn towards him because it is only in christ that we can be saved and be freed from the power of evil from being freed from being lost and wayward so we continue to reflect on god's love for us his special love for us today my dear friends from the letter of saint james this reading from the letter of saint james and from the holy gospel according to mark let us reflect on the traditions that are present in the church these traditions that are present in the church do have their biblical origin they are not just meant there as rights and as mere words but they intentionally intentionally draw us to the life of the church based on the words of christ and as enacted upon by the apostles and which we continue to practice in our church so there is then a continuity between the word and the tradition and that life of dependence our dependence to the grace of god the grace of god by whom we must not disconnect or we must not separate ourselves from and indeed from the letter of saint james we are reminded of the anointing with oil especially for the sick cause summoning the presbyters of the church to pray for them with anointing with oil in the name of the lord this part from the letter of saint james also [Music] uh is it also echoes mark chapter 6 the gospel of mark chapter 6 verse 3 wherein the apostles are called not only to to preach you see preaching the word of god is very important let it draw let it let it dwell in our heart the apostles also casted out demons by praying and by their faith in the lord not only praying but also fasting so preaching casting out demon and then mark chapter 6 verse 3 there was this anointing of oil to the sick and this oil brothers are also applied unto us in different times of our lives by the way they are consecrated and they are blessed and they are applied to us in our baptism in our confirmation and in the holy orders and so my dear friends this means then that this anointing of the oil which is biblical and which is a commandment of jesus himself in the end draws us to him this has an effect on our body and on our soul by this we become children of god index of that start we become ex children of god through this external sign of anointing and the operation the saving work of god works internally in us in our soul as we are being consecrated and anointed in the name of god what is important is that our life baptized is we are baptized and we continue to live in christ in the letter of saint james there was there is also a recall to the sacramental forgiveness of sins the sacramental forgiveness of sins and this reminds us that there are two forms of healing then there are two forms of healing sometimes we only focus on the first kind of healing which is the healing of the body such that people do certain forms of exercise or certain forms of of body regimen in order to maintain a healthy body and for to have a physical a good physical health there is however this second form of healing which is the spiritual healing spiritual healing by which we direct our suffering our pain and our torments or whatever disturbs us spiritually healing not by our physical not by our ma not by our own effort but asking god and lifting it up to god with a power of prayer and with the sacrament of forgiveness by which we are being freed [Music] by by by by the authority of of christ to his ministers of sins in order for us to arrive to this spiritual healing then again this physical and spiritual healing remind us always of our life placed before the lord consciousness and awareness of his healing touch not only in our body but in our soul in our soul especially through this relationship with god and so we're just reminded of what the catechesis states in in number one in number 11 31 which states that the sacraments and we are reminded of the sacrament of the anointing of the sick and the sacrament of reconciliation our and all the other five sacraments in the church are efficacious signs it reminds us there are signs of grace instituted by christ so the origin then of the sacraments are christ himself through his gestures and through his words which are spoken by his ministers and asked for by his power and entrusted to the church that is to the apostles that is to say special for example by to saint james and and to all other his apostles by which divine life is dispensed and here is something good to reflect upon it means then that we transcend our human life with its ordinariness and sometimes with its perils but we are promised here of the divine life from the sacraments it means that the power that comes from above working to us which is being dispensed to us or which we it's which are being distributed and shared to us in the church to us who are children of god sons and daughters of god we reminded them of this of our identity the visible signs by which the sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the graces proper to each sacrament and the sacraments have been for fruit in those have bear fruit in those who received them with the required disposition i saw my dear friends let us then reflect meditate abide and above all trust in the power that comes from the lord the divine power that comes from the lord from his spirit they come from christ and it is something that works in the church for our salvation you know sometimes when we read we read because we want to acquire knowledge but let us reflect on the power of the sacraments in us the efficacious signs of graces the of the the visible signs of the invisible reality of god's work in our in our life through the work of faith and by which in our heart and by which in our soul we call upon god we pray to him and how much power that we that that we uh get that we are that that is being uh given to us to him to us who have this to us in relation to god we cannot save ourselves you know how much how much um uh will or or or force we we we we want to to put in into the saving of ourselves we can be saved by by by by the power of god working in us in that relationship with the lord and so we need then this physical healing but we also need this spiritual healing by the divine work of god working in us and so my dear friends these are attested by james the spiritual healing through the power of confession and and and also which which we express in a certain way before the holy mass through the confession through this configure but we also have this we also receive this sacramental forgiveness through the sacrament of reconciliation this then my dear friends reminds us that we are united to our savior you we are united with god we are united with the church and that we live our life together with him together with god in the church too we are taught to love we are taught to love this is very important at times because of the influence of social media um there is a strong temptation you know to divide ourselves and and at times the seed of hate and enmity are are being planted in our heart hence it is not without reason that christ reminds us with this double commandment of love you know always to direct our attention to direct our heart to love god with all our mind with all our heart with all our soul and strength and to love our neighbor because the two cannot be separated hence we are called then to love one another we are called to put into heart the word of god but but and by the way when we have this love for god in our heart this is a very special gift and consolation that that remains in our heart and it is a very special thing that we have in our heart by which we can do so many good and special things with the power of the lord's spirit it inspires us to do greater things far beyond what we can imagine rather than being imprisoned by enmity or hatred in our heart which stops us and confined us to our own person little presence in our heart and so for this reason the love this call for love of god and love for neighbor has a very special role in our lives as children sons and daughters of our god and it reminds us always to continually relate to god and so in our daily conversation we are always called to pray that is to open our heart to god every day oh by [Music] and this also presupposes the primacy of the role of god in our life that is when we wake up the first thing that comes into our mind is to pray to the lord to pray to pray to the lord and um and believe in the power of prayer that is being affirmed uh that that that we do that we direct in into our lord because prayers are effective prayer i i i'm we put a special importance into prayer because at times it is the last thing that we forget in our life after all the things that we do prayer is that living and that loving relationship with god i repeat pray prayer is that living and that loving relationship with god prayer in that same way works among humans when we pray for one another to god especially if we pray for one another and there is also this kind of of prayer which is very important and i think this is an effect of that prayer and this is found in the last part of our reading today very important we should know brothers and sisters that whoever brings back a sinner from the way of error to god's way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins and so prayer then leads us to conversion but also prayer also is a way of that continuous and loving relationship with god and today we are being taught not only to remain in ourselves by the comfort of our relationship with our god but we are also called to bring back a sinner those who live a life far away from the lord it means not having contemplated and meditated on the word of god and his love etc bring back a sinner from the way of error so that we will save that so that he who brings back a sinner from his way of error will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sin and this is something very important my dear friends because it reminds us of the communitarian role of our relationship with god the crucial role of our god wherein we pray for one another and we adore and we have this special relationship together with the lord with christ as our head and we as his body and so my dear friends let us then put ourselves in our in in the in in god in in in the letter of saint paul to the philippians we are reminded and this is in relation to the gospel we are reminded to that that we are children of god we are called to to accept to receive the kingdom of god and to accept it in our life what does this mean this means my dear friends that like god we are called to um to that humility before the lord we're called to obedience to the word of god and we are called to listen and to act based upon upon the word that we reach that we receive and that we hear and i think that parents are uh would have a consciousness or would have uh would would um would have a special consciousness of this act because what do we what do we ask from our children no what do we want for our children what we want for children is for their own good and that they may be separated from harm or from peril it is also the same with the word of god it is meant for us to listen to be followed to be trusted upon because it is important for us as his god's special children and so we are called then to receive the word of god and accept it in our heart in the letter of saint paul to the philippians he said and this may remind us of some of children at times who may be grumble grumbling and arguing he said in everything you do act without grumbling or arguing proving yourselves innocent and straightforward straightforward children of god beyond reproach in the midst of a twisted and depraved generation among whom you as children of god shine like the stars of the sky interesting among whom you shine like the stars of the sky and so we are not then called only to be sold of the earth and light of the world but also an interesting image for the children of god and so my dear friends to conclude we're called then today to receive the kingdom of god and then enter into it by starting within receiving god in our life and we offer who offered us his salvation and let us continually live our life in learning learning in that in humility in that constant renewal and above all in that loving and living relationship with god amen let us all rise with confidence we come and present our needs to god our father who loves all his children and let us pray lord hear our prayer lord hear our prayer the leaders of the church may teach her members the true dignity of marriage and so help couples remain faithful to their vocation let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that married couples may be sensitive to each other's needs and find true happiness in their lives together let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that those experiencing difficulties in their marriage may receive the grace to persevere in their commitments let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that the aged the lonely and the sick may find love and support within the community let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer that those who have died may find a place in god's internal kingdom let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer prayer the servant of god bishop be raised to the altar of the saints let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for all the intentions and prayers offered by the pilgrims and devotees of senior santuninium let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for peace in our country and in the whole world let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for all indirect patients care give them strength for their service let us pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for all those isolated in their homes sustain them in fount of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts you pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith [Music] and professional [Music] therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to
