love of god and a commune of the holy spirit be with you all my dear brothers and sisters jesus our lord is risen alleluia today we celebrate the resurrection of the lord jesus from the dead this is the central mystery of our faith as christians we too are invited to rise with jesus but first we have to die to our own old self our selfish desires hopelessness and misery our confidence lies in jesus who conquered the power of sin and death united with him we too can become new persons my dear brothers and sisters let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries all together i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most gravest fault therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may peter and to other disciples whom jesus loved and told them they have taken the lord from the tomb and we don't know where they put him so peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb they both ran but the other disciple ran faster than peter and arrived at the tomb first he bent down and saw the burial cloths there but did not go in when simon peter arrived after him he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there and the cloth that had covered his head not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place then the other disciple also went in the one who had arrived at the tomb first and he saw and believe for he did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead the gospel of the lord good morning my dear brothers and sisters in christ and once again a greetings of a happy easter to all of you the lord is risen alleluia my dear brothers and sisters as today we once again celebrate this easter season of the resurrection of the lord we once again ask ourselves deeper and profoundly into our hearts the meaning of this resurrection into us as christians at the very onset of the celebration while i was reading the introduction of this mass we are once again reminded the centrality of this mystery into our lives as christians our faith that is preached to you saint paul telling those who are listening or right or the ones who are his disciples or followers if our faith that i am preaching to you and when jesus is not resurrected this faith is empty it's every thing that is based on this christian life is based on that on that resurrection on the faith in the resurrection we keep asking ourselves what is the meaning of this resurrection into our lives how it does speak to us communicates that as we observe this easter is the second easter in this time of the pandemic the first easter that we had celebrated when this pandemic was just so fresh and it broken up into the world last 2020 we celebrated of course in much stricter context at the time lockdown ecq not only here in cebu but also throughout our country now it's the second time and thank you thank you lord for giving us this opportunity despite the restrictions despite all the protocols we celebrate this easter season in the context of a community of your physical presence here in the church peru we ask ourselves that sometimes we ask ourselves what is the meaning of this what is the the usage of this faith to the resurrection when everything still suffers like antos different levels into our lives in the givenness of our own context as we have known already and what is the meaning of this resurrection into our lives with all of these things which sometimes we give up the faith into the resurrection or sometimes we cast into doubt this faith in the resurrection because it becomes irrelevant last time when we were celebrating good friday here i was talking about this news that had uh released from the media there was a survey that there is a drop a 10 point drop from the 83 percent to the 73 73 this year of those who perceive religion as important so it is a kind of a talking reality for all of us as people would maybe not giving enough in their faith in their relationship with god shall we say in religion because that's the the context of this survey once again but before you answer that let us see the examples of those who have faith in the resurrection in the gospel three important persons that may be makuha inspirations in the gospel of john three important persons who are witnesses of the resurrection mary magdalene peter and the other disciple for example see mary magdalene at the first part of this gospel reading we are reminded of her person um and she was so very in one way upset of what had happened mary magdalene is known to us jesus christ but the gospel truth about mary magdalene is that she is being recognized as the apostle to the apostles because she was the first one to witness the resurrection [Music] of the context if you listen very well she was so upset no she was in a in one way so first and foremost we can understand the human feeling of mary magdalene that will be also our own emotions especially [Music] and precisely this is also our feeling at this point of time that we experience the pandemic wherein we are now socially distant but precisely at the same time we are also separated from each other feeling speak to us mary magdalene represents us in the tomb of the lord secondly peter peter after hearing mary magdalene that the body of the lord is that present on the tomb disciple they ran [Music] because of concern this very human he ran he wanted to check he wanted to make sure and like mary magdalene he is also very concerned disappointed [Music] requirements what happened during the passion three times peter denied jesus [Music] peter wanted to be with his love as a young master jesus peter peter did not yet believe easily he wanted to resolve everything in his mind remember they all left it's only john the beloved disciple who was there john john the beloved disciple it's because this is the device of saint john's gospel character is a bible it's because the gospel writer would like us to really connect ourselves it can represent any one of us [Music] maybe can we say better than the first two but of course it's growing faith it's growing faith the last deci that the last character which is the disciple the villain disciple of jesus did not enter in samani peter concerned [Music] remember the gospel reading said for they did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead is trust they want to resolve it they want to resolve in their emotions they want to put it resolve in their minds we are continue to walk with faith we trust in the lord so that we may continue to reject the resurrection of jesus christ in the darkness of the world in the darkness that evil [Music] [Music] are you rejecting evil in your life and are you continuing to journey with jesus with god with that my dear brothers and sisters i will not answer for you because the question of resurrection is also very personal we have the answer in our faith yes we have already it stated but go back into your hearts go back into your very hearts and ask once again how is that resurrection important to you amen let us all stand at us renew our baptismal promises dear brothers and sisters through the paschal mystery we have been buried with christ in baptism so that we may walk with him in newness of life and so not thou not now that our lantern observance is concluded let us renew the promises of holy baptism by which we once renowned satan and his works and promised to serve god in the holy catholic church and so i ask you please answer loudly do you renounce satan i do and all his works i do and all his empty show i do do you believe in god the father almighty creator of heaven and earth i do do you believe in jesus christ his only son our lord who was born of the virgin mary suffered death and was buried rose again from the dead and is seated at the right hand of the father i do do you believe the night he was betrayed he himself took bread and giving you thanks he said the blessing broke the bread and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and giving you thanks he said a blessing and gave the chalice to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me no mystery of faith save us savior of the world [Music] forever [Music] therefore oh lord as we celebrate the memorial of the saving passion of your son his wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven and as we look forward to his second coming we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice luke we pray upon the oblation of your church and recognizing the sacrificial victim by whose death you will to reconcile us to yourself grant that we who are nourished by the body and blood of your son and filled with his holy spirit may become one body once spirit in christ may he make of us an eternal offering to you so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect especially with the most blessed virgin mary mother of god with blessed joseph her spouse with your blessed apostles and glorious martyrs with saint augustine saint monica and with all the saints on whose constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help may this sacrifice of a reconciliation we pray o lord advance the peace and salvation of all the world be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim church on earth with your servant francis our pope and jose our bishop with his assisting
