5 tips for flawless Barndominium build... #4 gets missed often - E49 S3

was I you guys remember that my goodness that was a big hit anyway barn no 214 we are almost done we are literally on the homestretch we have about three bundles that we are wrapping up and I know this whole criminal deal is kind of slowing everything down but we're still working hard today I'm gonna give you five things you need to focus on before you wrap up a barn though make sure you don't miss anything all right so as you guys can see the exterior doors have been installed this is the back door let's go in there take a look put some gloves on what are you laughing at there's Leroy making fun of me let me go put my gloves on you're not using the Tres back over your face like I told you all right safety first okay Leroy what are you working on so Lyra is making a punch list so tip number one make a punch list that's what Willie Dory's doing right now he is going literally through the entire home and he is literally nitpicking everything I mean everything okay you want to break this thing down and just put it under microscope and if you can find anything wrong with it fix it okay now by this stage of the game you shouldn't find hardly anything okay because as you were going through the job site you should have been doing this often okay however now is the time to go back find paint chips I mean anything on the walls anything for example you saw they install the television right there they lift dirt or you know drywall dust not only are we gonna clean that up we're also gonna call the Installer the television and say hey buddy we're gonna let it slide this time but next time that ain't gonna happen so things like that not only do you take care of the issue you prevent it from happening again so tip number one make a punch list tip number two turn on all the lights every single one of them and make sure that they all work not only that make sure there's no lightbulbs missing I mean again check everything we did a walkthrough one time with a bank and the inspector that they sent she came and she did exactly what I just did she went through the house and started turning on all the lights we had done that however there was one ceiling fan they had two light bulbs on it one light bulb was missing obviously that was not a big deal but it was a bit embarrassing to have the bank inspector point it out to me again we took care of it but yeah it was a little bit embarrassing so check every light make sure everything works check all the plugs all the lights everything okay make sure they work why is Leroy laughing what were you laughing they were so case in point I'll couldn't find the switch for these pendant lights then I look in here look at that no light bulbs precisely what I was just talking about so anyway Leroy we need light bulbs put on your punch list tip number three closed or open every door and look behind them a lot of times especially barn doors it's very easy to keep it open and that's usually what happens okay so the painters they may forget to paint behind a wall or I mean behind the door so very common so operate every door see like here we have a bump stop right there make sure that's operating properly make sure when you go on the other side they're also operating properly but again look behind the doors there's one spot that they always like to miss right there also make sure that the door is stained and finished on that side again they usually push it up against the wall and that becomes a problem also the other spot where they always like to miss the same the closets most people would stand here and look and say well no that looks good well back here is where the painters will typically miss something up here okay so stick it in here look up and turn around and as you guys can see everything is good in here another tip check all your plugs make sure they all work okay there's nothing worse than getting a phone call from a customer I don't know three months after they moved in and they'll use a plug for the first time they'll call you up today I have a plug that's not working in the house you know at which point if you didn't check them you can't tell them honestly that they were working before you left so always check them that way if they call you up say there's a problem that you can say well maybe check the breaker or something you know because if you verified it yourself then you can always be certain that they are working properly and it's something minor okay so check every plug in the house all right so you guys have probably picked up on the fact that every tip that I have given you so far his common sense well believe it or not is the minor details the make a big difference so you guys can probably figure out what's next yep check every fixture make sure you have cold and hot water flush every toilet make sure they're working properly and run every shower again test them for cold hem hot if you think getting a phone call about a plug that doesn't work as a bad phone call think about getting a phone call from a customer at 10:00 p.m. at night and saying a I don't have any hot water my shower again verify everything simple piss open it the microwave it's it's not working make sure all your appliances of working properly for example brand new microwave and as you guys can see the door will not open so got to change it up put on the Leslie work are you six feet away from I have a camera in front of me but you might be getting our viewers don't touch me don't get our viewers sick do all of this more than once it doesn't matter who you are there's some things you're going to miss so check them at least twice and even better after you're done have somebody else check it twice again that's what we're doing Lieber is checking them I'm checking them and if we both check it twice the likelihood of something being wrong is very low even if you do miss some things they're gonna be very minor so give us a thumbs up if you enjoyed it we'll see
