and welcome back we are continuing our verse-by-verse Bible study through second Timothy chapter three and I'm Robert breaker and every week I try to make a video here as we study verse by verse through the scriptures and we have gone verse by verse through the epistles of Paul in order of when they were written and we're now in Paul's last book second Timothy and we've got one more to go the book of Hebrews I'm waited to do Hebrews last and I'm looking forward to that but last time we we finished up there in verse nine but I'd like to read from verse one all the way down to verse 8 again in order or actually down to verse nine in order to remind us what we've already studied but also see the context of what we're going to study today so there'd verse one it says this know also that in the last days perilous times shall come for man should be lovers of their own selves covetous boasters proud blasphemers disobedient to parents unthankful unholy without natural affection trucebreakers false accusers incontinent fierce despisers of those that are good traitors heady highminded lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God they love pleasure more than they love the Lord we will look at that a little later having a form of godliness verse 5 but denying the power thereof from sects turn away yeah we shouldn't be a part of such people we should turn away from it verse 6 from this sort of language creep in the house is a lead captive silly women late with lust labor sins let her wait with diverse lusts ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth now as Janice and G agrees with student knows this so do these also resist the truth men of corrupt Minds reprobate concerning the faith but they shall proceed no further further for their fathers should be manifest into all men and there's also was so here we see some folks that are just downright evil they have a form of godliness verse 5 that is they appear to be Christian I mean they dig around and tell me we believe err in Christ I believe Jesus but they're full of wickedness and evil and sin and you can tell who they are is because they're so they're so intial they're always thinking about the sins of the flesh fornication and adultery in there they're just dirty minded individuals they're wicked people but not only that they reject the truth in fact verse eight says they resist the truth so they are corrupt and they are reprobate in verse eight in their folly verse nine shall be made manifest and all men their full folly and the Bible gives us a great promise there in verse nine that their folly of their lifestyle or their false doctrine or their their sin will be made manifest to all men so people will see who they are and so man that guy's that guy's evil eye guys wicked that I don't want anything to do with such a person so they will expose themselves these are heretics what does the Bible say about heretics with if we go to Titus I always thought this was an interesting verse about such people what is a heretic someone has false doctrine false teaching it says here about heretic in Titus chapter 3 verse 10 a man that is a heretic after the first and second admonition reject verse 11 knowing that he that is such is subverted now subvert it means destroyed ruined or corrupt so they are corrupt and sinneth being condemned of himself a heretic will end up in sin and will end up condemning themselves for who they are and then you can mark it down well that wasn't the true man of God that wasn't a true Christian that wasn't a true believer that is someone that cared more about the flesh than the things of God and so Paul is warning us here in this passage about such people now what is it that makes them so bad why are they so wrong well first of all to have a false gospel verse 5 they deny the power thereof what is the power well we read in Romans 1:16 for I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ where is the power of God unto salvation so they don't have the right gospel they deny the power they deny the blood atonement of Christ they deny that salvation is by grace through faith so not only do they have another way of living which is a sensual lifestyle they love the flesh they have another way of how they claim to become a Christian they believe that salvation is by what works so they deny the blood atonement of Christ and you've got to watch out for such people now they have a boss gospel they also have a false teaching verse 7 their ever learning but they never come to the knowledge of the truth so they have a lots of doctrines and they're learning more and more but they're never coming to the true doctrine of salvation so they have another gospel another teaching or another doctrine and they have another lifestyle or another a way of claiming that a Christian can live they have a dirty lifestyle would be the best way to say it verse 6 then creep into houses and lead captives silly women laden with sins let away with diverse lusts so these false preachers false teachers false converts these people that claim to be Christians but they're not are wicked and they're evil and they're ungodly and they don't have the truth now with that in context let's begin here in verse 10 we will start today notice the the first word Paul says in verse 10 but he says but but what but thou has fully known my doctrine so what if he possible said he's saying well even though they are this way I am this way so Paul is making a contrast between the way he is and the way these people are so this is what the Bible is saying here is this is how these people are the wicked people but Paul says but this is how I am and what Paul gives us here is the description of how he was compared to how they are and what a difference what a difference in fact Paul tells us here 10 different banks let me read them to you he says whoever said but thou has fully known my doctrine so Paul doctrine is different than their doctrine though it's fully known my doctrine manner of life purpose faith long-suffering charity patience persecutions afflictions which came into me at Antioch and I call and Lystra which persecutions I endured but out of them all the Lord delivered me now I'm going to write these up here because the Apostle Paul says this is how these people are these wicked folks that claim to be Christians but they're not they have another gospel but this is me so Paul is comparing himself and saying I am a true Christian I am a true example of what a Christian should be and how you should follow Christ and those are the false false example so what I'm going to do I'm gonna write up here all these things that Paul said he says thou has known my doctrine he said thou has known my manner of life I guess we could say my lifestyle he says thou has known my purpose he said thou has known my faith he said thou has known my long-suffering and if he can't see this I'll get all the way here in a second he said that has known my charity well there's a good one he said thou has known my patience he says those no.9 persecutions oh boy was he persecuted but remember he persecuted Christians before he was saved he says my afflictions mean you know how many are up here that's one two three four five six seven eight nine that's nine things that he mentioned but I can't stop there because he says a little later on how that I was delivered so I'm gonna include that up there as well his deliverances how God delivered him from certain things and now when I put that up there watch this how many of them are there one two three four five six seven eight nine ten that's ten things that the Apostle Paul says about himself it says false Christians are like this but then I remember be unlike the bit and there's ten of them then if you remember our study on Bible numerix and how in the Bible numbers have meanings I looked at that when I was studying this on a wild 10 Paul is the apostle to the Gentiles intended the number of the Gentiles that is Paul do that on purpose no no it could have been on purpose that Paul mentioned 10 things about himself that we should know and should remember and that can't be on purpose just so happens it all the time you know there's just all these numbers in the Bible and people want to tell you well that book is just man's book well it sure is the coincidence that often those numbers come back and they're always mentioning something so how interesting that he said 10 different things and tens when I'm running 10,000 he was the missionary so to speak or the evangelist or apostle to the Gentiles so go back to verse 10 Paul says but thou has fully known my doctrine my manner of life my purpose my faith my long-suffering my charity my patience my persecution by afflictions and then he says but the Lord delivered me so my deliverance is so they who knew Paul would have known all these things about Paul now we live in a day and age today and I say this a lot but I've got to keep saying it we are in the last days of apostasy and in these last days of apostasy and often I'll put up here that it fit that right before the church ends but it really does exist all of go all the way out in the tribulation there will be apostates there will be people that are fallen away from the gospel and the truth so there's going to be a policy starting now in the last days of the churches and we'll continue on out until Jesus comes at Armageddon so there is a Naposki so we are in the last day so what we've seen today in the last days notice the context of of Timothy the first things that some of these says in 1st Timothy going back to verse 4 he says the spirit speaketh expressly that the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils so there will be people in the last times that depart or fall away from the truth so the Apostle Paul is saying watch out for those so here is Paul and here is what I'll just write on what they are the heretics or the apostates and Paul says this is how you're supposed to be like me and what is Paul what he is a true Christian but then he compares and says now don't be like these people that are false believers are false Christians are people that claim to be Christian they have a form of godliness but they deny the power thereof don't be like them now what I'm going to do is I'm going to go through each one of these 10 things that he mentioned because I told you many times before and I guess I never really will get tired of telling you this because I've got to warn people that in the last days in this kind of apostasy there are many people that have fallen away from the true teachings of the scripture and they're going to a lie they're going to false doctrine so they're following lies and false doctrine now there are many many many denominations in the world today of so-called Christians and I'm giving you many many messages on this but many of them are wrong in what they teach some of them try to tell you that you're under the law so they say well we're still here and they try to tell you that salvation is by works what did such people do they have a form of godliness they claim that they're Christians but they've fallen away from what from the truth of the gospel you see Paul is the one that gave us the gospel so they're the ones that are falling away from the truth they're trying to get you under the works gospel instead of the true gospel of Paul which is salvation by grace through faith I'm gonna spell three wrong Hey all right let me get any other example there's other people that want to just focus in on the early part of the book of Acts and they want to go to Peter and the early apostles and they want to tell you that salvation is by works by you getting baptized in water and they want to tell you that oh now you see the way to be say today is you've got to be baptized the water and you've got a you know speak in tongues and you've got to do all these other things or what do they do they ignore call the majority of so-called religious Christian organizations today all have one thing in common they say we don't want Pope we don't follow Paul our doctrine comes from anywhere else in the Bible but tall and they deny the Apostle Paul when you do that you lose the gospel of salvation because Paul says in the book of Galatians that what he received of God the gospel that he preached was not after man but after Jesus Christ so Jesus Christ Himself died on the cross was buried rose again and we went to heaven he gave the opportunity to the Jews to get saved they rejected their Messiah so Jesus Christ said now Paul here's what I'm telling you to go do and you go preach the gospel and today it were to be a true Christian we're to follow Paul Paul tells us three times in the scriptures be followers of me so by following Paul we are following Jesus Christ because God Jesus revealed to Paul the doctrine for the church age today but do you see who the false Christians are those that reject Paul they have a form of God as they say I'm a Christian I follow Jesus I believe in Jesus but they don't come to Jesus through the gospel of salvation that Jesus Christ gave to the Apostle Paul so let me quickly go through these 10 things the Apostle Paul says thou has known me and the things that God's given to me and he says the first one was my doctrine what was Paul's doctrine now a lot of people think and rightly so that doctrine is the teachings and that's true but there's two things that make up doctrine doctrine is not just teachings that we believe in our mind like the Trinity and like salvation and like eternal security doctrine is also how we live so let's go to 2nd or go to a Titus chapter 2 and in Chinese chapter 2 notice what it says here Titus chapter 2 verse 1 but speak the things which become sound doctrine and then there's a colon so what are you saying after this is this is what sound doctrine is that the agent men be sober brave temperate sound and faith and charity and patience though aged women likewise that they be in behavior as becometh holiness not false accusers not given to much wine teachers of good things that they may teach the young women to be sober and he goes on and on here and tells a person how they're supposed to live and the Apostle Paul says this is sound doctrine how you act how you live as a Christian your way of treating others your lifestyle so doctrine is more than just what we believe in our head or teach from our mouth doctrine is how we back it up with our actions so we used to call it practicing Christianity and people go out there you a practicing Christian what does that mean what means I believe the gospel I trusted the blood for salvation but now that I'm saved I'm going to live do it I'm going to live right I'm going to please God because I'm saved and I want people to see that see the problem is there's people that omit the gospel and then try to live a good life and what are they doing well they're doing good works thinking they deserve heaven for it but they've denied the power thereof they denied the gospel because the blood is the power of the gospel and the gospel is the power of God unto salvation so Paul tells us here in this and you can reach after two of Titus and see what it all it says is that that is sound doctrine how a person is supposed to act so Paul says you know my manner of life you know my doctrine now he's also said here he said you know my matter of life what was his manner of life let's go to 1st Thessalonians chapter 2 and in verse that the longings chapter 2 look at verse 5 through 11 for neither at a time usually flattering words as you know nor a cloak of covetousness God is witness nor of men thought we'd glory neither of you nor yet of others when we might have been burdensome as the apostles of Christ but we were gentle among you even NZ nurse cherishes their chairs with her children so being affectionately desirous of you we were willing to have been part of this you not the gospel of God only but also our own Souls because you were dieren to us but we remember brethren our labour and travail for labouring night and day because we would not be chargeable into any of you we preached unto you the gospel of God your witnesses and God also how wholly and justly and then blame ibly we behave ourselves among you that belief and I'm going to go away verse 10 by 11 as you know how we exhorted and comfort and charged every one of you as a father does his children so the Apostle Paul here tells us his manner of life the way that he dealt with people he cared about them he loved them he gave them the gospel he wanted to see them safe he behaved himself how totally justly and unblameable among them and he exhorted and comforted them now how did that correspond with this other group the other group the apostate group how'd they act well it says of this sort they which crept into houses and led captive silly women Layton was simply led away with diverse lusts who are they resist the truth verse 8 they're reprobate with their corrupt minds so Paul comes in as a holy living holy living righteous pointing them to the salvation that God gives us through the blood atonement of Christ trying to be a true Christian and living a holy life and loving those people and the false ones what they do they come into the sea and lead captive and lead people away from the gospel of salvation and holy living to sin to lusts and giving in to their lusts so there is a difference there so we see Paul's doctrine we see his manner of life how was his manner of life well acts 18 3 it's interesting that he also worked his whole life the Bible says that he was a tentmaker in acts 18 3 so the Apostle Paul he didn't go around begging for money many people do today he didn't make this Christianity about being a rich person he actually worked a job making tents as he traveled around the world and preach the gospel what an amazing life that the Apostle Paul had and he was able to change the world and turn it upside down while he worked his own business and he lived a healthy lifestyle and was a true Christian and a great example of holiness and righteousness and pointed people to the cross pointing people to the blood of Christ now it says here my purpose what does Paul tell us in the Bible is his purpose well let's go to Galatians chapter one and this is quite interesting you see these false Christians they all hate the Apostle Paul I know people that went to a Methodist Church before and they said well in the Methodist Church if you start talking about Paul they say well we reject you because you're to Pauline we don't accept Paul here other people go to different kind of denominations and they say well we only accept the Apostle Paul we believe in the you know the seventh day or the sixth day or whatever day they they try to say that you have to keep the Sabbath and they say if you don't keep the Sabbath you're not a true Christian infra-red Exodus 31 Exodus 31 says stone them if they don't keep the Sabbath what kind of a fool would go around and tell people inter Christians you've got to keep the Sabbath you got to keep the Sabbath and they don't are you going to go out throw rocks at them and kill that's what the Bible teaches no we're not under the Old Testament law we're not under killing people there's no death penalty for people that don't keep the Sabbath today because we're under grace but you see there's a lot of people that don't understand that so that understand Paul nor his doctor nor his mannered life nor his purpose so they're false Christians or false Christians like Janice and Jan breeze they are not standing for the truth they're deceiving people by the way Janice and Jan breeze were the two what would you call them warlocks witches they were the two practicing magicians before the King back in the Old Testament for favor and so there was an element of witchcraft there as well to not be in favor of God and his apostle and the blood atonement you're in God's not in God's side you're on the devil's side it's the NO Battle of God versus the devil so I want to be in the right side so what's the right side where should we be today as Christians in palm-reading Paul's epistle studying Paul that doesn't mean we can't read the rest of the Bible we can we should but our apostle today is the Apostle Paul in God revealed unto him the way of salvation for us today and unless you see that all you have is a form of godliness but you're denying the power thereof now Galatians chapter 1 verse 15 16 Paul tells us his perfect purpose but when it pleased God who separated me from my mother's womb and called me by His grace to reveal his son in me that I may preach among the heathen immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood the Bible says that God chose Paul before he was even born from his mother's womb God in His infinite mercy and wisdom liveoptim evidence that you know I know the Jews are going to reject me so I'm going to call this guy Paul to go give the Gentiles the way of salvation Romans chapter 15 look at what Paul says that his ministry is what's his purpose Romans 15:16 that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles ministering the gospel of God that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable being sanctified by the Holy Ghost so Paul's purpose was to preach the gospel to the Gentiles so the Jews rejected their Messiah so God said calls now it's your turn take the gospel go out to the Gentile world now he went to Jews - people ask me all the time does that mean you can't get saved today yes just think it's safe today but they have to trust the same gospel that we Gentiles do in this time period in the church age we're all safe that's why it says in Romans chapter 116 for I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for as now we've gotten some action to is you first and also to the Greek so Jews maybe get saved just like Gentiles but more than anything people get saved today our Gentiles many Jews the Bible says are blinded to the truth so God is saving more Gentiles than Jews today and the Bible tells us it's to provoke Israel to jealousy Romans chapter 11 so Paul tells us you know my doctrine you know my manner of life you know my purpose that he says in my faith what is pulse faith we'll go to first Corinthians chapter 15 verse 1 through 4 I give this in just about every message that I give because so few today the claim to be Christians do there are many people out there today that claim to be Christians that don't tell you the gospel what aren't they well they're like Janice and jamberry they're trying to lead you captive into a false religion and lead you astray you come to the cross you won't be led astray you come through Paul's gospel and trust the blood atonement of Christ you won't be led astray first rate is 15 1 through 4 moreover brethren I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you which also you received and where you stand so he says I appreciated gospel which ye have also received and he says by all by which also your sayings you keep in memory what I preached unto you unless you believed in vain and he says what for I delivered you first of all how that out of that which I also just received so Paul is saying you received it and I received it so what Paul says you know my faith he's saying that's the same faith that I received I trusted the gospel and I preached it to you and you trusted the gospel so you all know what my faith is and what your faith should be in it should be in the gospel of Christ what is it verse 3 how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures that he was buried and he rose again the third day according to the scriptures so salvation is by believing in the gospel trusting the gospel for salvation do you know that Paul says but thou has known my faith unfortunately there are many there claim to be Christians today that have another faith and their faith is not in the thing that saves their faith is in something else and that's a shame you can't go wrong if you'll come to the Apostle Paul now he says you know my doctor no matter of life my purpose my faith he says you know my long-suffering the Apostle Paul was so long-suffering let's go to first Timothy chapter 1 verse 7 in chapter 1 verse 12 this also Paul says in first Timothy chapter 1 verse 12 through 16 and I think Christ Jesus our Lord who hath enabled me for he hath counted me faithful putting me into the ministry who was before a blasphemer and a persecutor and injurious but I obtained it I'd say mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief and the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus this is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I'm chief verse 16 howbeit for this cause I'd say mercy that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long-suffering for a pattern to them we should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting the Apostle Paul was a pattern of long-suffering God was long-suffering with Paul because before Paul even got saved he was killing people who were Jews that accepted Christ they called themselves Christians because those early Jews in the church age believed in Christ Jesus and all because he believed in the law thought those peoples are liars because they forgets the law they three we're no longer under the law but were saved by Jesus and so he says that that can't be right so he killed many Christians and God still was long-suffering to him until he's saved him and then Paul went out and he practiced long-suffering towards others he had a lot of long-suffering and he suffered long he suffered a lot as we look here as I get a little lower down so long suffering now charity he said I've known my long sucker has to my charity what is he talking about there let's go to 1st Corinthians chapter 13 and here's something that many so-called Christians don't have much of today they don't have charity 1st Corinthians chapter 13 verse 1 though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not charity I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal and though I have the gift of prophecy understand all mysteries and all knowledge and though I have all faith so that I can remove mount and have not charity I am nothing and over stole all my goods to feed the poor and though I give my body to be burned and have not charity it profiteth me nothing so Paul says look it's all about having charity charity is so important yet there are people today that claim to be Christians that don't have any charity why don't they why haven't they known Paul why haven't they known his charity and why don't they follow that look what Paul says in Colossians chapter 3 verse 14 and above all these things put on charity which is the bond of perfectness above all things a Christian should have charity what does that mean that means you put up with other Christians and you love them and even if they do things that you don't like you don't go out of your way to attack and be mean and be angry and hateful toward such people you have charity you love me you pray for them you try to take them under your wing and talk to them and explain things to them and get them right if they don't want to say okay I offer you up to the Lord on your up to Satan for the instruction of flesh if you want to continue evil way but you're in God's hands maybe I just I have charity with you I love you and I want to see you do right we're supposed to have charity once the next one Paul says he says patience patience second Corinthians chapter 12 let's go there just want to give you Scripture and I want you to know the Apostle Paul because the Apostle Paul is according to Roman's 1113 our apostle and we are supposed to go to him today for the gospel of salvation and if any person claims to be a preacher or a minister or a Christian and yet they have a different teaching a different denomination then they are one of the others that Paul is warning us against because Paul says say God's chosen me before my trial I was born in my mother's womb to carry to the world the gospel of salvation so second Corinthians chapter 12 verse 11 and 12 Paul says I have become a fool in glorying you have compelled me for I ought to have been committed of you for nothing in my behind the very chiefest apostles though I be nothing is humble with me surely the signs of an apostle were wrought among you verse 12 in all patients in signs wonders and mighty deeds so Paul had some patients do you have patients I've met a lot of people are going to be Christians that don't have any patients at all once again look to Paul he's our example let's let's have some patience with one another now he says what he says charity patience persecutions what happened to Paul what were these persecutions well let's go to 2nd Timothy chapter 3 sending him in chapter 3 verse 11 and 12 he says persecutions afflictions which came into me at Antioch at Iconium at Lystra which persecutions I do endure but out of them all the Lord delivered me so he mentions three places where he was persecuted Antioch Iconium and Lystra and he says you know during that time I was certainly persecuted and it wasn't very fun we look at these afflictions how he was literally persecuted here in his second but I've written down Romans 8:25 talking about these persecutions what is that saying Romans 8:25 but if we hope for what we see not then do it with patience wait for it well that would a tie into patience so that was a verse that went into patience he said we should wait for certain things with patience we should be patient some guy one time said the last thing in the world you want to pray for is patience because God will make you wait for it so patience isn't always fun but we as Christians we should have patience and if we are true Christians we're going to suffer persecutions just as Paul sir suffered some persecutions and what else afflictions what kind of afflictions did the Apostle Paul go through well let's go there and look look at 2nd Corinthians chapter 11 2nd Corinthians chapter 11 here the Apostle Paul is telling us about the afflictions that he suffered for Jesus Christ now let me say this that crowd doesn't suffer afflictions in fact background has what they call their spirity gospel and they say well if you just serve God well you'll be so rich and God will just give you everything and money will fall off of trees and you'll just be so rich that is not what the Bible teaches in fact we're going to get to it here in a minute in chapter 3 of 2nd tivity it says ëi and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution so if you're a true Christian and you're living godly you're going to suffer persecution for it how come that ground never suffered persecution because they're not real Christians they ignore Paul they ignore the gospel they have another gospel a false gospel they have false doctrine and they're preaching worldliness rather than godliness they say they have a form of godliness but they deny the power thereof now we're looking here at the afflictions that pull endured for Jesus Christ 2nd Corinthians chapter 11 verses 23 through 28 look at what the Apostle Paul says are they ministers of Christ I speak as a fool I am more in Labor's more abundant in stripes above measure and prisons more frequent in deaths oft see wherever Paul went he was beaten he was put in prison and people died around him all the time he says in verse 24 of the Jews five times your seed dies forty stripes save one that's 195 times the Jews whipped him with a whip he says thrice was i beaten verse 25 with rods once was i stoned thrice I suffer shipwreck in a night and a day I've been in the deep in journeyings often in perils of waters and perils of robbers in perils by my own countrymen in perils by the heathen in perils in the city in perils in the wilderness in perils in the sea in perils among false brethren in weariness and painfulness in watchings often in hunger and thirst in fastings often in cold and nakedness verse 28 besides these things that are without that which cometh upon me daily the care of all the churches so he says look at all the things that I've been through look at all the afflictions that I've endured for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I asked you everything through I don't know one of those things for Jesus a a lot of people like standby I am a Christian I am a Christian and my first question is so what have you suffered for Jesus I'm just asking and have you ever suffered for Jesus okay they want you to just be quiet until you actually go through something and suffer affliction for Jesus Christ maybe I ought to keep your mouth shut you know I've seen a lot of people that claim to be Christians and they love to attack other Christians and I look at that and say what have they ever suffered for Jesus nothing but they love to be some of it well that's just something that a true Christian has to endure the infliction of brethren those that claim to be saved and he says you know I've had to watch out for people that claim to be brother and that have attacked me perils of false brother he says there in verse 26 now look at the last one she says deliverances Paul was delivered on quite a few occasions you can't read the book of Acts without fighting the supernatural hand of God on Paul protecting him through his entire ministry let me show you in 2nd Timothy chapter 4 in verse 7 an interesting interesting thing that that that took place for Paul I believe it's in 17 excuse me 2nd Timothy 4 17 saving Timothy chapter 4 verse 17 look at what Paul says knowledge standing the Lord stood with me and strengthened to me that by me the preaching might be fully known and that all the Gentiles might hear and I was delivered talking about deliverance I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion now if you know your history I want you to get that picture in your mind Paul was put in jail for preaching the gospel and he said I appealed the Caesar so he was sent to Rome and we're told in the book of Acts that he said in his own hired house in Rome waiting to go before Caesar and eventually he did now we don't know what happened there but this verse here gives us an idea that it most likely probably happened this way Paul went before Caesar he got his day before Caesar and Caesar says what is this all about he says well I was a Jew but the Christ came God manifest in the flesh he died for the sins of man and I began preaching that Jesus Christ God manifested in flesh died for our sin and he got to preach to Caesar now did Caesar accept the gospel no but when we hear a verse that he was delivered out of the mouth of the lion what does that mean well those days Rome had a Coliseum and they would take Christians and they would put them in the Colosseum and they would either burn them at the stake or watch gladiators cut them to pieces or they would put them out there with a bunch of lions and watch the Lions eat them so get this in your mind here's what happened to the Apostle Paul he preached to Caesar now why was he put in the Colosseum probably because she knows you're you idiot what are you crazy if you were a Caesar Caesar believed that he was a god in Rome believed in many gods and so imagine it's this conversation that would have gone on between the Caesar in pole and you see what do you mean this God died for people I'm God Caesar would have said and Paul would have said I'm sorry no no you're just a man and not even a good one at that no no man is God and Caesar what God I kill people they don't say on God and he would have said well you're not God Jesus Christ is God and I can just see Paul and we see in other places where Paul says at my first answer all men forsook me here's Paul and he says I just want to tell you something Caesar you're not God you're going to burn in hell if you don't come to Jesus Christ and all the other people that were brown Paul just went through dudes or walking away because they knew what was going to happen you get the wrath of Caesar you go to the Colosseum and get eaten by a lion but Paul had no fear he stood up to Caesar and said no you must be born again you've got to be safe you've got to trust the blood of Christ Sauvage and Cesar says out thrown to the Lions and Paul went into the Colosseum and the Lions were there it says how the mouth of the lion it could have been more than one but he only talks about one lion and you can imagine Caesar sitting there going how this crazy he said I'm not a god he's going to die and Paul was in the middle of the Colosseum just kind of looking around said all right Laura this is the way I go then let it go when he looks over there the lion comes over and when let me read it again second Timothy 4:17 the Lord stood with me not notwithstanding the Lord stood with me and strengthened to me that by me and the preaching might be fully known and that all the Gentiles might hear and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion he said that I was there standing before that lion and he says the Lord stood with me now did Jesus Christ literally stand there with him that's what he's saying maybe it was the angel of the Lord it stood with I don't know but he's saved the Lord was with me during that time and this line just comes right up to me and I can just see the lion and Caesars up there going oh god you're going to eat this guy and the lion probably came over went and walked away and Paul not wanting to miss an opportunity started preaching the gospel in the Coliseum and I can only imagine how good of an echo he got and how much of a captive audience and I can only imagine the Apostle Paul saying well I just want to tell you all that Caesar is not God Jesus Christ is God and this lines not eating me because Jesus didn't allow it and Jesus Christ is holy to preach the gospel and the gospel is and he gave it to him right then and there now that's what it sounds like in the context he says that by being the preaching might be fully known that all the Gentiles might hear he preached the gospel in affliction a fully expecting most likely that he was going to be in my lion but he thought you know what if li needs me I'm going out preaching the gospel and he preached the gospel of salvation to those lost Romans that believed in many gods and believe it Caesar was God and he told them about the true god of salvation you know I've read facts foxes Book of Martyrs before and there were some amazing things that took place during those times when they would take Christians and throw them into the into the Lions Den and throw them in to the Coliseum I've read stories that uh there were people that were even even soldiers even Roman soldiers would be sitting there watching these Christians just stand there and let the lions eat them and I remember reading stories of foxes Book of Martyrs where these Roman soldiers is begin to cry and they saw that they dropped their sword and dropped their shield and just jumped out walk down in the middle and just stood right next to the Christians and let the lions eat them as well what is that that's somebody they got saved listening to the preaching I'm sure those Christians you just stand there and close their mouths I bet they said all right if there's a bee in the Bible says and they preach the gospel and people got saved in the congregation sitting in the Coliseum and they jumped over the fence and said I'm going to die with you two because I believe in Jesus salvation by believing salvation by faith they trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior so Paul tells us look you knew my doctrine you knew my manner of life you knew my purpose my faith my long-suffering my charity my patients by persecutions by bleaches and how God delivered me now how did Paul ultimately die well I don't remember it I'm pretty sure if I remember correctly and I could be wrong I'd have to get the foxes Book of Martyrs again but I think that they finally just eventually just chopped off his head when the Lions would need them and that didn't work I think they beheaded Paul if I remember correctly I'd have to look that up but he ultimately died he ultimately died for Jesus Christ but not without changing the known Gentile world and so many people came to Jesus Christ so many people came to salvation so look what it says let's go back there to 2nd Timothy chapter 3 verse 10 but Alex fully know my doctrine manner of life purpose faith long-suffering charity patience persecutions afflictions which came in Antioch and Iconium at Lystra what persecutions I endured but out of them all the Lord delivered me now verse 12 yay and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution so if you're going to live godly you're going to suffer well that's what Paul is saying before 1 if you live for Jesus you will suffer now if you don't want to live for Jesus then no but if you do get ready because you're going to suffer now the Apostle Paul a Peter talks about that a lot let's go over to 1st Peter chapter 4 matter of fact the theme of 1st Peter is about suffering and in 1st Peter chapter 4 verse 16 look at what Peter says having a good conscience that whereas they speak evil of you as of evildoers they may be ashamed that that falsely accused your good conversation in Christ he said look if you're a true Christian and you're living right and you're doing right and they come and they accuse you of things that aren't true and you suffer he says they're going to be the ones that are ashamed not you because you're doing right and they're doing wrong and they will ultimately be ashamed that they accuse an innocent person so if we're going to suffer we should suffer for doing right not for doing wrong look at verse 15 first Peter 4:15 but let none of you suffer as a murderer or as a thief or as an evildoer or as a busybody in other men's matters so when we're Christians we shouldn't steal or lie or cheat or to see we should live a holy life that's what it's about living a sanctified holy life living for Jesus to be a good testimony to others and when we live holy what the world will will accuse us the world will say oh you'd fuddy-duddy oh you crazy oh you awful person and the Bible says they live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution now look at what it says in first Peter 3:17 first Peter 3:17 says for it is better if the will of God be so that you suffer for well doing then for will do so a Christian shouldn't do wrong and then have to pay for it you should always be doing right look at the first Peter 3:14 but and if you suffer for righteousness sake happy are ye and be not afraid of their terror neither be troubled well the Apostle Paul was in trouble or afraid of a lion he said look I'm doing the right thing I'm living for God and liberties I'm preaching the true gospel of salvation what have I to fear with my lord so dear I'm leaning on his everlasting arms I'm trusting in him while he stood by him he as I preach the gospel he said I don't care what man can do into me all I care about is doing right living for Jesus and doing what God would have me to do it says there verse 14 happy are ye if you suffer for Jesus you know there's a promise in the Bible that you'll be happy even though you're suffering for Jesus there's a joy that you just all this is for my Jesus oh man they're beating me they're breaking my bones they're there they're cutting me they're throwing me the Lions and burning me at the stake it's all over Jesus this is great because I know I haven't done wrong all I've done is preach so the Bible says and there's a joy in that suffering for Jesus Murphy - chapter 2 and verse 20 Peter says for what glory is that if when you be something buffeted for your faults you shall take it patiently well that's one of the things Paul said to have was patience patience in afflictions patience when you're attacked he said you should take should take it patiently but if when you do well and suffer for it you take it patiently this is acceptable with God God likes it when we do right and if we suffer for doing right well God says you know what that's even better and we have a promise that in heaven we will get rewards if we suffer for doing right so back to 2nd Timothy chapter 3 verse 9 10 11 and 12 we read there that he said all these things about himself and all these things that he said you've known what I went through let's ask the question have you ever been through any of those do you have any of those do you follow impulse footsteps he's our example the Bible says do you know the doctrine of salvation do you know the doctrine of fall do you know his manner of life his purpose is your faith in the same thing that Paul's faith was in the gospel of salvation I've got a purple marker here I've been wanting to use see how it shows up the gospel have you trusted the gospel of salvation to be saved and then it says here his long-suffering charity patience do you have any of those three do you have long-suffering charity patience so I hope so many Christians that claim to be Christians that don't have any of those have you ever been persecuted afflicted delivered from that well I hope I don't wish that on anybody but as the world gets worse and worse and more evil and more evil every day there's going to be more persecution against true Christians those that stand for the truth in fact we read that in 2nd Timothy chapter 3 and verse 13 but evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse deceiving and being deceived and that's true more and more people in this world have become more and more evil and will see more and more evil men waxing worse and worse and all they want to do is deceive you because they themselves bar to see who is it that will make you suffer these evil men who are they again we'll look at verse 1 through 4 this also know know also that in the last days perilous times shall come for men shall be lovers of their own selves covetous you have boasters proud blasphemers disobedient to parents unthankful unholy oh they don't want to live a holy life they want to live an unholy life and you know what that pricks their conscience when they see a true Christian that's living a holy life and they themselves are unholy they can't take it it bothers their conscience so they attack it says they're unholy without natural affection verse for a trucebreakers false accusers incontinent fierce despisers of those that are good they just despise you if you're good traitors heady highminded lovers of pleasure more than love of God who are they though they're their vile wicked evil people but look at her side having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof from section away they have a form of godliness what are they they're religious people they have a religion that they believe in it might not be anything to do with God or the Bible it could be evolution evolution is a religion it could be some sort of political ideal or teaching that's their religion like communism or such a thing like that progressivism liberalism but they are a people that have a form of godliness they might think that their God is their state or their God in themselves they are religious but lost and it says here about such people notice what it says verse 6 for of this sort are they which creep into houses and lead captives silly women laden with sins led away with diverse lusts they are lustful people full of lusts that means they are carnal and we who are saved we're supposed to be spiritual so they aren't as carnal as they can be and all they care about are the lusts of the flesh let's look at what Peter says about such people 2nd Peter chapter 2 and verse 14 notice what Peter says about these people having eyes full of adultery that computer 2:14 it cannot cease for sin they just cannot stop sinning they're addicted to sin they're addicts and they cannot stop sinning they just can't quit having eyes full of adultery they're full of adultery all they can think about is committing acts of sinful lusts eyes full of adultery cannot cease from sin beguiling unstable souls what is beguiling what sounds like this evening unstable Souls and heart they have exercised with covetous practices it says cursed children so they're full of adultery all they care about is doing wrong and their minds are going their minds are shot look what Paul says about such people in Romans chapter 1 where all this chapter 1 verse 21 Romans 1:21 all the way down to verse 32 he gives us an idea of what such people are like and he actually shows us what's in their heart Romans 1:21 says because that when they knew God they glorified him not as God neither we're thankful but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened professing themselves to be wise they became fools and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man and to birds and four-footed beasts and creeping things what is this this is like they have their own idols and they worship their idols rather than through God or 24 wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts so you turn away from God you get away from holiness and doing right living right and you go to the flesh if you start thinking about lust and that's all that you can think about it's where can I get another pleasure in a flesh give them up the uncleanliness to the lust of their own hearts to dishonour their own bodies between themselves who changed the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and created the creation creator more than the creature more than the Creator who is blessed forever aiming or 26 for this cause God gave them up to vile affections and even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature nature 27 and likewise also the men leaving the natural use of the woman burned in their lust one toward another notice the word lust showing up over and over and over this crowd is full of lusts it says men with men working that which is unseemly and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet 28 and even if they did not like to retain God in their knowledge God gave them over to a reprobate mind to do those things which are not convenient wine that sounds like the same people that he's mentioning over here in 2nd Timothy chapter 3 in verse 8 he says there is this the truth men of corrupt Minds reprobate concerning the faith same people he says here in verse 29 being filled with all unrighteousness fornication wickedness covetousness maliciousness full of envy murder debate deceit malignity whisperers backbiters haters of god despiteful proud boasters inventors of evil things this will begin to parents without understanding covenantbreakers without natural affection implacable unmerciful who knowing the judgment of God the day which commit such things are worthy of death not only do the same but watch this but have pleasure in them that do that this crowd over here all they care about is pleasure pleasuring themselves pleasuring the flesh being being full of pleasure and they get happy by what they do you know the Bible talks about that I believe it's in Hebrews where it says they enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season after a while you get bored with it but they go so far adapt invent something new that tickles and tantalizes until they go so far down the road of sin that they become so vile so wicked so ungodly that they're torturing they're killing people they're eating the blood of babies they're delighting in eventually committing acts of witchcraft with their spirit cooking garbage and what is this well the reason that they go down that road of destruction and go so wicked into doing evil things is sometimes it's not just the flesh sometimes it's worse sometimes it's spirits and I'll get to that in a second but whenever I read this passage in Romans chapter 1 whenever I think about this kind of people that all they can think about is desiring to fulfill the lust of the flesh I always think of Rome and the Romans and their or Chiefs the old Romans which used to get together and hold orgies where all they did was get drunk and get naked in big groups and just go around and fornicate with one another that's sick that's called hedonism but every year they had a party they had what they called this God being Bacchus and Bacchus was the god of revelry and Bacchus was this god of drunkenness and wantonness and fornication and all this and they would and I think how could a person do that how could a person get so drunk and take off their clothes and spend night after night after night in constant drunkenness sleeping around not even knowing who they're with or what they're doing I could never understand that my dad always taught me from an early age always be in control of your body and of yourself and of your mind and never allow yourself to get in the state where you're not in control you don't know what's happening or what you're doing or what others are doing to you I just I cannot fathom in my mind how a person can go that road and become so evil it's so wicked it's so ungodly I just I don't get it maybe it has to do with up with drugs people now they take drugs and that makes them go out of their mind and supposedly that's for a pleasure of it you supposedly feel good when you take drugs up I don't think you do but whatever but why would a person do that to themselves in other so let's go back to 2nd Timothy chapter 3 and finish up here we're going to have to do another possibly one or two of videos here about chapter 3 of 2nd Timothy but in 2nd Timothy chapter 3 it tells us about Christians it says yea and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution verse 12 but then verse 13 says but so we have another comparison a contrast but even though Christians are suffering for Jesus but there will be evil men who acts worse and worse and those what says but evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse so these people are seducers all they care about is the lust of the flesh and seducing one another fulfilling sinful pleasures in the flesh it says their seducers now when I saw that word seducers I said you know what look at the first Timothy chapter 4 first Timothy chapter 4 now the spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils what is a seducing spirit it's a demon a seducing spirit isn't demon now I say the word demon because that's the word we used a lot today but several folks have contact me say the Bible never uses the word demon and it says devil okay so I'll use the word devil Devils Devils if you start down that path of evil if you start down that path of giving in to the desires of the flesh committing fornication and adultery and doing evil things and just only care about yourself and fulfilling the desires of the flesh your just might be opening yourself up to a devil or a demon coming into you and before you know it you'll no longer be in control and that demon will be in control driving you to go fulfill even more lusts of the flesh so that's the world we live in that's the last days and one thing I've noticed a lot in the last days a lot of emails I've been getting is more and more people in these last days are being attacked by demonic influences by Devils people write me sometimes and say look I just I can't sleep at night this thing comes to me and you won't stop talking to me and makes me take dirty thoughts and all I do is just say oh Jesus I plead your blood and then it runs away and I said well praise God but I'm hearing I'm seeing more and more of that in these last days more and more seducing spirits what is that they're evil unclean spirits that wants you to fulfill the desires of the flesh rather than live a holy life and do right so there it's in bedico manage the doozers shall wax worse and worse deceiving and being the seed verse 14 but continue down the things which thou have learned and have been assured of knowing of whom thou has to learn them now you may call stop there I think we might just even start in verse 14 next time I've got lots I want to get into in this verse and then actually verse 15 and 16 and 17 so I don't know if it will be one video or two more until we finish chapter three but there's a lot that I need to go into but I hope this had been a blessing to you I hope you've seen the contrast between a true Christian and what he's supposed to be like and a false Christian or someone who's not even a Christian at all a religious person or a person that that has a form of godliness but they deny the power thereof that could even mean that they think they're their own God or maybe they're making idols and they're following their idols you know it's funny there's a TV show called American Idol and people watch that and don't think anything about it yeah well then you're making someone an idol and what is it usually it's that person that's really pretty and makes themselves up and people what they lust after such a person they lust after their flesh and how they sound and how they sing how do you just seduce somebody well you dress up to seduce them by looking at you but then the voice the seductive voice is that it's the sound of the voice American Idol and it's about singing interesting so anyway I'll stop there I hope this has been a blessing to you I hope again it shows you the importance of the Apostle Paul and following the Apostle Paul his teaching his doctrine the gospel of salvation we'll see you next time thanks again for watching
