hey everybody today we're going to talk about 18 inexpensive items you should stockpile now alright everybody welcome back so these are some items I'm thinking about that would really come in handy in the case of an emergency now when you're building up a stockpile you know when you first start prepping it really can be financially daunting okay you're not only looking for thrifty items but you're also looking for items that you use everyday for your family or yourself as well as items that could be used in an emergency or disaster so after you plan for your food and water needs when you start prepping you might be overlooking some inexpensive very helpful items that would serve you well in a survival situation and that's what we're covering here today these are everyday items you might just take for granted because you see them in the store all the time you don't think about how they could come in handy in an emergency however they'll do more than just come in handy when there is one that you have to deal with most if not all of these items can be picked up at your local dollar store and they can serve more than one purpose you know not only can they serve their intended purpose for you and your family but they also can be very very handy barter items now before we begin I'm gonna let you know that these are mainly but that's what's on the table right here is mainly just representation okay this is not the actual amount or item that I'm telling you to get of course I want you to store more vegetable oil than to little tiny to little tiny containers there but it's just a representation it's what I could grab for the video so don't think I'm telling people to not buy in bulk so I'm gonna clear off the table and we're gonna get into each item and tell you its purpose and where you can pick it up alright first off we're gonna talk about tarps plastic tarps even the cheap kind like this one can come in handy for multiple purposes you can use them to collect rainwater you can use them to cover a broken window or a hole in your roof and as a matter of fact this one's done that when we had a roof leak before we got the repair people here you can use them as a shelter they're reusable they're easy to carry and easy to store and fairly inexpensive next up matches and lighters it's important to learn how to start a fire without matches or lighters but why not stuck up on a large supply a mattress so you don't have to worry about it right away boxes and matches are cheap and stackable lighters are also fairly inexpensive and it might be an item you'd overlook from your stockpile also what about picking up a magnifying glass at Dollar Store or another fire starting option like a like a Ferro rod and learning how to use it fairly simple items and in the stress of a disaster when you maybe not so practice for the ferrule rod these will work for you to build a fire let's move on all right you were probably expecting this one toilet paper this toilet paper has been up on my shelf there for probably a good 15 years plastic starting to fade away on it but I'm definitely want to look at toilet paper it's one of those items you take for granted until you don't have it now the dollar store is not the best place to buy one of these things in bulk basically you can buy these in bulk in warehouse stores like Costco or Sam's Club or anything like that the dollar store toilet paper is usually pretty harsh you really don't want it however if that's all you can get and you don't have any other options it's better than nothing so definitely some toilet paper now this one's gonna shock some people that have never used bar soap but yes bar soap very inexpensive to store you can get large amounts of it fairly inexpensively you can get some bar soaps at the dollar store as a matter of fact that's where this came from this is just I just got in my closet in my hallway I do have quite a bit put away and stored but fairly inexpensive easy item you can shave this down you can make a soapy solution out of it really really handy to have if you only use liquid soaps and you don't use bar soaps toss a couple bars of soap in there even some Fell's nap the soap that's excellent at cleaning it's very old school but you'll find it around so definitely some bar soap alright number five disinfectants hand sanitizer and alcohol wipes probably be the most important thing you can have in unsanitary conditions in a disaster in addition liquid bleach is cheap useful for disinfecting contaminated water but keep in mind that chlorine bleach does have a very short shelf life and if you store it in heat it's even shorter after a year it can use up to 50 you can lose up to 50% of its effectiveness so make sure that you rotate it out if you are going to store it you can store a pool shock a bleach like that it's the powdered stuff however make sure you rotate that stuff out too but definitely want to get some alcohol prep pads and some hand sanitizer and if you can't find these I mean these are pretty simple you can find them almost anywhere but if you want a little bit more bang for your buck you can get a thing of a rubbing alcohol just an entire container and use that on tissue paper towels whatever and it works pretty much just like the alcohol pad so definitely disinfectants those little tiny things down there so these are very important batteries Hand Crank stuff and the shake flashlights and all that that's great and maybe you can't do solar power or solar backup just yet so make sure that you have a good supply of batteries and try to standardize that's something that I've been telling people for a while try to standardize your batteries I see so many people with devices to take C's and DS and double A's and next thing you know they have a ton of batteries they have to store and then have to rotate battery life has gotten a whole lot better recently in the years I find these to be very very good these energizer lithium's put your money out front and get them but if you can't get you know if you can't spend 11 or 12 dollars for a pack of batteries your local dollar store will have ones that are perfectly good for things like flashlights and radios and stuff like that for high drain devices I recommend stuff like that as a matter of fact the camera is recording this video is running on these right now so that's why I have a few extras out here let's move on to the next item all right next up we got cooking oil now this is vegetable oil you can get olive oil it's a little healthier for you but these actually came from the dollar store and these were a buck each and I figured as it's good to have in our pantry again I don't have the stuff from my storeroom out here because it'd just be too much stuff to carry out so my pantry in the kitchen are right as I walk out of here so that's where a lot of this stuff came from and of course get more than what's there but that's a start you know what I mean definitely handy cooking it's a basic system necessity for you know meals a lot of meals require it a lot of baking requires it so you can definitely pick it up cheap and even if you can buy it one thing at a time for a dollar that will add up pretty quickly all right next up now this is a kind of a full protection and safety kit my main objective here is to talk about that right there face masks face masks are very very handy to have around just a little side note on that some of the people in New York City after 9/11 we're paying up to fifty and sixty dollars for a face mask because they all got bought up and of course people were you know selling them at crazy high prices to people that really needed them so definitely stock up on face masks I would say go with in 95 to start with if you can find an 100 they're a little bit better but you know standard Hospital face masks are cheap and easy to store this kit I believe I got this at Ace Hardware in town here before they closed up but in the goggles and earplugs are handy to have too but my main objective is telling you get some of these they're good for illnesses pandemics whatever as well as you're working outside you got to chop down a bunch of weeds you're allergic to very very handy item to have one of the things I always see people forget is over-the-counter medications you can buy them very very cheaply at dollar stores you can get them almost as cheap at Walmart you just get a little bit more you know a dollar store portion maybe half of that for a dollar and you can pay 250 for that they're easy to store they're easy to stock up on and I see so many people forgetting stuff like this yeah they may have their you know tactical backpack filled with a trauma kit and stop bleeding stuff but what happens if you have diarrhea or an upset stomach or allergies or a headache or you know so definitely check up on your over-the-counter medications what I've done is I took a toolkit you know big I did a video on it a while back it's double the size of this whole toolkit here it's a big wide one and I turned it into what I call hospital in the box I have almost all of my stuff like that you know basic stuff as well as anti biotics as well anything else I'd need all in that one kit ready to go so if I have to bug out I grab the kid but for a general emergency around the house I can grab the kit too and go to wherever the emergency is so don't forget your over-the-counter medications don't forget gauze bandages first-aid tape good old band-aids a lot of people forget that stuff so don't forget that stuff and let's move on to the next side now of course you're gonna need some heavy-duty gloves like the ones I reviewed released recently those leather ones and some work gloves and stuff like that but don't neglect some vinyl gloves they're very very inexpensive you can get boxes of these for like four bucks five bucks these are just kind of beat-up because these are the ones I use out here in my shop when I'm cleaning guns or doing any kind of dirty work but you know these will work for you and these are chemical resistant gloves these are fairly inexpensive these were what 429 each and these were from ACE again that's a good place to shop for stuff like that to actually you can use this kind of stuff to treat wounds sort through debris maybe you've got a dig through your septic system or connector or well or unknown water that's where these come in handy if I got to go shut off my water cuz it's leaking in my house and I got to go down on the street and dig in that hole with God knows what's in there along with the water these are really handy and I'll feel a lot more secure reaching in there with us so don't forget your gloves next up is candles now again it's a representation I have these out here from the candle the candle light that I recently reviewed but these works pretty well I got these in the dollar store any kind of candle is good it's great to be able to make your own you know and it's a great project for homesteading but you can find candles for emergency lighting purposes in the dollar store yard sales flea markets pretty much anywhere and you can stack a ton of them in a shoebox or a storage container and they're ready to go I just had these out here because I was viewing that little light that was powered by them but they're definitely a handy thing to have and even these are pretty cool because they're kind of safe you know you got a low center of gravity there they're not gonna get tipped over if you put it on the counter so definitely store some candles all right here's the one we all know and love duct tape and this is the role I have out here it's gorilla duct tape there's a little more expensive but it's very very good duct tape but you can get duct tape again at the dollar store big humongous rolls of it and it will work okay for your purposes I would say don't skimp on the duct tape because you know there's that stuff that's duct tape with a little duct on it from Walmart that stuff's junk get yourself a couple rolls of the decent gorilla gorilla tape this stuff is really really good and the uses for it are infinite I mean you can make the little arrow fletching out of it bandage strips makeshift ropes belt loops you can clothing and shoes first-aid slings and splints you can even use this for sticky notes if you have an item that you have in your house that you want to remind somebody to do something with like say turn the switch on before you turn this on you just take a little piece cut it off right with a black magic marker or pen right there's your sticky note so definitely a handy handy item to keep one other thing I'll add to that you guys remember after 9/11 when they were telling us to seal up our windows and have plastic and everything in duct tape well another little interesting fact is that the stuff doesn't stick very well to paint and walls even this it's good but you gotta buy a lot of this to just seal up a window something I've done is this stuff here this is that metal plumber's tape this stuff is awesome for that kind of thing I have sealed up entire rooms with it way way way before I did videos just to test it out I made a a positive pressure safe room out of my bathroom with a muffin fan and everything in there and I use this to seal it up and it held this stuff will wear out over time this stuff seals up very very well and the nice thing about this is you can push this down and really get a form-fitting seal you even see the little marks my fingers making on it but you know even that little ridges in it I can flatten those out so you can really really get some good seals with that and that's just that metal seal it's not a word that's just that metal plumber's tape or metal tape you can find this in any Home Depot sometimes I've even seen it for sale at the dollar store but don't buy it at the dollar store I made that mistake stuff is horrible at the dollar store get it from a decent reputable hardware place zip ties these are dirt cheap items I have some big and small ones here that you really should keep in your survival stash and it's something you wouldn't even think of zip ties also called cable ties can serve as makeshift shoelaces handles for bundles that can help you attach gear to your backpacks they can good protect big good for temporary repairs of fencing they can help you save space and wrap them around rolled blankets and clothing I've actually used the bigger ones here to seal up sleeping pads and stuff like that when I'm carrying them on a trip so these are larger ones I believe I got these for $18 a long time ago they work very very well these are smaller ones there's all sorts of different sizes you can get I just didn't want to take the huge pack of these down but there's all sorts of different sizes you can get so definitely pack some zip ties in your survival stash all right next up aluminum foil now if you have any relatives that have lived through the Great Depression if they're still alive or if you spoke to them when you when you were younger you might know that they actually would save aluminum foil as a valuable commodity this inexpensive item has so many uses in a survival situation like emergency meal prep and storage can be folded into a small pot for boiling water reflective signal strips insulation for electronics kind of like an improvised Faraday cage fishing lures temporary patches mirrors there's just tons of uses for this stuff I've even seen people wrap up food in this and stick it on their engine and cook you know cook a meal on their engine while they're driving so definitely again this is from my kitchen you'll want more than just one box but definitely start stocking up on small flashlights ok this is a very simple little item here this is powered by one cr123 battery I believe these are $18 I got this at a gun show I don't know where you can buy these on Amazon but these things are all over Amazon you do not need to spend a ton of money on small flashlights that you're stocking up on they're handy in a bug-out bag they're useful for bartering they're useful in your house during a power outage having flashlights probably the first survival item I ever carrying on my person at all times was a flashlight and it was one of those old gosh she can't remember the name but it was an older one it was an LED wasn't anything great it was cheap seven eight bucks you know but you can find really really good very bright flashlights now for not a lot of money you can see this one I'll give you a quick example pretty darn bright I think it's 400 lumens or so it's got a you know you can take it through the modes here at this little button so it's a very handy item to have you can get a bunch of these you can buy them at the dollar store you can buy them at Walmart for a buck you know those little orange plastic ones you can stockpile those again awesome barter items great and your buddy out bags great for your everyday carry I can't tell you how many times I've had use for a flashlight somewhere so definitely stock them up and no you do not need to spend three and four hundred dollars on a flashlight I know I review them on the channel that's kind of cool to look at but I don't want people to feel I had somebody mentioning you I'll never be able to afford that and I'm like please don't feel that because I'm showing you something you need to go out and buy it that is not the point of this channel points education and reviewing products you may never ever own you know it's just fun so um I want people to learn I don't want people to feel left out because they can't afford something I'm showing there are plenty of serviceable good flashlights all over Amazon super cheap so check them in I just found these in my storeroom these are I I don't use this type it just happened to be left over from when I was rotating I had all the new ones on top and I made that mistake of not putting this on top to rotate it out first so these are gonna live out here now I'm gonna use them to wipe my hands off when I get dirty but baby wipes if you have a little baby you know you need a good stash of these but they can also work very very well for quick showers wash off your hands whatever kind of thing you know quick wipe off of your body when you're really greasy and slimy and feel gross after working outside and these are things you got to think about when you're thinking about disaster you know you may not have running water things may not be working as normal in your in your home so something like that really really handy good way to keep clean and keeping clean during a disaster is very very important it's not the sniper's bullet that will kill you as some people said is more the little cut on your finger that got infected and got into your bloodstream so definitely want to keep some baby wipes around all right next up coffee filters to give you a few ideas on how you can use these things if you're not using them for your actual coffee maker and we aren't we have a a mesh one you can use these four funnels four filters pre-filters for water you can use them to get sentiment out of water before you put it in your filter so your filter will last longer you can even use it as fire starters they're stackable I have probably thousands of these things in a little tiny container you know those little Rubbermaid type boxes probably a small one but oh yeah big and I just stuffed it full of them so there's different types I find this one to be the best for filtering water because it's kind of already in that shape very very handy to have so it's definitely something you want to keep in your stash and it's something you may not even think about you know so it's a real simple item you can buy them very inexpensively the dollar store does have these in stock so for a buck you may be able to get you know half of that stack you go back every week and do that Yubel look a nice - next to the last item on the list alright if you stuck with me this long thank you last up trash bags stock up on cheap trash bags to use this makeshift rain gear sling shelter ground covers carry all's you know you can stick a lot of stuff in a trash bag while I'm telling you to get some cheap ones I also want to mention something this one in particular these are compactor bags not contractor bags compactor bags those have you ever seen those trash compactors people having a house and you throw the trash and you hit a button in it smooshes it down the bags have to be a little thicker so I know I can't convey this on video but this is a very thick heavy plastic it almost feels like those uh one of those those a little bit ease those emergency Bibby's it almost feels like that and if it were a little longer you could probably use it as one but you can use this for ground cover with a tent or tarp if you're setting up shelter you can use it for so many things even a way to cover hole in a window hole in a roof with these bigger thicker ones they're a little more versatile so definitely get some cheap ones but also save up a little bit and get a big I mean I think I have a roll of I have a couple rolls of a hundred of these and they're like seven or eight bucks for a hundred or fifty I forget exactly the amount they do take up a little more space they are kind of bigger because they're big huge rolls because this is much thicker plastic but they're definitely worth it so I'm just coming to an end here I thank you guys for sticking with me I know this was probably a little bit longer than most of my videos but I do want to thank you guys for watching and give some of these items out here just to show you some ideas you know the whole idea of my channel is to give you ideas to help you get better prep as well as show you here that um might help you out in emergency situations and this is not an exhaustive list I'm sure you guys will come up with a ton of other items in the comments these are just some items I came up with it we're kind of people that are new to survival may not think about I know the first thing I thought about was batteries but some people may not think about that you know they may think oh I got tons of flashlights oops no batteries so definitely get a stockpile of china' items easily without putting out a ton of cash and for those of you just getting started maybe you don't have a budget set up yet for prepping you can take 20 bucks to the dollar store and come home with a good bunch of items and you're on your way to getting some other stuff other than just food and water because these items will come in handy in an emergency anyway folks I thank you for watching and thank you for sticking through the video I hope you enjoyed it I hope you got stuff information out of it that you have you found helpful if you're
