hey everybody welcome back so you see a lot of stuff down there well today we're going to focus on non-food prep items that you may need to buy all right everybody welcome back now i realize this is a lot of stuff and um again a lot of it's going to be representations of what you should have you should have a lot more of what i'm showing you here in other words but i'm not going to bring out cases of duct tape to show you one roll of duct tape so we're going to start off with what's going on and what you should do to stay ahead now we all know we're supposed to store food water first aid a means of self-defense but there are other things we need to think about that might become scarce during any kind of unrest or disaster now we had a good quick look into what would look like during the first lockdown where no one could find toilet paper alcohol or many other over-the-counter medications not even food and certain the clean cleaning materials to this day are still out of stock so there's no need to panic but you gather a list of what you might have missed during that time and some of the items in this video you may not have thought of and hit the stores and buy slowly but steadily remember there's no need to rough it when it comes to prepping just because you buy soap or comfort items doesn't make you less of a prepper it makes you a smart prepper remember we prepare to not just survive an event but to notice it as little as possible so i'm going to start off with one thing that i don't have picture here the only thing that's not pictured here and that is hardware nails building material tools um it's on the other side of my garage i'm not going to drink your dragon over there or drag it all over here but have a couple pieces of you know plywood have some osb board have some nails some screws i have a good amount of that stuff put away because you don't know what you may need to repair you know if you get a window broken in some kind of civil unrest do you have something to cover it so you don't know what you're going to need to repair so it's a good idea to put away some of that now that can be bought slowly over time there's no real need to rush out and buy all of it today but you can buy that slowly over time next up we're going to talk about dishwashing liquid okay i got this stuff back here now whether you buy the pods for your dishwasher or this stuff because you don't have a dishwasher whatever you do you definitely want some dishwashing liquid and sometimes this for the first i would say a couple of weeks of the lockdown this was next to impossible to find okay so that's something simple right there i'm gonna move stuff out of the way because i have an item at the end it's gonna be a little bit bigger and we have to move some of it out of here next up of course the big duh bleach um we remember how hard bleach was to come by you couldn't find bleach anywhere so definitely get a little bit now the trick with bleach is to get enough so that you have a little bit of backup but not get too much because if you get too much you're not going to use it you're not going to rotate it and it's going to go bad average bleach inside your home is probably about six to eight months before it starts to lose some of its strength so you really want to get like i store three okay three is good for me i always have two in reserve i buy a new one every week i put the old one in the back i use it for cleaning mopping floors whatever i go through about a bottle of bleach a week so for me three is good for you maybe you only need two maybe you need five you got a big family you're always cleaning up you know so bleach definitely that definitely goes on the list all right next up if anybody remembers baby wipes you could not find baby wipes anywhere for a good month after the lockdown and they're really handy i mean you know people i had oh man i showed a video of this once and people got so mad at me like anybody who's buying baby wipes as an adult is irresponsible and i'm like uh you do realize we use these to wash ourselves with you know if your water is down if you don't want to take a full bath if you're out somewhere if you're bugging out this is a good way to get yourself clean and sanitized and keep your cuts and your bruises disease free you don't want to get you know you don't want to die from a paper cut that's the best way i put it you don't want to get an infection and die from it this is an awesome way to do it definitely get yourself some baby wipes i have had very good luck with these i seal them up in five gallon buckets this is probably from 2011 and i just left one that i'm rotating out now and they're still fresh inside so definitely get yourself some baby wipes a very important item okay next up laundry soap this stuff here stock the cheap stuff that's what i do it works i've used it in the past this folk cheap stuff or you can buy your favorite laundry slope or tide or pods or whatever just make sure you stock some you have some put away so that when you do have to do your laundry you're able to do it and again it's not to be you know a foofy kind of i want to keep everything clean type you know prepper it's for sanitation reasons you don't want to be wearing filthy clothing the whole time there's some kind of an emergency going on so definitely get yourself some laundry detergent all right whether you use body wash or bar soap definitely stock up on it this is what i use some people use body wash is very popular now i still use bar soap because i haven't found body wash that makes me as clean as bar soap that's just you know personal preference thing make sure you get a good amount of it okay put it away whatever you use and remember too to get those little things that you use every day that you may not think of as a prep item i'll give you a good example during allergy season this is the brand of nasal spray i use this is invaluable to me otherwise i'd be walking around doing videos like this okay this is really important for my preparedness my own personal preparedness so i buy extras that's the point behind this stuff okay get stuff that makes your life more comfortable and more as normal as possible during some kind of unrest or disaster all right let's move on to the next thing now this one's a big duh everybody knows toilet paper is in the stores now i know we had a little bit of run on it before the election get yourself toilet paper and you don't need to buy 60 tons of it every time you go to the store buy an extra one real simple also if you use them often paper towels very handy to have and we made sure we're stocked up this time i have a pretty good supply and being that this did look like it was going to be a short kind of situation i really didn't want to go nuts and buy tons of paper towels because i had them and i was able to rotate out a lot of older stuff for newer stuff this time so i used my older stuff while they were out of stock and brought in newer stuff once they were back so we all know that stuff we remember how bad it was to find that all right next up i'm gonna go with first aid stuff um this is my first aid kit okay i made this you've seen my roll up first aid kit this is a little bit of an advanced first aid kit but you know even if you just go out and buy band-aids and some neosporin cream whatever make sure you have that stuff ahead of time a lot of first aid stuff was brought up as well and you couldn't find it look there's some things you still can't find in the stores today i haven't seen butterfly stitches in stores for ages and they were all over walmart a few months ago so that and your own personal over-the-counter medications there i have some aspirin a motrin a couple allergy pills and another little smaller allergy pills in there your own personal stuff like i did with the nose spray if you use it every day if you use it every week get some put it aside definitely handy to have around also too prescription medication now this is just a random bottle of prescription meds we have in our closet if your life depends on prescription meds if you take heart pills anything for diabetes anything like that see if you can get a little extra all right there are online sources that will sell it to you without a prescription i'm not advocating that but when it's life or death see if you can talk to your doctor and get yourself a little extra so you won't be stuck anyway hopefully that doesn't demonetize the video because i'm talking about medical stuff let's move on to the next alternative way to do laundry again keep yourself as clean as possible this is an excellent way to do that this is something i reviewed a while back this is basically a vacuum pressure kind of laundry washer you'll put your laundry in here you'll seal this up and lock it down and you'll just spin it with some soap and you'll drain it there's a drain on the bottom there's tools inside to let that direct into a bucket i also have a very very low wattage that can run on my solar 12 volt washing machine that's about double the height of this so i can't show you in the video but you know it's you know good a good a good size it does about i believe 10 pounds of laundry and again to dry it just hang it up hang it up in your garage hang it up in your backyard whatever definitely a handy item let me move this out of the way and we'll get back to that all right next up we're going to talk about some kind of way to keep yourself clean and your injuries clean okay of course rubbing alcohol is good and this is 50 i tried to get more better stuff but this was all they had at the time i have a lot of the 90 stored too but i didn't want to dig into it because it's my older stash eventually i did upgrade to 90 so i keep this out here for injuries or whatever 50 isopropyl alcohol if you cannot find this and again our local stores have not had it since march the next best thing is witch hazel it does an amazing job for treating injuries treating cuts cleanses soothes makes it nice and easy to have a cut on you you know without too much damage i always when i get cut about however you're working i always pour a little witch hazel on it wipe it off and it's good to go and it works almost as well as alcohol and this is brand new and they have had this in stock the whole time i guess some people didn't know about it great now i've just started the next witch hazel run all right next up fuels for your stoves and heaters and we'll get into stoves and heaters in a minute whatever you're running and you know i have a bunch of stoves so i have a good stock of everything and stuff that's not even up here i even have the green one pad lots of the green one pound propane bottles so make sure if your stove runs on these get a bunch and have an alternative cooking method if you run on gas okay you're probably good for quite a long time you know because you've got that gas tank out there but if you're like most of us out here in the desert you run an electric so have yourself a couple of burners it doesn't have to be this one this is kind of small for using at home get yourself a dual burner propane oven you know a stove make sure you have adequate ventilation when using it indoors but no big deal easy to get easy to use and it stops that you know i was talking with somebody recently who said well i'm gonna have to go out and get some non-perishable food non-perishable non-cookable food i'm thinking to myself why put yourself through that just go out and buy a stupid 40 propane stove or you know one of these online you know for 18 bucks you've seen i've seen i've shown you tons of these little type of isobutane stoves just get yourself an alternative way to cook preferably one that's indoors so if your neighbors don't have one they don't come knocking on your door bar yourself all right let me move some stuff off the table and we'll finish up we're going to go through some basic easy ones here uh shampoo this is a family size male or female shampoo super cheap i forget how much i bought these for but i got a bunch of them and i believe it's at the dollar store i probably have about 30 of these things put away now um always have yourself some shampoo why make your life miserable yeah we can rough it and not have shampoo and use a bar of soap and use some fels nafta soap to clean our hair but why rough it if you can buy it now and buy it cheap enough get it ahead of time hand sanitizer of course um now practically all of the alcohol supply in the world is going towards hand sanitizer so now's a good time to buy it there's a glut of it it's on every end cap of every store 50 different brands buy yourself some trust me you'll thank me later listerine mouthwash toothpaste always good stuff to have you know you want to definitely take care of your dental health during some kind of emergency or disaster who knows how long it's going to last you know this stuff is all pretty available during the lockdown but you give it a couple of months of that and panic buying and there's nothing left so it's definitely a good idea to stock up on and have now here's a little interesting thing batteries and i always tell people to get batteries but what about if you use weird batteries um an example one of my flashlights uses cr123s make sure you got a stock of them one of my batteries uses but one of my scopes uses a button cell a cr uh cr123 no not cr123 2023 uh and make sure you have those have that stuff put away that way you got it ahead of time all right next up we're going to talk about communications quickly that's not ready yet have yourself a portable tv all right most of the news today is on tv with digital tv and this is a little miniature rca digital tv that i keep out here actually um it will pick up all the local channels and this is digital so you will be able to scan and get all your channels in it i forget how much i paid for this i bought it before i did youtube videos regularly so i never reviewed it and that might be a good up and coming review i don't even know if it's available anymore but it is digital it will work well it does run on dc or ac power it takes batteries in the bat and it works very very well so that's a handy thing to have am fm radio you guys remember when i reviewed this little guy the pr15 from reticus awesome little tiny am fm weather band radio definitely good ways to keep the information flowing to keep you informed on what's going on in your local neighborhood all right last few all right wrapping up here because i know this is going to be a bit of a long video a way to start fire okay pretty simple matches lighters whatever you're going to do get them stockpile them lighters go a lot faster when you're using them more often since i've been doing this channel and i start fires all the time doing different stove tests i have burned through so many lighters and the last like seven or eight years that it's unreal so definitely get yourself some lighters stock them away they really last a good long time just keep them sealed up like this even matches are good you know these are from mres but any kind of matches you get if you can find the strike anywhere matches they're awesome to get to because they're good with little survival kits and stuff just make sure that they're in a safe stored area so they won't strike themselves okay now we got into the storage the end of things this is a folded up garbage bag get yourself lots of these you're going to go through a lot of garbage garbage collection may be suspended over a period of time you may have to store this somewhere on your property you may have to store some things in it and throw out other things it's great for moving things carrying things the heavier ones are good for even storing water so get yourself garbage bags i don't want to bring a whole roll of tin foil out here so tin foil great for preserving food great for a shelter around your fire you know wind break really handy at cooking you know when you want to cook stuff you want to bake stuff in a camp oven really handy item to have ziploc bags i have found that when i open freeze dried food it stores better in a ziploc bag than it does in the original can with the lid on it it's airtight at least a little bit more than a can and it works very well last up last three things get yourself some of these these little handy scrub right pack things they are great for cleaning things up great for taking off paint whatever but really good at cleaning dishes with a minimal amount of water and get yourself some paper plates and forks too that's another thing paper dishes paper plates forks and knives really handy you throw them out when you're done plastic forks and knives of course not paper um and you don't need to waste water but this will clean things very very well with a minimum amount of water and i've already cut a piece out here because it's already in one of my stanley cook kits because they're handy you know after you're done cooking you just take a little bit of water swirl around there with one of these you get everything clean okay last two items duct tape by lots of it this is just one of the many rolls of duct tape i have in there you should have seen me coming out here to do this video with bags of stuff like trying to hold everything together because i had to bring it all out from my storeroom and lastly if you live in a sunny climate like we do we don't know when the emergency is going to happen get yourself some sunscreen i did see that kind of run out a little bit this summer i don't know why but it was really hard to find in the stores um went looking for it couldn't find any anyway that is just a few of the many items that are non-food items that you should be stocking up on now somebody will see this at the end and go where are all the rescue items but anyway these are a few of the non-food items that you should be stocking up on right now getting yourself ready getting yourself prepared because it's not just food and water it's not just food water band-aids and guns there's more to it and if you want to be a little better rounded as a prepper this is the kind of stuff you got to put away as well as the fun exciting stuff anyway folks i thank you for watching don't forget to check out our food for patriots link down below we have food in stock there the link is prepare with iridium.com and i will put a little box up
