🦄 PALWORLD 🦄 Dedicated Server Setup Guide

Welcome Friends this is going to be a short and sweet video about how to get a local dedicated server up and running for pal World multiplayer you will need your PC or second PC to act as a server run the server and thus the computer the whole time you want the server up I will make another video later on how to get hosted server up for p world meaning you rent from a provider who hosts the server and keeps it running 247 so you don't have to usually for some 12 to 15 USD month L but this video is about you running your own server step one first of all let's head over to steam make sure you enable games and tools here so that the pal World dedicated server will show up click on it and install it first time running it Windows might pop up a firewall request we have to accept that else the firewall would block it step two right click on pal World dedicated server go to property is go to install files and hit browse that brings up the actual directory with the server files open up the default pal world settings.ini notepad++ is one of my favorites or just use the regular notepad review all the options many are fairly self-explanatory although some might not be and we're still waiting for the official information about exactly what they do we're going down here to the server name description and the passwords set these to something appropriate take note of the public Port here which by default is 8211 it's needed for port forwarding in a moment save it go back to the pal World dedicated server hit launch now it will ask you do you want to do a dedicated server or Community server they are effectively the same they're both dedicated server the only difference I can tell right now is that the community server shows up in the community server browser otherwise you have to connect through the direct IP of course direct IP Works regardless less we're just going to hit dedicated server and play the server will start and it'll say something like this not terribly helpful port forwarding this is a pain why do you need this and what is port forwarding you have to make sure that people who are outside of your network when they try to connect to your network the traffic will be redirected to your computer on the network and to the specific port in this case 8211 so that the game client can find it if you don't do this it will only be accessible in your local area network so what you need to do is configure router for port forwarding now this is different for all the routers they have some General commonalities in that you specify the TCP or the UDP your IP address for your computer and whether this should have a schedule and only be in certain hours Etc what you want to try to do is make sure you put your IP off your PC you put the UDP as 8211 you remember remember we had that public IP and Port that was specified in the ini file and save it make sure that it's enabled if you don't know how to do port forwarding check your router manual Google it try to find out because most people that run into problems with Game servers is due to failure to port forward correctly and since each router brand is different I just can't help you next step you need to find your external your when IP in order to connect now normally that is under the router status page so go look for the when or the router status page which will have an IP address and it'll be this in red it will be a number here make a note of that somewhere because you're going to need it to log in if you can't find it look on your router it will be there somewhere final step start the game go to join multiplayer game and this is where Community server if you've done things properly you should be able to search for and find your actual game server mine doesn't show up I have no idea why it's just one of those things server browsers sometimes are big of a pain but you can always use direct IP connectivity and this is where you put in that IP your external IP and the port and then hit connect that should work assuming the port fing is working if it doesn't work if this all fails well let's look at troubleshooting first make sure that the server is actually running meaning that you should have this window open secondly check your Port folding make sure you have the external IP correctly if that doesn't work leave it like this and hit connect what this basically means that it's trying to connect on the same PC as the client is running and if the server is running there as well it should work even if the port forwarding is not working as as you can see here I am connected and if this works it means that the server is running your client is able to connect at least on the local AA Network and there's something that is causing an issue with likely the port forwarding next step for troubleshooting is well you curse a little bit most failures to connect is because port forwarding is failing if the server is running and you can connect locally like this it generally is port forwarding it could be the Windows Firewall but you might have to uninstall and reinstall it's not often this happens in very very rare cases the ISP block as well meaning your internet service provider that's extremely rare most times portf foring I would spend my time there to troubleshoot if I'm having issues but if you get it all working you now have your server running you are connected you can play and your friend should be able to connect and play as well enjoy if you have questions do comment below and me or another viewer might have some feedback
