hey everybody thanks for much to tune in to check out this removal video this is a 40 minute long video this is the largest removal that I've done this season it's a massive nest and for a massive removal call for a massive nest removal video so pause this video right now go into the kitchen grab a snack and then come back and hit play and just sit back and enjoy this video have you hit play yet well you must have a few hearing me so this removal video is showing the largest nests that I've done to date for this year not so much Nick last year but for this year this nest is humongous so what you're seeing here is German Yellowjackets flying in and out in and out in and out and there's so much activity I kind of know that there's gonna be a pretty big nest inside so the customer said that she started to notice some adults inside of her home office here and so she had or can come out and they checked and saw that this little hole up in the corner here and said they would need to contact me so the heavier contacted me so I came over and the first thing I did was I just set up my gear and I scoped the wall and using my scope camera I looked up inside there and there was definitely a nest I couldn't see how big the nest was all I could see was that there was in fact a nest right there in the ceiling so not necessarily having to do an exploratory hole because it was already a hold there so I basically figured this is right where the nest was so I'd roll up into the ceiling got my little keyhole saw and and decided to go ahead and just cut the hole out and see what we find I've explained this in other videos when I show using the keyhole stones that have used a sawzall sawl sawl just a bit cumbersome while I'm trying to use a vacuum and also and and also be cutting open the drywall at the same time so I made a little exploratory hole there and shooting my scope camera up inside there just so I can see if it's directly above or if I got to move one one way or another little holes like that are easy to patch a spackle so that's why I always kind of choose to do that first before making a big cut so what I can tell is it look like the nest was right up above I could see envelope so I was like well that's good enough that's good enough to go up so so I grab the keyhole saw and just started just trying to just gently make a few cuts and gently because I didn't want a bunch of activity while I was cutting well it didn't take very much at all and they just started pouring out of this hole well actually out of both holes that's what she said and so I turned the vacuum on it and just tried to just bounce back and forth between those two trying to get the escapees and it didn't really matter they were just pouring out of there like I wasn't fast enough every time I'd move the nozzle from one school to the other they would just start coming out of the other hole and usually my videos these removal videos I don't show too much of the process that kind of just shook the winces of certain parts of the process so this one I try to just you know what let me just go for broke and just show you guys the majority of each particular sequence that I record usually when I do a removal video you guys see about probably 20% of what I film so I figured this time I would leave in about 70% of why I film and that way you're kind of giving getting a more continuous video or even removable experience so anytime I was making a cut just the serrations on that keyhole saw was causing vibration on the inside of the inside of that cavity to trigger their their sensitivity and they would just kind of start pouring out and even of course the sound of the vacuum is enough to get them all stirred up so at this point here you kind of start to notice when I take the keyhole saw in that it really just kind of just glides right through the drywall I'm not really sure why that was so easy to go through there but because the nest wasn't directly on the drywall so that's why the customer didn't notice this nest they didn't ever sustain that in theirs I'm not really even sure why they started to shoot through the corner of the dry alarm maybe it was just compromised and they were just exploring or what but the nest wasn't directly onto the drywall the envelope was the mask itself so maybe since the the envelope was touching maybe some of them started to feel like it was time to explore for a larger space maybe so by this point there was about there's five up 200 or so inside the room with me flying around me flying around the window wasn't a very big room and it's an office room but you know it was enough they had a big bay window in the front of the width of the room and that's pretty much where all the adults were going when they were flying out they were going to my big drop light to my left and then they were going right out to the window [Applause] I do show that here in a little bit several times of the the body-count that goes out to the window open it up already you want to see it oh my gosh I'm so excited for you guys to see this this nest is just incredible but at the time I didn't know what was behind door number one so I wanted to just try to see if I could remove a lot of the adults while I was kind of protected from that uh what was lying beneath it holy holy cats activity and you're just kind of seeing the tip of the iceberg there that's just the envelope let's not mean it's the nest but it's not it's not the cone and apparently i saycome funny I've actually had people put in the comments that it's clown pronunciation the way I read English is it's pronounced tome you guys enjoy how i saycome and almost keep saying anyway so the envelope is just about touching that dry white it's not to see how the drywall they're both stained them on the underside so they were definitely dripping their fluids and thing else wasting on onto the top of the drywall I want to get a good bit of this vacuuming you know good several of my viewers like to watch the vacuuming and yes and just enjoy watching the adults get sucked up and that sort of thing this is your lucky day because I did some vacuuming on the inside the room - off the floor and he just could to see all the pile of adults good stuff so that hole wasn't big enough then that's just went further back in behind the that part of the drywall so I had to cut a little bit more so I can get the whole thing out and as you can see that's about almost a 20 inch long hole and you can still see envelope from one on the bit to the so usually with big mess like this I try to vacuum up as many of the adults that are exposing themselves on the end with the envelope so that way when I do tear into the envelope the whatever's inside of there isn't like compounding on a bunch of the de Partie that's what it out so I kind of my line of thinking in my logic is that if I vacuumed up a lot on the beginning that's gonna be a lot less that are gonna be flying around the room as you can see there's already a ton to flying around the room we're not around the room but around the window they literally get away from the whole to the light for the window they don't really venture much into the main part of the world [Music] that's the bottom of the envelope just look at that monster it's frickin huge German Yellowjackets make a very like very specific looking nest and Hannah Boyle they're very similar to bald-faced Hornets and daliyah vets villarin area and how they build the envelope like Eastern Yellowjackets southern yellow jackets Western Yellowjackets their their envelope is kind of brittle and like you touch it on this fall apart but bald-faced hornet s'en are the most durable out of the species of around us where I live in PA but the German Yellowjackets are pretty close Erin area and bold-faced ones are very very very similar they're very strong structures so I'm just pulling out as much at the envelope as I can getting myself mentally prepared for the ganna of just the onslaught of what's about the core out of that hole I knew it's gonna be huge and doesn't matter how much how many times you do this you just can't really prepare yourself for you for being surrounded by thousands of of insects that can kill you oh it doesn't matter you have a suit on the suit is merely a sting deterrent it's not true it's not a sting proof material so what I wear underneath their sweat suits you know I wear sweat pants and I wear a sweatshirt and even then you're not guaranteed that you won't get stung so this is like 95 degrees outside it's maybe 70 degrees inside but with that light head like it's so hot I was just bacon oh my gosh look at all that activity that just look at all that holy cats and see they're kind of going right to the light and then from the light they fly past me to go to the window this is uncharted territory for them they don't know where they are they really can't do much of the they can't do much of a like getting their bearing flight they basically just kind of fly into the light and fly to the window they kind of know where they are listed to the window but they're still really confused and disoriented so I just kind of lose weight there with my vacuum on the light immaculately you see like the numbers already pretty well diminish so between sucking them up off the light and then flying to the window and Lauren is quite as many there at that point they're still just trying to get the envelope out pushing aside the whatever's left of the insulation there wasn't much insulation in there there is insulation backed into the room the little ways up in the ceiling but there was not right there so they clearly had been excavating out a lot of insulation which is incredible see my hands covered in the stinging yellow jackets they sting those gloves when their stingers get stuck and then they can't get out and they you disemboweled themselves or they just stay there pluck them off weight of all ten of them the gloves themselves aren't sting proof see right here just got stung on my finger I was trying to figure out where the Stinger was because I did find a little sting like a little sac but I couldn't really find where I felt the stinger but it was enough to earn and hurt but and still couldn't find where I got it so I don't that maybe she got me through the scene because there's a seam right there on the glove so I put a little bit of black flag on the windowsill so they were kind of flying to the windowsill getting the black flag on them and dropping to the floor and they're kind of writhing around there because they've gotten the black flag on themselves so when people ask me why I don't like tarp off the rims and things this is why cuz they get right to the window and I can suck them right up at the vacuum now here I'm trying to get the the nest down and second I was doing that it was just causing an onslaught of activity and it's not so much that I don't want them to swarm it's just that when I'm in the middle of doing that that is just more potential for them to get me and sting me or get into my suit or latch on and whatnot so I try to avoid the swarming but look how big this nest is I mean that is just humongous look at that that is just I mean that's at least two seasons I was just in all that when I was there I mean it definitely definitely looks great in the video but there's just nothing can compare to doing seeing this in person so I actually needed to use my pry bar to get this off the ceiling and there are so many support structures mounting it to the Loom to the top so this actually wasn't the whole thing this was just the top three layers well bottom three layers so there was one layer still up in up in the ceiling and it was heavy it's actually pretty heavy the hole with my left hand I need a little extra support so that's not even the whole thing that's it's about 75% of it that's just nuts that it's so huge it's me all sweaty yummy so there's one well I guess there was a couple flat pieces left one main major patty and then a couple little satellite patties cake to it look at all this adults some of those a new adults some of them are males some of them are just coming in from outside wondering what the heck's going on there's my new Olight flashlight that thing is amazing it has a has several different settings on it has low medium high and then it has what they call turbo and that turbo setting is just freakin awesome it's just like 3200 women 3000 women and I've always swarms so I did put them see when I'm something off cameras you don't see it's that when I'm taking them out I'm putting them into the Rubbermaid bin ready at the bottom of my ladder so I'm not just throwing them on the floor like I'm putting putting them in a Rubbermaid bin and that it really kind of helps keep the swarm down that of the adults that are inside between the comb layers so like if I just threw them on the ground or broke them apart or whatever right there then that's even more adults like me flying around the room so keeping it all intact and putting in the rubbermaid bin it kind of helps keep things consolidated and settled as far as the combs concerned there's getting last a little bit of remanence that i couldn't really tell if there was what was in there using my great new or light flashlight shining in the hole trying to see and couldn't see too much in it you really don't see a lot when that bails on so this is the majority of the catch of what was on the floor and flying around the room that is frickin intense so for all you guys I like the vacuum check this out this is a true testament to my shop vac that simply has a fem filter and a little bit of water at the bottom of it sucking up all this envelope some insulation to drywall dust and a bunch of Yellow Jackets and the windowsill this is the most satisfying to me just seeing clean windowsill much better but what about the rest on the floor you may ask that will be handled in t-minus two seconds so satisfying that felt so good sucking all them up even though I was having a heat stroke inside the suit and having mini panic attacks in between so I just sprayed a bit of the firming wasp killer of black flag and hopped into the entrance where they were coming in and just in some spots into the space so any new adults are gonna be flying in there are gonna get that on them and be killed and then other ones that fly in there and suspect something is miss they'll fly back out and they would uh they won't come back again so the homeowner is gonna have a drywall guy come in and take care of doing the patchwork I kind of advise them to just wait a little bit anyway just to make sure that the activity dies all right so I'm gonna show you guys the inside of the back here from this removal and it's a lot there's about I would say close to 3,000 I mean 2,800 maybe at the least there's a lot this is the inside of the back and that doesn't really do it justice I mean just start with this camera first yeah you guys see that that is a lot of adults and that's not all of them because they're still summon my Rubbermaid been in between the comb so all right let's dump that out on the compost pile well you know what no we're gonna keep this bucket now because I'll have more suck up between the comb these gloves are soaking wet I have my suit in the back of the truck on the way home and it got freakin caught in the downpour all right so let me go fill this vacuum up with some water and then start removing some of the adults are made between the comb [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] too much vibration [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] Jordi's all the activities could be underneath all [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
