Wonder World - Classic Roadside Attraction - San Marcos, TX - Cave, Zoo and Mystery House

hey you all carpetbagger here coming to you live from the great state of texas more specifically san marcos texas and even more specifically than that we are at wonder world this is a classic roadside attraction based around a cave as a lot of roadside attractions were at a certain point in history they would find a beautiful cave to show the public and center a roadside attraction around that you know adding other features other bits of the attraction so i've never been here before it's kind of been on my it's been on my radar but never been able to kind of figure out a way to come here at the right time and tour wonder world i'm very excited to check out wonder world today so please follow me [Music] you can see here this mural wonder world cave see the different birds there's emus there's peacocks but probably most confusingly there's a pig with butterfly wings wearing a crown it's a wonderful comic foreground here so we just loved our visit to wonder world you can be a family of dinosaurs or you can be a cave woman dragging a caveman uh by his hair with oh look at the spikes on that club see the mural here of the caveman saying i be cavend you guys eating some some lunch see the observation tower up there the texas flag proudly flying all right so the first leg of our tour we'll be taking a train ride through an animal park and from there we will be going up an observation tower going in a cave and visiting a mystery house here comes the train out from mystery mountain under that waterfall purchased a bag of feed that we will be feeding to whatever animals we come across on uh this train ride all right hop aboard the train getting ready to cruise through wonder world oh now looks like we're getting ready to head into mystery mountain [Music] oh look at this the four four orange sheep some emus oh look at the emu i think they want some food they're swarming us you're not allowed to feed do not feed the sasquatch hey mr sheep you want some food you have the sheep you're welcoming for the sheep you want to pour it in your hand hey there what's up baby deer hey baby deer your baby deer a little bit of a swarm going oh look at this little guy here [Music] it's like there's a donkey that doesn't want to move out of the way of the train oh these goats are just following following along it looks like an angry donkey look at those tiny baby goats those are excessively so you guys are welcome to huge the rest you guys feed right here uh but these baby guys they're actually our tennessee nine month old texas longhorn apparently these are actually tennessee fainting goats the guys said they actually used to scare them to demonstrate the uh fainting on the tour but said that uh they got used to it and they don't faint anymore oh looks like a goat actually jumped that good food mr emy [Music] hey there oh he's got little little horns there look at this big old turkey here all right taking a break here in the gift shop momentarily we'll be heading into the wonder cave entrance right here a little arcade in here that's some foosball now i've never seen this before die hard the arcade game now i've never seen die hard the movie which people give me a hard time about but i guess uh instead of watching the movie i can just play the game 50 cents in the spot okay oh guns no one said there's any guns involved there's no shooting [Music] not actually playing yet i guess this is like the introduction [Music] oh okay who am i i'm controlling i guess oh i guess i'm bruce willis punch punch punch punch punch just walk up and punch these guys oh oh you can grab them oh oh and slam their heads against that cool kick give us some karate kind of plays like final fight but it's got these polygon graphics probably um mid-90s era if i had to the guess at one point in time this would have been like really good graphics let's see like looks like you get up close and you can grab people and punch punch oh what do i got we got a broom the mop oh it's a crazy move i did with the broom oh never press this blue button before let's see what the blue button does oh i'm dead we'll never know what the blue button did well i have never seen die hard the movie but i have played die hard the arcade game oh god there you go 50 points nice here's cruz and world um i'm not that familiar with cruising world but cruise in usa was one of my favorite arcade games of all time all right here we have the wizard tells all little fortune telling wizard that oh looks like he may be not accepting dollars right now some fortune telling machines i got a palm reader here it does tell you there will be no shock so you can put your palm there but first you gotta put the quarter in then push down with your palm ask a question is this the greatest roadside attraction of all time let's see what the the stars say yes oh wow forks until the caveman is on point it's the love tester measure your sex appeal on the love meter so see how the love meter works we gotta feed it a quarter and then squeeze the handle there's no electric shock so let's see what we're going for what do i rank on the love meter mild ah bathroom has a rating of four and a half stars wood poop here again landscape 35 million years ago an earthquake did happen and actually ripped our walls apart and that's what makes our cave a dry form cave not like a water ready cave or a lava rota cave which most caves are and that's why we allow you guys to touch our walls and stuff like that now you can actually see really really well in this room our walls are actually once together if you look right over here for me you'll see kind of concaves right here and they kind of convex and on the opposite side it convex and then concave so you can see our two walls fit probably like a little puzzle piece back in the day um our best example is right here we have a little cave oven and the opposite is that cave oven pretty cool but it was just a little candlelight so maybe a little raindrop it just kind of blows out that candle so this right here is actually absolute darkness of absolute darkness you can only find in certain areas are you finding a cage like this you can also find it very very deep underneath the seat you can also find it way way way out and out of space you can also find in my ex-girlfriend's heart some creepy fingers right there very spooky a wishing well here i actually encourage you to throw a change in um i want you guys to look right above me real quick you see all this kind of cool stuff oh wow now all this cool stuff right here is actually called trace fossils yeah you can see the fossils all over the ceiling here well the social just scenario i'm only gonna fit like seven eight all right headed to the elevator here don't leave no one you could leave me for a while oh yeah in a couple hours let's go explore it real quick no man it's cool really water usually there just because of the kind of just the ventilation shaft there's a lot of community well guys we are going to go all the way to the top when you get there though it's gonna be fully enclosed for you guys so you're so welcome to walk around there if you want to um and then right in the middle there will be a staircase so if you guys look at the very very top uh you don't have to go up there if you don't want to it's actually not closed like a fence but it's totally safe you guys are going to go through i had to wear a v-neck with my tricks all right guys you guys come on in would you have uh would you have a bar with no drinks so i'm sorry about that but uh we're in the enclosed part of the uh observation tower here looking down on the main building there there you see mystery mountain heading up to the very tippy top of the observation tower here all right here we are [Applause] see the petting zoo area there across the street you can see almost the whole state of texas from up here back into the elevator all right exit to the anti-gravity house all right guys i only have two rules for the anti-gravity house uh there's no running no screaming if you guys follow that we'll be all good all right you guys both follow me right here running and you're screaming everything is haywire defies [Music] explanations [Music] i'm gonna roll this ball right down the hill you see that but there's two knives with that ball we'll roll right back up which is kind of crazy right you try it real quick all right ready guys there you go over here complete madness in here all right guys all right all right guys i want you guys to actually look at this thing right here for me uh this thing right here is actually our anti-grav machine what we do is we flip that switch and it works so thank you for joining me here today at wonder world a very old school classic style roadside attraction you've got all the different elements there the the anchor attraction of the cave it actually was a first time i've been in an earthquake formed cave so the cave was not formed over time it was created when an earthquake pulled it apart but yeah you have that is the anchor attraction then you incorporate a train ride a petting zoo a
