Will It Run? Yard Sale Chain Saw

hey guys how's it going I grabbed this chainsaw over the summertime from a yard sale it was a moving sale and I want to say pay between 15 20 bucks I think I bundled it with a couple of things he was asking 20 bucks and you know mixed it with a couple things so we'll call 15 bucks he said he was using it a while ago decided getting harder and harder to start at some point you can even get it to run at all gave up on it put it to the back of the garage who knows when and then when I came off the moving sale he was putting all the power equipment helped with it for sale so I grabbed it I figure it'd be a good thing to use during the winter time to make a video and see if we can get it to run so who guessed who knows how long it's at I want to say well guess 10 years it is a 5/10 SP John's read I believe this saw is the last of the actual from that company I think everything else after that another company bought it and of course they just slapped that name on a on a cheaper saw that's just what I heard don't hold me to that so I think it'd be a good candidate for us to bring back to life no see you can get around yeah I do so I think for this one the Vice probably do is the best to hold it will just pinch it by the bar walk in there and then we can get me into it you want to pop the cover off should probably pop the cover off and pull the plug out drip a little bit oil in it because it's been sitting for so long you get that top cover off of there I think where it's held I see the thumb screw there I wonder if those two have to come out off so let's get the thumb screw off No let go and that's a nice color of mold like somebody cleaned it though let's go plug socket for that so you can get that out of there definitely dry long let's go and give a little bit of this is like 10:30 10:30 way this little something up with down the cylinder kit we turn it over break up the got a lot of drag to it Suzanne's more drag than it should let see if it's got spark sure we get around some metal there are not gonna be able to see all right there is there a kill wire on it anywhere yes stop is down run us up that's good least it's got spark all right uh no know anything about it I decided to take see if there's any fluids in it we'll get them out of there it looks like it should be the gas it's a nice green morning piss yellow but I have seen worse let's go and do one side of it should be fine let's just see what's in it if anything oh the smell starting to hit me other gas and I would say not much of anything for the oil so they always run out of it last time it was used I say just for shits and giggles I'm gonna pull the car off of it anyway how about you dump a little gas in it give her a couple tugs and see she'll fire over we'll try putting it in through the the carbon sat down the plug off first just so that the bottom in gets a little lubrication is just gas two-stroke mix no Chuck you've already give her some throttle make sure the chain can spin it just cuts my advice in half shall we whole star in it was full so I just needed itself let's see if she'll go well I guess we start with the pull start diff pop a load of smoke out though I popped that pull start just back into the center I started when I pulled on it earlier you can kind of see the outside of it's doing something weird little fire thus if we get go dump on down it you know the bottom ends wet right let's go take an airgun to that plug I think some of the oils on hello up ways of fruitless right that's what I wanted to hear alright let's go so taking some plastics off I think got one screw left on it in five ten stands for 51 cc's do I got it yeah it's a little dirty she's a dirty girl most chains are lower though just cuz the major so we've got a pull start issue we did with that cover off dogs are acting up in the course the carp nice you kill know where it is I just pulled it off the cover that's why no how would that how would that stop button kill spark when there's no wire going to spark you see something I don't stop run switch but then there was nothing else with it anything that might have gotten got it or fell off and you didn't see it that out of her way I'm hoping this can just get rejuvenated with a little bit of cleaning and some light oil I think it's just dragging on the pause there this is like a good sized homeowner saw and it's nice and light get this little this little lemming saw looks like it's tucked out of the handle huh that come out of there do you not think so I think we need to get one more I being just sawdust packing it up my man second pumps stuck a phone app I think it's just oil II it has to be hunk broken out of it that's why I was moving around around Yeah right there and not in the sauna did not fall out so it's been missing for a while that's it chopped up in pieces here is here's the piece I would say that might be where our drag is coming from - if there's just so much crap accented with a cam is yeah I think it's just so packed that's why it was turning slow it's not the bottom end I don't think I'll show you I'm looking at packed up with mud I'm gonna go take a minute get all that crap out of there yeah hit that blowing off see the pset broke I think it pushes here and here are the two areas of those two tabs supposed to run into and when it revs up RPM do they flip up out of the way is that the design of it not sure let's go set that back on there so it's got a key M that ramps up think about that one see what it says let's go take the plug out of it just get on compression my my fighting to so much that's gonna be an issue I don't know we're gonna have much luck epoxy in that back on there I'm probably going to neatly new one of those I think what it does is it uses this part of a ramp that's probably it is probably one in this direction yeah and then when you pull on it then you hit the tab but after it starts up it slips over this this hump but we're missing it on this side so that's why it grabbed it and pushed it out it started spun around and smashed into this wall that's my guess are you thinking glue strong stuff see if it works that's drying on the pause seems like it kind of sticks there a little a little bit of screen one in there that one will give it to rent a little bath to little drop right in the front - dude that carp out of there anything it's involving getting that sucker out of there huh he's your round see it's high rap in there well it's back when they make good Thai rap sesh you got a metal tank I don't know if it's just gonna use a tire up and we can lift it right up out of the boot I don't see any other more sheetmetal we can remove to access it really other than maybe the handle say I may be thinking where's that going that is going to nowhere right now it's going to nowhere is that just a breather might be remember that where that went throttle is all tied into that so gonna get that throttle off somehow you think you want to try shoving a screwdriver in there just come on get it out look at the handle real quick you don't see look they don't see it coming out of the handle any easier in a minute let's see if we can squeeze that gang out of there I know it's not right but I don't know the combination where things are supposed to be yet how many you want to take the screwdriver screwdriver out of my hand right now there goes I got it calm down so I wonder let's go back yep flip this whole unit took the choke lever off ready to put this whole thing look back maybe drop it out of the bottom here we go we got it I think another shot the Aragon is uh do right now you get two screws right there and right there so that's what's holding it to the front good we're in spring cleaning you can take two screws out of the back of the carb and I want to take a few lines off first I've never seen this before it looks like a spring to be used as the retainer because sure how you would if you're able to spin it you could back it off that's gonna work for us first to me to get the pliers to to want to play bumped into you hmm my work this is look like it's backing up Earl looks like it just lets go kick you to the side a little oh then I guess have your friend holding the flashlight holds us or you can see they can see you can let's go one click in tighter I think it's working I'm just making it up I just want to break that plastic barber off neither you know let's just try getting the line off see if it come off yeah little good that well what's so easy let's go try our luck me on the middle just a simply pliable turn it we'll do what we did on the other one right you seem to work on that one if you guys can see sure we were there mmm can't see a thing can you handle it me and handle and will stab herself in the fingers with a screwdriver generally how I roll close so close humans Haagen email for the worst case you're gonna cut it off with wire cutters we get it I didn't do any favors to that spring on that one though right you got two animals from the back side of it and we're gonna have to deal with that manifold tie-wrap set up up there you know look we are in I think they're all right let's go give that a shot with the air going to blow off a bunch of the crap that's on ya see if this is work force when you nice folks sent me this cool little light that is looking down the intake we could take a look at the the walls and we'll turn it over the side that the kissing looks like my bad little story but we expect it on just yeah chain so no borders look too bad little tiny connecting around don't the lights helping you hurt yeah I'll try backing off so that I have a shot of at least nuts over it's go way back behind you yeah what happens is it looks good on camera they look back and it's all bleached out white but they I'm gonna scream behind here it looked fine you get with that yourselves a nice little desk job here let's go pop some let's guts apart and yes I did buy a carb kit look at me being proactive but I probably would give it a 30% success rate because I kind of looked up the name of the saw and model the saw in the word a carb kit for it instead of looking at the carb see what numbers Ramat they just might be for counter declaration but we'll see I wanna see how bad the diaphragms are generally that's what kind of goes bad in in the myth it gets stiff no it's still pretty probable good because you might need it dig a little further well you don't cut your fingernails want to turn wrenches little break off like real man yeah that's right about where you rip it in half and it's a needle see and let's fuel him from the other side let's go see what the pump looks like shall we I keep remembering to look up make sure I don't pull a thing over here start working on it you guys can't see you one second air gun off say that we're in the middle of this the compressor does not decide to you if it's a weakening take that prey upon its you hard let's hear it hoping you get a pop course I know that feels good as the other side the pin I mean the kit fine if they're not she's gonna be very happy for us it's just not going to feel right okay so there's a little check passes at the pump and they are supposed to be blocking off two ports and and out when the out goes across to the other side over here and they generally lay flat I don't know if it's cameras gonna pick it up let me look behind the camera focus either these little flaps right here I supposed to be resting down see I can push it down look at this one's even worse it's really curved up so they're supposed to they let fuel go through one way and then when the pump pulses it closes that door off and then the other one allows it to go through which is it only does it exit right there and is there something behind that one yeah there is that maybe the pulse where to post come then I'm not sure it's making just making it up now so you can get down at half off she's pretty dirty she's a dirty girl that's some 1990 fuel it's like yeah yeah so we're gonna need a good cleaning let's go open that carb kit up and see if we have the correct setup or not they opening up that kit do you not know if that it's going to fit in there don't even see the big hole set up what about the ones that frame it out if they all go on the same same place right good look different as long as it walks the same holes you're missing half of that army that's all of it so that and see how it lines up to what we get No not it that they are not lining up to those two holes that we're supposed to be blocking and it's not the kid I'll try flipping it over hmm that's suck I should have guessed 100% I never would have it go shopping in the Horde see if it's a slight possibility no we're just gonna need to work with what we got because I know it's pretty full mommy I'm just wanting to get back on there high and low screws which was rich turn to me and see how many they were out that's I think that's the high hold on one second yeah yeah you'll get here when you can't see yep the high screw half about a half a little over half the other one the low is half all right half and a half where they were they may end up being anywhere in the spectrum though by the time we're done I think we should probably it click some wd-40 let's go spray that gasket down a little thing huh well that kind of soak for a bit and we will continue to clean this pig crap it's in there I don't want to mess with that or not might just soak that with some carpeting just for sake helping me get it back in there the filters me let's go try a little yes don't trash it I think we should shoot some curb clean every which the way through every which crevice and then come back with the air gun blow it all out we're gonna leave that well enough alone I'm gonna see if their needles working I believe it is yeah I just blow any air through that side of them turn the valve on and off I am going to leave as that will ever know hello yep bath time I'll do will let you skip that part all those parts are clean let's see if we can Tad's rejuvenate pump over here watching least the holidays I like them go get one easy I mean if you have to we have to but for now well for the six of us hanging out in the garage tonight I think you know we're gonna trace you can get to run that's for shits and giggles alright there's a little I want to beat up on them that's where that big pile of sludge was Irish it waited to do that last huh there's you know twice it going I want to fold it backwards you don't mean okay go going with the green I'm gonna take it out it's done yeah give that I real quick pad down in the ear gunshot this every sue gingerly I'm probably willing to bet that the saw was not run fuel with ethanol on it that's been sitting that long because if it did all this up I'd be petrified like a rock hmm make one of the microscope and give them a little a little what for with a very thin screwdriver to try to get them to bend more in the off position more up in there because this carb is so small I'd rather reassemble it under the scope older eyes can focus on what I'm doing yeah so we're gonna go MIT this part and I'm gonna go jump ahead to putting that together where I can see it get that back in place aha I see so it was like a it was like that I gotta get my mix crews down in there that's filling this up they are I've put them both out about three-quarters of a turn half a turn is gonna make it run lean and sometimes if you go to lean meaning not enough fuel it will not run but if you go rich generally it'll run on the rich shadow just it'll fart and coughing stutter and you can kind of run them into it runs clean and then back them out so that's why I'm walking 3/4 what Seoul should probably do that stuff first huh we need to drop the throttle we need to get the mat back in there right then it can do the throttle and then choclo choke lever just lays in and that was easy oh we have to go fudge with the other ones we leave these off for now to give us fudge room I'm gonna go put the handle back on cleaning it out and then notice that yeah I came apart but it's supposed to have a safety that pops up and that's all the way back I believe that's supposed to be spring-loaded the handle that come up it is not and I do not think this spring is to keep the throttle in place I'm not sure that I would think those two are supposed to oppose each other I don't wanna knock the pain out try figuring out with that how that goes but I don't see a way to just like flip the spring back onto something and catch it it's just too far down this idea that I try and catch I play with a little bit we may just put it on there for now I can't we had a bunch of issues with this saw see if that'll go now everything's gonna go flying the punch should still be holding everything let's go take a little poncho the way here we give it some pieces now so I just make a total mess of everything I still wouldn't see how you would be able to get a spring so what holds that in the plastic pin back there hmm so there's a notch for that that throttle lock and believe that is supposed to be Bentley there it hovers on the inside of it and then you would release it and then that would put tension on the way we took the saw apart it was just laying in there like that this was just flapping in front of it so I do believe that's how it goes but how do you get that setup all the way down in there there lock into place I'm gonna try putting a tie wrap around it and then possibly being able to come in through this little cut that's in the bottom here and then cut the tie wrap F off if not I'm gonna get to one of you to do now I successful this is gonna be that's it we're gonna try wiggling in there yeah wish me luck the pins back in and you think the chances are so that's that it's spring-loaded to trigger hopefully that we cut it it just doesn't appear out there ah you sucka did kinda heck even get it to go up and passed on to that one it needs to be done enough hmm I saw it gutted it and all out of there that kind of has a little wish growing on the end of it don't be sure that's how it's gonna click into you with that that doesn't seem like it's much to hold the trigger from going we are going to try what it has to do is it it passed it on this I when I cut the tire up it needs to go in between you think for the last and final time think we'll give it and what I want too much because I kind of have it in the groove up there one of you would hold that tie wrap for me appreciate it Yes No maybe oh yeah let's light go through its paces first yeah you shouldn't be able to pull the trigger you push that down I win yeah was pretty easy can we get it yeah why am I talking to myself she yes and wait a minute it was the yeah button first on the top push it back down right don't we have to feed all that group the neck underneath and around and over and through the woods - that don't look great that needs to be way over there is your way backwards you just want to not be my friend hmm and that make sense and make sense me and puzzle is what it is yeah then how we work I could deal with that better so now I got to go wiggle and go below it or above it on that fuel line you remember or was it like under the carb you know we're putting it now I remember was tucked under there though no yes we will try to attempt on two see if you give it the whole cama you're like right there teasing me you need a poker need a poker it's not gonna poke me in the finger too from too far forward or too far back where am i right on it right out and just need to push on it a little yep that's why this needs to drop down in would be trottle I get the choke lever I'm not quite sure about this one man and it was just a vent but still doesn't seem right did it go up now Oh got the other end and we didn't think that'd be rubbing on the linkage like that it does not sound like a man joke hmm get the fuel lines back on this all might be from different nothing anyway all right you guys we just saw the hose where it went you're saying it goes now you're going the wrong way you're going the wrong way here we gonna hit that choke lever on there which was what covered was that in this one was it whose let's go get it let's go find it and figure it out there it is where was it then the upper cover drop down or did it go straight yeah I bet you went but you went that way right how do we have that's right go through there no on the back in the back jack on the back of the cover just like that that's right that needs a bath hey we got it now so throttle you don't you don't push that down you can't safety works that works choke just fed through it looks like it clears everything and then this gets grabbed by the cover right there so we just slip that down on it okay done a little bit better cleaning that I'm going work as that thing back in and we had a contortion ourselves a little bit the first time right stay still get that to go where it needs to go yeah doctor's orders think down the only thing we don't have is what's missing from the stops which unfortunately yeah seventh you buy junk it's a yard sale you know you got to a point you got so frustrated you just threw it in the back of the garage and bottom you saw let's get a rubber bushing there and it's floating off go away this covers not going yeah it's just a rubber bushing I'm fighting against gets crushed down on it the choke will work should lock the throttle yeah how's that work this is the release yeah releases when you hit the throttle you see that chokes on I'm going to run him pop-up putt-putt you rev it shuts the choke off this way it's working now well I would love to take that pull start and put it back on but it definitely has a lot of things not going for it if you could see the cover he's all deformed and distorted be sure for a problem I glued that I have a feeling that it's not going to hold very well I can't push my luck you know really where you leave that alone I think maybe we'll try with a drill first let's try starting with the drill but before that yep you need to go put some fuel in it let's go take a peek in there to see how our little dobbers doing there's a float would you actually like to see this off hey so I'm gonna saw I think yes in it let's look at that hook it'll be a filter with a weight on the end of it tries to stay in the bottom of the gas partial look at that piston he hit them with some compressed air actually gonna blow up the fuel cell with some compressed here tip and put some fresh stuff in it see we get let's see if we could tweak that carb and you're gonna turn the idle speed up a little bit and then it's got a low and a high you can hear me dance back and forth between the two of them see if you can dial that in I'm doing it backwards here ah I probably got a choke it to killing us all runt happy for that let's go get the bar off of it we'll go clean that up blow out the passage for the oil feed we'll put some oil in it and run it and see if that part of it works you a little friend do I have to take the whole it's kind of weird hey you got the other side hour I thought you just get plugged up with sawdust to kind of stop them from doing their thing yeah no way bar off let me take the chain off looks like actually trying to push some oil just that there's nothing really in the tank I'm gonna clean this crap out of there you try to leave the chain off we're just gonna watch and see if we get oil out of it you haven't cleaned this up we'll do that and just so that we can kind of do it film it without worrying about the chain whipping around and taking my fingers off while I'm trying to make a video hate when that happens let's take a second to show what's happening right so up there is where the oil comes out all right they're generally they have a a pump and the bar has an area for the oil to go you can see it one there if you flip the bar over again there's one there so that is how the oil gets to the chain comes up through this passage fills up with oil comes through there into the bar and then the bar has a groove in it so that's how the chain gets to the oil like sure everything gets in which back over the top of it throw some chia oil in it but you this is gonna move real slow as it's like 20 degrees out yeah yeah that's where they saw winter blend I went to blend is much thinner I don't have any right now I usually like to use this stuff for I'm recording my cars so I like the thicker well then we're gonna fire it up I'm gonna run it and kind of shoot it at the ground the chain I ended up putting the chain back on and we should start seeing like wet spots in front of the chain flipping on to the ground after it runs for a little bit it'll take a little while for it to load up the bar and then to start flinging it off the chain but eventually that should be outcome of it see in a second for a cold start yeah you can see two lines appeared there seem to do working good let's go sharpen that blade just want to go over and sharpen that blade I hope it shows up you can see all the corners are just rounded right off they're pretty bad that's probably either down to the dirt down to a rock I had this old craftsman there yeah I guess it's probably from the 60s just a guesstimate 12 volt it's plugged into a jumper pack for the power and a lot of times you have a jig that you said on the air and you run a file through it and you sharpen them I've had really good luck using this thing and I just kind of eyeball it and run along as I go along I just kind of washed the edges I'll give you when I go into it I actually kind of lift up on it too if they go in and pull up on so stuffs not digging down into it because you really want to cut this edge not not that concerned about cutting back further into there so coming down and lifting up so I can go all the way around do both sides it up late and we'll go find ourselves a the tree trunk to go play with well guys get to that point of the video I'm gonna wrap it up I guess we can consider that a success it needs a pull start that cog in the center is not gonna stay together so keep an eye on Craigslist for one and the on/off switch we could probably get rid of that just put a regular metal utility switch in there rounded out the ground I use the choke to shut it off and you guys are seeing it run but that it seems like it runs fine and carb actually seems to do quite well it starts really easy now when you go to fire it up so with that guys I just wanna thank you all for hanging out in the garage with me and little bit a wrench and
