Will It Run? Cheap Garage Sale Pressure Washer

hey guys how's it going I picked up this pressure washer and a yard sale when I was down in New Jersey it was like in a warehouse that was closing up whatever the business was and this is one of the pieces that was inside there I grabbed this in a hand truck I paid 150 for the pair so me we'll call him 75 bucks a piece he said it's been sitting it's you need to clean the fuel out blah blah blah and in other words he tried putting fuel in it after it's been sitting a long time and more than likely it has run issues which I fully expect hopefully the pump is okay this is a larger than normal homeowner setup you take a homeowner's like a five to six and a half horsepower seven horse and this has got a 11 horse flathead Briggs on it with the older-style carb like a chainsaw that I believe it moves that's a good time children moves after we force it to move but I think we're gonna get into that hopefully the pumps okay the problem with in my area it freezes during the winter time it's not it's a colder climate and a lot of people do not blow the water out of the pump or not store it in an area where it does not go below freezing so there's a possibility that the pump can have issues with it but that's the chance that you get worst case I figured I bought a motor for 75 bucks that build big minibike well what's good about this unit is it is belt driven I believe I'm gonna get that cover off of there but we can work on the engine by itself without having to worry about burning up the pump but not having any water in it then when we're ready it switch over to getting the pump running and move closer so let's get her up on the bench and see we got and you do it without the ramp that's up on the bench check the seat a little bit better it's got operating instructions crane hook up the water prime it what else Mike don't point guns at point the gun at your friend it is a mitem tonight them there's no oil check there it is see we got a royal yeah you got mud in it it's well taken care of her Lisa came out right yeah all right I think we should probably go and take that cover off the other side and look and see we got for a belt see what we got for a year - you guys see that bear and I can't hit you she loved it when all the stuff washes off and we give you absolutely no information whatsoever I think it's got a tag yeah let's get that cover off the other side it's gonna write up a hard we're gonna be as simple as that one screw yes it is that your belt system generally they get the pulleys off then a way to pop the belts off I'm gonna pop the police up you take the two bolts out on this file and then these two holes you put them back in and it pops the sleeves back apart again I'll show you in a second you want to do the big one a little oh let's do try to take this one off because the tires not in the way the impacts that can do it it's not put it back in and this is a taper collar which is what takes it apart surprise you really see these on this they're more so more of expensive type give it a little ready for your love tap with me with not on the belt yes not what you want make sure you all your belts you know persons [Music] that college you'd open up where this will slide oh should slide off keeping it in there and give it a tap a brass rod yeah come on and you're home free half the least resistance all right yeah we'll just hit the undo button little control Z on this one time the way these work is you have seen them before is this inner collar it's got a taper to it that when it gets drawn in to this one it tightens down on the shaft so there's no set screw in this locking into where the shaft is it's just that when you crank these two together it'll bind on wherever you set it up so that's how it works and it's a much tighter fit to you know there's no slop you bite down on these two it's pretty good compared to a set screw which is kind of we use the set screw owner though they don't over exaggerate it it's off to one side and then the screw is kind of coming in from there he it kind of rocks in the saddle a little bit more than this one when you clamp it down together it goes right down on the shaft all the way around with even pressure and the same thing with the outer ring too same deal so either guy chances are you'll have a spark I do see it has off the side of the engine the low I'll shut off so I would think that it is wallaby on points somebody I'm guessing that on all the other machines I'm gonna say it's mid 90s could be eighties could be 2000 all right let's see what we get it's gonna on/off here which is gonna be for spark also I don't see anything else to you I can see sometimes the cameras don't pick it up though you want to dribble a little bit down in there and give her kicks off horse you gotta wait a second peg that film my fuel bottle let's go give a little dribble down inside October force expect it not you but pull it over knocks like crazy and ready does have a choke and is the choke on or off does either on or off right there easiest suck Aaron I also go he's got a good motor so far warming up the ultrasonic cleaner cuz I definitely think we are going to need it with that carb the other thing I see too is I don't know if that's a sediment bowl what is that it's gonna water in either seventh Bowl or maybe you mix maybe that's made for mixing flute in with it that's I think it's just percent red maybe I'm positive and there's the yeah oil shutoff switch and looks like it's hooked up to a light up here check this French for a mouse now if I fire it up yeah well take care moss and either father looking for you these have a tendency to go the outer ones have a tendency to corrode a pre-filter sometimes I say goodbye to the prefilter especially when it's literally just right out I'll be using that deftly save that one we got one too throughout a fuel and then throttle probably might be able to jog it right out of there the choke is by itself let's see if you get those two Phillips loose now let's see any fuel in the tank tank smells I don't suspect we're getting a ton coming at us let it go you don't think that it actually stood the chance of somebody ran it out of fuel I took the bottom one already joke there somewhere yeah those one down here I took out him [Music] as a vent tube crankcase vent kick it sideways to get the throttle off I can look too bad first sightings let's go open that sucker up and see what the inside - okay yelled that can I use my brass Yost enough and yeah yeah she needs to come out into the corrosion that's on me that's the main jet adjustment now there's the there's a main jet brass rod that goes through the center of the float ball and that flip ball that's who has to come out before it can come apart I see some corrosion on there I don't want to bugger that up I guess so sometimes there's a lot of corrosion you can't get that out of there so that's why I just shot some oil in there to help it and I get caught up on the threads yeah it's gonna mean yeah you see the corrosion that's on the end of it definitely needed to come apart all right so now that that one's out of there we can open the top four screws take the top of the bowl off and let me set you up so you can see yes you need those four oh it weren't even tight they didn't do that good in the beginning let's see if we can don't whack that side of that I need one that's got some authority to it oh just try to break the seal between the look terrible dirty but I'm definitely thinking a lot worse than that some what would have probably functioned not well but because that means yet was dirty but I would put this in the top 10% for not being totally disgusting let's go get the float pin out of it oh well scatter trying to get everything in front of the camera let's go see what you don't looks like and then hopefully that brass float is good too that doesn't have any issues we'll get it the rest of the way torn down and get into the cleaner you get that you ask it off okay we're out should we leave it you don't have another one we are going to leave it I say that now feels like I wants to go as I tear the edge of it yeah let's leave it I mean our decision for us and just so I can get into cleaner I'm just gonna pop the rod off of the ear cleaner that'd nut on the bottom of it area took that off that's threaded into the aluminum doesn't spin the head out of there you thought you could tap that top ring off too I might do that also this first up should be able to pop that off I'll have my magic hammer or we're just gonna leave it alone the last do that's I don't mix but into the deep end of the pool get rid of the basket we're just gonna put the mean that's what I was afraid of it's not that up there I'm wash up there that really needs cleaning up it's mostly that and hopefully our float it's still floating that time we put it back together [Applause] how the car began clean you say we release the goo it looks like this is just a half inch extension and with a wrench on it just say you're not trying to you yam inside there yeah it's first I'll change he can has a magnet on the end nope just a big booger was on the end of the plug so well taken care of isn't it parking it up block of wood so that a little bit of gravity on our side pop the cap too see the air going in will help yeah that's pretty bad he can't see through it after what the pump has I don't know if it's got an oil reservoir or nothing pretty much looks like the dipstick doesn't it it looks like something's in it but I can't check it because it's not sitting level oh come on it's going up in here yes we could spin that listen I haven't turned my hoses on yet winner but I think we're how did the freeze known except for maybe tonight may have to have water upped it to it tomorrow I seen anything that says fishery yeah ejaculation don't use too hot read what you're supposed to be doing only using that's too hot or too cold I guess yeah don't lose below below freezing make sure you got water flowing and purge it with it with the gun that's the other thing too I don't have a hose for it it's a quick-connect and it's not on there I do have one I have a couple that are laying around but I don't know if I'm gonna be able to convert those over I guess you leave that off for now we'll just leave that open actually a quick-connect is that gonna be open through it looks like it yeah don't like a quick-connect with air where it blocks itself off we could probably uh thread and thread that end and put let it cut this back put something else on yes now I don't see maybe not this might be just crimped right down on it hmm mmm I say this is the one we can kind of use - it's gonna be undersized though because again that was meant for like a that's really half horse or a six horse with less volume going through a compared to this 11 horse if that's us an unthread I guess what we can do is that coupler should be the same as that one we can unthread this assembly use that for the other end and see if we can thread that back in there okay let's go see if this other end comes apart first up I'm not sure if there's anything but sleeve underneath here I don't expect that thing that yeah there I think it's all in one piece whole host yeah the whole hose is just twisting a little tighter now that's all part of it I thought so I went to my stash above an old dead pressure washer and they have for free what it's junk and that one's got a quick-connect on it too for the gun do you think the chances are that that's the same size as the other one it looks like it's the next size down but and let's get that out of there see if we can use it well I mean it's stuck in the vise because I pretty much know the answer to trying to get that quick release that not so quick release to move it's gonna need a little bit of persuasion [Laughter] but I was this woman in the junk pile you couldn't guess yeah the caller goes down but I ain't gonna go try to get a wrench on there see if we can get that too okay you get any with orange are you regular wish and giving it much hope yeah you know I was in the junk pile I think she try something else pop the hose off the other end unfortunately waters coming out of it but it was indoors where I got it and as long as it wasn't allowed to freeze it may still be okay but that was you know that was the lottery ticket like a better terms that's weird looking too isn't it try figure somebody's stacked a bunch of washers if that's some kind of spring loaded anyway so hopefully that part of its good this see if we can go swap some ends around and so you can come up with a solution for stealing the coupler so well back we'll play an a which was removing that coupler that's this end of it right there so undid the coupler unthreaded that so we can like look the hose around right and steal the parts off the other end but it's on that one right doesn't fit on that one thinking ins aren't the same size this thing it really wants to put up a fight time it throws some compressed air at that before you reconnect it just make sure we got it that's a yes wash my floor too so put the rest of it back together but I have that nice - I don't think there this is for humanik month I draw a key now let's I think that connector might be what's kidding us it looks like it want it dropped down in there when I hit it with a hammer yeah that's why I don't tell people to buy pressure washers from like a yard sales and all unless you can test them because a lot of the time the the left in the garage and they are allowed to freeze and it just cracks the pumping they're no good anymore oh we're gonna get it back out that's you're throwing investable I did see rust down the other end that's one of feeling that it needs to be tapped in question is will that collar come back up and lock it into place I'm feeling something is it gonna be no I think it's infrared oh I'm gonna rassle with that some can we thank you not the end there try to tap that back real hand now looking like that so those balls are right there we need to be in that far feels like it's there and I might you might try crying a little bit of the end off and see if we get to fit in there these got leaked like I said but for now it's like it's just not quite going in far enough but then it feels like it's it's never gonna seal you know it'll hold it there but it's gonna piss water around the end of that crazy it's not the right one this shoulder right here just a little too tall I need to take some off I need to take it off evenly around what the casting of it is not that great that you can spin it up in a Chuck and just run the cutter over and take up very little bit off so I am going to first set up together the other way see if that was enough so how much searchin you think I had to do to come up with that combination and I'm pretty sure it's gonna leak like I sit right here on the quick-connect but that's what they had to go through they get the combination back to the correct thread the gun that's here who knows that comes unity good at some point I'll probably find the right one at a yard sale or whatnot that just kind of clicks right into here but for now we're just trying to get it so it we could do a function check on it all right that was easy that was wrong what does have a magnet on it it's been green for a good half-hour why I screwed around with the hooves like that back in fill it up a little vintage oil their horn antique vintage one night that cap off of their it's just a sediment filter for the water coming in to get cleaned but it's gonna show get it like seven o'clock follow this leg going down that's seven o'clock you can you see where it's kind of cracked around the bottom and the whole thing is crazed - I wonder if they may have um there's a an interaction between which I think what chemical it is nothing well the cleaners you have spray it cleaner on it and it does that so acrylic that kind of looks like what happened and then they took looks like an epoxy so hard epoxy on it and then theythey smear didn't kind of taped it up we'll find out that leaks I have a feeling it's gonna leak like a sieve also but I also feel that we could probably just bypass that I would be what might be good as a house filter one of those whole house filters we're under the kitchen sink once again we're getting ahead of ourselves we'll find out we turn the water to it yeah it's gonna see what yeah floats still floating that's a good sign if it looks a lot better than 100 each how where it was laying where the line was gonna get those out of here drop it through the bowl looks like good I should have been flipped over halfway through its journey and then that if you could tell no I really need two hands yep in that car back together I don't have this gasket so I'm not gonna mess with it I'm not gonna clean any of that off and we're gonna let the remnants just kind of line back up to them flying back up to themselves and hopefully do a good enough job of sealing they don't they may have to go order I think we may be okay see if we can lock this thing back out get back together Neagle and see an eagle was always holding the seeds but it went into its the on/off valve the carburetor so allow fuel in a metered amount of fuel in yeah I'll try to get the pin back in it maybe not to go in from the other end it was kind of all on it I generally look for almost level with the body it's a hair higher the net now this is upside down so it would make the flute the fuel level a little a little lower I'm gonna leave it alone that's the way it was so I don't want to mess with something and dig a hole and this isn't it's a stationary item and you generally have more of a problem with fuel levels on something that kind of bounces around because it goes to the extremes of different angles you know this a generator just pretty much sits on the ground and hums away it's not like it's on a mower or something so it's just sitting there whereas on a mower or tractor it has a tendency to be you know bouncing around like that so it's a little more forgiving on the inside of things somewhere I have my little cordless because it was literally right not gonna kill it I mean Jacko's him hopefully he's at really simple carps not mushroom at all just sometimes a lot of people forget to pull that out and I try separating it and they Bend that when you gotta bend it back and all the way home and then behind that that needle right there rests against that seat and the taper that's in there so when that's all the way in it shuts all the fuel off so let's get something that's very one shouldn't that's great so that no fuel is gonna go through that whatsoever I don't think we'll never run yank two turns one and a half you know we're gonna find out once you fire it up it's a half that's a one it's one a half it's to start with it there people ask me to what am I looking for when I'm running it well you get warmed up enough where the choke is off cuz the choke affects the mix greatly so you got to get warmed up enough to take a run it without to choke or if you do have it and it only runs with the choke you got a rich in the mixture because it's still leaning that it's dying on you when you go to turn the choke off and what that is is running that screw out lean is not enough you'll lean is thin it's and riches is the other way there's got more fuel than air that needs to burn such as I'll play about that far out this thing's really never gonna idle I don't think I don't think it has a throttle on it I think he's set to govern at one rpm like a generator that's a choke that's in that scene we forget we just had three screws left even though anyway for adjusting what I'm listening for so at higher rpms when I'm revving it up I'm gonna run this screw in the mean until it starts to fall on its face and oh boy it'll cut right out it won't have enough fuel for it to run you know they'll die so I'm gonna run that out till regained this up and it runs good and then give it about another quarter turn half turn back from there all depends on how it runs and that puts you in a window as the temperature of course the year changes that if you leave it a little bit on the rich side you you can stay within the window of the weather cycling then once you get that squared away I come back for the idle I'm gonna grab the throttle right here and I'll probably try to bring it down to an idle and I'm gonna dial this one in pretty much the same way I'll run it into it wants to go die then I'll back it out so it runs good and then give it a little bit more than that two strokes is a four stroke two strokes you want to even give it a little bit even more richer they have a tendency to burn down they run real great but they run real hot and then they burn up real fast so you want to run them a little on the rich side but each one is its own you fire it up you listen to it you know you may run that right in and bounce it right off the sweet spot and leave it right there now that's what I'm gonna do when I go and I fire it up and you see me you know turn in screws so you can get that back up on there I already have the throttle hook to it bottom in there I don't think yes if you'll shut off you look on the other side of the tank there they go pick one up if it doesn't go she has these cars get older this stuff seeps over time is it's always good to shut it off we need the one that goes down below also this setup is pretty picky to having the the air cleaner assembly the rod that goes through it in the bottom bolt up inside there because it creates some leaks going through that most of the work is done right through here anyway but just put it all together yeah you're running either way but for fine-tuning it you kind of want all that stuff on what's wrong good whether it works that different story that's right a little bit of gas in it and there's deviating leagues but I still have the fuel line off the other end I'm gonna go get a cup put a cup under here and we'll let it purge some fresh fuel through that line for a seat ain't crap isn't it that we don't contaminate the carburetor I think he's gonna flow right through you think I'm gonna have to force Amir through it thanks pretty good you can shut back off the line actually feels pretty good I'm gonna use that over now that I said that you know it's gonna leak right there see if it'll fill up the carb and not continue to pee out [Music] choke is thataway open a door I can put a little more gas in put the cap on it will fire it up and I'm gonna try to dial it in with the no load on it let's crank her up hopefully should still be on it's on choke and those screw should be easy enough I don't need a screwdriver we'll see [Music] [Music] when a little too mean I'm just kind of bouncing it off the sweet spot [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] there we go and I may tweak that a little bit more after the load is on it and we get to the higher rpms because it's you when you're watching a throttle like that's idle and it was running right about there and it's rpm because there's no load on it when we go to run the pump it's the throttle is going to be up in this area so it may want a little bit more fine tuning from there but we'll deal with that it you know in that correct time it's too late to hook it up tonight dark out just got dark so and I hope I'll see anything out there plus it's going down at 27 degrees tonight so I do not want to leave this out and turn my water on outside so we'll pick this back up tomorrow you make any difference to you but I'm gonna pick it back up tomorrow and then continue on when it's a balmy 50 degrees tomorrow but what I can do while I'm waiting is the belts haven't been running around there in a little bit so I'm gonna go clean this one up on the wire wheel bench grinder and this one I'm just gonna hit it with a hand wire wheel to deal with all the rest that's on there go clean those surfaces up there's been that call our back on so it's key to the shaft he's halfway hanging in there and I am looking to eyeball where the first crew is for the one that I can go through one once thread what's not you're just trying to eyeball blows up but they're fairly close together because once you get the taper together that's it it's not gonna be anymore tap that one in there and I ball down the Lincoln to play and try to line up what I want started it's going to draw over this way so I'm gonna favor it backwards a little we can fine-tune it after but anyway to get the gun on you got to go anymore cific adding a lot more batteries flashing it's probably flush good straight edge of it on that top pulley coming down to it high-tech straight edge straight enough I am touching that lip and that lip or on the exact same was it doesn't draw didn't drop much close enough works for me sold first cycle the season thing with rust comes out of the hose I'll let that for a minute I blow him out doing this during the fall yeah and he'll arrest let that run for a minute of two so that goes clear and then we'll hook up the pressure wash you see what you get waters not on yet but I I'm suspecting a leak here and probably at the gun but let's go see what we get yeah I'd say stuff has got a couple hundred holes there huh if it's a purge the gun it's guns piece-of-crap tuna it doesn't show off nice a we go and fire it up yes you yeah making noise trying to shut off ants licking that's a couple idea that I suspect it let's go fire this thing up colonel [Music] tried to work big debate about getting your ID here ones alone the wet side yeah you got to get a sign you're right now sorry about that take a moment to clean you up well guys I'm happy with that the end result was again it's got a bunch of leaks that we need to fix but the pump seems like it's fine and the engine does everything seems to be okay that the pump cycled by itself it shut down when you stop flow going out it went into the bypass so the check valves are working or the bypass valve is working in it I think it'd be a really good unit I just got to get a better gun and fix that leak I'm a chasing that go chase and see if I could find this Cup online and don't really know what to look up yet but that possibly you can get that if not again if you could probably just go with a small water filter actually probably get rid of it altogether but and we'll see on that I'm happy with it I think it's nice commercial unit for the residential use it will get it should last a long time in my my hands fails you just cut that end off altogether because I couldn't find the connector you have a hydraulic input on it watch it not thread together and it's got a swivel on it which is nice so you can't take the gun off but I generally don't do with it anyway you can take it off you go and thread it well pipe dope on that should be good to go that's more like it this is a little bit larger so I'd kick that block back a little further just read drill two holes you got plenty of room new bits are up there new gun on it hopefully it doesn't leak it Center water on see how at least the end of the hose is a little beat up the era probably should Arena got the dirt out of it shall we cold start never what to do spec you up a little bit a little too much drag on it go to a bigger tip yeah [Music]
