everyone redirects with valor äj-- and the purpose of today's videos talk about why I prefer the ar-15 or m4 series of rifles now all you 88 guys out there don't panic alright I'm going to do a series about why I prefer the AEK as well the reason I'm doing this video is talk about the positive attributes of this rifle and to get people hopefully some more insights into making a selection if they are looking for a rifle looking for another one so let's go ahead and get started the biggest reason why I choose the m4 ar-15 series of rifles is because of its versatility you can clear rooms with it and where you could shoot out past 600 yards with it yes even though 16-inch barrels very possible and in fact in many of our classes we have students shoot out past 600 yards with iron sights or even with a red dot now if you're gonna use this rifle for home defense I recommend setting it up with a white light which is what I've got right here on this rifle and definitely some iron sights if you don't have those you can definitely put a set of iron sights on your rifle I also like a red dot on there I like my aim points because they're reliable and it helps me shoot a little bit quicker than it does with iron sights but I do have sights on every single one of my rifles I like this rifle for home defense I like it for a couple of reasons number one very very low recoil I know five five six two two three very soft shooting gun in general so that means anybody can shoot it from a full sized man to a teenager and women especially and elderly folks out there have shot this rifle and found it to be very pleasant the other reason why I like it for home defense is because of its penetration or lack thereof I should say inside of structures I know there's a lot of people out there that say oh I would never use a rifle for home defense because of the penetration well that may be true with 762 by 39a k or that may be true the 308 but it's not true with 556 and there's been a lot of testing done inside structures with the ar-15 by not only numerous law enforcement agencies across the country but the FBI has done numerous studies on the 556 inside structures and they found that it penetrates less inside of structures than pistols or shotguns and most certainly not anymore so ammo an important consideration which brings me to my next point there are a lot of choices for ammunition that you can use for the ar-15 or m4 you've got a ton of options compared to even 10 years ago you can use soft points with it you can use hollow points you can use bonded ammo such as spear gold dot or Winchester solid bonded base so they're good law enforcement rounds for you guys out there but also for home defense they work well so you've got ammo selection you've got different bullet weights you got different bullet types and I'm sure that you can find at least two or three different loads that shoot very accurately out of your rifle out there what I like to do is take five or six different types bullet weights and I like to shoot them through these rifles and see what shoots the tightest and that's what i zero my rifle for so you've got a ton of ammunition selection and it's very versatile for that home defense role and also outdoors as well for general purpose rifle folks it's very hard to find a rifle that is more accurate than the ar-15 i've got shot quite a few different rifles m14 m ones aks all that all of the different types out there and I very rarely found one that is as accurate for general purpose rifle as an ar-15 what kind of accuracy can you expect out of these well I mean I pinned on your fundamentals and that depends on how well you can shoot but generally speaking you can expect anywhere from one and a half to three inches at a hundred yards depending on the shooters ability some rifles will shoot better than that I've got several rifles that'll shoot about an inch to an inch and a quarter with the right ammunition from a field position not from the shooting bench guys I'm talking about actually prone in a field position so you can the rifle is going to be way more accurate than we are and in general the rifle is going to be far more accurate than than even a good shooter so it's a very accurate gun and another point that I like about it comes to reliability I've carried the ar-15 or m16 in a lot of environments I've carried it in the jungle carried in the desert I've carried it in Arctic semi arctic conditions and the rifle just works and I've fact I've I don't know how many rounds I've shot through one of these but it's well over a hundred thousand and I can tell you that I've never had a stoppage due to the gun itself now I have had a bad ammo like a blown primer or a improperly crimped around or something like that but never do to the rifle itself it's an extremely reliable weapon if you keep it lubricated and if you keep it somewhat clean they don't need to be babied and a lot of people will say oh you got to treat him like a prom cream no you don't a couple years ago Pat Rogers did test with his ar-15 that he used at eajy and he had several rifles that went in excess of 20,000 rounds without cleaning them now I kept them lubricated and he kept them very wet as that is the word you know we keep them wet and these rifles need to be run wet and he had so a couple of rifles that went well in excess of 20,000 rounds they don't need to be White Glove clean I know some of the Marines out there are watching this and say man that's a court-martial offense that you don't clean it every time you shoot it well look I've been through that song-and-dance guys but the reality is is that these guns don't need to keep be kept [ __ ] and span you do need to clean them and you do need to lubricate them though so I want you to understand guys that if it's if you take care of your rifle it's gonna work and it's gonna work for a lot of rounds in fact this one here that I'm holding my hands I've gone four thousand rounds without cleaning it and all I've applied is lubrication there's anything you can use for Lube you can use grease use slip 2000 CLP whatever it is as long as you keep it lubricated it's going to work even in those dry dusty environments it's much better for it to be dirty and wet than dirty and dry so we want to keep these rifles lubricated in the work we talked about the versatility of that you can use a net in your application whether it's out in the field or indoors CQB SWAT patrol rifle whatever is a very versatile rifle but it's also versatile in terms of how you can accessorize it this one here of course has a quad rail I know there's new things out there they've got keymod and Imlach and all that other stuff all we're looking for if you need to attach things to your rifle like a white light it offers that option if you want to put an optic on there it offers that option as well slings it just attaches the rifle to your body that's all simple nylon sling right here so you've got all kinds options you can literally outfit this rifle depending on whatever mission or application that you're using you know SWAT guys may want to use ir stuff if you use a night vision or people in the military if they're using night vision you've got an option to attach IR lasers and things like that for most of us stateside that just want to defend our fan in our neighborhoods well this rifle here are the white light and iron sights you know that's gonna get you through just about any situation that you find yourself in so a very versatile rifle across the board another reason I choose the ar-15 is simply because in the event of a home invasion I'm gonna have to be able to defend myself against again multiple opponents because if you look at statistics out there there's multiple people coming in to home invasions whether it's anywhere from two to as high as seven one of our members of our cadre is a police is a police officer and has been to a call where there was a home invasion of seven people well if you live in a state where you're only shooting ten rounds in that magazine that kind of limits your ability to fight back effectively that I'm not saying you can't get the job done but for most of us out there we've got thirty rounds in our rifle that it goes a lot quicker than you may realize if you have to shoot somebody more than one time so the biggest advantage that I can find here is that it holds a normal amount of ammunition which is thirty rounds for a rifle twenty to thirty rounds is normal you know if we look at m-14s that's normally a 20 round magazine we look at an ar-15 it's normally a 30 round magazine I can tell you this that I know a lot of guys that are glad that they had those 30 rounds in that rifle if you have to reload your rifle stateside you're gonna be famous one way or the other needless to say though we do need to have a decent amount of rounds if we're facing multiple attackers we talked to guys that have been overseas at a bend Iraq Afghanistan talked to law enforcement guys where they've had to shoot somebody more than one time you know so we have to consider what our application is now I will tell you this guys that shot placement matters more the magazine capacity I mean that arguments not even worth having that said it is good to know that we can have that many rounds in our rifle doesn't allow us to shoot more just allows us to enable our rifle less so a positive attributes of this rifle folks definitely it's accurate its reliable it's versatile we can use it indoors from 3 feet away out to 600 plus yards with it even farther than that you can accessorize it any way you want to fit your needs that's another benefit of it and I think overall it is a fantastic rifle it's been it's where a variant of it has been used by our military since the mid 1960s you know it when it was employed in in Vietnam in the I drank Valley you know and what motivated me makes videos I watched we were soldiers last night a good book if you really like the movie the book is infinitely better but they talked about the m16 very very effective in that and it's been a very effective ever since there's a lot of naysayers out there that'll say oh it's it's in it's not reliable well take care of your rifle take care of your rifle and it will be reliable you know clean it lubricate it you know gatos guys in Vietnam trashed the m16 because they didn't even clean the rifle they were told that they didn't need to clean it yeah and when you take the the chrome-lined barrel out of the equation you're going to have problems well it's got a chrome lined chamber and barrel so we want to make sure that we have the rifle according to the original specifications and when you have a good one you know colt daniel defense spikes or smith and wesson a lot of those good rivals not limited to just those those the ones that we find in class that just tend to work and work a lot better than some of the other ones so you know it there are a lot of myths concerning this rifle as well that it's it just doesn't work when it's supposed to yeah it does if you clean it lubricated it's gonna work you know there's guys that think the 8k is this ultimately reliable thing and you don't even need to lubricate it well that's a hundred percent false so if you take care of the rifle lubricate it zero it that's the other thing you know a lot of people I can't hit anything with it well zero the rifle have it hit exactly where you want it to people think that right out of the box these things are ready to go and that's not true you need to clean it lubricate it and zero it when it comes from the factory so that's the other big thing so eyes are common mistakes that we see over and over again and I'll say that there have been more problems with with guns in class there's usually due to a lack of lubrication than anything else so is there just a couple reasons why I prefer the ar-15 or the m4 and you know depending on what you guys are using you can use barrel lengths fourteen and a half all the way out to 20 I generally wouldn't go less than that although some people do you know I don't understand there's some people that'll do the eleven and a half or the ten and a half inch barrel if it works good for you I personally wouldn't go less than fourteen five fourteen and a half inches and that's just my personal opinion I know there's guys out there that may want to go less than that but generally speaking guys once it gets to those real short barrels or we're losing a lot of life on the rifle itself as well as effectiveness of the bullet downrange so I want you to keep that in mind and I'll tell you this then I know that there are a lot of guys out there that runs suppressors as well that's another benefit to this rifle is that it's easily you can put a suppressor on there pretty easily so I know a lot of guys like to run cans and that's great it's it's definitely runs the gun makes them dirtier and you need to apply Lube more than than the normal shooter does but that's another benefit I forgot to mention hello everyone I hope the video was helpful
