before the release of super mario maker 2 i made a video talking about one thing i wanted to see from every mainline mario game added into mario maker 2. some elements did actually make it in whereas several others were not so lucky so since mario maker 2 has been out for nearly 3 years now and the game isn't receiving any more updates i think now would be a good time to remake that video instead of doing just one thing from each game though a few games will have a few extra elements mentioned another important thing i want to say is that i'm going to be doing my best to keep these wishes realistic there are some elements from these games that will probably never make it into the mario maker series so i won't be mentioning those i'll also try to keep each of my wishes for each game relatively unique that way i don't just say i want to power up every single time so with that said if you enjoyed this video please remember to leave a like and subscribe to the channel at 100k we're going to be ranking every moon of mario odyssey but with that said let's jump right into super mario bros now obviously super mario bros doesn't have a lot left to pull from being the base for the entire super mario series most of its elements are present in nearly every game in the series and thus also make their way into mario maker with that said there are still a few elements that have not been added yet one of the most prominent are these balancing platforms these will move onto mario's stands on them providing for a fairly unique obstacle but they would also be a good way to measure weight as well obviously we already have the seesaw but if we were able to have platforms that could directly lift something upwards then i think it would be much more useful if they were added i'd hope that the rope lengths are adjustable that way elements would be able to go up as high or as low as we want maybe you could even freeze the platforms in place by using either an on off switch or a p-switch there's a lot i think these platforms could do and considering they're one of the very few super mario bros elements to not make their way over yet i could very well see them making it into a mario maker 3. also unrelated but these platforms are present in the mushroom kingdom stage of smash ultimate and it made me discover that terry is heavier than ridley i just found that kind of upsetting i don't know one other thing from super mario bros i think would be a really nice addition would be giving the ability to throw hammers to bowser now yes i know that bowser jr can throw hammers and we could just stack a hammer bro onto bowser however i think it's kind of lame that we can't have bowser shoot out like a million hammers at once i always thought that attack was kind of cool one might even say cool bowser obviously this would be an alternate form of some kind as replacing how the default bowser works definitely isn't what i want on the topic of enemies an option to make one block tall build blasters would be very helpful no idea why they're limited to being at least two blocks tall but this would be a fantastic change anyways that's it for super mario bros time to look at a squeak wool super mario rose 2. of course there are two super mario bros 2 so let's start with the bad one first my wish here is actually the exact same one i had back when i made the other video that being the super strong spring these things absolutely launch you so i think they could be fun to work with on some levels maybe they could even be made sideways to launch a player horizontally they would probably be nerfed a little bit though just so that there aren't too many blind jumps but i think these would still be a fun addition other than that there's really not much else to talk about for this game not even aesthetically i mean this game is just so ugly though that does actually remind me of something that would be a fantastic addition that being a super mario all-stars game style this is a pretty unique art style from the rest of the mario lineup so if there's any 2d game i want to see get its own style it'd be this one sure it mechanically wouldn't be too unique but just changing how the game looks is enough to make it feel fresh it'd likely be based on the original super mario bros since that's the most iconic version though mario 3 variant wouldn't be too bad either wow we really spent half of the super mario bros 2 section talking about an entirely different game huh well anyways let's get to the good the better super mario bros 2. super mario bros 2 usa is one of the most unique games in the mario series which makes sense considering it was never meant to be a mario game despite that though several of the game's elements have made their way into future entries in the mario series and thus also make appearances in super mario maker 2. however what might just be the most popular mario 2 enemy is not found in mario maker 2 at all those being the shy guys i think if these were added they could have a unique gimmick to how they're defeated in mario 2 usa you can't jump on enemies the only way to defeat them is by picking them up and throwing them at something else if they were added into mario maker 2 maybe they could act sort of like moving platforms that damage you since we have the super mario bros 2 mushroom in the game we can basically assign how the goombas work with this power up to how the shy guys would work the only difference would be that they would act like this no matter what power-up is equipped they'd be able to be defeated by throwing things like shells mekakoopas or whatever else at them not luigi though he won't work other than that i think we're pretty sad on mario bros 2 so let's move on to mario bros 3. this is another one that remains the same as the original video on this topic that being the hammer suit it still baffles me to this day that nintendo decided to add the frog suit probably the worst power up in mario maker 2 instead of this really cool and unique choice the hammer suit obviously lets you throw hammers as if you were a hammer bro these hammers are much more powerful than fireballs as well being able to defeat enemies like boos thwomps and even the angry sun to compensate they're also much more difficult to use as the arc the hammers fly in is a bit more difficult to aim than the simple bouncing fireballs power-ups like this are such an easy way to open up a ton of new level possibilities as they can completely change how you would have to go about playing them i think some sort of high speed obstacle course where you have to time hammer throws or maybe some sort of boss fight where you need to throw hammers at a specific spot while avoiding attacks would all make for fantastic parts of levels the hammer suit would also be a way better addition than the frog suit since it would actually be usable in more than 4 of 20 level themes seriously does anyone prefer the frog suit over this anyways let's get to super mario world super mario world is another game that i have quite a few things i want from first off we'll start with what i said in the original video that being charging chucks i've always liked these enemies and they have so many different unique attacks maybe their shoulder bash could even activate things like question mark blocks and on off switches or break bricks i'd also love to see how these guys would be interpreted in the other game styles as the only mainline mario games these guys have appeared in are mario world mario 3d world and mario odyssey seeing as they appeared in both of the most recent mainline mario titles maybe they have a chance my next two things are sort of expansions to super worlds first off i've always liked the switch palace concept if you didn't know there would basically be hollowed out blocks in most of the game's levels and the only way you'd be able to make them solid again would be to find switches on the world map these wouldn't just be standard blocks either as some of them would even contain power ups now i'm sure this would be somewhat difficult to make work since you'd have to require the player to beat a stage with and without the switch turned on however i think it could be an interesting thing to add in if they really didn't want to make this a super world feature though then they could have these switches in actual levels at that point though they'd be pretty similar to on off blocks but that's not a bad thing as having more two state blocks would be very helpful but the other thing i want for super worlds is easily my biggest request for the game that being secret exits people have been begging for these since the first mario maker and i wholeheartedly agree with them these would be great ways to expand on levels and make them have more contact maybe secret exits could even have their own world record times obviously secret exits would also need to be clearable before a level gets uploaded but i don't see that being a problem at all in super worlds these could obviously lead you down some other alternate path or maybe in the endless mode finding them could reward you with an extra one up on top of the three you can collect per level if they did add in secret exits i'm not sure if it'd be like mario world or if it'd be the iconic red flagpole but either way secret exits would be a fantastic addition of all the things i suggested in my original video i'm shocked that one of the few things that actually came true was the addition of the super ball flower while that is cool that unfortunately means i need to come up with something new for this game that i want which is extra hard since i've never actually played it before or its sequel nintendo please add game boy games to nso i want to finally have played every mario game anyways i decided to add in one of the game's vehicles while we already have a decent equivalent for the plane in the form of the clown car we don't really have a good equivalent for water levels trying to use a clown car in these levels is so agonizingly slow so my suggestion is to add in the submarine this would make water levels much more bearable for all game styles mario 3 is really the only one to have anything to make these levels somewhat enjoyable with the previously mentioned frog suit so having something for all or at least all four of the main styles would be nice i'm not sure if it'd be its own item or if it'd be some sort of water variant of the clown car like on the fish bone where drive bones underwater variants in the original mario maker oh yeah dry bones for smash the submarine would also be able to fire out missiles so there are a lot of possibilities for an item like this okay so mario land 2 was even harder than the original mario land if i could choose anything i would easily pick wario but as i said before i want to keep this realistic and i don't think a wario boss is very likely to happen so anyways what did i pick from mario land 2 well i kind of just picked the same thing as the original video that being a space theme i really didn't want to say this again but like i had no idea what else to say i mean the power-ups here aren't really that terribly interesting and again i have still never played this game before i don't know if you have any good suggestions leave them in the comments but do it after the video trust me i do not want you guys scrolling down and seeing a more interesting video and clicking away you really don't need to see another mario odyssey multiplayer video it's okay guys please stay super mario 64. mario's first 3d entry and one of my personal favorites now i could say that i want this to be a game style in the next game like how 3d world got edited into mario maker 2 but i thought that'd be a bit of a boring answer i definitely don't think it's impossible though which is why i thought i should still mention it other than that we have another three things from this game that i want to see added first we have what i originally suggested in the old video that being the ability to put items inside of enemies now obviously we can already do this with keys but i think being able to put in other items like power-ups coins or maybe even stuff like springs would be cool now yeah this could be annoying as people could put a required item on an enemy but if we were concerned about bad level creators the only item in the game would be ground blocks but as for my new suggestions i first have the blue coins honestly i'm pretty surprised these aren't in the game since they're definitely the most iconic thing to come from hitting a p-switch they'd be a small addition sure but i think hitting a p-switch and scrambling to collect all the blue coins to get a 1-up would be fairly fun the final thing i want for mario 64 is easily the most unique now i didn't want to include anything like the caps for mario 64 since i really don't see those coming in without the game style itself coming however i could see something like the canons entering in these would function fairly similarly to how they do a mario 64 however on a 2d plane you would be able to angle them and launch mario out to go across a massive stretch of land i think this would be a fun feature to throw into a level every once in a while since there's really nothing else like it i could see levels where you have a limited amount of time to precisely shoot out a canon shot or maybe they could even be used to get a secret of some kind i could even see this working well with other items too they could work like bill blasters however the items they fire out would be sent at a diagonal angle rather than straightforward there are a ton of possibilities on how they can implement this thing considering some of the games in mario maker like mario world already have canon equivalents i do think this has at least a small possibility of happening now super mario sunshine was probably the hardest game to come up with something for not only is it very different from the rest of the mario lineup like mario 2 usa and mario land from earlier but unlike those games it's also 3d making it even harder to think of something that would translate well into a 2d level creator coming up with something for this game got so hard that i even resorted to asking my discord for help all they did though was harass me with this random enemy the strolling stew so that was a terrible mistake but anyways i did come up with something these bouncing tightropes i do like these items quite a bit jumping off of them can be fun and making a level base around them could be fun as well yeah i know it's not the most in-depth item ever but it'd be better than the snake block at least if you want another sunshine suggestion though i guess cataquacks could be cool i mean there wouldn't be any fall damage so they wouldn't be too useful by themselves but they could be somewhat unique obstacles i don't know let's just move on to mario galaxy now i know new super mario bros did release before the galaxy games but i do want to cover all four of them together so i figured we might as well get the two galaxy games out of the way first now despite my mixed opinions of mario galaxy i do think there's some decent item potential here for our future mario maker game now i really don't think either of my two suggestions are likely at all but they were both really cool so i decided to talk about them regardless first off we have my suggestion from the original video being gravity adjusting semi-solids basically in mario galaxy there were these 2d sections where the walls would have arrows placed across them pointing to where the gravity would cause you to fall this would be an insanely cool addition to mario maker 3. they'd be placed down the exact same way semi-solids are and if you cross over them then you'd enter their form of gravity maybe their direction could even be changed with an on off switch now i really doubt they would add this due to how hard i imagined this would be to implement especially if they wanted to interact with more than just mario but i would really be excited to see something like this the other thing would probably be a bit easier to program and that would be the cosmic clones in mario galaxy you would have to race these guys to get the star before them and they would work fairly similar in mario maker the creator of this level would be able to basically program the cosmic clone as it would copy their playthrough of the level considering nintendo already has the ninji speedruns which record players gameplay most of the work is already done of course the level creator would have to be able to beat their own time to upload the level which could make it somewhat tedious to upload but i don't think anyone would really complain about that they could also make their creators cosmic clones start later than the player by like half a second if they don't want the creator's death to beat their own levels twice since levels using this guy would be so different from standard levels i imagine they would have to be marked as such on the level itself maybe even providing the exact time of the cosmic clone so that you know what time to beat again i don't think this is very likely to happen but considering it wouldn't be too much trouble to program i think it could be very interesting as for mario galaxy 2 i again didn't have much to say it's been a few centuries since i last played this game so i don't really remember too much from it the two things i have are again pretty unrealistic first off i think these yoshi grapple hooks that he could swing around using his tongue was pretty cool i'm not exactly sure how they could work on mario maker since we wouldn't be able to aim yoshi's tongue with a pointer but i'd like to see them try the other thing i think would be neat to see is the cloud flower these are able to create platforms under mario whenever he spins in the air i've always really liked this power-up and it'd be a super unique one to add into mario maker it would definitely be very difficult to develop around since it could be used to easily cheese levels but in the right hands this could lead to some fantastic sequences again it's not very likely considering it's a power-up from a game not included in the mario maker roster on top of it being from a 3d game but that just makes its edition all the more fun it's easily my favorite galaxy power up so if they were to add any of them this would be my choice while the new super mario bros games could be considered somewhat basic they each have a lot to pull from for a future mario maker game for the original on ds i have two things the first one and most important of which are the star coins these could all be hidden in levels in sets of three and would act as a reward for exploration we got a bit of these in the form of the bitcoins however i think having the star coins act as collectibles for levels would be a good idea as it would expand on the amount of content at each level and increase replayability they obviously wouldn't be required to collect or put into levels but for traditional level creators they could act as good rewards for exploration but that does bring up the question as to what collecting star coins would actually do there has to be some sort of incentive to collect these things or else no one would bother i'm sure the levels would track your progress so i wouldn't be surprised if me costumes got added based on collecting star coins the main thing these would do would have to do with endless mode where collecting them and completing the level on the same life would reward you with an extra one up on top of the three you can already collect similar to how i said secret exits could work from earlier as someone who loves to put secrets in levels optional content like this would be really exciting as for something that would change gameplay outside of optional exploration i would love to see the blue shell power-up be added this is very unique from the other shell power-ups currently in mario maker as it's more about movement rather than defense whenever you start running mario will be able to enter a shell and he'll be able to kill enemies break bricks and activate certain blocks it's pretty difficult to control but i've always had fun with it even if they don't specifically want to add that blue shell they could add in the shells from 3d world which act fairly similar though they're just on a time limit but no matter how they added in it'd be a unique one that i'd like to see them try continuing on with the power-ups we have my by far most wanted item i have been begging for this thing to be added since mario maker 1 released as it's one of my favorite power-ups in the entire series that is of course the ice flower this is the absolute perfect complement to the fire flower being able to defeat more enemies than it but requiring the player to go through more effort to throw them in the setting of mario maker though the freezing ability with the ice balls could lead to several unique level concepts maybe there's a level where you have to freeze enemies at the right time to get across a gap maybe you could have to freeze and throw enemies at a boss or maybe you could just use this in a traditional level now whenever i bring up wanting to ice flower i get approximately 1 trillion comments asking about the penguin suit while it would certainly take the penguin suit over getting nothing i still prefer the ice flower the penguin suit has a lot of extra abilities which always sort of made it weird for me to use personally i like the simplicity of the ice flower which is why i think would work better giving a power up too many abilities can make it hard to work around so in my opinion the simpler the better i definitely understand if you disagree with me though just as long as we're all in agreement that either of these would be way better than that mini mushroom garbage one more quick thing i think would be fantastic for exploration and hiding secrets in levels would be these invisible walls okay well people call these invisible walls but they're kind of the complete opposite right i mean the point of them is that they're visible and they don't act as walls since you can go through them well anyways these are great for hiding things in levels like one-ups pipes and start coins this is another addition though that in the right hands could be cool but in the wrong hands we would get a lot of hot garbage i think they would need to make the edges of these walls distinct from normal edges just so that it's not too much of a pain new super mario bros 2 being my least favorite new soup game definitely didn't give me a lot to work with but i was able to come up with something that also did fit its coin gimmick that being coin rings the most common type of coin rings are the red ones which will spawn 8 red coins for a limited amount of time collecting them all under the time limit will reward the player with not a star like a mario 64 but rather a power up while the coin rings aren't the most insane gimmick imaginable they'd be nice to spice up a level every once in a while if they do add in the red coin rings though hopefully they make it to where we can choose what item a player is rewarded with and for our final 2d mario game of the video we have new super mario bros u i decided to dedicate its segment to some of the major missing level themes that i think should absolutely be added in the next title the first and probably most prominent is the beach theme this acts similar to the forest theme that's already in mario maker with the bottom being filled with water though it would have an extremely different aesthetic giving it a fun beach vibe along with it it'd be nice to get some beach elements like the hucka crabs urchins and geysers the next missing theme is the mountains now super mario world's desert theme kind of already looks like one so i'm not too terribly desperate to get this one in compared to the other two but with how prominent mountain levels are it'd still be nice to see finally the last level theme i'd like to see is the volcano theme well yeah we do have castle levels to represent lava they never really gave the same vibes as the harsh volcano exterior but that brings us to the end of our 2d mario games let's knock out these final 3 3d titles super mario 3d land is going to be a short one since it's so similar to 3d world my wish is going to be the exact same as it was in my original video that being these collectable timer items used to extend the level's clock having these in levels would lead to very fun speedrun levels where you have to go out of your way to get a timer or just try to rush to the end and hope that the time you have now is enough let's kick off 3d world with our final power-up of the video now i don't think this one is very likely to happen at all but the double cherry is just so cool it creates a clone of mario and each clone is able to take a hit before they disappear i could see this opening up some fun levels where you have to try and keep multiple clones alive though it may be fairly difficult to implement my second wish for 3d world is definitely the most ambitious though some of my favorite levels from 3d world were these mystery box houses where you have 10 seconds to collect a green star before moving on to the next 10 second task until you've collected every green star i think it would be super cool if they allowed us to create levels in this format it would require an entirely different level typing but if they really want 3d world to earn its unique game style placing i think this would be a fantastic way to do it maybe they could even make a new mode for this where you have to try and complete as many of the custom bonus rooms as you can before running out of time a moment like this would be incredibly fun to shoot for a high score on just band invisible blocks in that mode we'd be good and now for my favorite game mario odyssey we actually have a bit of a shorter segment this is another one that's quite different from the other games in the series so finding something that would fit in the other game styles was somewhat difficult i mean obviously they could add in an odyssey style which would easily be the most exciting thing they could add for me but if they don't there is one thing in mario odyssey i think would work super well in the maker series one of mario odyssey's major gimmicks are these 2d pixelated pipes that will make mario flat and enter a segment reminiscent of the original super mario bros so my suggestion is what if we could add the pipes from different game styles and entering them would not only bring you to that level sub area but also change the level's style into a different game this would be a super fun gimmick to throw into a level as you can make one where you would have to use a cape in mario world and then transition into using the propeller suit as an example now do i think this will happen probably not but i don't think it's impossible i doubt they let us use 3d world in this but even if it's just the four main styles i'd be more than happy but anyways that's it for this video are you all mad at me for not including something specifically
