Ventriloquist derails live TV segment with sexual innuendo | Today Show Australia

well it is the timeless stagecraft from the good old days of entertainment but it's now making quite the resurgence ventriloquist I can't see me speaking it is back in a big way our next guest is modernizing the Prophet actors bar yes he is indeed Nina Conti he is an award-winning British comic who with the help of her very honest friends is monkeying around right here in Australia you know where's lying like her film you don't have a microphone well that ruins the illusion they're worried about it we'll wing it I want to ad-lib ad-lib I can't do that I can wait the room God good luck I want to talk to her who who you're talking to I don't know Hall I'm looking at my very pleased to say Nina Conti joins us now she's just stepped off the plane good morning welcome do you know where you are Sydney Australia yeah hope this come about how did you work out you had a real talent for this I was totally accidental there was a guy in in London who is a very maverick theatre director and he brought me a teacher self and chilli cousin kit as a kind of joke and then I ignored it for a year and I got it out one day turned out I was alright at it accident because it's a random thing DIY adventure looking as I saw teach yourself ventriloquist and I thought never good yeah I hate that stuff it's never funny that it is I searched it more since they were good ventriloquist and you've got a knack for it and I like the fact that you do kind of let loose of it you get a bit naughty or at least you don't there isn't time not to like when you ever pop it out or you happy you know things just slip out the back door of your mind you can't control it the same way that one it's a bit like that's what it feels like it's like yeah so you could get away with a lot oh yeah I guess that's not you know it's not really you and it's not but it's not really anyone else it's just a weird thing to do with your mind to have a little sidekick around well you've got your song I mean it's a danger I haven't been up long I mean we'll try anything good help forget it man just happen to have one in my handbag here's me here we are monkey here we aren't talking you're still talking to a teddy at your age that's really where that's a weird thing to do is he bit jet-lagged as well are you jet lag what if you are evidently yeah I mean I guess so sure weird isn't it she's still not used to it and listen to that laughter like she didn't say something monkey what do you think of Nina what's you also take on on her what do you think monkey I'm doubtful I think she's disingenuous oh that's a bit harsh yeah look at her naively laughing like it's got nothing to do with her yeah I'm the real Nina I don't know what this is some kind of constructing the drinking getting all the secrets all yeah we learn fast and right why don't one of the one of the most entertaining things about your show is the audience participation yeah how does that come about do you or monkey sort of be cast in iron shoes he think yeah good any much I kind of cost it I mean he looks around the audience like on even XI but it looks like he's looking at people try to avoid my eye lying like it makes any difference then he talks to people a little bit he talks I talked with him through him to people and then they I don't know if you respond well yeah if people respond well if they seem like a boy I get them up I put a mask on them this is really doing my heading because in my haven't I'm seriously looking at monkey yeah and looking at anyone the facial expressions that you have monkey of fabulous I don't have any well it's dead parent yeah I've just got one fish you're doing the rest you're projecting I'm projecting yeah I like a Rorschach test I can't tell them I like staring deep into it's spooky I uh I can shoot right in that dirty in that is there any is there anything we need to know monkey what about what do you mean I don't know touching any look into our futures oh yeah really that could be dark and how do you like Australian audiences to perform to are they sort of you know we good we're good yeah yeah she's lying it's really an audience I like any audiences it's just people isn't it away it's wrong but Aussies get your sense of humor do you think so yeah I don't know we'll see tonight's of our show in the Opera House exciting it was a small venue you know then don't even hide ya know me no crime and just the the zoo's just across the harbor to do a zoo not even real I'm not going in there can make a spread it would be funny actually would be scared it's very funny to see how monkey went in the zoo terrifying good I think that pleasure Thank You monkey thank you enjoy your stay maybe get a bit of rest today before tonight's show my eyes don't close [Laughter] starting tonight any Melbourne comforts just take it take for all the details on the show as well done you're good jet lag [Laughter] you
