Understanding Life's Battles

but i want to get right into the word of god in first samuel chapter 17 if you have a bible in the old testament book of first samuel chapter 17 is where i'll begin reading i'm going to pick it up in towards the end of first samuel chapter 17 and i'll continue all the way into somewhere around the 16th verse of chapter 18. so there's a lengthy portion of scripture to pay attention to but i'm excited about what god will say to us on today and beginning at verse 50 from the new living translation we have these words from the word of god it says so david triumphed over the philistine with only a sling and a stone for he had no sword verse 51 then david ran over and pulled goliath sword from his sheath david used it to kill him and cut off his head when the philistines saw that their champion was dead they turned and ran verse 52 then the men of israel and judah gave a great shout of triumph and rushed after the philistines chasing them as far as gath and the gates of ekron the bodies of the dead and wounded philistines were strewn all along the road from shearing and as far as gath and ekron then the israelite army returned and plundered the deserted philistine camp verse 54 david took the philistines head to jerusalem but he stored the man's armor in his own tent and as saul watched david go out to fight the philistine he asked abner the commander of his army abner whose son is this young man i really don't know abner declared we'll find out who he is the king told them and as soon as david returned from killing goliath abner brought him to saul with the philistines head still in his hand tell me about your father young man saul said and dave replied his name was jesse and we live in bethlehem in chapter 18 verse 1 after david had finished talking with saul he met jonathan the king's son and there was an immediate bond between them for jonathan loved david from that day on saul kept david with him and wouldn't let him return home and jonathan made a solemn pact with david because he loved him as he loved himself jonathan sealed the pack by taking off his robe and giving it to david together with his tunic sword bow and belt verse five whatever saul asked david to do david did it successfully so saul made him a commander over the men of war an appointment that was welcomed by the people and saul's officers alike then the victorious israelite army was when the victorious army israelite army was returning home after david had killed the philistine women from all the towns of israel came out to meet king saul they sang and danced with joy with tambourines and symbols and this was their song saul has killed his thousands and david his ten thousands this made saul very angry what's this he said they credit david with ten thousands and me with only thousands next they'll be making him their king so from that time on saul kept a jealous eye on david the very next day a tormenting spirit from god overwhelmed saul and he began to rave in his house like a madman david was playing the harp as he did each day but saul had a spear in his hand and verse 11 says he suddenly hurled it at david intending to pin him to the wall but david escaped him twice and saul was then afraid of david for the lord was with david and it turned away from saul finally saul sent him away and appointed him commander over one thousand men and david faithfully led his troops into battle david continued to succeed in everything he did for the lord was with him and when saul recognized this he became even more afraid of him but all israel and judah love david because he was so successful at leading his troops in the battle i'm going to stop reading right there and i want to use as a subject this weekend understanding life's battles yeah understanding life's battles the reality is we're all fighting something we're all in a battle we're all in a conflict it is not always a conflict that is visible for the bible says we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers against spiritual wickedness in high places we are in a fight and and what i want to do in this passage i want to use this passage to tell us what to do for the battle and to tell us what to be mindful of in the battle and let me start right there for background we have to understand many of you know i put the story i picked this story up kind of already in progress david has already had an epic victory this this is a very familiar story because this was the the battle between israel and the philistines was at a standstill and that battle evolved into a fight between david and goliath and david against all human possibility overcame this giant named goliath and won a victory for israel and judah and we picked the story up in verse 50 where i started reading with there being this aftermath of what david did next and and and the first thing i want to point out is in verse 50 and in verse 50 if you have a bible on your device please please open up your bible because i want you to see this wherever you are watch watching this i want you to see this it says that david did what he did triumphed over the philistine with only a sling and a stone for he had no sword that's good right there uh i want you to i want you to type this in the chat use what you got yeah yeah yeah use what you got yeah i know that's bad english but it's good preaching use what you got what you have is enough what you have for your battle is enough use what you got david didn't have a sword he didn't have a spear he didn't have a javelin he didn't have a bow and an arrow he just had a sling and a stone use what you got what you got is enough for the fight you know why and if you sometimes we wish we had more but i'm gonna tell you why you don't have more the reason why we don't have more is cause if we had more we might depend less on god god will give you just enough to go into a fight knowing you need him and what you got use what you got and then in verse 51 after it says what he did it says he then took goliath sword took it out of his sheath which was the thing that held the sword and then cut goliath's head off to kill him oh that's good right there see you have to understand it doesn't say i know that sounds violent but what is good about it is see the stone only knocked goliath down the stone the stone caused him to fall to tumble but when he cut his head off he finished the job that's second thing i want to say always finish the job you got to finish the job type that in the chat finish the job finish the job some of you don't finish the job you got half jobs done you got a half a renovation going in your house you halfway finished your book you've been writing you halfway finished your certification halfway finished your real estate license you just half do everything finish something in your life finish the job finish the job it reminds me when see see if david didn't chop goliath's head off that big bama just might have had a concussion and been back in like two weeks he had to fight him again when you don't finish something and by the way you it's not finished till you kill it yeah yeah when you don't finish stuff you might have to fight it again do y'all remember there was a there's a scene in exodus chapter 14 it's a powerful scene in exodus chapter 14 where the children of israel are trying to leave bondage and walk into freedom they're they're headed out of egyptian slavery and they're they're running for freedom and then they ran as far as they could run and then they run into an obstacle called the red sea it's a standard of the red sea and pharaoh's army is coming to chase them down to take them back into what god is trying to get them out of and looks like there's no way out and god tells moses i want you to put you raise up your hand and put it out over the sea and when you put your hand out over the sea what i want you to do is when you put his hand out of the sea the sea opened up and the children of israel walked through the sea on dry ground god made water walls on both sides and they walked all the way through to safety and then verse 26 watch this in verse 26 it says god says now moses now that i've miraculously made a way out out of no way for y'all i want you to put your hand back over the sea and so did the waters close back up somebody say finish the job yeah go back and close it up again because if you don't close it up again the same people i'm protecting you through will get through the same passageway i made for y'all you got to finish it because when you don't finish stuff you're going to be fighting people you you're going to end up fighting again the people i'm trying to destroy your life finish the job you got to finish it so he finishes this this giant off and then we get down to verse 54. it's interesting so so by the time david does this this feat the bible says he takes goliath's head and he carries his head to jerusalem he's he's got his head goliath's head and his hand but the bible also says in verse 54 that he took goliath's armor to his tent yeah he's got his head in his hand and he's got his armor in his other hand and he's he's carrying what he killed and he's carrying what he captured he's carrying what he's killed and he's carrying what he's captured he took one to jerusalem and put the other in his tent he's got one in his hand even when he gets back to abner when abner takes him back in front of king saul he's got he's got in his hand he's got he's got goliath's head and he's got in his tent he's got goliath's armor let me ask you a question what's in your hand and what's in your tent all right and i'm asking you because here's the thing here's the thing when it comes to battles in your life you got to foul your victories you got to foul your victories when david when he took the head of goliath and the armor of goliath when he put that armor in the tent right next to the bear skin and right next to the lion's whiskers he was reminding himself over and over again the lord did it before he did it here he did it here so whatever i face in life i remember what he did you got to learn how to file your victories if god brought you out file it if you open the door for you file it if he made a way for you file it if he paid a bill for you file it if he helped you through something valid if you if he delivers you filing whatever god did in your life you have to file it because you're going to have to come up you're going to come across something again well you got to remember i mean something new but i'm false i got the same god and if he did it before he can do it again what's in your hand and what's in your tent what has god done for you before that you can take as a testimony into what you know he's able to do this time then watch what happens next something very this is to happen the bible says goes back in time and in verse 55 saul says watch this while david is going out to fight he says to abner he says whose son is that whose son is that going out there to fight it's like he is who is that now what is interesting for david to ask that question is very strange because he had met david back in chapter 16. david used to work for him already david see you she had to understand about saul saul used to have these mental health like like attacks where he would start having this evil spirit that would torment him and it was so bad that his staff got him some help they said listen what we need to do is we need to find somebody who's anointed to play an instrument and when they play that instrument the instrumentation will heal you and and make you feel better and so they found david and made david his his like his armor bearer in chapter 16 and the person who would play his harp for saul every time that evil spirit would come on him and he would play his harp and the evil spirit would leave saul and with comfort saul so when saul this spirit was so strong that saul doesn't even remember who david is by the time we get to chapter 17 and he's fighting alive so saul says who is who is whose son is there now he had asked david's father to let him come play the heart form but he's already forgotten who who david is and when he gets to this when abner brings him before uh saul and he says to who's your father to david who's your father and david simply answered this y'all he says my father's name is jesse and we live in bethlehem now now why is this so important he says my father's name is jesse we live in bethlehem david didn't say man you you you forgot me man you don't remember me you you know you don't remember i used when you you remember you said i was you know what i'm saying you don't remember he said none of that here's what i want to tell you something don't trip when people forgive forget you don't trip just keep being great and watch this you'll stick when it's time you'll stick with see some of us have done great things in front of people and we are upset that they don't remember who we are who are you again you're like you don't remember me because you listen people aren't supposed when people can't remember you is because god's hiding you i don't even know who i'm talking to right now some of you are upset because somebody you serve doesn't remember you they can't remember who you are and you're so interested in them knowing you instead of the god who made it possible for you to do what you did but you have to understand god will sometimes keep you obscure until it's time to reveal you isn't it like there's a man in the bible named joseph and joseph uh you know joseph was in a situation where he was falsely accused of rape he was placed in jail and while he was in jail he did a favor from one of his uh co-inmates who worked for pharaoh who was in pharaoh's cabinet and he he interpreted the man's dream for him and blessed this man and the interpretation of the dream actually came true and dave and joseph had one request he says listen when you get your job back and you go back and work for pharaoh please tell him about me i don't deserve to be here this is not where i'm supposed to be uh please remember me when you get out so the prophecy the dream interpretation came true the man got his job back he goes back he's working for pharaoh he gets out of jail and he totally forgot about joe's i mean he could not remember who joseph was and god made it so because if he would remember who joseph was at that moment joseph would have got out of jail and probably went back home from egypt but god didn't send joseph all the way to egypt to just get locked up and get let out of jail so he can walk back home god sent him to egypt to be the second in charge and god waited until it was time for for joseph to be revealed and two years later when the when pharaoh had a dream that needed to be interpreted it was time for joseph to be remembered whenever somebody forgets you don't trip god is just keeping you obscure until it's time for you to be revealed so now here comes joseph here comes i'm i'm back to david and in chapter 18 he meets jonathan the son of the king and while he's talking to jonathan jonathan falls in love with him he's like man we i really love you i respect you he has such a love for david that the bible says that jonathan removed his robe and his tunic and he took off his his sword his belt all of his military equipment and when you look at that in verse four let me let me read it jonathan made a solomon pack and this is what he did he sealed the pack in verse 4 by taking off his robe gave it to david together with his tunic sword bow and belt every one of those things that he took off and gave to david was symbolic in some way of his commitment to the relationship he had with david so when he took off his robe and tunick he's saying to him i'm royal but i'm not going to let my royalty stand between us we're just we're on the same level so i give you my royal garments when he gave up his bow and his belt and his sword he's saying listen i'm giving you these weapons because i would never try to hurt you and so and watch this and what i'm giving you has the potential to hurt me because if i give you this if i give you this you might use it against me but we can't have connection if we don't have vulnerability i don't even know who that's for right there see you can't be close to somebody that won't be vulnerable with you and a lot of people you'll never be close to you because they're too guarded and i know you say well i'm guarded because i've been hurt before and i'm saying i know being i know i know being vulnerable can hurt but also being lonely can hurt that ain't that ain't what i'm talking about today i'm talking about battles right now and and this was a powerful act of one blessing after another so first of all he gets blessed with he gets blessed in verse five with a promotion saul made him commander of the whole army he gets blessed with the prince of israel's garments his weapons he is celebrated we now hear in a moment he's getting ready to get celebrated with a song they're singing his praises in israel all these wonderful things are happening but look at the beginning of verse five whatever saul asked david to do david did it successfully whatever saul asked david to do david did it successfully here's another principle i want you to get don't let success distract you don't let success all this success he had he went from being obscure to being famous he went from being a nobody a shepherd boy to killing goliath he is now he has goliath's head he has his armor and his tent he has the prince's clothes and the prince's weapons he's got favor with the king he's got all that but he's still successful in whatever he does one of the most difficult things to do in this life is to be great consistently a lot of people are great in moments and as soon as you start getting accolades you stop being great as soon as you start your your exaltation is not an opportunity for entitlement you're supposed to keep serving keep doing what keep doing what got you the blessing to start with amen i appreciate the amens so now everything turns right now everything is going well david is in a position of authority people are loving him he's been promoted and everything changes in verse 6. in verse 6 as the troops are coming back from this war it wasn't really a war david beat one man and then everybody got brave all these soldiers was hiding until david chopped goliath's head off then they got all this courage then they started to chase people and said yeah here we come everybody's got all this courage when they come back from war there's this parade of women especially they got tambourines and they're singing and everybody's excited and there's they're celebrating and the bible says in verse 6 that they came out to see king saul now check this out you got this is very important saul is thinking okay they're coming out to celebrate my success as the king of israel and and and and he's probably up on the platform as this parade is going by and he's probably like going like hey you know you know politicians wave hey i appreciate everything but you know he's doing on the wakanda and everything like man saluting the military in there oh hey hey you know uh my guy my guy you know he's just like everything is going well and oh this is just too much to stop me that me oh just and then he starts hearing something saul da da da and david and so much noise he's not picking up the lyrics so he probably went as chief of stasi so what they singing out there when he's singing sound like this singing uh oh you hear that saul killed a thousand david ten thousand and the whole thing flipped like it it shocked him it shocked him it totally shocked him i can relate to this one i had a situation i've never shared this publicly but one time i was in i was in a program and a young man was on stage speaking who i had mentored and he was up he's on the stage he started getting emotional and so he starts talking about uh how he was mentored and i wasn't expecting him to talk about our relationship but he starts going into this you know like i don't know where i'd be without this person and and they meant so much to me and and and he's just going on this this like really list of things about how much mentoring has changed his life and i wasn't expecting this and so i'm trying to sit there like i don't know who he's talking about and and trying to be like because i don't know who else knows that this is going to happen and if people are looking at me so i'm trying to look like i don't know and then he finally starts stops praising this person said i know he doesn't like this but i want him to come up here on the stage right now and he named somebody else and and i felt like i was going to disappear in the chair like and i didn't know if anybody knew but i was i felt so much like embarrassment like i didn't know if anybody knew i thought it was me but it wasn't me and so i understood the shock i understand like saul's shocked right here what i don't understand is how gangster he got afterwards like he just went off like he said oh so now y'all gonna get in the kingdom you're gonna give him the kingdom next and watch what verse 9 says from that time on saul had a jealous eye towards david he kept a jealous eye on david this is this is this is interesting y'all over a song over a song let me tell you something when somebody falls out on you over something small always know that it was something bigger that you didn't see under the small thing you whenever whenever whenever you were cool with a person and then things got cold with that person over something small noted it wasn't a small thing the small thing triggered a bigger thing that you couldn't see and the bigger thing was saw was he was insecure saul was a very insecure man if you do study on saul you can look back even when they were going to make him king when when he was told he was going to be king of israel he started making all these excuses about and that can't be the case you know where i come from i come from a small family a small town yada yada i'm not qualified and then on the day of his inauguration the day they were going to swear him in as king and anoint him to be king they couldn't find him he was nowhere to be found in fact when they found him they said in the old king james he was hiding in the stuff he was hiding in some equipment he was hiding amongst amongst baggage because he was so intimidated about the opportunity now on the surface he was head and shoulders above everybody he looked good he was handsome he was tall he was attractive on the outside he looked perfect but on the inside was a little insecure boy that's why you got to be careful that only see when all you work on is your outside you end up being cute and crazy you know you could you can work on all that stuff but because he didn't master he didn't he didn't he didn't develop this weak part of him he would always do wild stuff and snap on people and and be overreacting to stuff because he didn't work on stuff and then the bible says now he's jealous of david everybody say jealous let me talk about jealousy for a second he is jealous of david how are you going to be jealous of david he is jealous of david let me let me explain jealousy to you for a minute first of all when people are jealous of you it is usually because they are afraid of something about you in fact verse 12 says verse 12 says that that he became afraid of david in verse 15 again says he was even more afraid of david and jealousy always morphs into fear it is fed by fear and the fear that people have who are jealous of you hear me good the fear that people have that are jealous of you is this they're afraid they'll never catch up with you they're fade to the chasm between where they are and where you are will never be closed and they don't believe you deserve to be there far ahead of them because in their mind they're just as good as you are at whatever you both are doing and because you keep getting all the attention for what you do their attention is being eclipsed by your attention and so they're jealous of you because they're afraid oh yeah yeah this this must be for somebody online maybe i'm talking to somebody online and you understand i'm trying to help you understand why people are jealous of you and what gives me what really the paradox of jealousy is this the paradox of jealousy is they don't even know what it costs you to be you to even be jealous of you that's what gives me they don't even know like like like you really are jealous saul is jealous of a man who the day before he killed goliath his own brothers were making fun of him for having a few sheep he grew up in a family where he was forgotten over and over and over again and saul is jealous of him he's the black sheep of his family when samuel came to david's house to anoint david as king his own father didn't even ask david to come in the house in fact it was sam and say you ain't got no other kids he had to remind jesse that he even had another son this is a man you jealous of you jealous of a man who one day his own son's gonna rape his own daughter then he's gonna have another son that's gonna rape all his wives and try to kill him and take over his kingdom and you jealous of him people are jealous of you they don't even know what you've been through what you're going through what you grew up in what dysfunctions in your life they watch this they want your life but they don't want the pain they want your car but they don't want the condo they want your house they don't want the mortgage they want your gifts they want your gift but they don't even know what it costs you to use your gift and to be to keep your flesh under subjection so that you can be used they think they want your life they want your wife they want your husband they have no idea what it costs to be you who am i talking to right now people are jealous of you they don't even know you they don't even know you said i want to be i want i want to be and and and and this jealousy is being fed by fear and watch this watch this watch this another reason i'm going to be i can take my time let me say this he says he says um from that time on he kept a jealous eye on david and verse 10 says watch this the next morning this spirit came on from god tormented him and he starts going crazy in his house like a madman he's yelling he's got but watch this watch this david is doing what he always did he's trying to play his harp because he's seen this before all right he tripping let me go ahead and play uh what a mighty god we serve or something like come holy spirit come heavenly dove stay right here with us filling us with your love something let me play this and play this song get him back together but it didn't work because watch this david had a harp in his hand but saul had a spear in his hand and based on what was coming out of his mouth and what was in his hand revealed what was in his soul so david is trying to serve him and he's trying to set david up and he and the man just went off and snapped and verse 11 says he hurled the spirit david and david tried to kill him and david avoided him twice now that got me because i can work for somebody try to kill me but it won't be twice how's he still working there but when you study it see what happened was when you study it in chapter 19 the same thing happened again by the way in chapter 19. he threw a spirit david and it got stuck in the wall and david ran this time it didn't get stuck in the wall because he wasn't throwing it to david this man was literally lunging at david trying to stab him with the spear that's how crazy this situation was and david got away from him and when david got away from him the bible says in verse 12 look at verse 12 when david got away from the bible says and saul got scared of him and that threw me off right there how in the world can saul be the one that's scared the saul's trying to kill this man trying to take everything from this man and the bible says saul is scared how is that possible and here's why here's what you have to understand when you're in a battle when the enemy is trying to take you out what scares the enemy is your ability to keep bouncing back that's what he's scared of he's scared because he keeps bouncing back now hold that thought right there for a minute i'm gonna come back to it when the bible says saul had a spear in his hand and he tried to spear david twice that's the same thing goliath was going to use against david stay with me goliath was had a spear he never got to use it but goliath tried to kill the spirit and in chapter 19 there was a spear again to try to attack him here's what i want you to understand when it comes to an attack please please note this when the enemy attacks you he will always use the same weapon and he'll always come at the same area of your life watch the pattern watch the pattern watch the pattern of how the enemy attacks you it's the same spear and it's the end it's the same sphere oh that's good right there you you you already know see whoever i'm preaching to right now it's just gird up because you already know it's coming and you know where it's coming because it always comes in the same spot it's the same spear and it's the same sphere some of you it's always in your household it's always your child it's always your spouse it's always a sibling it's always a parent it's always in your husband some of you is always medical it is always something medical the devil is always attacking a part of your body a part of your health it is always better some of you is mentally somebody the devil will try to attack your mind try to attack you psychologically try to attack your thought life and make you depressed it is always the same as that some of you he always comes at you financially he's been coming at your family generationally financially it's the same who am i talking to it's the same spear it's the same sphere and the enemy will always come at you the same way now let me tell you why he keeps coming after you he keeps coming after you with the same spear in the same sphere because he's intimidated by you the reason why saul is trying to kill david is because david is a threat and i ain't even trying to make you feel i ain't trying to pump you up i ain't trying to slice you up i ain't trying to make you feel great or anything i'm preaching to myself too the reason why we keep getting attacked is cause we're a threat if you weren't a threat you wouldn't be under attack if you were in a danger you wouldn't be under attack the reason why the enemy keeps coming after you is because you're a threat because he knows what you're capable of what god's doing in your life and what god might do in your life but watch this watch this this is why the person is trying to kill david is scared of them this got me he says in verse 12 right after he hurled this they tried to get david twice the bible says after david escaped saul was scared why is he scared he's scared because this man keeps bouncing back the enemy okay this is what i want you to do in the world of boxing i'm a boxing fan in the world of boxing it's called bobbing and weaving so so you know so every now and then when a box is boxing and somebody throws a punch at him the a bob is a duck right and a weed goes like this so a bob and a weave is like this so i want you to do me a favor i want you to do me a favor whether you're here it's just a few people in here or you are online i can't see you but i want you to stand up and i want you to do me a favor i want you to bob and weave real quick actually i want to show you something the the point of bobbing and we even is you go like this you're standing up then you go like this that's bob that's a duck then you weave because you're getting out it and you come up like this right so it's a bob and a weave what i'm trying to do is i'm trying to get the devil to see how you keep ducking and trucking you understand saying is that see what she was throwing the devil off was throwing the devil off my message to devil the reason why the devil is intimidated by you is not because see understand a bob and a weave a bob and a weave starts with a stance you're upright then you then you get attacked so you bob then you weave and you stand back up you don't say i'm saying you you see what i'm going see see that's that's see you y'all missed that that was an opportunity right there see what happens is with what's throwing the devil off is see when he comes at you if you're standing then you bob and you weave and you back up again what's messing the devil up is not your first stance it's the second stance what he can't understand is why is it that when you keep ducking you keep bouncing back up why is it that every time i attack you i'm expecting you to die i'm expecting you to quit i'm expecting you to give up but what he doesn't understand is when i was bobbing i was praying and the reason why i keep getting up is because greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world that's what scares the devil the devil had a plan i don't even know who i'm preaching to it here but the devil had a plan for some of y'all's life and it was already set the suicide plan was already in place he made you feel lonely enough he made you feel dark enough he made you feel empty enough the plan was already in place and look at you you're still here worshiping god serving god and the devil is scratching his head how does she keep bouncing back some of y'all he has you back against the wall you were mocked you were shamed you were persecuted people were trolling you making fun of you and you're still here because god has made a way for you to keep ducking and you keep struck him you're just bobbing and weaving and the devil can't understand why you're still standing it's because our god is greater our god is stronger god you are higher than any other our god is healer awesome in power our god our and if our god is for us then who could ever stop us if our god is with us then what can stand against you're here right now because god lets you keep ducking and trucking somebody says bob and we want to just let them know i'm still here i know i went down but when i went down i was praying i know you thought you had me out but when i went out i was praying and because i prayed i'm still here [Music] so david i'm almost done so david but this is the thing this thing this other thing got me i said well why david he's dealing with this in chapter 16. this man is crazy then chapter 17 the man needs so david the man needed his help in chapter 16 to get his mind right didn't need him in chapter 17 because he had everybody good life had everybody scared david came through for him then then chapter 18 the man gonna kill him over a song not an insurrection a song not an uprising a song now it wasn't even the song david had wrote over david wasn't even singing it a song some women was singing and now the man wants to kill him and what got me is well david what you back in there doing in chapter 19. you look read chapter 19. the man tried to do it again so i said okay what is the situation here and this since i'm going deep let me go ahead let me go let me go deeper with you the reason why the enemy can use certain people in your life to keep attacking you is because of your loyalty yeah the reason why david is still around in chapter 19 is because he was loyal to saul and he loved saul and he respected saul and the truth be told some of the very people that the devil using is using to attack you you're more loyal to them than they are to you and the devil is using them to attack you and you're still there because you're loyal because you're not a quitter and you don't walk away easily oh yeah i don't even know who i'm helping now i feel like i'm talking to somebody right now i feel like i'm talking to somebody helping you make sense out of why you keep going through what you're going through and the people that the devil is using to attack you it is because you're loyal you don't quit easy you love hard and you love to the end but i want to tell you this if the relationship is abusive i want to tell you this i this i do know you need to get out you need to get out of it you need to find a way out you need to either put an end to the relationship or into the behavior let them get some help find a way but get out now i'm gonna wrap this up so in verse 13 as david is demoted that's what happens so this is how saul decided to handle he can't kill him so he says that's what i'm gonna do i'm gonna send you i want you now to be you're gonna be over to a thousand soldiers now now when you look at verse 13 that's a demotion in verse five he was the commander of the whole army now he's being put over brigade brigade you know people are jealous of you when they demote you when you're doing good whoo whoever this point you can't even say nothing you just gotta look straight ahead because you know say act like it ain't you and so he demotes him trying to defame him maybe make him vulnerable maybe he'll get killed out there maybe people won't even recognize him if i put him in an obscure role but verse 14 says he kept on rolling he kept being successful and what he whatever he did no matter where you put him he was successful and verse 15 says that saul got more scared of them and then it says and and the people loved them so he's got jonathan's love he's got the people's love he's got saul hates saul's hatred here's my last thing i want to tell you it doesn't matter when somebody try to stop you they can't whoever's trying to stop you they can't that's a word for somebody whoever's trying to stop you they can't no matter what they do they can't stop you there's no way that that saul can stop what god's gonna do in david's life he can't stop it and while saul is against him saul's son is formed the people of israel are for him that's why whenever the reason why we get depressed is because we keep paying attention to who's against us look around and who's for you who's for you you keep counting all about everybody that's again you know just you you're so focused on who's against you listen god will let me say this how do i say it there is no ascension without opposition you can't rise without somebody not liking you why do we think that yeah everybody like you before because you weren't a threat as soon as you got promoted [Music] now i want you to do something before we go i want you to take a minute to reflect on this message like what is it what is it the part of it that was for you not just the part that i don't just want you to be excited i want you to be i want i want you to be effective in your battle what is it that you noted what is it that you highlighted what is it you put a little asterisk beside or wrote a note to yourself do that is it that he just wants you to work with what you got stop asking god for more stop asking god for easier as jim rohn said don't don't ask for life to be easier it has to be tougher maybe he's trying to show you the pattern can you see the pattern do you see how the enemy attacks you the same way you've been getting attacked like like that and that same thing that same the same spear the same sphere but here's the constant too the faithfulness of god that keeps you rising up again every time and by the way i said a minute ago you cannot ascend without opposition and sometimes the opposition is jealousy you got to have a jealousy plan you really do you understand where jealousy comes from it comes from fear and this person is afraid that they won't have what they want in life because in their mind i'm in the way of it or i'm getting too much attention it's not even your issue their jealousy is really none of your business and if they walked a day in your shoes they would never be jealous of you again if they just knew what it cost you to do what you do and to have what you have you'd be surprised at what people have to go through to be who they are and you're jealous i want you to take a minute before we leave and just hold on to something from this word that'll help you when you you're in the fight and know that if god be for us yeah i don't care what kind of spirit is or what kind of sphere it is no weapon that's formed no blacksmith in his quarters that's forming something no strategy meant to tear you down is gonna prosper it won't work yeah it's not going to work god will block it it will be formed but he'll stop it it's going to be formed because of how dangerous you are you're a target because you're a threat but every weapon that's formed against you will be destroyed just keep walking if people don't remember you that's cool they'll know you when it's time thank you lord thank you for your word it's still a lamp unto our feet it's a light unto our path and i pray that this word will strengthen us and uphold us and bless
