Tree COLLAPSES Climber ESCAPES

wow [Applause] and that's why we're being careful with what we hook on to i'm gonna watch this video with you and do a voiceover so that as i think of things i can just say them and not have to type it so i sent myself in with praying here so hey youtube what's up i'm uh going to do a little job for the city it's a tree that tipped over in a creek we just got to get it out of there i think and move on with our lives and today it'll be real simple and it's barely worth mentioning or at least that's the way it feels i got a comment recently from a guy that said i can't believe how much tree service content there is on youtube he says he didn't understand why ordinary people doing their ordinary jobs would be video worthy and uh yeah that's i told him hey youtube is all about the ordinary that's what it is it was left up to hollywood to tell you how things happened before youtube youtube came along and it turns out whoa people look kind of like a dose of reality some of them and so yeah that's what it is man ordinary people doing ordinary stuff and a few extraordinary people perhaps doing twisty spinny flips or something but not us extremely ordinary we're extra ordinary so that's what we'll have for you today come on see that's an ordinary shift so here i'm just going to take a big top the idea being that you cut off everything that is not hung [Music] up cutting that one off because it goes out behind me and if it were to suddenly dislodge i don't want to get slapped or worse pretty awesome to have the crane there because i can get the perfect tie-in where there is none i could just cut these two off that alder's hammered i could just cut it all down to the next crotch that's probably what i should do i mean it's more to clean up if we do that but it'll also like it would suck if that thing broke this limb off as it started to settle like peeled it off of there because that thing would be hungering for me bad and it's not good it's not valuable enough to worry about this whole thing cut it off and then all those tear outs aren't gonna do this all or any good so i can cut that off and then there's nothing above me as i'm tripping this stuff you know what i mean because i'm gonna be tripping dude so basically more of the same we are saving the older so the crane helps us to not have any more damage than we need to but this is so hammered so many tear outs and the danger of it being knocked by the tree if it suddenly dislodges and hitting me is more important so i'm giving some free pruning thank you in case somebody might say well why don't you use the bucket it's cleaner to drop in with less of what's holding you up around what's going to be moving if that makes sense plus you gotta get the truck kind of close and truck to uh where you're bombing stuff anyway we have reasons now i'm just gonna slowly settle it down there's a lot of pressure on the bar here [Music] so i'm going to make this cut kind of like a little shelf cut here and when it does pop it'll push the the piece away from me because some of these if you're not careful you'll end up with a big piece of wood in your face from the pressure when it lets go this one was deliberate so there you can see the alder pop up and the cotton would slide down a little more i told damien it might not chip he thought it would he was right i thought it might be just a little too tall for the wheel that's bound up really hard hmm as it starts to pinch the bar pretty hard [Music] then i come in from the bottom damien kept smelling poo i couldn't figure out why i saw adam with a little stick and he was like scraping on my saw wow what a crappy job and i was like why is he poking my saw with a stick adam's doing a nice little clean job it's so funny because damien was sharpening the saw and he was like keep smelling dog just keep smelling dog where's it coming from and uh i looked at my shoes and looked around i didn't see it it was it was on his saw that he was filing it had been like plopped down in a pile and then he carried it around and got it all over himself ordinary average guys you know that song uh-uh yeah i might know it but picking up the dog do hoping it's hard no i don't know i'll put it in the video but i could picture having a little crispy crusty shell with a nice warm hot squishy inside that's got a chewy middle huh okay it's like a lava cake [Music] so it's pinching the bar so i'm reaming the cut a little bit pinching the bar [Music] cuts closed up on the top open on the bottom give it a little kick it would be settling a lot harder except there's this limb coming from that ash tree over there that is starting to lay on pretty hard that's what i'm looking at right there this limb right over here goes underneath and then binds against the alder on the other side over here so i'm gonna go ahead and cut off where it sticks out so that if it breaks that that doesn't fold back and slap me a little pruning cut here with the 46. this is where you guys came in this is right about i'm just gonna let go you'll see me wrench the saw out see me wrench the saw out as it goes so here i'm cutting another big piece off and damien's all put this rope around it that way he can fish it out of the creek easier after it hits because we got to clean up all the stuff out of the creek i was not wild about making any little pieces fall but [Music] i felt like this was the best way because if we were to like hook on to anything with the crane and suddenly dislodged it would suddenly load the boom with more than it was able to have and that's a wrap i hit record right before i dropped in there and that was 49 minutes so that's that's pretty handy having something to hook to these kind of jobs if you haven't done them if you want to know it's really important to not have anything on you or under you that can get snagged by the thing if it goes when it goes and sort of take you with it or things that can slap you from behind so we've done lots of these where you're trying to anticipate everything that could brush past you or hook you or grab you so you don't get to you don't get the flip line to the piece as you're cutting it like it's a different game you're just cutting off everything that doesn't look like a stump until the thing settles into place see we got the creek all nice and cleaned out down there this is one of those creeks city creeks so you find some questionable things around the creek damian found some old nasty boxers in the creek we're not getting hazard pay don't touch those
