[Music] so you guys really seem to like my last james bond mini scuba tank [Music] we read your comments and it looks like we need a version too speaking of comments though definitely type your ideas for what i should build next also we're going to be going pretty hard with this video so if you want to toss a like and subscribe that'd be great so if you caught my last video we kind of teased we were going to do this along with some other vlog stuff which you guys really seem to like so uh probably gonna do more of that uh but this like small mini breather is actually more popular than i thought i know it from james bond but i got a lot of comments saying they know it from star wars and a bunch of other places so just a quick recap for those of you didn't see the last version of this first of all just go watch it but basically i built a mini scuba tank originally from thunderball uh it's made of two co2 air cartridges we emptied out it's important that part's important and filled with just regular air and we used some co2 bike adapters to do this now before you say this is super dangerous and to never try this you're absolutely right obviously scuba diving is dangerous especially if you're using like diy stuff like this i actually went through like a hundred reasons in my last video for why you shouldn't try this some of the main points include lung expansion while surfacing nitrogen buildup in the blood and potential contaminants from the gas so like why am i doing this well first i'm going to be taking every safety precaution we can but like also because it's just an extremely cool project are you kidding me this stuff doesn't exist also it's a little less dangerous when you consider the fact that we're not diving very deep no more than 10 feet and only down there for a very short period of time this means low nitrogen build up and less air expansion when you surface point is don't try this i'm doing it so you don't have to and like i really just would hate for anyone to get hurt as a result of this videos you know that's not what we're trying to do here we're trying to put out positive energy trying to inspire people to get creative because that's something i really value a lot but you got to do it safely and know the risks that being said to give a little that creative inspiration here's some projects that you guys built and sent to me on instagram [Music] definitely keep this up guys i love seeing what you're building take videos and send them to me at jayla's video on instagram or email works all right so this gadget's actually kind of hard to make practically like entire companies have tried and failed the main reason being the huge amount of air required to fit in these tiny little cylinders right next to your face like they are literally co2 cartridges according to the prop team from james bond did the calculations in the last video and it turns out the pressure required to fit enough air for what they did in the movies would need to be about 150 000 psi not easy like if we actually use standard co2 cartridges their rating is about 800 psi so with that we only really get a couple of breaths like with the last version i was able to get around i think four or five breaths with two cartridges and when i was really trying to conserve air i was able to stay under for around four minutes so in this version we're gonna try and do some upgrades try and get a bit more time underwater while still keeping the design relatively small and cool looking also i'll try and add some other spy features like lights and lasers because you know that's kind of what i do here so for this new design we should be able to increase the time underwater by just adding more tanks like we should be able to fit two more tanks on top without it taking up too much extra room and it should still look pretty cool too so i hopped on solidworks and did some remodeling to accommodate for the extra tanks then i ordered a few more of the smallest co2 bike pumps i could find i went with the metal ones because hopefully they're gonna be a little more durable hopefully handle more pressure so the threads in these co2 bike adapters can handle co2 cartridges that range from about 8 grams to 25 grams you can interchange cartridge sizes depending on how much air you want underwater first the actual size of this thing and we could in theory go even bigger like they make cartridges that go up to 72 grams or even higher but honestly at that point you could just get a mini scuba tank like spare air or something so it kind of defeats the purpose so i think a good sweet spot is sticking with four 25 gram co2 cartridges that gives us a total volume of 120 cubic centimeters so if we do some rough calculations at around 800 psi the air tanks can hold around one fourth of a cubic foot of air it should be good for around 12 to 15 breaths on land so that'll be a little less when we're underwater but that's twice as much air as we had last time so in the james bond movies i think he was able to stay under for around five minutes but he was moving around those using up oxygen looked like he was kind of deep down actually so with this device i think we can crack the same five minutes but we're gonna be much shallower and i'm gonna really try and conserve the air but i think we can do it though so in the top of this device just like last time i included a one-way valve now this is super important because uh if too much air ever rushes in to the device from the tanks uh it'll blow out the top instead of going right into your lungs and potentially popping them so i printed that top part and then the bottom piece to hold the other two tanks so if we wanted to use larger cartridges all we'd have to do is print a wider spacer also in the last version i didn't really do anything about a mouthpiece it was small enough where i could just bite down on the thing but in this version with the two extra tanks it's too wide so i 3d model and printed an adapter that has like a snorkel mouthpiece that just slides right on the front actually in the movies they also made two versions of the 007 mini breather one with a mouthpiece and one without so you know kind of keeping it authentic here now another idea i had is because now we have four tanks it'd be cool if we could open all the four tanks with just one lever so i modeled and printed some sort of like mini pulleys that would sit on the back of the tanks and take the rotation from one of the valves and disperse it to the other three now this did have some potential but the problem is we have to fill each tank separately so we need each valve to be independent for that um so it might end up being more trouble than it's worth i also thought it'd be really cool if we put some underwater lights on this thing i feel like that might be useful if a spy ever had to do like some night recon i also had to build an underwater laser watch to go with this so here it is it is a bit bigger than the last version but definitely still portable enough to fit in like a jacket pocket plus you can take it apart to make it really small if you ever needed to do that but to pump up the tanks we're using a super high pressure hand pump and an adapter so you don't need any other fancy equipment now this pump goes up to 3000 psi we're not going to go that high sticking around the 800 range because that's the co2 cartridges rating so each tank takes about 20 pumps to fill up so that means you can fill up the entire thing in a matter of minutes which is at least one good thing about having these tanks be really small like if you tried to pump up like a regular scuba tank this way you'd be there for days honestly also we got the built-in lights and the laser watch to top it all off [Music] [Music] all right am i forgetting anything uh oh yeah kids don't try this at home uh go to a friend's house i'm kidding we are actually gonna go to a friend's house to test this they have a pool come on so as you see it only takes a few minutes to pump this up fully and you're good to go [Music] [Music] [Music] and of course we can't forget the lights and the lasers [Music] [Music] cool [Music] i also did an underwater test to see how long we could stand her remember last time i got around two minutes and some change with no assistance and four minutes with the last version of the tank so let's see if we can break five minutes with this thing so as it turns out the mouthpiece did leak a little bit because in order to pump these up we have to get to the valve so the mouthpiece has to be removable so every time i tried to take a breath a little bit of water would leak in you know inhale some water that really throws off your concentration so i bailed it like three minutes dirty without using all the tanks but then i sealed it up better and gave it another try and i ended up staying under for five and a half minutes which is pretty sick like i was definitely breathing real slow trying to conserve air trying not to move at all but we got it so i'm happy with that well done plus the lights and the lasers just look so sick underwater like it literally felt like i was in a movie all right but being a spy it ain't all fun and games like last time i had to escape some bad guys by doing a pretty sweet bridge jump but the guys following me they they found me again so this time i had to step it up a notch [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] god [Music] how was that i would very much do that again dude some jet skis i think it went well dude we were out there and you couldn't see anything it literally felt like you were in a video game because there's nothing around wait it felt like some gta yeah bro it was like if you fell off you felt like you're going to regen like a video game right as the guy was like alright we gotta go we gotta go in we got a with a drone chasing you just ripping the jets dude but i'm gonna ride out these spy vibes a little longer oh yeah put on the glasses i don't know all right well there it is guys double-oh-seven star wars mini breather version 2. remember don't try this at home like if you want to learn to scuba dive definitely get professional help but really happy with how this one turned out we're really up in the production value so please hit that like button if you did enjoy this and also subscribe if you want to see more stuff like this and don't forget to let me know what i'm building next so thank you for watching catch you in the next one peace [Music] you
