I Built Shoes To Walk On Water!

these shoes let you walk on water no magic no help just walk on in and you become aquaman people have been trying to do this for thousands of years like it's biblical there are literally hundreds of patents even da vinci himself had a walking on water invention if this many people have put that much time and effort into this like where are they like i want one so it seems that most all walking on water shoes are just giant floats or illusions use external help like jet skis to me walking on water shoes have to be compact relatively if you can't just strap six foot pontoon shoes to your feet and claim your jesus that's just a boat we already have that i think the magic really comes from being like as discreet as possible the more we look like just a dude standing on the surface moving around no trickery no extra help the better it is first we need some water to walk off so i ordered a pool then i'll probably need like a structure or something to hold on to while i'm learning so i got a gigantic tent to put around the pool we actually have been working on this for a while now it's gonna be sort of like our second workshop so we can build even bigger things and also more than one thing at the same time and after a bit of decorating some lights it's taking shape at its core walking on water is pretty simple gotta like kick push somehow move enough water downward to keep us up tons of animals actually do this all the time i think there's literally a jesus lizard that runs on water what's happening here i think we're getting a lizard whoa damn that's so cool right here is a real jesus lizard their giant back feet and strong legs allow them to push enough water down so they can actually run on the surface truly marvelous creatures these are why are you talking like that mechanism and the water can't be cold either so when the lizard guy said this is freaking cold both me and the lizard knew we were screwed it's all good though i've already got like a super sick plan and stuff so after watching several of these floaty water shoe videos it seems like stability is the issue in order to stay up you need massive floats which again is just a boat so we need a way to balance on these small floats actually da vinci's invention had built-in handholds to balance but that's not cool like it's been 500 years we have way sicker [ __ ] instead of balancing with some sticks let's use massive jet thrusters i've actually lowkey been thinking about making a jet pack for a while now it's already had some very large edfs lying around basically electric turbines that put out 60 pounds of thrust each oh my gosh so i strapped them to my hands and was able to hop around a little bit as you can see though i'm able to literally lean on the jets so let's try and use these along with some smaller floats to walk on water then next time maybe we can make like a crazy iron man electric jet pack like a comma if you want to see that to start though let's just try the float shoes without the jets and see how hard it is to actually balance that is so sketchy so i taped and braced the floats with some wood supports to stop them from just slipping off my feet which i thought was a great idea at the time until this happened oh god it's like breaking my ankles it's so cold too that went way worse i thought it would go oh god you're doing that again well different oh yeah i can't hold my weight though i'm firmly standing i thought i did the calculation that i'm fatter even if i did get this to work the shoes would still need to be way too big for my liking also it is much harder than i thought to balance i don't think adding giant like electric fans it's gonna help the situation we need a new plan like hydrofoils they're basically underwater wings that push upward as they move you can actually like zoom across water under your own power so maybe with a few mods we can actually walk or run with them all right i am about to order this thousand dollar hydrofoil uh so really hoping we can make something happen here it's gonna work no not even a little bit sometimes you gotta go for it you know all right let's get this thing open guys carry a knife bird look at how easy that is let's go let's go nice this is way harder than i thought i think strapping another hydrofoil to my foot would make this even harder but they do make electric hydrofoils that actually look a little bit easier let's just get one of those to convert to water shoes like that way we don't have to focus on pumping our feet at all all we got to do is balance and glide across the surface like this is how you engineer i've always said if something already exists like don't waste time reinventing the wheel [Music] what are you doing like i always say dude you can't just be buying everything you got to sometimes like get in the workshop get your hands dirty seems like you're a cheap bastard here's what we're doing we got a lot of electric motors we're going to slap them on here i put the motors on the foil and ran the cables up to the backpack so if this works we can just ditch the board and attach the foil directly to my foot seems really legit this could easily all fall out i also don't think i brought enough screws see if we can pull a screw off the dock connect this and this together see people like ask me like how do i be an engineer like he was like nice did you watch any videos on how to do it i think i'm ready to just take it to the doctor i'm gonna come back here i think i might try and actually jump the dock so if you want a nice pov i plan for that i don't know what happens oh that nice waterproof case there has to be a better way like remember all we gotta do is push down on the water with about 200 pounds of force physically speaking this should be easier than flying which i've already done because i mean water is more dense than air so maybe like powerful electric motors and boat props could do what we want they're lightweight they're small and they have a ton of power so long as the prop stays under water that's pretty much my only concern like if there's a prop right below the surface will enough water be able to come around it and give us the force we need to stay on top luckily i thought of an extremely professional and scientific way to test this so here we have a propeller with a huge ass motor this time and a scale and uh we're just gonna see how much thrust this thing can give a bomb it yeah get some get some good shots this is some this is some craftsmanship right here the main goal is not to rip the side of the pool and then just try and i'm reading like 80 90 pounds of thrust and i haven't done sh yet with the throttle it's hard to hold down oh my god bro i'm like a third throttle well that's a lot of thrust naturally i got even bigger motors each of these things is about 10 horsepower so that's about four dinghy outboard motors strapped to each leg so if anything's going to get me out of the water it's this thing the best part it's all waterproof the worst part it's like four and a half grams so i really really need this to work put the motor on the back of my leg with the prop about six inches under my foot so it stays just under the surface to give us thrust but everything from my ankle up will be out of the water that counts as walking on water in my book so i built the frame and everything out of some aluminum which would not be possible without this beast of a cnc machine right here this is a tormach 770 and it cuts through metal like butter super easy to use just click a few buttons and the machine does basically everything for you yeah would definitely recommend oh yeah last thing we got to do is waterproof the batteries this is my genius solution for that [Music] so what i did glued everything up and then put screws for the terminals and then so we still have access to the port i used a bottle looks like a bottle of coconut water so let's toss this in the pool see if it catches on fire do we start a timer dude it's slowly electroplating itself so you can see there's like bubbles coming off of one of the terminals look at that bone dry probably with that scientific test out of the way we got the first boot finished let's suit up whatever happens happens all right let's plug it in safe it's safe we know what we're doing this should make it completely waterproof and the glove is that's uh really holding the whole project together [Music] let's just throw it in and uh see if it survives or blows up or whatever oh i can feel it oh yo i i'm going to be spinning so i need for the other leg i need to spin it the opposite way i think eventually though we got it all sorted out and took it to a full-sized pool oh there we go sounds kind you pretty solid first test just gotta cut one plate and slap it over that bearing that fell out and we're back in business you just got it and you go it definitely takes some practice but with each what i should have done in the first place and got a legit waterproof box that should do it if it didn't look enough like bombs now we have lights involved and wires and it makes noise yes good by day three i was feeling even more comfortable oh yeah oh yep [Music] getting a little higher out of the water and even trying to take some steps oh what's up boys oh bro it's going upwards easy money for a little bit it's gonna actually pop right back down here then we're gonna pop right back up we're gonna go over here i chose to do that i wanted to do that then something magic [Music] dude happened confident with a bit more practice i can go for a lot longer but honestly though walking on water isn't even the coolest thing about this like they basically turn you into aquaman probably the most fun invention i've ever made you can go above and below the water let's see what they can really do so a quick eight-hour drive later we arrived at lake tahoe met up with nigel who does boat tours and set sail the conditions were perfect the water the scenery everything except the temperature dude that is cool but we got a video to make so after some quick wim hof and a few weird looks we suited up
