okay three two one what's up everybody we're we're having a little bit of a party here because we've got an announcement to make we are expecting in a few months but the thing is we don't know what we're having and we've always waited to find out but this time we let the doctor write in a note so leg arms nose and he wouldn't head and set the Canon up for us with the color of what we're having so we're gonna fire it I've got the drone yet this guy so I'm gonna fly around we're gonna see what happens and you know what I saw it I thought I do it it was I saw Kathleen what do you think and it blows much smoke as I was hoping but it still kind of work this is big glob go throw in the air hey guys we're gonna go ahead and talk about the one thing that you guys like to talk about a lot and that's this girl back here 1150 versatile we're gonna talk about the story why we have it how we got it and so forth and explain the process of how to get it back to running order and the prices we figure to make it happen and then we'll give three options of the three things that can happen with it and we'll just kind of walk you through and explain because you guys have been asking get that thing restore it put it back to life restore it and a lot of you guys don't necessarily know how much it involves it would be extensive so right now this is a 1984 versatile it had 1150 kta which is actually now into one of our buds we bought the tractor to put that tractor in there and just you know this is the 1150 series versatile but the engine is also at 11:50 cubic inch Cummins engine KT a Cummins 1150 so I don't know first I'll chose the name at the 1150 because the engine I'm sure they did but that is why they're both eleven 50s but technically we pulled an 1150 engine out of itself just kind of interesting about there so this is actually we'd be the third or fourth order something like that and then of course how we found it is a couple years ago I was running the series to bud the motor seized on it didn't run well it didn't SRC but it had a lot of lows and yeah that squirt cylinder yeah an injector went bad it leaned out the cylinder caused some issues and without major overhaul it would it would have been a lot of money to dump into it so we're looking at how much it would cost to rebuild that motor and when we were doing that somebody reached out to Nick and it was Nathan we won't say the last name in case he doesn't want to Nathan's a Big Bud guy and yeah he's like hey I have any engine that'll worked about track of yours because we were looking at put a man 14 Commons in that big bud we're like what can we do for a the cheapest way to get the most horsepower in that tractor well the easiest way is to have the same engine and put it back in it just like I got a 350 nm Chevy take 350 out put another little breather feedback in it and everything bolts right back up that's the simplest way to make it so Nathan contacted him said hey I know where there's a versatile that had a rebuilt motor in it it's strong it's good the transmissions no good though they told tore it apart and it was in Glasgow Montana on a cosign Minh right yep was on consignment and I called the dealer and they were asking in 15-5 for it I believe at the time and I just shot him a price of 12 5-12 and they just took it immediately said we'll take it they wanted the tractor gone it'd been there on two years and I mean we saw the value of the engine because to buy that engine alone was about twenty to twenty-five thousand dollars for used not even fully rebuild just I used running kta Cummins engine it's about that much money no I will say that when we were pulling the motor out of this tractor it was really hard for Nick and I we're looking at this thing like man this is a pretty neat tractor and like we just pulling out and we knew that this tractor will probably never run again it'll be a parts tractor for somebody and that's not something that we we were excited about but we also knew our bud was more important because that's our main thing so that's that's kind of the story behind this tractor and then we're gonna start just explaining what the process it's gonna be to get this thing back up and running order and how much it's gonna cause for each thing roughly and these are just figures they're not based on so let's first start with the reason why this tractor isn't driving in the field right now and that's the transmission so let's go over here and take a look at it so when this crate is a transmission we didn't take it apart like this it was like this when we bought the tractor it was already removed the transmission created on the previous owner he had the engine rebuilt tuned up from 470 horsepower to five and a quarter and this is a weak point of the 1150 they've made power shifts for these tractors but they also made manual shift or clutch a manual transmission and the issue with this transmission was there's a couple bearings that didn't have advocate oiling to him they just their widows design it was a flaw and the bearings are dry out seized up and then the shaft which here and gears a break on our kits that can fix that and if your transmission still good they can put you won't have problem I would HIGHLY advise having that done I'm sure it's best not how it didn't happen so so when they pulled this out they took the gears out they literally cut a couple of shaft of three main shafts it's in here but the gears there's three gears are completely destroyed completely destroyed teeth chewed off and and I believe all the parts are here but the manufactured versitile does not manufacture this transmission or parts those transfers anymore you can't find it so it's not like you can rebuild this transmission there are machine shops supposedly one in Colorado that will machine these from scratch as needed but it's very expensive so we're looking at the amount of money it's going to take to try to get this thing back in order and put it back in the tractor it's going to be quite a bit of money and time and so when you look at that it's better to have either an allison or a power shift of some sort into this tractor or you can make an automatic and you can set this tractor up as like a grain car tractor you know with hydraulics and few other things now if you found a transmission that had a PTO on it you could set this up for a PTO Drive for a green card so we're looking at it's not worth putting money into this transmission here to get this back up in order it just just it's just a rough guess if you can get the parts made I would say you need at least ten fifteen thousand dollars to make the trans and and and there's no transmissions laying around like there's one of these on the shelf and there is whoever has that's worth a lot of money because the only transmissions that are good are in a working tractor so you'd have to kill another tractor to get a transfer to put in this one yeah so that's the main thing that's holding this thing back now if we could find an allison transmission with a drop box or just a drop box in general we could probably set this tractor up where now you can run the two sets of duals I'll show you what we're talking about here okay so I am inside the engine compartment this is where the kta 1150 would be so that big old engine sitting right here right okay the transmission is bolts right on the back of the bell housing right here well here's the thing your output shaft and engine is up above K well how does that power get down to these rear axles or the front or rear it is what's called a drop box typically on our big buds are series one in series two actually have a chain case where a big chain takes that power drops it down and then splits it off to the rear-axle the problem with this tractor is that's built into the transmission that's why all new tractors are is that actual transmission acts as the drop box so it takes the power going in drops it down through all the gears and then puts an output shaft for the front in the rear of the tractor to power okay well with the transmission shot we have no way to drop the power down from the engine to their axles so that means we have to come up with some kind of drop box which we can't manufacture some like that there's no way we could fabricate it there are items out there we could probably use we don't know we're out but I know the money would just be astronomical to try to and then try and do fit that in here with a transmission cuz you still got have a transmission so you gotta have the engine a transmission a drop box of some kind to drop it down to power those two axles and that's our problem is we can't get power down without the transmission and transmission just aren't like cheap for a horsepower or tractor like this they just there's not that's our issue that's why we are going the amount of work and money it would take to get this to even function it's just not worth it now saying all that it's not saying that we're not willing to try to do this but we're looking at figures so let's just say we have ten thousand dollars into a motor to rebuild which we have a motor or we find a motor for it so you're getting 10 grand into that and then you look at your transmission you know it depending on how much that's gonna cost you could say anywhere from fifteen to thirty thousand dollars to try to find the right setup that'll fit in here I'm just gonna say these high figures because it usually turns out to be higher then you have your hydraulics and if you other things along the way that let's just say another ten thousand dollars so you're getting close to the fifty thousand dollar mark when you're said and done not including like paint and things like that so fifty thousand dollars to put in this tractor which is not necessarily going to be a hard thing to do to set it up but to try to find the components is going to be challenging what would be neat though is if we could get this thing to be set up that way we could see about maybe throw in some LSW 1,400 series on this thing which is easy to modify to get it to sit on this thing I think this tractor would be sweet like that if we could set it up for a grain cart I think the visibility would be awesome we could use it for rolling our Peas you know pulling the land road roller we could use it for heavy hair oh we can you for at aelod speed disk you know a lot of other things when the other tractors are busy this thing can be our pulling out tractor if one of them gets stuck so we would use it it's not like we just build in it would sit but then again it's a lot of money's so a lot of people are asking please restore it you have to understand it's not necessarily as easy as most people think but it's not saying that it can't be done it can be done now the back of this does not have a PTO output shaft a lot of the other tractors do I think there's a kit they made or they made a couple use of 11:50 verse tells with the option to have a power take-off in the back the purpose for a power take-off would be to run like a grain cart cuz grain carts are huge they got a mass of augur on them and to power that auger you got to have some serious torque it's so that's where an output shaft is or a PTO power take-off is what they call it to power that well this tractor doesn't have that so already right there it doesn't give us any other edge above our big buds our big buds don't have power takeoffs this doesn't have a power take-off this tractor is a lot lighter than our big buds it has to have chloride in the wheels to even get close to the weight of the big buds so you can have horsepower but if you can't apply that horsepower to the ground you're just gonna be slipping the tractors which means wear and tear on the tires and you're just gonna peel out the whole time and it's just not gonna get you anywhere so there's that's why they put water well not water but chloride into the wheels let's try to get the weight on you can stack pieces of iron on to to help but the best way to get weight is in the wheels and if you wanted to it is possible Lankan farms proved it you can run a grain cart with hydraulics it is possible it's just very expensive I mean you're looking at least $15,000 probably in pumps in coolers and drive motors and hydraulic valve bodies plus a nightmare of engineering because it seems like it's never set up right the first time when you have heating issues and all kinds of things it is possible it will never be as fast as a power take-off drive but it is possible to do it but it all goes back to the same thing again you got to have it powered and to get power to the wheels means a new transmission which we don't have a drop box of some kind which we don't have and don't know how to get and an engine so if you can find and this is the thing you have some of these old Steiger tractors that actually did have a whole transmission of which is a drop box and everything there with pto but the thing is some of those old ones they didn't have that where if you have 450 horse that might be too much for those things to handle so you if you can find a transmission with a PTO on it that would be fantastic we can make it happen with putting a PTO right here it wouldn't be that hard to do but you're looking at money for one of those transmissions and to do a PTO you got to cut the back plate of that rear end apart and then you got to somehow have a power go through the center hinge point of this which means cutting holes through here somehow engineering a burying holder there and this articulates it flexes a twist it wasn't engineered from the factory to have a PTO go through here it would be very difficult it'd probably be very challenging another thing is this tractor I can see the hinge pins are wore out on it that have to be replaced it's got a couple leaky wheel seals in it that's got to be fixed we don't know about the bearings these axles I have no idea how good they are but they're definitely not as good as a Clark or CAD axles and axles so we're not familiar with too much I'm not saying that they're bad axles but they're just not as heavy as Nick said as the big bug let's go look in the cab real quick I'll show you what what the disaster that is all right so this is the cab it's actually a really neat cab great visibility I really like this cab it's tiny it's not like the new verse tiles they're a lot bigger this cab is pretty small birds got in here when we got it I think the door was it was door even open I think it was open the floor was missing where they pulled the transmission so animals were getting in here it's just a mess the ceiling coming down there's just a lot of issues in here that would take a lot of work to get fixed up and make it look really nice doable yes is it worth the effort I don't know at least not now so the three options that we see for this tractor one we have a great year make lots of money that we can put into this tractor and we find the parts and put it into it and make it live again - we sell it to somebody either for parts or you scrap it and get that kind of money for it three you have to have a lot of sponsors to make it worth our time and to make this happen now that's the three things that we see to do it not saying that it can't be done but it's gonna take some time and work to make it happen so with that all set guys don't expect to see this thing running on our farm anytime soon it's it's here right now there's a few individuals that are interested in it and if the right guy comes by and gives you know the decent price for it I think it's just let it go let it hopefully take care of someone else and let some other machine hopefully run off the life of this one tire aren't too bad though anybody want those goes with the tractor just walking over to our K engine they're going to show you guys but I still stop for some pea brain I like P breaks no no stop it Nick whoo-hoo those are tasty I love peace are you guys ready to enter the monster cave okay a patch is not really monster but that is a monster ouch and then this is a monster and then these guys back here though they're monsters so yeah this is our monster cave maybe someday we'll add another one to it like say 600 bud that's in the other shop that will get completed someday tires well this right here is the old heart out of that series too big bud this is a Katie not a Katie a Katie because it doesn't after cooled of a stands for rain at about 450 horsepower from the factory it's got almost 10,000 hours on it somewhere in that area and this is what got week it needs an engine overhaul so we put a new injector in the front cylinder because it leaned it out on the bat it was a bad injector and then cylinder in the Front's junk so we tried to get a bring back life had never snapped out of itself well then what happened is one of the coolers inside the engine that runs the oil threw it through the coolant somehow Populi core an o-ring will it pumped all the oil into the radiator and basically the engine kind of sees an acid funny thing is it actually turned over after we got back to this shop and started up again so it's not necessarily seized but it was a bad thing so we took it out no we know a couple people and that have kind of quoted us prices on it this motor to rebuild it to do it right can be anywhere from 5 grand 10 grand in that area and you could get more into that if you're not careful so it all depends on what you're doing if we did put this in the BIR style I don't think I'd boost the power I think I'd keep it at 450 because I don't think you need any more for that tractor that tractor is wide enough where it'd just be overkill so you would keep low horsepower which would be longer-lasting easier on the motor and you know I think it worked out well but you need the money it's all money and I know a lot of people think this and they might think that we're lying but we're not made of money out here it's actually been pretty dry outside the crops this year are probably gonna take a turn south if we don't get a rain here real soon it's just we've only had basically four and a half inches of rain so far that's all our crops are working on at this point and that might be it so we'll see how it goes but that is a little bit of information as to why guys we're so hesitant to even attempt doing with that versatile I know you guys are gonna say fix the versatile and I totally understand that's what we're thinking inside too but don't get us wrong if somebody if we're not the ones doing it and if somebody buys it and brings it back to life that would be awesome we think it's so neat to see this old school muscle iron still working today it's just it's awesome so if it's not us whoever we sell it to hopefully they can bring it back to life or maybe it's going to a good home to bring another one back to life we don't know unless someone wants a big tractor to be in our front yard you can just Park it there do you guys need a play set for your kids a couple sharp edges a little high a little bit of oil on it but I'm sure you can figure it out oh and real quick guys this was probably out of about sixteen hundred comments in the most recent monster tire video that we did everybody's asking literally like probably 200 in the comments what's up why are these on backwards I will explain that put those on wrong no we're not we're not making funny you guys believe me I understand we actually get it they are on backwards technically there is there is definitely something odd there and no we didn't do that unintentionally we didn't make a mistake we've done it up did on purpose reason is guys because this is not a powered wheel this is not rear-wheel assist its rear-wheel steering there's there's actually science behind it that having the tread pattern reversed like that helps wear on the tires and it increases your traction when you're dragging because these wheels aren't power they're not pulling they're dragging so think about that you want the tread pattern on tire is pulling so when it's gripping and pulling well now it's doing the opposite it's being pulled so it's being the option side of the tread bar is making contact the ground the force applied so by reversing it you're now turning that red pattern into almost as if it's pulling again and that is where you get your turning friction because these things sometimes don't like to turn very much this way a boat has a rudder in the back every time this thing turns on an angle these are like rudders they catch the ground and then they pull it wherever it needs to go go to a dealership check out the combines if they're not rear-wheel powered I guarantee you their wheels are gonna be on backwards like this - if their rear will power though then they do put them on facing forward because they want those tires to try to pull and dig like you guys back east I have mud that we don't really have that often but that is a very good question why you guys are asking that and that's a lot of things that we don't even think twice about because we just that's just how it is just do it without you guys asking those questions you probably wouldn't get the answer for it so thank you know actually how it's a great question and honestly guys ask those questions it seems weird to us to like well duh but I completely understand how would you know better it's like people driving vehicles in Reverse really fast behind the camera like why would someone do that all colors white I mean come on why would you drive a white pickup and a dog in the back face and I mean I hey the dog was happy who's finally facing the right way and yes we do know if we're missing a lug I know a lot of you guys gave comments on that that one stripped out they're just the regular truck lug we're gonna put a new nut on it just haven't got it yet but it's going on so don't worry let's get a new lug but good eyes guys man you're gonna spawn stuff like like I'm zipper hey no well thanks for tuning in guys it's been a pleasure I hope you had a wonderful Independence Day if you're from America that's actually tomorrow because we're taping us the day before Independence Day but it's been a wonderful week summers great things are a little slow right now which is awesome for Welker Farms because we're have a little bit of time to be able to enjoy family a little vacation you know enjoy Montana there's a lot of beauty here that we haven't had a chance to really get to be a part of but the farm work is gonna start kicking off hard and fast soon especially this rains not coming things gonna start drying up and beast mode combine or if you guys call it beast buying these beasts loving is gonna wake up and they're gonna be trucks rolling around and a 93 70 is gonna hopefully have a shiny trailer on it a bunch of things that could happen so stay tuned guys but anyways make sure you like subscribe leave us a comment if it's about those tread on the tires we need the comments great thumbs up subscribe and you know what stay tuned for the next episode he might be in it I don't know if he's still working for us I'm gonna get fired who knows it happens a lot I have control of that okay guys take care god bless we'll see you later
